Josh Legg’s current solo project, Goldroom, gives new meaning to a summertime soundscape. Calling his music “an amalgamation of dreamy synths, emotive vocals, and tropical disco grooves, Goldroom paints the soundscape of summertime in Los Angeles.” As a part of a remix EP for Owl Eyes, today we are given Goldroom's unique edit of her single “Jewels & Sapphires.” Taking the original tune, Goldroom turns the track into a dreamlike melody with the made-for-dancefloor seal of approval. Infused with soulful vibes from start to finish, Goldroom seamlessly pairs Owl Eyes' smoothly light vocals with a deep tropical house persuasion making for another track worthy of a gold medal.

Losfelt's oddly chilling voice stands out with swirling, minimalistic effects and beats to back it up. Partnering up with Andrea Moonchild, who recently released Cruising, the two artists make up the start to their newly founded record label called Moose Records. Their aim more or less is to have artists under their label vibe these types of chill and mellow sounds. Given that Dream Koala and Bear//Face are under this record label, that might give you a hint of their future path.

So what type of chill and mellow sounds does Losfelt has to offer? Cue up her latest tune, "Away" demonstrating that not one, but both of the co-founders of Moose Records have plenty of game to back themselves up. "Away" revolves around Losfelt's innocent sounding vocals with organic-feeling, minimalistic beats in the background. Modest guitar loops and ambient effects are interwoven between the layers as her singing takes us away to the clouds and above.

The UK’s Karma Kid has been building an impressive CV over the last few months with fresh originals, unique edits, and some seriously funky guest mixes. This past weekend the 18-year-old wunderkind took over the decks on Monki’s BBC Radio 1 show. Known as an underground tastemaker championing new electronic talent, Monki brought Sam Knowles into the studio for an extra special guest mix. Take a 30-minute drive with Karma Kid through hills alive with soul, created melodically by his musical repertoire. With the likes of Soul Central, James Welsh, Issac Tichauer, Chris Malinchak and Justin Timberlake on deck, the mix is a rich sonic celebration of summer-spirited sounds. As Karma Kid continues to blaze on a pioneering path this mix will leave you dancing and feeling good.

Music seems to be going through a wave of darker themes, as evident from both the electronic and hip hop worlds. Of course happy-go-lucky music will always be bumping at every party, but it just seems like 2010's (as a decade) might be a transitional period in which the music world juggles both styles.

With this, more serious themes beyond just the good times can be exposed, and bring awareness to some of the pain and problems in our society. Rapper/Producer MR gives us a dose of reality with his new mixtape, My Rhymes Vol. 1 : Da Monster & Me. It's a dark look into the struggle of the class system in the US, and a heavy one-two punch for those of us pretending that everything is sex, drugs, and rock n' roll (well, rap in this case), all the time. While nowhere near as radical as some artists have gotten, it's more of a venture into the struggles we might wish we didn't have to know about. Ignorance is bliss, but MRI uses his talent to break that barrier down. Highlights of the mixtape include "God Knows" and "That's Life 2.0," and all of the tracks are available on Datpiff.

Recently rebranding themselves under a more thoughtful, laidback and electronic pop-leaning sound, is something that’s making their old fans revisit their music and more importantly setting their music apart from the mode of the current dance music scene. While not forgetting or ignoring their past of dance floor-rushers, their new style is a refreshing one that’s gotten them some heads turned, including ours. Drew and Alex’s latest remix is that of fellow New York group Say Lou Lou’s “Julian,” and is their best yet.

Given the three artists who make up Wax Triptych, it is only natural to wonder what a triptych even is. Well, according to Merriam-Webster, a triptych can be either "an ancient Roman writing tablet with three waxed leaves hinged together," modernly interpreted into visuals like this one, or, "something composed or presented in three parts or sections." So, given that Wax Triptych maintain an image and sound that is based around the idea of three distinct parts, it makes perfect sense why they decided to use triptych as part of their name.

Wax Triptych, the collective of Jenova 7, Mr. Woods, and Mononome, craft old-school instrumental trip-hop that hinges together the influences of where the three producers are from (the United States, Canada and Greece). Releasing a 9-track mood-altering album for Dusted Wax Kingdom (the consistently excellent A Tale Of 3 Heads) Wax Triptych are three "musicheads" who understand the many moving parts necessary to make grade-A instrumentals.

