Not much to say about this product other than it kills fleas and that it works. Our cat had a flea problem that the cheaper products wouldn't take care of, but two weeks after the first application of Frontline all of his fleas disappeared. It doesn't work instantly so if you want to get rid of the little buggers quickly I would give your cat flea bath first and then apply Frontline after.

My vet recommended this when we got a dog. Our three cats are indoor animals, but her points were that #1 - any mosquito/flea/tick that makes it indoors is a potential carrier of several diseases (for humans too), and #2 - now that we have a dog, fleas or ticks can be brought inside. I have been using program for my dogs for years. I shopped around and Amazon had the best price--with the sales tax is was at most even with the next competitor but Amazon is "customer service conscious" and had free shipping. It was a no-brainer. I buy the large dog size and cut them in 4 parts--which gives 4 doses per tablet if your dog is between 11 1/2 pounds and 22 1/2 pounds. This idea was recommended by my vet to help me to get the best value for my dollar. NOTE: PROGRAM DOES NOT KILL FLEAS--IT IS NOT INTENDED TO. IT IS LIKE A BIRTH-CONTROL PILL FOR FLEAS. YOUR DOG MAY be BITTEN BY FLEAS BUT THE FEMALES WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LAY EGGS. I use Program in conjunction with a flea and tick killer. I found the flea and tick killers that last "UP TO" 30 days--don't last 30 days but it would be risky to reapply pesticides before the recommended date. I love this product. It works GREAT with no nasty chemicals. Only draw back is it only works for fleas (as far as I know.) If ticks or mange is a problem in your area try Frontline Plus or Revolution. My daughter brought home a mangy mutt who was running the mean streets of Tacoma and now all my dogs are suffering. Frontline and Rev. will help control the mange, but not completely get rid of it. So we are using the latter products until that problem is controlled, but then we'll be back to The Program. Do love the prod cut!

I'm now a convert to Program and the overall approach of growth-regulation (as opposed to insecticide) meds when it comes to controlling fleas on our dogs and cats over the long haul. No matter how effective an insecticide product may be, unless it can do something to keep those thousands of flea larvae and pupae from growing into nasty egg-producing adult fleas, the flea population is always going to find a way to survive. By the way, of course you've got to treat the house with a growth regulator, too, but that's not hard to do, and it's a lot safer than bombing with an insecticide. We had a vicious infestation problem this past summer that a combination of Program, Capstar and Martin's I.G. Regulator solved.

If ticks are not a major concern, then definitely go with PROGRAM. The vets are just making so much money off products they sell, it's highway robbery..
They want to sell you the most expensive product they carry, so automatically will recommend (Whatever that may be at the time).

I buy K9 Advantix over the other popular flea treatment brands because it is the only one that repels mosquitos and biting flies. My dogs have extremely short hair, and practically none on their bellies, so that it repels the insects really sold me on this product. It's easy to apply and lasts a month. My dogs have sensitive skin and this product has never given them any sort of reaction.

I used to swear by Frontline until our groomer started finding fleas and tics on our Schnauzers. Frontline had always been such a lifesaver. I don't know whether they changed their formula or my three dogs suddenly developed a resistance to the product. I can remember life prior to Frontline, where the only alternative was flea/tic sprays and powders and I was afraid we were going to return to those days. That's when we decided to try Advantix. We have not had any problem yet. My vet said this is a banner year for tics but our pets seem to be protected so far, with no adverse reaction to the product. I actually had to purchase Advantix in 3 levels--for the different weights of our dogs--below 21 lbs, 21-55 lbs, and over 55 lbs (for a local stray who was dropped off in our neighborhood).

I got this feeder so that my pet sitter would only have to stop by once a day while I was gone. Overall I am pretty satisfied with the product. The doors are a little flimsy, and the battery compartment does not have a cover, but the timer works fine. I have not had a problem with my cats breaking into it. I used the trick someone suggested (the 3M Command velcro type picture hangers) to secure it to the floor. I put about 5 of them on there to make it extra secure. The product does what it claims to do, for a pretty decent price. Overall, I would reccommend it to others.

excellent product, it really works. we bought one for each cat. only problem is that directions are written small and on inside of unit. they should include an instruction sheet separately. both cats are so smart that they sit in front of the feeders 5 minutes before the food appears. another feature is that we were able to leave the house for two days, not pay a cat sitter and didn't worry that they wouldn't eat. i would recommend this product.

