Combat Boat 90 HI

For peace-keeping missions

Docksta, 9 January 2002: Dockstavarvet has received an important order
from the Swedish Navy to adapt 27 new Combat Boats for international
peace-keeping missions. The order came after comprehensive tests and
trials conducted with two prototypes of the existing Combat Boat 90 H.
The order comprises modifications of the remaining 27 boats in build,
where Dockstavarvet will supply 18 boats and its cooperating partner,
Gotlands Varv, the other 9 units.

"The order is a result of structural changes within the Swedish Armed
Forces with an increased focus on international peace-keeping
activities as well as a demand from the UN to support joint
international missions with personnel and materiel", explains Mr K-A
Sundin, Managing Director of Dockstavarvet.

Strong ballistic protection

The adaptation embraces three areas: personnel protection, BC protection and operation in a "Mediterranean type climate".
The primary protection for personnel and operation includes the wheelhouse,
transport-room and engine-room and will guarantee safety even under the
direct fire of 7.62 mm calibre weapons corresponding to 51 Nato Ball
9.5 gr/830 m/s. The protection cover consists of a plastic material,
some 18mm thick. The Combat Boat 90 HI is also equipped with a diesel
generator and air-conditioning. The closed ventilation system will give
the boat BC protection and the ability to get out of areas of
contamination. The boat weight will increase by 3.8 tons when all 90 m2
have been covered.

In operation

First delivery will take place in February 2002 and the final boats
will be delivered in June 2003. The Swedish peace-keeping force will be
built up during the same period and include all 27 Combat Boats. The
logistics and equipment for transportation of a task force was
delivered last year by Dockstavarvet subsidiary Rind Marine followed
by an extensive test period last autumn.

Bestseller

Since the first delivery of the craft in 1989, the Combat Boat has
proved a success, not only within the Swedish Navy but on three
continents, from Mexico in the west to Sweden, Norway, Greece and
Estonia in Europe, and Malaysia in the east.
The last shipment of 12
units made to Malaysia recently, included delivery of Combat Boat
number 200 x a record which is unique not only in Scandinavia and
Europe, but also worldwide.

Successful repeat order for Pilot Boats to Denmark

Docksta, Sweden 20 February 2002: The Danish Pilotage Authority has placed another order on the successful Dockstavarvet AP 14000 Pilot Boat. This time the order comprises two new boats with an option for further six units. The Authority came back with this repeat order after a successful delivery of 15 Pilot Boats in 1992 to 1997.

"The new order came after a standard tender procedure and is a clear
evidence of our earlier quality deliveries. The option for a further
six units is also welcome and we will do our outmost to satisfy the
stringent customer requirements," explains Mr K-A Sundin, Managing
Director of Dockstavarvet.

The ALUPILOT 14000 is a 13.9 x 4.6 meter semi-displacement all
aluminium craft with a resiliently mounted GRP sandwich deckhouse. The
hulldesign is based on the well known MURRAY CORMACK lines modified for
higher speeds. The arrangement is laid out with an ondeck wheelhouse
with round the horizon visibility and a semi-sunk saloon seating up to
8 pilots. Two Scania DSI 14 diesels rated 390 kW at 1800 rpm, each
connected to a HUNDESTED controllable pitch propeller through a ZF 550
A gearbox, give a speed of 24 knots. Classification is according to the
Special Service Craft Rules of Lloyds Register of Shipping.

The first delivery will take place in October this year and the second boat will be delivered in January 2003.

License production of Combat Boat 90 HMN in Mexico

Docksta, Sweden 6 September 2002: Dockstavarvet has recently concluded another important order from the Mexican Navy for production of the Combat Boat CB 90 HMN in Mexico.

"The order came after joint discussions and this first package includes all parts for the production of four CB 90 HMN", declares Dockstavarvet Managing Director K-A Sundin. "Before delivery of all parts to Mexico, there was an intense eight week training period at the Dockstavarvet Shipyard in Docksta, Sweden. Altogether 10 persons attended the training, which included management, hull construction, fitting out and electrical installation. The training was organized by following the ordinary production of CB 90s. The production on site in Mexico will be supervised by a Dockstavarvet project manager", explains Mr. Sundin.

Successful CB 90 in Mexico

In mid May 2001, Dockstavarvet completed the last delivery of 40 CB 90 HMN for the Mexican Navy to combat illegal drug trafficking in the Caribbean Sea and the Mexican coast of the Pacific Ocean. In addition, Dockstavarvet performed a comprehensive training programme, which started in Sweden and was followed by training on site in Mexico. The Mexican Navy has also ordered ten Base Maintenance systems, including spares and mobile boat lifting systems.

Cutting edge technology

Excellent manoeuvrability and high continuous speed close to 50 knots are key characteristics of the Combat Boat 90 H. The vessels are all aluminium with a reinforced bottom and, by means of a forward bow ramp, powerful landings can be achieved on any type of shore. The Patrol Craft measure 15 metres in length and 3.8 metres in width. They weigh approximately 18 tons, including crew and supplies.

Important cooperation

Captain de Corbeta Rafael J. Vazqvez Feregrino was head of the Mexican Training Group in Sweden, he explained; "This is an important issue for our government. It is long-term and we want to rebuild our ship industry and renew our Navy. We already have two ocean going prototype patrol vessels of some 80 metres and one smaller 50 metre vessel. The CB 90 is classified in our Polaris class. The boats will be assembled in Astrimar No3 in Coatzacualcos. The shipyard is a medium size base with some 250 persons for manufacturing and maintenance. We are happy for this opportunity and believe we will learn a lot. The split in classroom training and later hands-on activities in the workshop are perfect. We will also assist Dockstavarvet in translating the manuals into Spanish", concludes Mr. Vazqvez Feregrino.

Dockstavarvet Enforcer II on show at Norshipping

Dockstavarvet participated at Norshipping in Oslo June 3-6 2003 with its new Front Runner designated IC 16 M.

New layout and engines with speeds in excess of 50 knots

The new Patrol Boat, given type designation IC 15 M, is based on the further development of the Combat Boat 90 H concept modified for purposes other than troop transportation. The hull lacks a bow ramp and the wheelhouse has been moved astern, resulting in improved comfort for those working onboard on the open sea. Below deck, a great deal of work has gone into fitting out the vessel in a practical and appropriate manner for a crew of four men. As before, it will be possible for the Patrol Boat to be specially equipped to meet the individual requirements of each customer in terms of navigation and communications equipment and various types of sensors.