"Moonlight Vibe" is perhaps the A Tale Of 3 Heads' highlight, as it manages to blend the allure of Portishead, the magical enthusiasm of early RJD2, and somehow the blues rock swagger of a Grand Funk Railroad. It can seemingly coexist as a backdrop for a cut from the German indie band The Notwist, with its percussion-heavy futurism, and also as the anthem to some steam punk future where people have forgotten how to sing.

"Streetwise" carries the top-shelf instrumentality in "Moonlight Vibe" into a quieter confidence. Containing a sound much like a Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth sample for a Battlestar Galactica convention, "Streetwise" has a sly infectiousness that should appeal to any music buff.

Those looking for a mellow groove can tap into "Private Eye." While there are still enough scratches, hypnotic brass sounds, and relaxed hi-hats to keep up the pace of the rest of album, it all gets stripped down into a comforting pool of private dimensions. For the movie junkies, a clip of Bruce Willis' dialog from 12 Monkeys is also featured.

Anyone looking for something beyond the standard fare, will find themselves in a trippy wonderland with Wax Triptych. The future is bright for the trio. Check out the rest of A Tale Of 3 Heads on BandCamp.

About two weeks ago, BBC Radio 1's In New DJ's We Trust started out the hour long program with one of the hottest songs to come out of Europe this year. It set the energetic mood of the show, and I needed to know who and what I was hearing the minute my brain registered how perfect this track was.

Luckily, a quick look on the radio channel's site, as well as the host's adorably accented introduction to the show, seemed to point their finger at Paris based kid genius, French Fries. The South American producer/DJ has been making a name for himself since the tender age of 14, and now at twenty, is the co-founder of ClekClekBoom Records, which is the label this terrific song “T.R.A.X.X.” will be released on. This track also features the Auckland duo, Chaos in the CBD.

<iframe width="592" height="340" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/UsWYZVSjeJw?&rel=0&version=3&enablejsapi=1&theme=dark&modestbranding=1&hd=1&autohide=1&color=white&showinfo=0"frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>

A little research (AKA Google Translate on the label and artist's respective Facebook pages) seems to show that the only place that currently carries the white label is Techno Import in Paris, France. However, ClekClekBoom does plan an international release on the 27th of this month, so those outside of Europe will still have a chance at getting the 12". This is a white label release only, and as difficult as it has been to find information on the track, I know that as soon as I can get my hands on a copy in the US, I'll be the first in line to get it (or at least try).

French Fries will be making his presence known in August, when the amazing lineup to this year's Hard Summer Music Festival comes to life in downtown Los Angeles. Chaos in the CBD will be in Europe in June.

Chicago's Smith Westerns have carved out a fair share of space in the indie market, possessing a sound that is shaped from infusing contemporary indie styles with influences that range from David Bowie to the 90's brit pop scene. Having released two previews of their forthcoming album Soft Will, the follow up to 2011's critically acclaimed Dye It Blonde, it is apparent that they have further developed their sound, focusing on melodic and harmonic elements in place of the lo-fi appeal they previously displayed. All the while Smith Westerns have continually drawn in audiences with a dream-like style that most recently gained the attention of the public with "Varsity".

While Smith Westerners tasked themselves with the heavy burden of following up "Varsity", their newest release "3am Spiritual" takes on a different yet equally appealing shape. Kicking off with grounded indie rock momentum, from the first time that the catchy guitar chorus and chants chime in "3am Spiritual" takes hold and builds to its high point. A subtle transition then mellows the tone, showcasing precisely executed instrumentals that stick to a clear path before they fade out.

In order to paint a clearer image of what to expect when Soft Will drops on June 25th via Mom+Pop we recommend checking out the music video for "Varsity", which strives to capture the experience of young love.

Fehrplay, the Norwegian born now London living artist also known as Jonas von der Fehr, demonstrates again why he may be Pryda & Friends most notable emerging talent. It’s been a long road since 2009, when his his first acclaimed track, “Meow”, was picked up by Ministry of Sound, giving him a foothold in what has become an undeniably cutthroat industry. Fast forward to 2013: now with a number of releases under his belt, like January’s noteworthy “I Can’t Stop It”, Fehrplay finally returns for a full length exclusive of his newest song, “Phantom”.

