I was looking them up in completed auctions and discovered that Flint serving utensils are now collectible. Click HERE to see how much Flint currently sells for. WHOA. I went running for my kitchen drawers. I have several pieces. I am not fancy enough for high dollar utensils lol. I will be selling mine and buying replacements at the Dollar Tree one day soon. They are easy to ID, they have an arrowhead mark and say Flint Stainless. The plain ones seem to sell the best. I will now be watching for these at yard sales. Post & let us know if you find some at your house. :)

I was excited. Take a look at completed sales HERE and you will understand. Nice prices, right?!! Then I pulled them all of the way out of the box. This is what they looked like:

Gross!!! Baked on, disgusting crud. That won't come off, right? Wrong - here is what the same piece looked like just 30 seconds later:

You can do it too, and take advantage at yard sales. The yucky ones are always priced cheaper. I ran a sink of dishwater. Dipped one in enough to get wet. Sprinkled on some Bar Keeper's Friend ($1.50 at Dollar General) and scrubbed with a wet dish cloth. Rinse & you are done! Works with coffee mugs too. It is in a can like Comet cleaner is in. It will clean up Copper Revere Ware too but sometimes I have to make a paste and let it sit a while. Before long you will be cleaning everything in your house with it. You do have to rinse or it leaves a powdery film when it dries. The can looks like this:

Linking with Her Library Adventures & Apron Thrift Girl

Pretty, right? At least I think so. I bought it in a lot of wall stuff at an auction long ago. I think the frame is just beautiful. It hung on one of my walls for a year or two. Then I decided I was tired of it and listed it. It sold. Then the buyer didn't pay. It sold again, this time for more money. Then the buyer didn't pay. It sold for the 3rd time for $36. GUESS WHAT? I just got the notice that eBay opened an upaid buyer case. Sigh....it is jinxed?

I also heard from a recent buyer that her item didn't work. It wasn't something that I would consider easily breakable. In nice words I told the buyer that I tested it before I sold it and it worked great. Would she mind checking one more time to make sure she put the batteries in correctly? If it didn't work after that I would refund her. I was worried that would offend her but I am so glad I sent that email. She said she didn't realize it used batteries and that it works great. I was both LOL & Whew!

I am off from my job the next few days. I have to finish going through the estate sale stuff. I sold enough locally & on some Facebook groups to get my money back and there is a LOT left to go. I have been sending a car load a week to a friend that does consignment. Even paying 50% consignment fees it is worth it, as everything we receive back will be profit. I am trying to hurry & empty out the barn. I need the space. Mama went to another estate sale yesterday and told them we would be happy to make an offer on the leftovers and they gave the impression they would call us back. There was a lot of old glass left. Buying leftovers may turn into a never-ending source of inventory. It is a LOT of work though.

Someone on the eBay Toy board shared this link to a completed auction: LINK I guess I was using the wrong keywords. Thanks!

I found this going through the estate sale boxes in the barn. It does not have any tags or marks. It is an antique child's toy cat. The key to wind it is missing. Does anyone recognize it? Thanks for looking.
There is a mountain of stuff in my barn from that estate sale. I haven't a place to put another box! I worked all weekend, doing my nurse thing. Today will be the first day I will have a chance to start climbing "junk mountain."

My sweet Mama went to yard sales despite the mountain. She loves me, and I love her. But if she brings another box of stuff in my house before I can sell some of this stuff I may cry. More likely I will just shake my head an laugh. Y'all don't call A&E & put me on hoarders. I really am going to do something with it all.

She bought a vintage Betty Crocker Cookbook. It isn't the red pie one that I love to sell but still nice. There is also a 2 1/2 Qt Pyrex bowl. See the tabs on the sides? You can pour from those. No matter the pattern they are called Cinderella bowls if they have the tabs. There are several sites that you can Google to help id your patterns. This one is my favorite. (No I don't know the author & it isn't a paid link.) In about 5 seconds I had my pattern identified. It is definitely a link worth saving. Although mine isn't worth much I am happy to know the pattern name, Early American. It used to take hours of digging through pattern books in the old days.

