MPC Renaissance is the much-anticipated merging of a premium MPC with a computer. MPC Note Repeat, classic transport controls and other traditional MPC functions allow music production directly from the MPC Renaissance hardware controller itself, without touching the computer. Users can connect a turntable directly to MPC Renaissance to record samples straight from vinyl and monitor the input using the built-in LEDs with clip indicator. Functions like piano roll editing, track editing, and audio editing, can all be done on the computer if desired.

Because MPC Renaissance utilizes the RAM and hard drive space of the attached computer, it is only limited by what the user has installed. Thanks to its tight integration with software, MPC Renaissance can be used with high-end features of computer DAWs and plug-ins. DAW users who want to add real-time triggering of drums, loops, chops and samples using genuine MPC pads with their computer can do so easily.

Users of earlier MPCs can easily migrate all of their previous work to MPC Renaissance. Programs and Samples from previous MPCs can be brought into new MPC Renaissance Programs via the MPC software. Filmed with 20 cameras at a headline show at Japan’s very own Glastonbury – Fujirock Festival – Don’t Think is the first time the full Chemical Brothers’ live experience has been captured on film. Directed by long-term visuals collaborator Adam Smith this full-length concert movie places cameras in the centre of the stage as well as at the very heart of the crowd to perfectly capture a fan’s eye view of the heightened emotional reactions of the audience seeing the band at their very best.

During the film, Smith takes advantage of one of the most unique festival settings in the world when he follows selected audience members away from the stage and out into the natural environment. Then, by adding avant-garde magic realist moments where trippy visuals leave the screens and invade the open spaces of the festival, Don’t Think undergoes a transformation from concert film to fully immersive document of one of the most mind-bendingly psychedelic live shows ever seen. With an extensive global cinema run, the film offers audiences a powerful alternative to the reduced circumstances of watching gig footage on You Tube clips and mobile phone screens.

Shot on location on Sunday July 31st 2011, Don’t Think is the first concert film to feature glorious Dolby 7:1, surround sound, mixed for the big screen by the band themselves. It is due to be shown on more than 500 screens in over 20 territories from 1st February 2012 (3rd February U.K) . I have been rocking the minors for a few months now and I would have to say they are great headphones! They fit comfortably on the outside of the ear and seem to hold better than most ear buds. They have some good sound as well. The only issue I had with them is that they didn’t have a volume control on them.. but no more. Coldplay’s fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto (pronounced my-lo zy-letoe), will be released on 24^th October on Parlophone Records. Produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson, with enoxification and additional composition by Brian Eno, Mylo Xyloto follows 2008’s Viva La Vida, which charted at No. 1 in 36 countries, including the UK and USA.

Mylo Xyloto will be released in digital, CD and vinyl formats. The 180-gram vinyl edition will include a 12” x 36” poster. A special limited edition Pop-Up Album version will also be available, which will include a 12″ x 12″ hardback book containing graffiti pop-up art designed by David A. Carter, vinyl, CD and exclusive content including photographs, excerpts from the studio diary and the band’s personal notebooks.

Sharing mixes online using services like Soundcloud, Rapidshare, or Yousendit  has never been easier. Today I came across a new service called Legitmix while checking out the Mad Decent website. The concept is that you upload your mix to the site and it scans through and finds all the songs. Based on what songs are in the mix it comes up with a price for the mix. Now everyone will get a cut from mixtapes including Labels, artists, and of course Legitmix too.. Sounds good right? Well I will ask you this question. Who will honestly pay for a mixtape? I know I wouldn’t. With mixes so readily available on blogs, file sharing networks, and of course in the streets through CDs. Well.. Maybe I would if it was a really great artist like Diplo( checkout his latest Mixtape MAD LEGIT). Well guess what!? MAD DECENT is among the first partners of LEGITMIX. Looks like Legitmix has played their cards right so far, we’ll see how things work out in the future for them. But I do like the concept and it’s definitely a new way to look at putting out mixtapes. The Good Natured – Wolves (Crystal Fighters Remix) by Crystal Fighters

The Good Natured, who have gained fervent support from blogs (top 10 searched artists on Hype Machine), right through to broadsheets (“Swirling exciting Synth pop” The Times) and radio support from Huw Stephens, Jo Wiley and Nick Grimshaw have been remixed by Crystal Fighters on new single ‘Wolves’.

Starting off in familiar Crystal Fighters’ Basque-folk-gone-electro territory, the remix soon breaks down to throbbing, escapist electro pop, with Sarah McIntosh’s vocals reminding the listener that this is feral, sensual pop music, made for the head and heart.

The Good Natured consists of Sarah McIntosh; the songwriter and front-woman; George on drums and her brother Hamish McIntosh on bass. The songs feature on the recent ‘Skeleton EP’ Sarah displays her compellingly mature command of the nuances of serious pop music, combined with the darker, and often more sensual, emotional and lyrical content of the Gothic. Both ‘Skeleton’ and ‘Wolves’ are produced by Patrik Berger, known for his work with Robyn.

A friends of my recently told me about an iPhone app called i Doser. This app uses a technology called binaural beats to achieve drug-like effects without actually taking drugs. It is basically just an MP3 file that you listen to and get high. They have everything from weed to LSD. I have not personally tried this but it sounds a little crazy/dangerous. It sounds a little bit like mind control to me and I have read reports that extended use of them can be damaging to your health. They can actually mix these beats with regular music in a way that you don’t know that your listening to it. Read this how to article here. This got me thinkning that a DJ could easily drop some binaural beats into a set without you even knowing.. How many times have I i Dosed without even knowing it? If they can design beats to make you high then what else can they design them to do? I don’t recommend the use of any of these products I just thought the topic was interesting. I am curious has anyone used this before, please leave a comment with your experiences.