During the Norshipping exhibition potential customers were offered a demonstration tour in the Oslo archipelago. It was a constant flow of different authorities worldwide as well as representatives from the trade press that enjoyed the powerful demonstrations.

IC 16 M fast Patrol Craft strengthen the Royal Malaysian Customs

Docksta, Sweden, 1 July 2003: Dockstavarvet and its partner Dawn
Enterprise Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur have just signed a very valuable
contract on its new patrol vessel, the IC 16 M High Speed Interceptor.
The Royal Malaysian Customs has ordered four vessels in the new series
from Dockstavarvet, launched last year in connection with the Seawork
tradeshow in Southampton.

The four vessels will be manufactured locally
by DNSS Boat Builder Sdn Bhd, a joint venture company between
Dockstavarvet, Dawn Enterpise Sdn Bhd and Sarawak Slipways Sdn Bhd in
Miri, Sarawak, East Malaysia. Dockstavarvet will supply complete
engineering and construction drawings as well as service, spare parts
and support systems.

The IC 16 M is based on the Combat Boat 90, sold in more than 225 units
to date on three continents. Common characteristics are high speed,
good endurance and low radar signature. The location of the wheelhouse
aft midships provides increased comfort for the crew and visibility is
excellent around the horizon despite the low profile. Accommodation is
provided for a crew of six with two single cabins, one 4 man cabin,
pantry, mess-room and toilet. The IC 16 M has a sprint speed exceeding
50 knots with a cruising speed of 42 knots.

The Malaysian Customs vessels will have two Man D2842 LE410 main
engines, each with a medium duty rating of 810 kW. The waterjet
propulsion is Rolls-Royce Kamewa FF-410 with Stromag couplings and
shafts. The navigation system is the Furuno NavNet system.

The four IC 16 Ms will serve all over Malaysia and make a valuable
contribution to the Malaysian Customs in the performance of their
duties. The first boat will be delivered from the shipyard in Miri in 9
months, the others after 11, 13 and 15 months.

Royal Malaysian Navy operates 17 CB 90

The Royal Malaysian Navy already has 17 combat boats, design CB 90 H,
operating in East Malaysia. The combat boats were manufactured at
Dockstavarvet in Sweden and delivered for deployment during 1999 and
2001.

The combat boats strengthen the Malaysian Navy and their efforts to
keep track of illegal border activities outside Sabah and Sarawak in
East Malaysia, Borneo. The boats operate out of Labuan on the west
coast and Sandakan on the northeastern side of Borneo.

Option exercised for Pilot Boats to Denmark

Docksta, Sweden, 9 July 2003: The Danish Pilotage Authority has exercised its option on further two Dockstavarvet AP 14000 pilot boats. The order is a follow-up from February last year when the Pilotage Authority ordered two vessels with an option for a further six. All in all, Dockstavarvet has delivered 17 pilot boats to Denmark over the past 11 years and with last year's order there is still an option for a further four launches. The two new vessels, with new building numbers 531 and 532, will be delivered in December and in May 2004.

"This new order is the very best evidence of a satisfied customer and
it will further strengthen us in doing our best," explains Mr K-A
Sundin, Managing Director of Dockstavarvet.

The ALUPILOT 14000 is a 13.9 x 4.6 meter semi-displacement
all-aluminium craft with a resiliently mounted GRP sandwich deckhouse.
The hull design, based on the well-known Murray Cormack lines, is
modified for higher speeds. The vessels have an on-deck wheelhouse with
around the horizon visibility and a semi-sunk saloon seating up to 8
pilots. Two Scania DSI 14 diesels rated 390 kW at 1800 rpm, each
connected to a fixed pitch propeller through a ZF 550 A gearbox, give a
speed of 24 knots. The vessels are classified according to the Special
Service Craft Rules of Lloyd's Register of Shipping.

Dockstavarvet joined the LIMA 2003

The LIMA exhibition is one of the most important shows in SEA. This year the show went on from September 30 to October 5 in Langkawi.

Dockstavarvet participated with its Malaysian partner Dawn Enterprise from Kuala Lumpur and also this time the Navy was present and showed its new vessels, the Combat Boat 90 RMN, from Dockstavarvet.

According to Dockstavarvet personnel at the show, the interest was very evident from a lot of different authorities and countries in the area. The weather though was not that good, while we prefer to show some good pictures from the last event in 2001.

Rare unbeatable world record

Docksta, Sweden, 15 November 2003: The last two of 147 Combat Boat 90 for the Amphibious Corps of the Royal Swedish Navy left Dockstavarvet Shipyard 23 October 2003 for their final destination Gothenburg in southern Sweden. It was back in 1988 Dockstavarvet was selected to construct two prototypes of a new landing craft, designated the Combat Boat 90 H (Stridsbt 90 H). The first production order was signed 21 June 1990 (12 vessels) and the last batch of 40 boats 8 November 1996.

"The undertaking has been a success all the way from start to finish for the three main parties, the Swedish Defense Material Administration (FMV), the end-user, the Swedish Navy and for us", explains Karl-Anders Sundin, Managing Director at Dockstavarvet.
The main mission of the CB 90 H is to transport troops, half a platoon fully equipped soldiers or corresponding amount of equipment, and land anywhere along the coast and in the archipelagos. It is also used to put reconnaissance units ashore or lay mines. Over the last decade the strategic situation has changed quite dramatically with the focus shifting from stopping an invasion to assisting in international peacekeeping missions and rescue operations. All of the circumstances have changed but the boats are still getting the job done.

Unique undertaking

The CB 90 H production is quite unique, talking both about the time span, well over 10 years delivery and the number of vessels built. The very close cooperation with FMV and the Swedish Navy has also initiated continuous improvements resulting in a much faster craft, today about 45 knots from the original 30 knots, and a much more silent-running boat.
The combination of good timing, advanced logistics and a skilful production team, with very close and tight connection between CAD engineers and the production people, has resulted in a total building time of 16 weeks from start to delivery. With four work stations the normal production rate has been one boat every 4th week with a peak output of one new unit every 3rd week.
The reliability in performance, the excellent manoeuvrability together with dedicated training and support are cornerstones of the Combat Boat system and its different versions. The Swedish Amphibious Corps today operates three different versions, one as ordinary landing craft, one as command center and one personnel safe, the final batch of 27 units, fitted with Armour Protection Level 4 and equipped for international peace-keeping and rescue operations.

Spin offs

"We have seen that our concept, of developing a new model from a ground version, has been quite successful and since we started deliveries to the Swedish Navy, we have also attracted customer in a number of countries. Altogether close to another 100 boats have been sold worldwide", concludes Mr Sundin.