Had some initial issues as the instructions on the inside peeled off and got the tray stuck. Removed it and it has been working like a charm since.
I'm using this invention to treat my cat to a meal of Sheeba per day when I am off working during the week (no worries, I have the Petporte chip reading cat flap to allow my cat going in and out of its sanctuary as it pleases :) ).
However, I am hoping PetSafe will announce a model with a better cooling solution or some system to preserve the food longer. As it is, with a standard cooling element you put in the freezer being inserted in a designated spot, my cat will only accept the food the first three days. Then she will keep to the dry food for the rest of the week.

I don't do reviews much.... but when I find an exceptional product, I just might go there.

When spending good hard-earned $$ on things -- and expecting perfection from my expectations and/or needs.... I might be considered a bit finicky. Knowledge that I can't be alone in 'expectations' from a product', I'm happy to offer the occassional 'beyond-satisfaction' review. And when it comes to one's pet -- others in need of a similar item should hear from those of us HAPPY BEYOND EXPECTION.

My kitty is 14, almost 15. She swallowed magnets as a kitten (NEVER put pics on fridges folks!!!!! The humidity curls the edges and kittens find them fair game for play. DO NOT learn the hard way as I did... in fact, tell your friends the same.)

Due to the above nightmare, she can only eat approx 10-20 kibbles @ a time; any more and she'll get sick within 5 minutes. AND, she's constantly hungry.... to the point of begging (I can't blame her, I'd be hungry too esp if my intestines were ruined for life). So, for the last 14 years, I've fed her small amts of kibble every 20-30 minutes -- both before leaving for work and after arriving home in the evenings.

Why it took me so long to get an automatic feeder?

I didn't like what was out there -- too little feedings while I was gone // the top cover of the feeder moved rather than the bowl bottom (the pet had to make their way around the feeder rather than eat from the same direction) // the feeders were too easy to defeat and get to food stored for the next feeding (somewhat defeating the entire purpose) // and cost (although that never did nor will make a difference) --- but 2-3 feedings while I was gone and the 'too easy access to the rest of the day's feedings' didn't quite cut it for the $80+ pricetag of not-too-long-ago auto feeders. HAPPILY, automatic feeders have NOW found their evolutionary path!!!

My decision was based upon the 'wildvet05' review found here. I had 2 feeders picked out... this one and another brand. Wildvet05 (and a few other reviewers) convinced me to purchase this one.

There's 5 feedings; although 1 of these 5 feedings don't count in my world... I (and most likely you) can only use 4 of these feedings. Basically, the 5th is gobbled up as soon as it is placed into feeder bowl. So I've now got feedings @ 12 noon, 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm. I still use Sage's regular food plate for pre & post work feeding --- but I happily now live peacefully at work knowing that she's got 4 feedings while I'm gone during the day (and that she cannot get into the later feedings). I cannot begin to express my contentness AND my happiness in knowing that she's being well fed while I'm gone.

Her behavior when I come home from work is so much more subdued now VS 'pre' the automatic feeder. Sure, she's hungry -- but she doesn't act as though I've starved her for the last 2 days. She is happy; I am BEYOND HAPPY!!

And -- due to her age, and being the runt of her litter.... at almost 15, I've now started adding Tomlyn's Nutri-Cal for cats in 'every other feeding bowl' in addition to her Science Diet Sensitive Stomach kibble. She's only a wee 5.5 lbs --and although a senior, the Nutri-Cal is waaaay better than any 'senior supplement' ---- it helps to beef her up as opposed to the 'senior stuff' that otherwise trys to slim down older cats (my need, maybe not yours). And.... not only does it help to put on a bit of weight --- she AB LOVES the stuff!!!! It fills her up just as though I'd have given her a full bowl of 15 kibbles. She walks away content. It's basically as though the malty Nutri-Cal paste is a whole meal in and of itself (it can be given as a meal substitute for pets who cannot take food.... basically a meal supplement of sorts). I've given her enough of this Nutri-Cal where I actually believe that it also 'calms her tummy' after (or in-between) her kibble meals -- something that I never experienced with her before. I can actually feed her more often and not worry about her getting sick. It truly seems as though Sage is getting SO MUCH MORE from her feedings since I started with both the Nutri-Cal and this automatic feeder.

So.... while exiting here with a babbling beginning, I end with --- this feeder IS BEYOND THE BEE'S KNEES!!!!! This feeder combined with both kibble and Nutri-Cal goes WAY BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS..... all while I'm gone and unavailable to feed my little girl who I love so much.

Should you ever need a feeder for those times you're not at home..... THIS IS THE BEST FEEDER you will find: 1) for your $$.... 2) for your contentment knowing that your pet is happily eating while you're unavailable to be there.... and,
3) knowing that they can't sneak the next feeding.

