Pay It Forward!

Today is Pay It Forward Day!

So most of us understand the concept of paying it forward, probably because most of us have seen the movie. For those who don't know what it is, paying it forward is doing something nice for someone in the hopes that they will do something nice for someone else, and so on...

I personally think everyday should be Pay It Forward Day. But that's just me. I am glad that this day is being recognized though.

So, I want to challenge you to start your own pay it forward chain, or continue one.

Stranger Buys Groceries

On Nov. 5th, Glenda Martin was at her local Walmart doing her grocery shopping. She went to pay knowing that she was buying more then her normal weekly shopping, but also knowing that she had the money in her account. She tries to pay with her debit card, but it was declined, so she tried again. Still, it was denied. So she decided to run to the bank in the store real fast. She then discovered why it didn't work and got cash to pay for her groceries. As she came back to the pay the cashier, the cashier had a big smile on her face. When Glenda went to hand her the money, she informed her that the man in line behind had already payed for her groceries. When Glenda tried to pay him back for his kind act, he said no, and called it an early Merry Christmas.

I really like this story, it shows that there are kind and generous people out there. And I think we should all be inspired by this kind stranger.

What Is A Superhero?

I want to redefine the term "superhero."

In today's world, we need people to inspire others. You don't need to run around in a costume and fight crime. That does sound like fun, but that is not necessarily a real world superhero.

We can do little things everyday that can make us superheroes...

Do random acts of kindness, give when you can, smile and show kindness and respect to others.

There are so many things we can do, every single day.

What Are You Thankful For?

Once again, the time of the year that we set aside to be thankful for has arrived. I think that too often we all see this holiday as nothing more then a time to over eat, great food. Now don't get me wrong, that is definately a part of it. But I think we all know what this holiday is really about:

Being thankful for all we have, expressing that gratitude, spending time with those we love, and i believe that forgiveness is also a big part of this time of year as well.

So, what are you thankful for?

I know that many people are really struggling right now, and I wish I could do something to help, but we still need to be thankful for what we do have. We need to find the positives and hold on to those thoughts.

I am grateful for my amazing wife, my incredible kids, my wonderful parents and all those I love. I would do anything for my family and they would do anything for me. That is something I am thankful for all year round.

I want to wish you all an amazing Thanksgiving and an incredible life. You deserve it!

“Hike For Our Heroes”

Former Army specialist Troy Yocum has decided to take steps to help his fellow veterans by walking a loop around the country, in hopes to raising $5 million.

Non-profit groups dedicated to helping veterans are unable to help everyone due to overwhelming amounts of requests. So Yocum is going to lend a hand.

His goal is to walk 7,000 miles in his 16-month journey. As of Nov 18^th, he had raised more than $105,000 and walked 3,527 miles bringing him to Palm Desert, Calif.

Yocun still has a long way to go, both with money and in miles, but he is still staying strong, doing what he believes is right.

I really respect him for his incredible act of strength and kindness. And I know they are many others out there willing to make a difference.

I encourage you to find a cause you can get excited about and do something amazing.

Homeless Man Finds $3,300 Cash, And Returns It!

Dave Tally has been homeless for the last 11 years in Arizona. And earlier this month he found a backpack with a laptop and $3,300 in cash.

What would you do if you backpack full of money?

Well, Tally decided to do the right thing and return it to the owner. And I'm sure that he and most of us would be tempted to take the money, especially in these tough times.

Bryan Belanger was very surprised and appreciative when Tally tracked him down to return his backpack and even gave him a reward for his honesty and integrity.

In these times, it is very temping to take the wrong path, but you can do the right thing. And you will be rewarded. That is how the universe works.

"Ripples of Kindness"

All it takes is one small act of kindness and you can start a ripple effect of kindness...

Yahoo! has launched the "Ripple of Kindness" campaign just in time for the holidays. And they are encouraging people to do a randon act of kindness and then update their online status so that their kind act will inpire others do kind acts.