The new vessel, named FRIGG, was taken over at the Nordhavn A/S facilities, in the port of Aarhus. FRIGG will be stationed at the Belt Pilots station in Kalundborg. The Belt Pilot is built up of the former independent pilot organisations Little Belt, Esbjerg, Odense and Kalundborg. Their main station is located to Fredericia and they are altogether about 18 pilots and 29 coxswains.

The new pilot boat FRIGG will replace the former SIRIUS, also delivered
by Dockstavarvet to Kalundborg back in 1994. SIRIUS is now transferred
to Odense, replacing their old 13 meter POLLUX, manufactured in
Dockstavarvet in 1993 and now transferred to Fredericia. ALDEBARAN, the
first pilot boat for Denmark from Dockstavarvet delivered in 1992, has
now been transferred to Esbjerg, where she will replace an old Nelson
pilot boat.

FRIGG, the 17th Pilot Boat from Dockstavarvet to Denmark since 1992, is
the 11th of the 14 m pilot boat type AP14700. It measures 13.9 x 4.6 m
with a hull in aluminium and a resiliently mounted GRP sandwich
deckhouse. The deckhouse includes a raised wheelhouse and a semi sunk
saloon with toilet and pantry. The salon is fitted with a pullman sofa
and a dinette seating 4 persons. Displacement is 22 tons and two Scania
engines, type DSI 14 on 400 kW each, give a sprint speed of 24 knots.
Furuno has delivered the navigational equipment including their new
black-box radar and a 15 inch flat-screen, GPS compass, autopilot and
the MaxSea chart system.

In addition to the normal security equipment, the AP14700 is fitted
with a man overboard direction finder, a rescue crane with a separate
manoeuvring station on the aft deck, to facilitate fast and safe
salvage of a person from the water even under severe conditions.

One further pilot boat is under construction at the Dockstavarvet shipyard for delivery to the Danpilot in Grenaa in May 2004.

Dockstavarvet onboard the HMS Carlskrona 2004 worldtrip

Dockstavarvet has for a number of years participated in the annual trips conducted by
the HMS Carlskrona. This year, like earlier times, we have an
exhibition onboard on display in all harbours along the trip.

HMS Carlskrona is doing these trips once a year to train the onboard
crew in seamanship and in the operating disiplines on the ship. Another
main mission is to support the Swedish export industry by organizing
different activities onboard during the stops in predeterminded cities
along the trip.

at the same time substitute an old Nelsonboat, taken out of service.

NEPTUN, the 18th Pilot Boat from Dockstavarvet to Denmark since 1992,
is the 12th of the 14 m pilot boat type. It measures 13.9 x 4.6m with a
hull in aluminium and a resiliently mounted GRP sandwich deckhouse. The
deckhouse includes a raised wheelhouse and a semi sunk saloon with
toilet and pantry. The salon is fitted with a pullman sofa and a
dinette seating 4 persons.

In addition to the normal security equipment, the AP14700 is fitted
with a man overboard direction finder, a rescue crane and a separate
manoeuvring station on the aft deck, to facilitate fast and safe
salvage of a person from the water even under severe conditions.

In connection with this delivery, the Danish Pilotage Authority placed
an option for further four pilot boats of the same type, the AP14700.
Delivery will take place during 2005-2006. The coming vessels will be
equipped with the new Scania 16 litre engine DI16M with a Twin
Disc-gearbox and Quick Shift-function and electronic controls.

Security Craft to Russia

Docksta, Sweden 26th May 2004: Dockstavarvet has delivered its first 16 meter Interceptor Craft "IC 16 M II". The new vessel was taken over at Dockstavarvet by Autogrand Marine Ltd, and will be operated on the inland waterways of Russia.

The IC 16 M II design is based on the well-known CB 90 H concept
adapted for patrol operations. The wheelhouse, now being
sound-insulated, is moved aft increasing the crew comfort and providing
excellent visibility around the horizon despite the low profile. The
accommodation is arranged for a crew of four with two single cabins,
one two-man cabin, pantry, mess-room and toilet. The remotely operated
foldable mast provides a maximum air draft of 3.50 meters when the mast
is lowered, thus enabling the craft to pass under the bridges even at
high waters. The boat is also fitted with a 3.4 meter RIB tender stowed
on the aft deck.

The IC 16 M II is in all aluminium construction and powered by two MAN
diesel engines giving a total output of 1600 kW (2200 hp) and a sprint
speed of more than 50 knots. The engines are driving two ROLLS-ROYCE
Kamewa FF-410 water jet units through hydraulic clutches and flexible
shaft couplings.

The technical systems installed in the IC 16 M II are based on proven
CB 90 H solutions, developed for and together with the Swedish Navy
with a combined operating time, worldwide, of more than 350,000 hours.
The low radar profile of the new IC 16 M III together with its extreme
speed resources and manoeuvrability makes it a most powerful platform
for police / security operations.

With a speed capability of more than 50 knots it's a true High Speed
Craft, but it is not a racing machine. It retains the ruggedness and
reliability which is the trade mark of all Docksta designs.

Dockstavarvet performed test trials in Brazilian Amazonas

Dockstavarvet was invited by the Brazilian Army to conduct tests
together with troops from the 1st Jungle Infantry Battalion (1?BIS)
during the spring 2004.

A Swedish team was formed comprising Dockstavarvet's Project Manager
Ulf Mansnrus and Juan Veloci supported by three officers from the
Swedish Amphibious Forces. The boat was shipped from Sweden one month
ahead of the demonstration and arrived in late March at Manaus, located
some 1500 km upstream in the Amazon where the two rivers Rio Solimoes
and Rio Negro meet.

The demonstration began with training of Brazilian crews over three
weeks at the Army base, learning how to utilize the full potential of
the CB 90 H and how to operate the LEMUR system. The training was then
followed by one week of evaluation in the jungle. As a bonus,
Dockstavarvet was invited to stay through July participating in
Operation Timbo 2.

Dockstavarvet joined HSWMS Carlskrona worldtrip

Dockstavarvet with its international busniness is yet another time one of the industry members onboard HSWMS Carlskrona on its annual training trips. In 2005 Carlskrona is performing a trip around the world for six months and this year, like earlier times, we have an exhibition onboard on display in all harbours along the trip.

HSWMS Carlskrona is the Swedish Navys largest fighting ship. She is
minelayer and in peacetime primarily used as a platform for the
training of officers and national servicemen in the handling and laying
of mines.