I am home today, resting. My barn is full of stuff. FULL. The trailer we hauled it home on is large and has wood panels on 3 sides like a dump truck with a metal gate on the back. We have filled it to the brim twice. There is one trailer load of items left to be loaded and brought home when my husband gets off from work today. We had a little "help" from a thief or two when we weren't there. I am glad I brought the best stuff home first! I will start going through it all this weekend and will keep you all up to date. As of this posting I have sold $88. I paid $250 for all of it.

Remember the Yardsellr post? I have sold $134.98 since I listed a (very few) items there. NO fees for sellers! I did offer free shipping but that was my choice to do so. I will definitely keep listing my lower end things there.

I have had a few nice eBay sales, including this Counsances Le Crueset pan for $50 this morning. It was from the estate auction where I bought the Bulls hat and Revere Ware. It is all profit less the fees on all of the cookware. That was a good sale, and I pay a lot more attention to pots and pans now.

That's enough - I don't plan to bore you by reporting every sale. Those items I had posted about previously & I thought you would be interested to see how they turned out. I have one pending return on a jacket for fit reasons despite my measurements in the listing. (I DO NOT LIKE the new return guidelines to get reduced seller fees!) I have sold several jackets lately despite the warm temps. I went to an estate sale on Friday morning. Not a lot of antiques or high dollar items but a lot of volume. I spent a little money and was happy. When I was writing the check my mouth accidentally mumbled that I would be interested in making an offer on anything that was left over after the sale. They were quick to tell me someone else had offered already but took my number. I went on to my job and forgot.

It was a busy, crazy work weekend. On Saturday my phone rang and they asked me to come make an offer. I was hot, tired, and busy working. I explained that I worked until 3 but could come after that. They waited. It had been moved into a carport and covered patio. It is piles of boxes and hard to see. I made an offer, they countered a small amount more and I accepted. So I am spending my day off tomorrow hauling it home.

I know it looks like piles of junk but so far I found a gas powered push mower, truck bed tool box, 3 ladders, 4 rocking chairs, a dining table, multiple lamps, baby changing table, sewing table, end/coffee tables, bicycle, sewing items, and much more. I will post updates and better pictures soon.
It will likely be a few days before I can post here again.

I bought one of these for myself and bought one to give to a friend. I forgot where it was and so bought her something else. Surely I am not the ONLY one you know who could hide her own Easter eggs? It was hidden in plain sight the whole time. I will just give it to one of you! This is super nice & sells for $25. It makes your hands feel soft and smells great (Vanilla & Coconut scented). It is a body lotion, buffing block, cuticle oil, and nail file. Open to US & Canada readers, ends 3/30/12.

I am always tying to figure out what to do with the leftovers when I buy things by the table full at auctions. There are good usable items that won't sell on eBay due to shipping costs. Yardsales are one way, but you have to store it, price it, and spend all day haggling.

I have mentioned before that I sell in local groups on Facebook. It is a good way to get rid of big stuff like furniture or small dollar items. There are groups for most areas, just search by your county or city. Last week I started using Yardsellr too. It attaches to your Facebook account. You can choose to allow local pickups, ship, or both. There are NO seller fees. The buyer pays a small fee. Yeehaw! You can also import your eBay and Etsy listings. They will send you a check or you can take Paypal. I chose a check, no fees at all for me that way.

I put a few things on to check it out. 7 or 8 initially. It takes just seconds to list. I sold one pretty quickly so will be adding more. You can choose to pay for "boosts" to bring more traffic but I chose not to, wanting a completely free place to sell for a change. If you want to check it out there is a link to my stuff on my facebook page, or click here. At this time there are no benefits for referrals except some stupid points program called photons, which are points that you can use towards purchases. These seem to disappear as soon as you get them so I hope they discontinue that. It looked confusing at first. It is the only part of the site I didn't like.