We first heard a tease of the tune back in January on Above & Beyond’s fan-favorite radio show, Group Therapy, a foreshadowing of future releases Fehrplay has in store for Anjuna’s 2013 season. One can’t deny the track’s “Pjanoo” vibe, something that can be found in many of his works and explains his unquestionable connection to the Pryda sub-label. Swirling piano melodies engulf a listener, while "Phantom" only rises farther into the heavens through airy builds and legato synth lines. Take a listen to the full track below and read on for an interview about Fehr's past, present, and future.

Interview

Earmilk: Was electronic the first genre you worked with, or did you start off with something more traditional?

Fehrplay: I started playing the piano at a very young age, and got my first computer and simple music production software at around the age of 12. In the beginning I was more into Trance, but progressed over to house music over the years. I'v always done loads of electronica music on the side as well.

EM: Can you name some artists who really inspired you to pursue a career in music? What about their sound spoke to you?

FP: Hm I think at a early age it was stars like Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, that really got me hooked on music in general. But its was acts like Axwell, Eric Prydz and Joris Voorn among others, that really made me want to pursue a career in house music.

EM: Deciding to sign with Pryda Friends stands as a major turning point in your career. What do you think you learned from this label that you couldn’t learn anywhere else?

FP: I think getting to sign to Pryda friends is an huge honor, and I feel completely free to make whatever feels me right, which I think is very special this days. I have an opportunity to focus on my own sound, rather than following whats cool. I work very closely with the label and I'm learning about the mechanics of the industry too which I find very interesting; there is so much that goes on behind the scenes to work and build a record that people don't really see.

EM: Do you get to work with Eric Prydz at all? If so, how has that experience been?

FP: Yes, we have been in the studio together, and we send a few ideas back and forth. It has been awesome. And I pay very close attention to every single detail hehe..

EM: If you had to pick a few of your releases as your favorites, which ones would you choose and why?

FP: I think "Slab" and "Runaway" are my favorites. Just because they are a bit different. And I love the melody. "Runaway" always goes really nice in a club. Even though it has a quite untraditional breakdown of violins and pianos. "Slab" is the perfect set-end track for me; chilled and happy!

EM: What was the inspiration behind “Phantom”? It has a very “Pjanoo” kind of vibe.

FP: Obviously a lot of Eric's tracks. He's the master of piano prog house. And I just wanted to take some of that influences and make it my own.

EM: Are there any venues at which you still dream about playing?

FP: Yes. I used to live in Manchester and go the 'Warehouse project'. Just the craziest atmosphere ever. It's always been a goal to play there one day!

EM: Do you have any upcoming releases that you might be able to give us a little extra information on?

FP: Yes. I've already got lined up my next release, that might include more than one track. This time I'm going back to the more deeper aspects like my previously release "Nightride". I am very excited about this release!

EM: On a similar note, do you plan to experiment in any other genres in the near future? If you had to produce something outside the house genres, what would you like to try?

FP: Oh yes definitely, I do all the time. Everything from Ambient, hip hop beats to drum & bass. It would be cool to release something different like this one day.

EM: Where do you hope to see yourself in a year? In 5?

FP: Good question. I think its very hard to answer. But I would like to see me doing the same thing I'm doing now, and enjoying it just as much.

EM: So far, what has been the most rewarding experience of your career?

FP: Definitely signing with Pryda Friends, but also to travel America and do gigs around the country has been an incredible experience.

EM: Thanks for your time and good luck with the rest of 2013!

It's not often that we are exposed to a song that can cause a pause in a busy day to sit back and marvel in the tranquility that eludes from its core. While there is a sense of mystique that surrounds Still Parade, who have yet to develop an online presence, after one listen of their debut song "Actors" it becomes clear that their intention is to create an identity through their music. Throughout "Actors" they allow the subtle acoustic presence of lightly plucked guitars and harmonious vocals paint a picture of who they are, and where they are going.

As a preview of a debut album that is nearly three years in the making, "Actors" draws major influence from folk, with underlying transitional guitar tones and drawn out vocals supporting a bleak, yet somewhat optimistic message rooted within the lyrical content. Still Parade also introduce a new dimension to traditional folk by adding the support of evolving electronic textures to provide progression. Overall "Actors" gives off a feeling a journey, where even though the original motivation that inspired the trip was left unexplored, a realization from yearning to return to the comfort of home evolved to become the trips focal point.