HSWMS Carlskrona is used as a training ship for midshipmen. Since she
was launched at the Karskrona Shipyard in 1982 she has carried out
training cruises. Annual training cruises, to all parts of the world,
is a tradition upheld by the Swedish Navy since the middle of the 19th
century.

During the five months of the year 2005 the Carlskrona will carry out
the yearly training cruise.

The objective of the cruise is:

To train the navys midshipmen and to provide an experience in
    international operations.

Another task for the ship and her crew is to show Swedish presence in foreign
waters, to spread knowledge about Sweden and to create an interest in
Sweden, thereby supporting Swedish representation overseas.

Last, but not least, HSWMS Carlskrona, with her annual cruises to foreign
    countries, promotes Swedish export industry.

First IC 16 M to Mexico

Docksta, Sweden August 10 2005: The first IC 16 M unit from Dockstavarvet to the Mexican Navy was delivered on 10 August. The new vessel, named "MIAPLACIDUS", was taken over after two days of acceptance tests in Docksta.

The new program, named "POLARIS II", was initiated last December aiming
to continue the success of the CB 90 HMN, being a vital tool in the
Mexican Navy's efforts to combat drug trafficking. The Navy intends to
expand its fleet of fast interceptors with more IC 16 M units locally
built at Astilliero No 3 (Shipyard 3) in Coatzacoalcos, all parts
delivered from Dockstavarvet as complete knock-down-kits. As part of
the program the construction of the first unit has been closely
followed by Mexican engineers.

The IC 16 M was originally configured with a normal bow, the wheelhouse
set aft and an accommodation for a crew of 4-6 persons to live onboard.
In the Mexican version the characteristics of both the CB 90 H and the
IC 16 M have been mixed. The bowramp is reintroduced and the
accommodation comprises seating for 18 troops. The result is a new
combat boat laid out as a patrol boat adopted for open sea conditions,
with even better speed capabilities.

The IC 16 M is in all aluminium construction designed to meet the
requirements of Lloyd's Register's Special Service Craft Rules. The
vessel is powered by two MAN diesel engines giving a total output of
1618 kW (2200 hp) with a sprint speed of over 50 knots. The engines are
driving two Rolls-Royce FF410 waterjet units through hydraulic clutches
and flexible shaft couplings.

The technical systems installed in the IC 16 M are based on proven CB
90 H solutions, developed for and together with the Swedish Navy with a
combined operating time of more than 400,000 hours worldwide.

With a speed capability of more than 50 knots it's a true High Speed
Craft, but it is not a racing machine. It retains the ruggedness and
reliability which is the trade mark of all Docksta designs.

Diving Tender for International Operations

Docksta, Sweden October 11 2005: Dockstavarvet has delivered a diving tender to the Royal Swedish Navy, comprising a modified CB 90 HS originally delivered in 1993.

The troop transport compartment is converted to carry a portable rescue
chamber type Duocom for immediate and fast recompression on-board. The
Duocom chamber is designed to take a tender or medical advisor to give
first aid or support vital functions and allow oxygen breathing via
mask. The chamber is then unloaded through the aft hatch and
transported to the nearest stationary chamber.

Normal procedure is to unload the Duocom with an external crane or
winch, but it can be carried by six due to its light weight aluminium
construction. A hydraulic lift enables the crew to position the chamber
for unloading.

All high pressure air and oxygen vessels are stored in special casings
on deck and can easily be released to sea in case of an emergency.

In total 240 units CB 90 H have been delivered since 1989, whereof 147
units to the Royal Swedish Navy. The latest version HS is fitted for
international operation comprising armor protection, collective NBC
protection, air conditioning, genset, WC and fresh water system.

Fishery Inspection Vessel for the Danish Inspectorate of Fisheries

Docksta, Sweden 22nd December 2005: This week Dockstavarvet signed a contract for the delivery of one Fishery Inspection Vessel for the Danish Inspectorate of Fisheries, including an option for one further vessel. The contract was signed in Copenhagen by Esben Rasmussen, Director of the Danish Directorate of Fisheries, and K-A Sundin, Managing Director of Dockstavarvet , in the presence of Lars Grundberg, Sweden's Ambassador to Denmark and Ulla Wingrd of the Danish Inspectorate of Fisheries.

The vessel shall replace one of the three units presently operated by
the Danish Inspectorate of Fisheries. DOCKSTAVARVET'S proposal is based
on the 300-type operated by the Swedish Coast Guard, now being adapted
to Danish requirements. The boat which is 20 meter in length is built
in all aluminium construction and is designed to meet the requirements
of Det Norske Veritas' rules. The original design was made by the
Swedish Defence Material Administration during the 1990s and so far 11
units have been built. Since the Inspectorate has lower speed
requirements than the Coast Guard, the original water jets will be
replaced by conventional propulsion to provide good economy at 18
knots.

This project is strategically important for DOCKSTAVARVET and one of
the largest designs ever built by the ship yard. There are several
potential customers worldwide to this type and size and DOCKSTAVARVET
has design versions capable of speeds up to 45 knots in the portfolio.

The delivery is settled to mid December 2006.

The boats will form a vital part of EU's Integrated Border Management Program in the Baltic Sea. For Dockstavarvet this is the largest order for this new type of craft introduced back in 2002.

The contract was signed by Dockstavarvet MD, Torbjrn Larsson (left) and Kontradm. Konrad Wisniowski from the Polish Border Guard.

The boats will be partially constructed by Wisla Aluminium in Gdansk
under the supervision of Polish Register of Shipping. The hulls will be
built here and then shipped to Sweden for final fitting out.

The IC 16 M is in all aluminium construction based on the well-known CB
90 H concept, now adapted for patrol operations and hull design
according to Lloyd's Register's Special Service Craft Rules. The aft
positioned wheelhouse provides good crew comfort at high speed in open
seas and excellent visibility around the horizon despite the low
profile. The accommodation is arranged for a crew of 4 with one forward
4-berth cabin, galley, dinette, head and additional seating for 8
passengers. The Polish version is equipped for border control as well
as search and rescue missions.

Power is provided by two SCANIA D16 diesel engines giving a total output of 1600hp and a sprint speed of 42 knots. The engines are driving two ROLLS-ROYCE FF410 waterjet units through ZF550 reduction gears and flexible shaft couplings. An integrated navigation system NavNet Vx2 is provided by FURUNO. The technical systems installed in the IC 16 M are based on proven CB 90 H solutions developed for and together with the Swedish Navy. The CB 90 H system has an accumulated operating time worldwide exceeding 750,000 hours providing a well proven design.