As long as it is free I plan to list lower end items to help get that stuff out of here. Have any of you used it successfully?

My mom found it last weekend at a yard sale. It is a Buzz Lightyear Wing Pack. You unfold it and your kiddo wears it on his/her back to pretend to fly/be Buzz. It talks. Current completed auctions show 100% sell-through for used ones. The price ranges are from $59.99 to $9.99. It looks like the lower end prices were mostly auctions, not fixed price items. I will definitely put mine in the store with a best offer feature. If you have an item that is easily found on eBay and not hard to find I always put it in the store around the highest price with a best offer available. Many times I get the full asking price. $60 for a yard sale toy is awesome!

In rural AR the closest we get to art is usually the internet, or my 2nd grader's watercolors :) I do appreciate beauty when I see it. But some things I just don't understand. To my untrained eye this looks like something you would flush. I am happy for the seller, though. I don't know him/her, someone on one of the eBay boards pointed it out. It is a Russell Wright Seal Paperweight. It sold for $356. What do you think about it? Would you have picked this up at a thrift store & thought it was treasure?

It is only a very small beginning. I couldn't figure out a way to let you guys edit on your own without getting spam that I will have to spend time removing. Shoot me an email or leave a comment on the shopping list page if you want to add something to the list. It is at the top of his page, or you can just click here.

If you have a great sale/surprise on an item and want me to feature you and your listings just drop me an email with your info. I am looking for things we all could find at a sale, not a rare special edition or impossible to find antique.
This is dated 1980, and is Yoda from Star Wars. I LOVE IT! In 1980 I was in kindergarten. I remember wearing these kinds of costumes. The plasic is heavy and thick compared to today's versions. The masks were hard to see out of & were held on with elastic that pulled your hair. It is funny the little things you remember from childhood. I can stand confused in the grocery store, not remembering what I came in there to get but I remember the way the plastic smelled when you tried to breathe in the masks 30 + years ago.

Why is he blue? The Yodas I see when I do a quick Google search are green. I will have to do a little more digging, but I suspect that next Halloween he will be worth much more than the $2 she paid for him.

Today was thrift store day. They had bagged up a lot of Winter items into 33 gallon trash bags. For $1 a bag. No way to resist that! Plus all the kids clothes were a quarter. This store is on the second floor with a huge staircase leading up to it. Ugh. Do you know how heavy 33 gallon bags of clothes are? I resorted to rolling the bags down. We crammed 8 huge bags into the car. I kept maybe 30 things. A NWT $90 coat, a NWT $40 skirt, some jeans for my kids & a few more things for eBay. Ugh that still leaves 8 pretty full bags of stuff. Perfectly good nice usable items. There are so many it took us at least an hour to go through all of the bags.

I don't like to waste anything but I do not have the space to hold that many bags of items. I promptly contacted a friend that sells on consignment. If she does ok with these I am going to start sending her a lot of things to sell. Many, many things lol.

While I was trying to decide what to do with all of those bags my phone made the best offer sound the eBay app makes. I went running to check on it. It was an offer on the Chicago Bulls Hat. Sold for $44.99! Happy dance!

I work this weekend but I wanted you to know I read all of the comments about making a seller list. I will begin as soon as I get some time off. Thinking about a simple way to make a page that allows anyone to add to it. You are welcome to email me or comment with suggestions. I know I want it organized by category if possible. I am hoping to feature some of your surprise or "wow" sales then add those to the list also. It would be a great way to let all of us see what you are selling.
Now for the big question. I am considering making a "watch for" list for my readers, maybe divided by categories if there is any interest. It is too much extra work if you aren't. Mine would just be the usual common yard sale items that sell, not the super-rare stuff I could never find anyway. Would you read/use/add to this if I make one?

