• The Square Cash Debit Card is now offering all customers something called ‘Cash Boost’. Basically you choose one place or category to earn cash back in. Some examples:
  • $1 off at coffee shops ($1.5 minimum spend)
  • $1 off at Subway ($1.5 minimum spend)
  • 5% off at Whole Foods
  • 10% off at Chick-fil-A
  • 15% off at Chipotle
  • 10% off at Panera
  • 15% off at Shake Shack
• You can change your boost once every 24 hours and you can use it once every 2 hours

Our Verdict

They tested a similar feature on a small subset of users, offering $1.5 back at coffee shops. $1 back at coffee shops is still great though, especially since those transactions are usually small and frequent (e.g daily cup) rather than one large purchase less often. Quite sad that this debit card has a better rewards program than the Chase Starbucks card. You should also still be able to get a $10 bonus for sending money via Square cash the first time.

We have added a Resy Credit eligible badge to Resy venues pages to provide additional clarity to diners at the time of booking. We have not removed Resy venues that are eligible today and will be adding more eligible venues later this year when Tock venues become bookable on Resy

I’m still of the opinion that in the fullness of time this will lead to a nerf, but in the short to medium term it seems that is incorrect. 

Original post: American Express is nerfing the Resy credits that Platinum & Gold cards offer by restricting the credits to select restaurants. Statements are showing the following:

Update to the Resy Credit Benefit

Effective August 1, 2026, U.S. restaurants and other food and beverage establishments (e.g., wineries, cafes) must be indicated as eligible for the Resy Credit on the Resy website or the Resy app at the time of purchase to qualify for the benefit. Qualifying restaurants and other food and beverage establishments will be indicated as eligible on their booking page on the Resy website or the Resy app and are subject to change at any time.

When you check the Resy app it now lists restaurants as ‘This venue qualifies for the Resy Credit…’. Currently it seems like all restaurants are listed as being eligible, which makes sense as this change doesn’t come into effect until August 1, 2026. Even after that date I suspect most restaurants will remain eligible, the problem is that this can change at any moment and doesn’t give you any certainty going forward. It’s only a matter of time until restaurants begin to not be eligible. 

I suspect American Express will either start charging restaurants directly if they want to be eligible for this credit or use it to upsell other services. Some people are saying this is actually a good thing as some restaurants are on Resy but don’t accept American Express for example, I think in time we will definitely see that this is not a good thing.

According to a reader that went in branch to try and get their existing Chase checking account upgraded to Sapphire checking it seems that this account will be discontinued as Chase are phasing out that account. The reader wanted it to access ATMs worldwide with no fees and were informed they would need Chase Private Client checking going forward ($150,000 in assets to keep fee free). 

Other benefits from Chase Sapphire checking are as follows:

• No ATM fees worldwide (including ATM fee refunds for non Chase ATMs)
• No foreign exchange fees
• No fees for wire transfers (includes both domestic and international wires)

ATM refunds are fairly common (e.g Fidelity offers it) so not a huge loss.

Previously American Express has acquired Resy ($200 million) & Tock ($400 million). Earlier this year American Express announced it would be rolling Tock into Resy. American Express’ dining network will now have over 75,000 bookable venues after TheFork acquisition. The acquisition is expected to close before the end of 2026 and will continue to operate under the TheFork’s existing leadership team (this makes me think that TheFork won’t be folded into Resy). 

American Express recently announced that to be eligible to use Resy credits from the Platinum & Gold card restaurants would need to be indicated as ‘eligible for the Resy Credit on the Resy website or the Resy app’. 

Original post: The Chase Ink Plus is dropping office supply stores as a 5x earning category starting on October 1, 2026. This card is no longer available to new applicants but many readers have this card. It looks like 5x earning on office supply stores will be replaced by 5x on shipping. This is based on e-mails sent out to cardholders. I’m not entirely sure where Frequent Miler got the end date from?