ALUPILOT 16.5 M a New Design from DOCKSTAVARVET

DOCKSTAVARVET has a long standing record as Pilot Boat builders with deliveries to Sweden, England, Turkey and Denmark. LOS 115, yard no 544, is however the first boat build at Docksta for the Norwegian Coastal Administration.

The basic concept was based on the Swedish PILOT 111 type, a 13.5 meter Fast Launch with capacity to navigate in light ice conditions. To accommodate a fuel capacity for 18 hours cruising and a Main Engine with 12000 h MTBO DOCKSTAVARVET had to develop a completely new design with a much larger hull measuring 16.7 x 5.1 meter and with a full load displacement of over 30 tons. The hull design is by JB Seaform while all the structure- and detailed engineering was done in-house. The boat is built in all welded aluminium construction according to DNV / Norwegian Maritime Directorate requirements. The resiliently mounted deckhouse is fitted with a Pilot / Co-Pilot conning arrangement, toilet, pantry and seating for 4 Pilots. The noise level inside is well under 70 db(A) at full speed.

17 meter Pilot Launch to Norway

DOCKSTAVARVET has a long standing record as aluminium boat builders specializing along two lines; High Speed Police/Patrol/Interceptor Crafts and Fast Pilot Launches. LOS 116, Yard No 551, is the second pilot boat from Docksta to the Norwegian Coastal Administration and was delivered to the Fedje Pilot Station outside Bergen in May 2008.

LOS 116 is based on an existing design which has been in service in Norway since 1996. The 16.8 x 5.2 meter hull is proven as a reliable heavy-weather boat and has been retained unchanged but the detailed engineering has been upgraded to the highest current standards. The boat is built in all welded aluminium construction according to DNV / Norwegian Maritime Directorate requirements. The resiliently mounted deckhouse is fitted with a Pilot / Co-Pilot conning arrangement, toilet, pantry and seating for up to 8 Pilots. The noise level inside is extremely low, reaching only 61 db (A) at full speed.

LOS 116 is fitted with a twin screw propulsion system from MTU / SWEDMOTOR consisting of 8V2000 main engines, Servogear gears / CPPs and Blue Vision electronic manoeuvring / monitoring systems. With a rating of 2 x 720 kW this system give a service speed of 27 knots and very smooth manoeuvring. The navigation / communication equipment is delivered by PRONAV / JRC and includes JMA-5310 and JMA-5210 black-box radars, JHS-182 AIS, NCR-333 Navtex, FF-50 echosounder, CSI Vector PRO GPS compass, Northstar MX500 DGPS, SIMRAD AP-50 autopilot, Maris AEC-6910 chart system and one 19 plus two 17 inch interconnect able flat-screens from Hatteland. For the Pilots an additional 15 inch screen plus a Pilot-Plug is provided to give access to situation aver ness before boarding. Two SAILOR RT- 5022 stations are included in the GMDSS A1 package.

The westcoast of Norway is an extremely weather-hard area and calls for heavy-duty fendering. LOS 116 has been fitted with the bolted truck-tyre system used on all DOCKSTA Pilot Boats delivered during the last 15 years. The system gives very good protection for the boat and low maintenance cost. In addition to the normal safety equipment, LOS 116 is also fitted with a comprehensive heating system to keep decks, boarding platforms and hand rails free from ice in below zero conditions.

The Norwegian Coastal Administration has an option for five more units of this highly specialized Pilot Craft.

Following a modification of the legislation, pilot services in Danish waters has recently been opened up for private competition. Danish Pilot Service A/S started operation in September 2007 and already employs 15 pilots. The company is based in the Port of Fredericia and serves also Abenraa and Ensted as well as sea pilotage to Kalundborg and Stigsnes. Boarding service is performed with three 15 knot Launches and a large Cutter strengthened for navigation in ice.

Under Swedish flag she has sailed as ENFORCER II and she has also been hired by several Security Organisations as back up on special occasions calling for extra high speed capacity.

The 15 x 3.8 meter vessel is fitted with 2 x CAT C18 engines and waterjets giving a top speed of 50 knots. The engines have now been de-rated to a top speed of 42 knots and the arrangement has been modified with additional fendering and a boarding platform system.

Under Danish flag she will be named P/V SERVUS and will definitively be one of the fastest Pilot Launches in the world.

The IC 16 M Success Continues

Three more units delivered to Russia, four in build in Malaysia and two in Mexico

The IC 16 M was developed as a 50 knot Police/Patrol Craft based on the Combat Boat 90 H, a thoroughly proven design of which over 250 units are already in service world wide. The IC 16 M prototype, NB 460 "ENFORCER II", was built for own account in 2002 as a demo and test rig and have since been hired by several Security Organisations as back up for their regular fleet on special occasions calling for extra high speed capacity.

The first production unit was delivered to AG Marine, Moscow, Russia in 2004 and additional three units have just been completed for the same customer with final delivery in July 2008.

The production version is normally fitted with 2 x MAN V12 engines with a medium duty rating of 810 kW driving Rolls-Royce FF-410 waterjets and giving a top speed of +50 knots. The wheelhouse is fitted with seating for a crew of four and the accommodation is laid out with two single, one double cabin and corresponding toilet, pantry and mess facilities.

One pre-series boat was built for Armanda de Mexico in 2005 and since then five more boats have been built at the Mexican Navy Shipyard in Coatzacualcos with complete Materiel Kits and supervision provided from Docksta. Two more units are ordered and will be completed during 2009. The Mexican Navy version is fitted with a bow ramp and seating for 18 soldiers instead of the normal accommodation.

DOCKSTAVARVETs co-operating partner and Licensee in Malaysia, DNSS Shipbuilders, built four IC 16 M for The Royal Malaysian Customs in 2005 and are currently building four more for The Royal Malaysian Marine Police.

The Polish Border Guard took delivery of four units from Docksta during 2007. The PBG specification called for a top speed of 42 knots which is achieved with 2 x 590 kW SCANIA DI16 engines.

This sums up to a total of 24 units ordered by four different customers. In addition NB 552 and 553 have been built on own account as complete aluminium structures to be able to offer a short lead time for new customers.

NB 555 and 556 are also based on the IC 16 M concept but modified to be fitted out as VIP launches for a Middle East customer with delivery 2009.

Sports Utility Craft from DOCKSTAVARVET

For more than half a decade starting 1905 DOCKSTAVARVET was a prominent builder of wooden yachts and motor boats for the domestic Swedish market. After 1965 production has been focused on commercial / military aluminium crafts, in the last ten years almost exclusively for export. DOCKSTA is now back in the luxury segment with two highly sophisticated High Speed VIP Crafts for a Middle East client.