29 Items Listed Today + Recent Sales

So 268 items in the store now. That number won't last long as I have two best offers pending that I will likely accept. If the kids and my sore arm let me I want to do at least that many listings tomorrow.
I have now sold 2 of the plush items from the estate auction. Pepe Le Pew for $17.99 & Shrek Fiona for $17.99. I also accepted a best offer for the fishing hat, $8. He threatened negative feedback in the payment memo if he doesn't like how I pack so that may not end well. But I have now paid for everything I bought that day and still have the tubs of cookware and Revere Ware to get listed.

I was super happy with these. Sandwich glass tumblers $29.99 & Kenneth Cole purse $20. I had nothing in the glass as it was part of a box lot long since paid for and the purse was $2.

Oh and here is one crazy sale - not mine - that I saw being discussed on the eBay boards. It is a Harley Davidson vintage key chain that sold for a whopping $191! Wow! I learn something new every day.
I have a ton of items to list. I still have one Disney animal and two tubs of Revere Ware from the estate auction to list. A shed and a garage full of glass to list. It would be crazy for me to keep shopping. Yet Mama & I hit up the local thrift yesterday anyway. Again. We just have so much fun together that I can't say no. Plus it supports a local charity. They are getting rid of Winter items so they can put out the Spring/Summer stuff. There were $0.25 tubs of clothing, and $0.50 jeans. A whole rack of men's dress shirts for $0.50 each. 3 large sacks and 3 very large trash bags full later I am feeling guilty plus surrounded by stuff! But I have Columbia! Nike! Patagonia! Gap! American Eagle! Abercrombie! 2 jars of old glass marbles & shooters! (that I always buy but know nothing about) A microwave turntable. A couple of mugs. Whew!

I am off this weekend and am going to wear my fingers out listing. I have just 241 items in the store as of this morning.

I bought one thing I am keeping. After looking it up I discovered that it isn't worth anything to anyone but me. I am not disappointed at all as it was just $2 & I am in LOVE with the thing. It is an old D5W Abbott Laboratories IV bottle. It is small, holding just 300mls. There is old tape residue on the side I haven't cleaned off yet. I think it is a cool item, but nurses are weirdos.

I am linking up with Apron Thrift Girl for Thrift Share Monday.

You are just more knowledgeable about the things you like. But hey, I have bills lol. So every box load of <strike>mess</strike> <strike>junk</strike> <strike>crap</strike> treasures I end up with at auctions gets a quick check on eBay. EVERYTHING. It never ceases to amaze me what people will buy.

In my last post I mentioned I bought a room of toys. I bought it for the plush Disney toys that were in there. There was a box of old hats in a corner. I had the whole thing in the "discard" pile until I spied a bull horn sticking out. Chicago Bulls? Hmm. I don't know a lot about sports but hey I can learn. I grabbed my laptop and started searching. This is a pic of my hat:

I said ARE YOU KIDDING ME? about 3 times lol. Here are a few recent sales links from completed auctions. Some new, some not.

I kind of guessed at a price on those three and added the best offer option. I have sold enough toys to pay for everything in that auction lot now, so whatever price I get after selling fees will be profit.
A table full of pots and pans for $35 was first. Most of it looks to be Revere ware. There were two blue Le Creuset skillets in there too. I am not sure what else. I haven't gotten to it yet but there are two huge plastic totes full & we should do well. The second lot was the contents of a child's toy room. I wanted it because I spied several plush Disney character toys. I paid $50 for about 6 boxes of stuff plus the Fisher Price play kitchen. Before I got it packed some nice lady offered me $10 for two items that I didn't really want anyway. This left me just $40 in the red. Thanks, lady!

When I got home and started pulling out what I could sell on eBay & throwing away the trash there was a huge Meeko raccoon, a Shrek, Shrek Donkey, Princess Fiona, & a Warner Bros Pepe La Pew. There is also a Playskool 3 color changing flashlight like this. I nearly threw away a box of hats but at the last second looked them up and WHOA! (Post on this to come soon.)

What to do with the other stuff that was left? I no longer have a flea market booth. It costs too much, and is too much work to maintain. We had a lot of theft from our booth as well. Most of the time I don't miss it but it was a great place to dump items too nice to throw away but not worth enough to eBay. (or too big to ship easily.)