Even for people that like shipping as a category you’re out of luck unless you hold the existing card as it’s not possible to product change to the Ink Plus any longer.  The question is also whether we will see other Ink cards lose 5x on office supply stores in the future.

Paze is a digital wallet offered by many financial institutions, including Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, PNC, Truist, US Bank, Wells Fargo, Citi, and many other banks and credit unions. It comes from the same company behind Zelle.

Our Verdict

Paze is the big bank’s effort to compete with the major online wallets for online checkout like Paypal and Apple Pay and Shopify in a direct-to-consumer way, similar to how the big banks successfully challenged other platforms for transferring money with their Zelle platform. Hopefully the competition will open up even more promotions to us as consumer as the wallets compete for dominance. 

Most of us have multiple cards with Chase, BofA, etc. You can get $10 x 10 per card. It’s a pain, but could be worth it to score hundreds of dollars of discounts or free stuff. Each credit or debit card you have with each of these banks (Chase, BofA, WF, etc) can get ten $10 credits. Seems like only personal credit/debit cards are working on Paze, but let us know what’s working for you with the various banks – the offer should be good on any card that works at checkout.

You don’t need to activate this offer – just make sure to check out with the Paze wallet and you’ll get up to $100 back on each card you use. 

Make sure the total on the final screen is $10 (no discounts or whatnot) since you need $10 minimum to be eligible. Dansdeals confirmed with Paze directly that gift card purchases from Newegg and similar merchants would qualify for the $10 credit. 

Some ideas and tips:

• The easiest for a lot of people is just to buy ten $10 Dunkin e-gift cards and then merge all the balances onto your main card. Am I limited to earning $100 back?

You can do the deal 10 times per card, so you’re limited by how many eligible cards you have. It’s limited per card, not by bank or financial institution. 

I’m getting an error when I try to log in, what should I do?

If you’re getting the following error: “When trying to log in: We’re having trouble signing you in.Please try again later.” then try using a different browser. If that doesn’t work then I’d recommend trying to use a different internet connection to see if it resolves the issue. 

Will Newegg block my account if I buy too many gift cards?

Normally if you try to purchase too many gift cards from Newegg they stop processing them. There doesn’t seem to be any hard/fast rules and Newegg is getting slammed currently so processing is taking longer than normal.

• You are limited to 5 per brand though per 24 hour period (this is not new). The 5 limit is also per denomination so you could theoretically do $10 and $15 gift cards but return isn’t as good. 
• There is no velocity limit for purchasing NewEgg branded gift cards, just keep in mind they cannot be used to purchase third party gift cards. Report of Faze blocking account.

Will Paze actually pay out, this seems too good to be true?

The 10 x $10 question. The terms do state ‘If Paze, a participating financial institution, or participating merchant determines, in their sole discretion, that you have engaged in or attempted fraud, abuse, misuse, or gaming related to this Offer, you may be deemed ineligible for the Offer, and your participating financial institution may reverse or remove previously issued statement credits or temporarily prohibit you from earning statement credits‘ so there is some wiggle room for them to try and get out of this. I think what is more likely is that the terms get changed ASAP. 

Are gift cards eligible?

Yes, there is nothing that excludes gift cards in the terms and Dans Deals has spoken with a spokesperson from Paze and they stated gift cards are eligible. 

Is my card eligible?

Once you’ve added your card it should be eligible if the green banner shows up at checkout.

Paze suspended my account, why?

We aren’t sure why Paze is suspending some accounts, if you could share in the comments below if your account is suspended and details (when Paze account was added, how many cards added, how many offers redeemed etc) we can start collecting datapoints to try and determine why. When will the $10 be rewarded?

Terms say up to two billing cycles. 

Does this stack with Chase 10x deal?

I think it should stack with this deal, but don’t 100% know for sure. 

I can’t add X card?

100,000 matches the best offer we’ve ever seen. Standard offer is 60k and sometimes we’ve seen 75k. We’ll add this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.