The SUC 16.5 M design is based on the successful IC 16 M Patrol Boat of which already 27 units are delivered / in build. The structure and all technical installations are to the same commercial standards according to Lloyd's Special Service Crafts Rules for Area G3. The new hull is half a meter longer and slightly wider but with optimized scantlings 500 kg have been shaved off the aluminum weight. The bigger hull and the weight-saving have enabled the use of mixed flow waterjets which are bigger but have better propulsion efficiency at speeds over 50 knots compared with the axial flow units used on all previous Docksta designs. With 2 x 1000 kW MAN V12 engines the new design can achieve a sprint speed of 55 knots. The increased beam has also made it possible to fit a flexibly mounted wheelhouse, a Docksta feature used on all Pilot Boats built since 1978. Together with other sound insulation measures this has brought the noise level in the wheelhouse down to 70 db(A) at 50 knots, figures believed to be unique in the industry! All the electrical and electronic equipment including genset, batteries, switchboards, A/C plants etc are fitted in a separate room beneath the wheelhouse with separate entrance from the aft deck.

The two SUC 16.5 M crafts are fitted-out to the highest Luxury Yacht standards both on deck and below creating a unique combination of a fully professional technical platform with a most sophisticated accommodation; a Sports Utility Craft.

The new design will also be marketed as the IC 16.5 M with a Patrol Craft layout with accommodation for 4 - 6 crew offering a most powerful platform for police / security operations.

DOCKSTAs new Interceptor 16.5 M

DOCKSTAVARVET is now introducing a new 16.5 meter Police/Patrol Craft design. The new craft is developed from the highly successful IC 16 M type of which a total of close to 30 units are already in service / in build for customers in Russia, Poland, Mexico and Malaysia. The standard IC 16 M with 2 x 810 kW main engines and axial flow waterjets has a sprint speed of 50+knots. The Mexican Navy version has been configured as a landing craft with a bow ramp and seating for 18 soldiers instead of the normal crew accommodation.

The new IC 16.5 M design has been enlarged and optimized to carry engines up to 2 x 1100 kW and waterjets of the mixed flow type to be able to achieve speeds of up to 55 knots. Main dimension are 16.5 x 4.00 with a draft of 1.2 meters at a light ship displacement of 21 ton. The accommodation can be laid out for a crew of 4 to 6 persons and the wheelhouse will be resiliently mounted to get a comfortable noise level inside even at full speed. Technical installations will be to the highest standards developed by DOCKSTA while building totally almost 300 high speed Police/Patrol/Attack Crafts of the CB 90 H and IC 16 M types over the last 20 years.

Accumulated running hours are well over one million.

The first two units based on the IC 16.5 M concept are now being fitted out as VIP launches for a Middle East customer and have already run preliminary trials with very good results. The new design will now be marketed as a top-of-the-line High Speed Interceptor while the existing IC 16 M will continue as the Landing Craft alternative.

Modified propulsion system reduces fuel consumption with 30 % in 17 meter Pilot Boat

"A re-design of the propulsion system on LOS 118 has resulted in a total weight reduction of 5 tons. The new displacementrequires less engine power to perform the contractual speed of25 knots, which is provided by twoVOLVO PENTA D16 engines rated 480 kW (rating 1). This does not only reduce the fuel consumption with 30% but provides along life power train with 20.000 hours MTBO."

When DOCKSTAVARVET delivered LOS 116, Yard No 551, to the Norwegian Coastal Administration in May 2008 the boat was received with acclaim at the Fedje Pilot Station outside Bergen. The boat full filled all their requirements regarding seakeeping, operational characteristics and comfort with a noise level inside reaching only 61 db (A) at full speed. However, with a full load displacement of 38 tons and oil prices peaking in mid 2008 fuel cost became worrying. LOS 116 is fitted with a quite heavy propulsion system of 2 x 720 kW with CP propellers giving a service speed of 27 knots.

Before executing an option for four more units of the same type the customer ordered a review of the design aiming to reduce fuel consumption. Docksta's design team soon found out that switching to VOLVO-PENTA D16 engines at Rating 2 (2 x 552 kW at 1900 rpm) with Twin Disc Quick Shift gearboxes and FP propellers would reduce weight with 3 tons plus another ton on piping and auxiliary systems. One more ton was shaved off from other equipment bringing the total weight saving to 5 tons. The preliminary calculations indicated that the same speed could be achieved with a reduction in fuel consumption of 25%.

LOS 118, the first boat of the new configuration, has now been delivered to the lesund Pilot Station. The trial results were overwhelming as the full load speed came out at 29 knots and has allowed a de-rating of the engines to Rating 1 (2 x 480 kW at 1800 rpm) while still achieving the contract speed of 25 knots with very good margin. At Rating 1 the engines are expected to reach 20.000 hours MTBO with low maintenance costs and a fuel consumption of less than 8.5 l/NM. Compared with LOS 116 this is a reduction of over 30 %.

Although a full 5 tons lighter, LOS 118 is fitted with all the state-of-the art features of the original specification including heated decks, boarding platforms and hand rails, a heavy duty fender system and the DOCKSTA trade mark; a resiliently mounted deckhouse with around 62 db(A) inside at full speed. The boat is fitted with a 10 kVA Perkins/Stamford diesel generator for the 3 x 220 V AC system supporting domestic loads and a SERVEX aircondition/ventilation/defrost system. Each main engine drives a 120 A alternator for the 24 V DC systems which have separate banks for start-, service-, emergency- and radio batteries.

The navigation / communication equipment is delivered by PRONAV / JRC and includes JMA-5310 and JMA-5210 black-box radars, JHS-182 AIS, NCR-333 Navtex, FF-50 echosounder, CSI Vector PRO GPS compass, Northstar MX500 DGPS, SIMRAD AP-50 autopilot, Maris AEC-6910 chart system and one 19 plus two 17 inch interconnectable flat-screens from Hatteland. For the Pilots an additional 15 inch screen plus a Pilot-Plug is provided to give access to situation averness before boarding. Two SAILOR RT- 5022 stations are included in the GMDSS A1 package.

In addition to the standard safety equipment LOS 118 is also fitted with a rescue platform with davit at the transom.

Six Pilot Boats for Germany ordered from DOCKSTAVARVET

The German Government through Fachstelle Maschinenwesen Nord in Rendsburg have placed an order for 6 Fast Pilot Launches with DOCKSTAVARVET in Sweden.