Just remember that this is really a 4 meal feeder while gone.... not a 5 meal feeder. Should my description not make sense.... you'll realize just what I mean once you own it. That is not to say that this feeder ain't FAB.... for IT IS!

IT WILL most likely be the first & last feeder you'll ever need (unless of course you'll need 2 or more of them ;)

PS: teaching your pet the sound of the advancing bowls... totally unnecessary IMHO. Sage wanders into the kitchen enough to hopefully find food, and I have yet to find uneaten food. Sure, at first I'd come home to maybe 1 or 2 of the bowls uneaten.... but that hasn't happened since the third day. She's keyed into the process, although she still doesn't realize the sound of the 'bowl advancement'. Perhaps beause there's enough other sounds going on at home. I really don't think that you'll have to worry about 'training' your pet to the sound.... but then again - just MHO :)

Overall I have been very happy with this product. I have been using it for over a month now to provide my cat with multiple meals throughout the day. The sound the machine makes when rotating the new food into position startled my cat at first, but she quickly learned that it means meal time. She now goes running to the machine whenever she hears it.

What I like most about this feeder is that it allows you to set the exact time(s) at which you would like your pet to be fed. It is easy to program the feeding times and the instructions are right on the machine in case you forget. The device also seems to be quite sturdy, at least against prying by a cat. It is made of heavy plastic and while my cat has made many attempts, she cannot pry it open. I would be less confident that a dog would not be able to open it.

I do wish that the mechanical aspects of the machine were more user friendly. It is difficult to get the feeding tray aligned perfectly, which is necessary to ensure that the whole feeding compartment will be exposed when the tray rotates. It was also quite difficult to get the batteries into the machine. Luckily, they do not seem to need to be changed often.

I should also note that while the machine says it feed 5 meals, meal 1 will be available to your pet right away, so it really only feeds 4 meals at the times you enter in.

I'm disappointed with this cat waterer. I don't know what constitutes it being called "Gourmet". It's looks nice but it's very hard to pick up if you need to pour some of the water out to freshen it, due to the bowl being a very flexible plastic/rubber--being hollow underneath instead of solid. I would never have purchased it had i known this.

The lid leaks when inverted into the holder. My son advised me that it needs an O-ring to prevent the leaking. Being handicapped, boxing it up and getting to the post office to mail it back is a major hassle for me so I have to pay someone to do it for me (my son works during post office hours). By the time I go through all of that, I have spent more money than I paid for it originally. I would not recommend this product to anyone!!!!

No complaints for the price I paid for this. However, I would have paid a little extra if this thing came with some sort of screen over the water outlet. Cat hair and food tends to back up into the reservoir somehow, making me have to clean the whole thing very often. Of course, you should clean your pets' water dish regularly, so it's a minor inconvenience.

"Good Product but has some flaws" 2010-05-01

I bought this fountain last summer and it worked very well. The filter that arrived with the fountain lasted 4 weeks and worked wonderfully. When I replaced the filter, I noticed that there was black residue at the bottom of the reservoir. The new filter was bleeding into the water. So I called the company and the young lady who answered was very nice and recommended I rinse the filter in cold water before using it (she also sent me a pack of replacement filters gratis, she didn't have to do this). I replaced the water and tried another filter after rinsing it and again it bled into the water. I then used the fountain without a filter and it worked fine this way for a while but I noticed the mildew occurred a lot faster than with the filter.

Also, After several months of use the motor began to stick and was very difficult to remove during disassembly. Basically, I have mixed feelings about this fountain. It works well, but that filter has some issues. I've stopped using the fountain for everyday, its just too much trouble.

I have a medium sized Labrador, a large Doberman, and several cats. With two other smaller waterers in my home I am still finding I have to fill this unit up about every 14-18 hours which is not what I anticipated from reading the reviews. I have also found it to be the noisiest of all the waterers I have tried so far. I was hoping to find additional reservoirs with lids that could be filled and stored in the refrigerator and changed as needed but I don't think Drinkwell makes reservoirs that can be stored.

I have a cat that loves to drink from the sink. I was hoping that the fountain would keep the cat out of the sink and it helps but not totally. It took about one day for the dog to get used to the fountain. Overall I love it because I no longer have to worry about a dry water bowl. At first I was skeptical about the whole cleaning process but it isn't difficult. I like to empty it and refill it twice a week instead of once.

