Teleport WordPress Plugin

From time to time, we’ve developed custom WordPress themes and plugins for our clients. As well, we’re big fans of WordPress so sometimes we just want to give back to that open source community. Our Teleport plugin was one such project!

Have you ever wanted to edit a page or post in WordPress and been frustrated at not being able to search and find the post? How about just being able to add a new post easily? How about just being able to find the login page easily?

Teleport is a wicked cool little menu for your self-hosted WordPress blog that pops up when you want it to simply by clicking “w”. Other keyboard shortcuts include:

e – (Edit) Edit current post/page
d – (Dashboard) Redirects to the Dashboard
s – (Settings) Redirects to the Settings page
a – (Archive) Redirects to Posts/Pages/Custom Post Types
q – (Quit) Logs the current user out / Redirects to Log In page
w – Open or Close Teleporter
esc – Closes the Teleporter

The plugin doesn’t do anything to bypass security… it’s simply a navigation element to get directly to the administrative pages within WordPress to do what you need. If you’re not logged in, it just brings you directly to the login screen, then forwards you to the page you were looking to get to.

One of the partner companies we’ve been working with for a long time is Dittoe PR, an Indianapolis-based Public Relations firm. Whether it’s writing and distributing the best press release ever, or helping our clients with acquiring traditional media, large online media and other outreach mentions – they nail it. They work hard and they care about their clients. We loved developing the Dittoe PR site – it’s quite different than most PR sites. This week we gave it a little bit of a facelift and also helped with their email sign-up design (be sure to sign up!). We’ll be integrating some videos they’ve also done here soon!

A Night to Remember Prom

Every once in a while we get to help out someone or do something special for a group. Last month we helped out A Night To Remember and it turned into an amazing event.

A Night to Remember is a FREE Prom honoring students with Special Needs ages 14-22 yrs. old. It’s more than a Prom…it’s an experience! Our Honored Guests get hair/make-up done, limo rides, and walk down the Red Carpet complete with paparazzi before entering the dance/dinner. It’s also a night of integration – as each student with special needs is partnered up with a San Diego high school student who serves as their host.

The team at DK New Media and Angie’s List did an amazing job scouring through all the incredible content Angie’s List had produced to build out this ebook. iSocket Sales Sheets

Our design team continues to knock it out of the park and has been a growing business segment for us. iSocket is a self service advertising platform we’ve deployed on our marketing blog that allows advertisers to add and manage their banner advertisements. We simply accept/reject the ads and collect the funds – it’s that simple. iSocket also delivers custom packages for large advertisers wishing to buy advertisements across a multitude of relevant sites. It’s a great platform and they’re great folks to work with. We recently designed these sales sheets for printing with their advertising team.

Pinnacle Partners Recruitment and Staffing

I often joke that when people come to see us it’s because their online marketing is broken. With Pinnacle Partners, a well-established and respected Indianapolis Recruiting Agency, it was a bit of an understatement. They were literally left with a site that they could not update and would not function. With job seekers and job applicants moving online, this wasn’t a good position to be in. We were able to build a very customized suite for Pinnacle to add job postings, take applications, and route them to the appropriate recruitment manager. And we did it all with out of the box integrations within WordPress. If you’re a talented individual seeking a job with a great company, be sure to apply on their site!

DK New Media Selected for Visual.ly Marketplace

Visual.ly is a fantastic site where companies share their infographics. DK New Media has been sharing the infographics that we’ve designed there… over 20 to date! Recently, Visual.ly opened up their own marketplace and a select few designers were invited to join – and we made the cut!

This is quite an achievement given the hundreds of fantastic infographic design firms that are out there. Our success has largely been thanks to our deep research, the incredible product management and ideation that Jenn puts together, as well as the fantastic talent of the designers we have working on our infographics.

WordPress Social Reader Launched

When one of our clients, Mindjet, asked if we could integrate a social reader into Facebook for their award-winning blog, Conspire, we looked all over the web to find one. The problem was that all we could find were custom developers… not platforms.

If you’re not familiar with a Social Reader, it has some fairly nice features. When you read the articles, the application posts that you’re reading it in your activity feed. If others click to read it, they add the application and people in their networks see the activity. The result, if you have great content, is that your content is shared through relevant networks of people throughout Facebook!

As a result, we decided to partner with my good friend Adam Small. Adam has a real estate marketing platform with some really incredible Facebook integration. Within a couple of weeks, we had our reader! The development was honestly the easy part… the approval process with Facebook was the tough part! In fact, we’re still working to get the applications added to the Facebook App Center.

We’ve launched the Conspire Social Reader as our first client on the platform and the Marketing Technology Blog Social Reader as the second!

We’re going to continue working on the templating in the system and fine-tuning the platform, getting it ready to go public. We’re going to offer the social reader for any enterprise WordPress platform. If you’re interested – simply contact us.

Career Cruisin with DK New Media

On Tueday, November 13th, DK New Media will be participating in the Career Cruisin networking event sponsored in part by the Girls Scouts of Central Indiana, Kappa Delta, and Conner Prairie Interactive History Park from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. This event serves to connect girls from ages 11 and above to real world innovative career exploration and the women in those industries. Representing DK New Media, Marketing Consultant and Client Advocate, Jenn Lisak and her marketing intern, Meen Boriboune, will be participating in this event to provide additional information about careers in the realms of marketing, technology, and new media. This educational information will engage and inspire the younger generation of girls to be on the right path on fulfilling her potential to be in the science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (S.T.E.M.) fields.