Because of the subtle, yet palpable feeling that protrudes when listening to "Actors", accurately depicting the raw emotion is a difficult task. However, Still Parade accomplish the feat through Simon Bitterli's fading images of a color-infused liquid that changes shape as it sinks through what appears to be water.

<iframe width="592" height="340" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/womKfatkPeM?&rel=0&version=3&enablejsapi=1&theme=dark&modestbranding=1&hd=1&autohide=1&color=white&showinfo=0"frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>

If "Actors" is an indicator of what to expect on Still Parade's debut full length we should be in for something special.

Whatever you're doing, Greedhead signed rapper Le1f, is probably doing it better. This becomes more and more obvious in his music videos, when his aggression, swagger, and overall badassery take over the screen. Since his past two mixtapes, Dark York and Fly Zone, he hasn't yet shown any signs of slowing down, and has now released "Spa Day."

In this song, he brings his unique style and sound yet again, and creates a day at the spa that is probably unlike anything anyone's actually experienced. While anyone new to Le1f will probably need a minute just to comprehend what happened in the video, those of us that have become fans will be glad to know that the man is back, and bringing back his intense flow with him. The video also features fellow Greedhead members, such as Himanshu "Heems" (also the labelhead) and Lakutis.

Le1f has a series of 'Spa Days' in Europe and Australia, starting in June, which is sure to be an exciting set of performances.

Suicide Sundaes - Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen, Sunday is back. Greg and Thom are here to bring you the week's dirty servings, and some old favorites through a throwdown-throwback to simpler times. A time when bangers were big, remixes were bigger, the bassline bled, and we didn't care about anything as long as came in kicking and left screaming.

Hang on to your seat because Greg and I have gathered a massive and brutal selection for this week's Suicide Sundae. Why? Just for you to satisfy this hunger for music and to get ready for the week ahead. Sprinkles will get you up on your feet, and Scoops will leave you dancing and screaming like there's no tomorrow. Don't forget the Streams section too, which holds a bit of everything. Ready?

Owl Vision's coming back at us this week with a deep and heavy remix of Ghost's "Monstrance Clock". GRVBBRS is bringing us a great glitchy/grimmy track "Higher", this one has Justice written all over it. Ryan Riot is remixing The Other Tribe's "We Should Be Dancing" and it's going to cause you to want to start dancing (go figure). It'll be pretty hard to not tap your feet and bob your head to this one. Zomboy's "Here to Stay" (ft Lady Chann) is being remixed by Geometry as well as a version by Aylius, and they're both huge bangers, the kind you could easily blow your speakers with if you aren't careful (and that is definitely a good thing). Drivepilot's bringing the trash back with his remix of the already heavy banger, Black Tiger Sex Machine - "Destroy It". Also part of this week's selection are tracks from Moustache Machine, Myndset, Kastra, Savant, Andy's iLL, Beef Theatre, Kiely Rich and much more.

And don't forget, if you're a producer and you want to see if your music has what it takes to be on Suicide Sundaes, submit your mp3s to our SoundCloud Group. We'll take a listen and include the best tracks. Please submit only one or two tracks at a time (320 kbps mp3s) and please try to keep the tracks limited to what you may hear on one of our SS posts (ie. no hip-hop, trap, etc.).

Suicide Sundaes Soundcloud Group

Enjoy.

Here's a paradox for you: How do you buy into the slacker musician craze that's been popular for 40-plus years now while being a 24/7 hustler behind closed doors in a time when it's becoming harder to make a living as a musician (or rapper)? You do what Chicago Joey Purp's done and give the people equal shots of "I Do Care" and "I Don't Care." Leave it up the public to make it personas, Purp is all about hip-hop. Part of the SaveMoney crew, Joey does things according to his own sense of dope.

A 1 minute-and-a-half long single? Why not?

Clouded leopard print legwarmers? You have the balls to rock them?

More love given to a naked puss than a girl? A dude's more than just his play, ain't he?

Paired with another hip-hop stalwart in Thelonious Martin, who also plays by his own rules, Purp gives Chicago hip-hop another dimension. Sure, he does the tired hip-hop thing of comparing himself to criminals it makes no sense to put yourself next to - Joseph Kony & John Wayne Gacy, who both have killed kids - but he's mostly a level-headed emcee with enough zaniness to feel fresh. In a lot of ways - it could just be the hair - he's like the Joakim Noah of Chicago's rap scene.