If you want to create your own ripple effect of kindness, then here is some advice from Yahoo!:

"Do something nice for someone! From buying someone's groceries, to donating time at your local food bank, to volunteering at the animal shelter, to handing out umbrellas on a rainy day. It's up to you!
Then, inspire others. Update your status on Yahoo! with what you've done at http://kindness.yahoo.com/. Share your update on other social networks - the more people who click on your update, the bigger your ripple of kindness will be."

This is so awesome, this way you can actually see the effect that one person can make on the world.

First Time Since Vietnam

On Tuesday, President Obama presented the Medal of Honor to a real US hero of the war in Afghanistan. This is the first time a living soldier has received the Medal of Honor since Vietnam.

Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta was only 22 years when he rescued 2 fellow riflemen who were being dragged away by Taliban fighters during combat on Oct 25, 2007 in Afghanistan.

During this heroic act, Giunta was hit twice when pulling one of his comrades to safety. This is a hero.

Giunta joins an exclusive group of 87 decorated veterans still alive today to have received the Medal of Honor. The Medal of Honor has been awarded 3,500 times in 147 years, including to 1,522 recipients during the Civil War.

Now I’m not saying that you need to join the military to be a hero, but there is no denying the fact that Staff Sergeant Giunta is a true American Hero.

Let him be an inspiration to us all that we are all capable of these type of heroic acts.

The Rich Are Giving Away Their Money!

Bill and Melinda Gates plan to give away 90% of the their money to help improve education in the U.S. and health around the world. This wealthy couple is also asking others as fortunate as them to give away at least 50% of their wealth as well.

The Gates’ along with Warren Buffet, are having secret dinner’s with the nation’s richest people to ask them to pledge half of their wealth to charity.

I know most people will say that these people have more then enough money so giving is no problem for them. And that is mostly true. But they are still giving, and they don’t have to.

I think that kind of makes them heroes, don’t you?

I know there is value in giving. It’s been proven and still people don’t believe, but when you give, you get back more then what you gave. You are probably not going to get anything thing from the source you gave to though. And you shouldn’t expect to, the value of the gift is lessened when expect whoever you gave to, to give you something in return.

Are you able to give?

The amount you give is not important, it is the act of giving that is important. So if you have the means to give, anything, then give.

These wealthy people are an inspiration, so be inspired.

This was truly an emotional and wonderful experience that inspired him to launch the $100 Challenge.

On Dec. 4th, Andrew is asking people to take $100 and spend it “creating magic for strangers randomly.” Wherever you feel inspired to give, GIVE. You will feel great and you are not alone.

Crimson Fist And Metadata To The Rescue!

It seems that there are heroes emerging in our world of need. Real superheroes do exist...

On Friday afternoon, the Crimson Fist and his sidekick, Metadata showed up to a Downtown Atlanta parking garage to help the local homeless.

Due to the heat, dehydration has been a problem for those on the streets. So the heroic team decided to do something about it, bringing them bottles of water, crackers and fruits snacks. These costumes crusaders are an example to us all that we don't have to live in a comic book to be a real superhero.

So are you going to join The Crimson Fist and Metadata in the fight for a better world?

Random Act Of Kindness Day!

Volunteers went around to their neighbor's mail boxes and tucked thank-you notes into them on Tuesday...

They went to the local gas station and pumped gas and cleaned windows for unsuspected stranger. They bagged groceries and returned carts at the grocery store.

These people are an inspiration, showing all of us that kind people are out there. We can all make a difference. Why not start today? Go out and do something nice for someone else, show them that you care, that you are not okay with a world of people that don't care. Inspire others!!!

Today is Veterans Day, the day we honor the men and women that preserve our way of life. We celebrate our Veterans annually on Nov 11th. And why is that day so important. Well November 11th is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. The men and women our the armed forces are truly heroes. Thanks to those who have risked their lives and those who have giving their lives, we live in the greatest country in the world and enjoy the freedoms that others will never know. So thank you! You are an inspiration to us all and we will never forget the sacrifices made for us.