DOCKSTAVARVET has a solid history as Pilot Boat builders since more than 100 years. In the last decades the yard has delivered around 50 aluminium boats to Pilot Authorities in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Turkey and Britain.

The first boat for Germany will be delivered in December 2010 and all six boats are to be handed over before 31.12. 2011. The boats will be operated by Lotsbetreibsverein, Aussenstelle Kiel on behalf of Lotsenbrderschaft Nord-Ostseekanal II / Kiel / Lbeck / Flensburg replacing 6 boats built in Norway around 1980.

The technical requirements were quite demanding and the order was won in stiff competition with a number of other European shipyards. DOCKSTAVARVET is currently building a series of similar boats for the Norwegian Coast Administration and could base the tender on an existing and proven design. The boats will be built in aluminium with classification by Germanischer Lloyd including Iceclass E.

Main dimensions are 16.8 x 5.2 meter and a light ship displacement of 29 tons. Two engines of 500 hp / 367 kW will give a speed at full load of over 20 knots. The arrangement is laid out with a raised wheelhouse with round-the-horizon visibility for two crew and one pilot. Aft of the wheelhouse at deck level is the saloon with toilet-room, a small pantry, mess and seating for 6 pilots. The entire deckhouse is resiliently mounted to ensure a noise level inside of under 65 db(A) at 90 % MCR.

The standard of detailed engineering and equipment will full fill all the demands which can be placed on a State-of-the-Art Pilot Boat with emphasis on safety, fuel economy and long service life with low maintenance costs.

Three more Pilot Boats from Docksta to Norway

DOCKSTAVARVET has now handed over the sixth Pilot Boat to the Norwegian Coastal Administration since deliveries started with LOS 115 in 2007. LOS 115 and 117 are single screw, 16.5 meter, 22 knot boats strengthened for navigation in ice while LOS 116 and 118 are twin screw, 17 meter, boats based on an existing hull design which was already proven in the Norwegian Pilotage Organisation. Number 119 has been reserved for a third unit of the ice-going type.

The three following boats, LOS 120 - LOS 122, have been redesigned with a modified hullform aimed at giving both a softer ride in head-seas and a further reduction of fuel consumption. At a service speed of 25 knots the consumption is now down to a mere 8 l/NM; a very good figure for a heavy-duty vessel with a full load displacement of 32 tons. The boats are fitted with 2 x VOLVO-PENTA D16 engines with Twin Disc MGX-5145 Quick Shift gearboxes and FP propellers. At Rating 1 (2 x 480 kW at 1800 rpm) the engines are expected to reach 18.000 hours MTBO and the top speed is 26.5 knots. Fuel capacity is 3600 litres giving a range of 400 NM.

The specification includes all the state-of-the art features including heated decks, boarding platforms and hand rails, a heavy duty fender system and the DOCKSTA trade mark; a resiliently mounted deckhouse with a noise level of around 63 db(A) inside at full speed. The raised wheelhouse is fitted with a twin-station conning arrangement and seating for three Pilots. The saloon on main-deck level has a toilet room, pantry and sofa arrangement seating for up to 5 additional Pilots. The boats are fitted with a 10 kVA Perkins/Stamford diesel generator for the 3 x 220 V AC system supporting domestic loads and a SERVEX air-condition/ventilation/ defrost system. Each main engine drives a 140 A alternator for the 24 V DC systems which have separate banks for start-, service-, emergency- and radio batteries.

The navigation / communication equipment is delivered by PRONAV / JRC and includes JMA-5310 and JMA-5210 black-box radars, JHS-182 AIS, NCR-333 Navtex, FF-50 echosounder, CSI Vector PRO GPS compass, Northstar MX500 DGPS, SIMRAD AP-50 autopilot, Maris AEC-6910 chart system and three 19 inch interconnectable flat-screens from Hatteland. For the Pilots an additional 15 inch screen plus a Pilot-Plug is provided to give access to situation awareness before boarding. Two SAILOR RT- 5022 stations are included in the GMDSS A1 package.

In addition to the standard safety equipment the boats are also fitted with a rescue platform with davit at the transom.

LOS 120 is stationed in Kristiansund, LOS 121 in Troms and LOS 122 will be delivered to Sandnessjen in July 2010.

In direct continuation of the last three boats for Norway DOCKSTAVARVET has already started production of 6 similar boats ordered by the German Government through Fachstelle Maschinenwesen Nord in Rendsburg. The boats will be built in aluminium with classification by Germanischer Lloyd including Iceclass E. Modifications of the design includes a slightly bigger deckhouse with a lay-out with 3 seats in the wheelhouse (2 crew and 1 pilot) and a spacious saloon with 6 pilot seats, pantry, mess and toilet-room.

The first boat for Germany will be delivered in December 2010 and all six boats are to be handed over before 31.12. 2011.
CB90 with a Two Point Lift System

Great Britain and the Netherlands are lending 2 rebuilt CB90 boats from Sweden for a six month trial. The boats were upgraded here at Dockstavarvet so that the boats could be lifted up with existing davits on Dutch and British ships. During the trials to verify if the 2 point lift system function as good as it should, the 2 countries can look closely at the CB90.

Both the Dutch and the British navy want to be able to operate in coastal areas and they need to supplement their landing craft with some kind of assault craft. There is also the requirement that boats easily can be taken on board the larger vessel to be carried over longer distances associated with international operations and be used anywhere in the world.

In January 2010, the German Government through Fachstelle Maschinenwesen Nord in Rendsburg placed an order for 6 Fast Pilot Launches with DOCKSTAVARVET in Sweden. The boats are to be operated by Lotsenbruederschaft NOK II / Kiel / Luebeck / Flensburg and all boats are to be delivered by December 2011.

The technical specification included a number of weight driving requirements and a contract speed of 20 knots at 90 % of CSR with a maximum output of 750 kW due to manning rules. The boats were to be built in aluminium construction with classification by Germanischer Lloyd including Iceclass E and to be fully self-rightening.

The first boat was launched on the 26th of November and the first workshop trials were performed the following day with representatives of Volvo-Penta and Twin Disc, suppliers of main engines and gear boxes respectively. The self-rightening / capsizing test was successfully done on the 1st of December. Within less than a week from launching DOCKSTAVARVET has been able to verify compliance with all the main positions of a quite demanding specification.