His ceiling is sky-high, almost as much as Martin's heavenly wailing-heavy cut. Now it's up to Purp to juggle the slacker/blue collar work ethic well enough and for long enough to get there.

Kanye West solidifies himself as one of the most creative artists of our time with his latest stunt. Today the Chicago native and Grammy winning artist/producer projected his latest song "New Slaves" across the world in 66 cities projecting the video on various buildings throughout each city. Best of all he did this guerilla marketing style meaning no city permits! Salute to Kanye for that; organizing his own semi flash mob on the world. The song is split into two parts the beginning touching on materialism and the strangle hold corporations have on us the consumers. With all the notoriety Kanye receives its assumed big corporations have approached him for endorsements which led him to see through there offers and backlash against corperate America. The second part of the song is subtle with an almost angelic instrumental to close out the latest bomb from Mr. West. With his upcoming album rumored to be titled I am God We can only expect him to up the ante in all ways possible. Watch a recording of his projection in Williamsberg below.

Following the challenges, tribulations and enlightenment Gilbere has experience over the last year and a half, PRAY is a turning point for the artist as it is the final chapter to his trilogy which includes 87 Dreams and Eyes of Veritas. The 10-track album has previously been released along with new records with longtime collaborator RAAK who handles the bulk of the production on the tape, with limited guest features include Active Child, De Carlo and Nylo.

In our campaign to discover and shine a spotlight on the best and new producers in the game, we've received some great submissions. Every Friday we'll be doing a roundup of the week to feature the top artists both on Earmilk and Wavo. At the end of every month we'll be releasing the best submissions on a partnering label, where the featured artists will see their tracks hit Beatport and iTunes. This time around we're partnering with Ottawa's Capital Boom Records, and throughout the summer we'll be announcing a number of other labels to release with.

Check out all of the submissions embedded below. Our top three tracks right now come from local producers Slim Signal, Guy Ellis, and Adam Spears.

Slim Signal's track is a well produced, big-room electro banger that received well over a hundred plays on our chart. Huge breakdowns summoning even bigger drops, the duo put together a banging track that reminds us of the Dutch sound. Congrats to Slim Signal for being the top trending track in the first full week of our emerging artist series!

'Stepper' is a great chill-wave, garage-esque track that is currently in second place on the chart. Through some well-done sampling, the vox provide a nice backdrop to the very unique keys, carrying the track quite nicely. Great progression from start to finish, 'stepper' is definitely one of the most unique, standout tracks in the chart.

Finally, Adam Spears returns to the Emerging Artists series. This time our reigning champion dropped us a cool mix, of a old-school house build-up with a fat, banging drop. Great work on the keys, 'The House is Mine' is a nice summer track that has been well-received in our charts.

The series is ongoing! Submit your track to our microsite here: Then get your fans and friends to vote, and get it ranked up in the chart. Our A&R team will be listening and releasing our favourite tracks with full support from Earmilk and our partners. This is an opportunity to launch your career in the music industry and to have your work featured on Earmilk as well as trend on wavo.me's global music charts!

Johnny Rain is a name that not a lot of you will be familiar with at the moment, but it's one you'll be hearing a lot of in the coming months. Coming out of California, Johnny is an R&B artist that adds a whole host of different influences across the musical spectrum, into his tracks. The track I bring to you today is one of the tracks, in my eyes, that best sums up his sound.

"Mullholland Drive, My Abyss" has the edgy synths, over atmospheric drums and pitched down vocals adlib-ing during the chorus. As far as the lyrical content goes, it's in a similar mould to The Weeknd, in the sense that the main topic of the song is girl problems. Whilst his voice seems to carry a Frank Ocean vibe, both in the pitch of his voice and the way in which he sings the melodies. Comparisons aside, Johnny Rain really comes into his own when it comes to the beats he uses. All of the instrumentals, are produced by himself, which is a rare feat in today's industry.

"Mullholland Drive, My Abyss" is taken from Rain's latest project, Lullaby Of Machine, which is available to download completely free over on his Soundcloud. I've also included another one of his tracks below, entitled "iii", which has the same kind of vibe as "Mullholland Drive" but really does showcase the range of his voice. Having already been cosigned and had features from Drake on a few of his tracks, it's clear to see that Johnny Rain has been making waves in the music industry. Keep your eyes and ears locked onto Earmilk for any more new music from Johnny; I have a feeling that 2013 could be a good year for him.
