There had been some concern over the ‘classic fit’ tees design which looks a lot smaller than when viewed online. However, once you put it on it’s not too bad. The slim fit ones are much better though.

Traktor Kontrol S4

If first impressions are anything to go by then this unit looks the dogs danglys! It has electromagnetic jog wheels, two deck control sections (which can be assigned to any of the four decks that you’ll find in the S4 software) and two effect units.

The S4 software has been adapted from Traktor Pro and designed to work in complete harmony with the controller. There’s a new loop section on each deck that allows you to load in four loops. These can either be pre-recorded or made up on the fly whilst DJing (which is a neat feature) and should be a real boon for the more adventurous DJs amongst you. They even include some loops from Loopmasters sample library.

The build quality looks pretty good although I can only assume this from looking at the photos. The colour scheme and lighting for the buttons and knobs looks cool and will look even better in a dark club.

One thing i really like the look of is the optional flightcase. It’s very snazzy with a slide out tray to put your laptop on.

Vocal Booth Weekender 2010

It’s getting ever closer

Since booking flights for myself, Samantha, Paul and Shar the excitement for this event has just grown and grown. It was an honour when Andy Ward asked me to DJ at this the second VB Weekender. Last years event was an intimate affair for
around 300 people. This years event will be approximately 3 times bigger!

We arrive on Thursday 16th September at 12.30pm for what will be (for me personally) THE best event I’ve ever been to. We’ll be staying at the beautiful Montepiedra Hotel where all the day time action is. Dancing by the side of the pool with like-minded folks, listening to that soulful House music we all know and love under that glorious Spanish sunshine.

On an evening we move to the club next door for more House music spun by some of the world’s top DJs. To be able to play on the same bill as Grant Nelson, Fanatix, Hippie Torales, Phil Asher, Ricky Morrison, Groove Assassin etc. is a dream come true.

On Saturday Paul and I will be firmly camped on the front row for Danny J Lewis’ Production Seminar. With releases on Defected/4th Floor/Masters at Work Records/Enzyme Black and lecturing experience of over eight years, Danny sure knows his stuff and it will be invaluable experience for both of us to learn from the man himself.

Sunday daytime we move to the salubrious surroundings of the ‘Jardines Del Mar’. Quite simply this venue is stunning. Four poster beds by the side of the pool anyone? Oh and talking of ‘Jardines Del Mar’, that is also the name for my first tune which will see an official release on a free ‘Friends Of The Booth’ CD that is being given away over the four day event.

Many of the Pressure Radio crew will be in attendance and it will be good to finally meet the faces behind the voices.