My little town has a couple of very popular Facebook groups for selling and trading. I feel this is safer than Craigslist because I know nearly everyone that ends up buying from me. But I have sold on Craigslist before and will again I am sure. On our little Facebook group a lot of the items are at yard sale prices. That is fine with me I just want rid of this stuff. So far today I have sold these things:

I sold them cheap, I am out of storage room & I just want it gone. They went for a combined total of $31. I am just $9 shy of getting my money back on the lot. I still have several things to sell locally plus I haven't listed any of the things that I bought for eBay yet. I will be a very happy seller if I can make another $9 locally and start those listings owing nothing but eBay fees.

Underwear is one of the things I have been reluctant to discuss on here. It is a little awkward to shop for at auctions and estate sales. But old ladies seem to ALWAYS have a big old drawer of square nylon panties. They know they aren't made like that anymore so they hang on to them.

If you aren't totally grossed out by the thought of vintage underwear check out this eBay link & hang on to your hat. They are EXPENSIVE. Look at how well they sell! They are often $2-3 for a box of bloomers at estate sales in my little town. Nobody wants to be seen buying used panties so they are fairly easy to find. If you want to give it a go look for well known brands like Vanity Fair, Kayser, Sans Souci, Olga, Vasserette etc. You want to look for nylon, lace, and sheer.

I listed two pair today for $12.99 each and they sold within minutes. This tells me my pricing was way too low. That is ok - I had nothing in them. I have never been brave enough to list them as high as those in the link I posted. I want them to hurry up and sell before one of y'all sees them and tells me you are going to tell my grandma. Nanny may be in her 80's but if she knew I was selling somebody's drawers in front of everybody she would shake her yardstick at me like she did when I was a girl. She never did anything but shake it at us kids but that was enough to get us to get us to behave.

I received this comment today from Julie at No Money Mama:

I've recently found some Chaleur & Starbucks mugs. I haven't listed them yet because I'm afraid to pack them up. I don't think I know how to do it properly. Can you tell me how you pack your mugs to make sure they make it to their new homes in one piece?

To me the most important thing to remember when packing anything is that the item should not move when shaken, and should not touch the sides of the box. If the item is fragile I usually double box. I wrap foam wrap sheets or bubble wrap around it and box in a little box. Then put that box inside a larger box with cushioning around it on all four sides. That is how I shipped the Watt Batman Grain rooster mug. I have seen one of my packages thrown from the postal worker across the room into the shipping bin like a free-throw basketball shoot. I nearly fainted! It definitely made an impact on my packaging. If they were willing to do that in front of me what happens when no one is looking?

I cushion with whatever I have available at the time, peanuts, air pillows, tissue paper, bubble wrap, foam sheets, thick foam (similar to mattress toppers). I rarely have anything arrive damaged, & never a mug. I hope this helps, & let us know how your sales go!

Ice Cream Freezer: A Minute On The Lips, A Lifetime On The Hips!

Picked this one up for $5. Of course I really want an old wood ice cream maker with a crank handle. I have fond memories of cranking "forever" as a kid. But at over $100 that's a pretty expensive bowl of ice cream! Maybe I will luck into one at a yard sale this year. My Mamaw Lee's specialty was homemade Butterfinger ice cream. My favorite is just plain old vanilla, or in the winter snow cream - YUM!

This one will likely end up for sale. But not until I have a bowl or two :)
It was pouring rain and cold so I didn't get up. About 10am I noticed that the seller was posting on Facebook that it was rain or shine. I piled the kids in the car and went, expecting it to be completely picked over. It was. I still managed to get a tupperware hamburger patty maker, a pair of Doc Martins, two pairs of name brand jeans, 6 bracelets, two star wars talking helmets for the kids. All for $8.75! (No time for pics today, I have to leave for work soon. Sorry.)

Did you buy anything today?