The highly advanced AP 17M will full fill all the demands a customer would have on a Pilot Boat built in the 21st century with state of the art hull design and equipment. It's a Pilot Boat with emphasis on safety, fuel economy and long service life with low maintenance costs.
The first of six Pilot Boats for Germany delivered from Dockstavarvet

The New LABOE alongside the old at Kiel Lighthouse 19.12.2010

NB 563, LVB LABOE, was delivered in Kiel 21.12.2010 as the first of 6 Fast Pilot Launches ordered by the German Government through Fachstelle Maschinenwesen Nord in January 2010. The boats will be operated by Lotsbetreibsverein, Aussenstelle Kiel on behalf of Lotsenbrderschaft Nord-Ostseekanal II / Kiel / Lbeck / Flensburg.

The design is based on a series of similar boats delivered from Docksta to the Norwegian Coastal Administration during 2009 - 2010. In contrast to the Norwegian boats, and in fact to all Pilot Boats previously built in Docksta, the boats for Germany were required to be self-rightening. A successful and approved "turn-around" test was performed shortly after the launching of the first boat.

Main dimensions are 16.8 x 5.2 meter and the boats are built in aluminium with classification by Germanischer Lloyd including Iceclass E. Two VOLVO-PENTA D16 main engines of 500 hp / 367 kW at 1800 rpm each drives fixed pitch propellers through 80 mm SS shafts and Twin Disc MGX-5145 gearboxes giving a very sturdy propulsion package and long MTBO. Speed at the full load displacement of 33.3 ton and 90 % of CSR is 20 knots giving a fuel consumption of around 7.5 l/NM.
The arrangement is laid out with a raised wheelhouse with round-the-horizon visibility for two crew and one pilot seated in Recaro chairs. Aft of the wheelhouse at deck level is the saloon with toilet-room, crew mess and seating for 6 pilots. The entire deckhouse is resiliently mounted to ensure a noise level inside of under 65 db(A) at 90 % MCR.

Heating is provided by a 20 kW Kabola boiler combined with waste heat from the fresh water circuits of the main engines and with back-up from a 9 kW electro-boiler when shore connected. The system provides ample heating even in winter conditions not only for the interior but also for external hand-rails and the boarding platforms.

The electrical system is based on 24 V DC for essential services supplied from 2 x 140 A generators on the main engines. The 400/230 V AC system is supplied by a 10 kW Fischer-Panda dieselgenerator or shore connection and serves five big heated windows, the aircondition system, domestic services as well as back-up battery charging for the five battery-banks; 2 x Starter, Service, Emergency and GMDSS.
The boat is fitted with ample deck lighting including a remote controlled 1000 W searchlight and four fixed 200 W bowlights from Norselight.

The navigation and communication package is a system-delivery from FURUNO and comprises two 12 kW radars type FAR-2117, one with 6 ' antenna and 19" display and one with 4' antenna and 17" display, two TECDIS plotter systems, one with a 19" display and one with a 17" display, as well as GPS compass, dGPS receiver, autopilot, echosounder, AIS, wind data and camera systems.
In addition to the full GMDSS A1 installation there are two extra Sailor RT-2048 VHF-DSC sets, one intended to be used exclusively by the pilot in turn to board the next vessel. The pilot work-station also has access to one of the TECDIS systems and is furthermore fitted with a pilot-plug and an internet connection.

The standard of detailed engineering reflects Dockstas long standing experience in pilot boat construction with emphasis on safety, fuel economy and long service life with low maintenance costs. Despite the very tight schedule the first boat was delivered about 10 days ahead of contract date and the following five boats will all be in service before the end of 2011.

Background

Main dimensions are 16.8 x 5.2 meter and the boats are built in aluminum with classification by Germanischer Lloyd including Ice class E.
The arrangement is laid out with a raised wheelhouse with round-the-horizon visibility for two crew members and one pilot seated in Recaro chairs. Aft of the wheelhouse at deck level is the saloon with toilet-room, crew mess and seating for 6 pilots. The entire deckhouse is resiliently mounted to ensure a noise level inside of under 65 db(A) at 90 % MCR.

Heating is provided by a 35kW Kabola boiler combined with waste heat from the fresh water circuits of the main engines and with back-up from a 9 kW electro-boiler when shore connected. The system provides ample heating even in winter conditions not only for the interior but also for external hand-rails and the boarding platforms.

The electrical system is based on 24 V DC for essential services supplied from 2 x 140 A generators on the main engines. The 400/230 V AC system is supplied by a 10 kW Fischer-Panda diesel generator or shore connection and serves five big heated windows, the air-condition system, domestic services as well as back-up battery charging for the five battery-banks; 2 x Starter, Service, Emergency and GMDSS. The boat is fitted with ample deck lighting including a remote controlled 1000 W searchlight and four fixed 200 W bowlights from Norselight.

The navigation and communication package is a system-delivery from FURUNO and comprises two 12 kW radars type FAR-2117, one with 6 ' antenna and 19" display and one with 4' antenna and 17" display, two TECDIS plotter systems, one with a 19" display and one with a 17" display, as well as GPS compass, dGPS receiver, autopilot, echo sounder, AIS, wind data and camera systems.

Despite the very tight schedule the first boat was delivered about 10 days ahead of contract date. Boat no. 2, 3 and 4 are delivered according to contract. The following two boats will be delivered in October and December this year.

Six 17 meter Boats for Kielpilots, Germany completed by DOCKSTAVARVET

P.V. STEIN

NB 563, LVB LABOE, was delivered in Kiel 21.12.2010 as the first of 6 Fast Pilot Launches ordered by the German Government through Fachstelle Maschinenwesen Nord in January 2010. The sixth and last unit, NB 568, LVB STEIN was delivered almost exactly 12 months later. The boats are operated by Lotsbetreibsverein, Aussenstelle Kiel on behalf of Lotsenbrderschaft Nord-Ostseekanal II / Kiel / Lbeck / Flensburg.

Heating is provided by a 45 kW Kabola boiler combined with waste heat from the fresh water circuits of the main engines and with back-up from a 9 kW electro-boiler when shore connected.

The boat is fitted with ample deck lighting including a remote controlled 500 W searchlight and four fixed 200 W bowlights from Norselight.

The navigation and communication package is a system-delivery from FURUNO and comprises two 12 kW radars type FAR-2117, one with 6 ' antenna and 19" display and one with 4' antenna and 17' display, two TECDIS plotter systems, one with a 19" display and one with a 17' display, as well as GPS compass, dGPS receiver, autopilot, echosounder, AIS, wind data and camera systems.

Despite the very tight schedule the whole series have been delivered ahead of contract date.