My dogs didn't take to it right away. It took awhile for them to get used to it. I gave it 5 stars because I'm not cleaning and filling up their water bowl every 4 hours (I have 2 big "kids"). I fill up the reservoir maybe once a day. Cleaning wasn't as bad as I thought after reading the other reviews I was dreading it, but its really not that hard. Save your money. Worst waterer I have ever purchased. Water in bowl must be changed and the bowl cleaned daily. The pump is noisy. The waterer takes alot of time to clean it even with the cleaning kit. My dog was fine with the pads - he did not try to chew them off or anything. They helped to add a bit more traction to his step during a period of sickness whan he was VERY unstable on his feet. However, they did come off, one by one over time. I suppose going outside in the rain, mud, snow, etc. loosened the adhesive. If I needed them for long term use, I would plan on one set per week.

I bought this collar for my boxer mix, having never used one of these training collars before. The collar arrived on time, however, it had absolutely no directions. I took my dog to the park and tried to use it and it kept flipping around and coming off; little did I know I was using it all wrong. I took my dog the following week to obedience training for the first time where my trainer showed me how to properly adjust the collar by taking out links, how to use it properly on my dog, etc. I just felt horrible about the first time we had tried it at the park and I had used it all wrong on him. Do not use this on your dog without getting some kind of proper instructions or you can hurt your dog. This product comes with nothing but a cheap box and a collar that was the wrong size for my dog. I measured my dog's current collar in order to buy this one and it was all wrong. The prongs should go all the way around the dog's neck and the one I ordered based on my dog's "neck" size only has prongs going around half of his neck so he's not getting the full effect. He's still kind of choking himself by pulling like he did with his old regular collar, however I will say after obedience training, my dog is walking like a dream. So what I would recommend is going to a class with your dog way more than I would recommend this collar. You'll both enjoy it a lot more!

I received this product just today and tried it out on my 5 month old rottweiler. This is my fourth dog in 15 years. I have a lot of choke chains in many sizes as well as collars for any age dog. Most of the things I buy for my dogs actually outlived my last three dogs cause I try to always buy sturdy quality products. This item is no exception; it is well made of sturdy nylon. I have found choke chains to be highly effective in keeping my current dog in check but cannot keep the choke chain on him if he is not being supervised. It was recommmended to me that this product can be worn like a typical collar and not be anymore hazardous to the dog choking than your run-of-the-mill collar. It true. This collar works like a choke chain but unlike the choke chain it is limited in how tight it will get. Now I don't have to take the choke chain off. I don't know how long I will use this because my other dogs used the choke only for short periods. However, this Rottweiler seems to be very strong willed so this may be his permanent collar. And it looks like this collar is made well enough.

It's very confusing to see all the Andis dog clippers listed on Amazon. I picked this kit as neither the cheapest or most expensive, mostly on the basis of the reviews. I had already tried my own clippers on the dog without much satisfaction. This groomer kit comes in a nice zipper case, and I appreciated the scissors, oil and assorted comb heads. (Could have really used a good hand comb). I was disappointed at the lack of instructions. The papers deal mainly with safety and maintenance issues, not operation. The 'de-shedding' battery-powered tool has absolutely no user instructions. In my cockapoo's coat, it is impossible to move through the fur. I am not sure what it is supposed to do. The clipper paperwork has very limited instructions. It is not clear what model is being referred to -- whether fixed or adjustable blade. There's no ID marking on the clipper itself. There is a small lever on the clippers but no info on what this is or how to adjust. For fine vs. course cut?? Similarly, the DVD portrays a different clipper model with blades that clip in and out, so most of that video showing combinations of different blades and combs is not very useful. Apprently Andis provides just one DVD for all its clippers, but used a high-end unit. If your dog has matted fur, don't expect a clipper to be able to cut through them. You need to just cut them out with scissors. The DVD says your dog's coat must be shampooed and free of mats before clipping with this kit. This clipper kit and instructions (or lack thereof) doesn't make for an easy job of dog grooming. If your dog has curley dense hair, you'll be better off going to a groomer. If you already have experience in grooming dogs, you should probably purchase a better model.

For 3 years I used cheap clippers on my dog, who is a pomacockapoo. His hair is like a pomeranian and using the cheap clippers took over an hour to groom his hair and even then it was really patchy. I bought these clippers for Christmas and the first time I used them, I loved them. They are so easy to use and do a wonderful job of making his hair look evenly cut. I would highly recommend these clippers for first time pet owners who are interested in saving some money and grooming their pets themselves.

Having used the tubnub for bathing my short-haired dog, I would say pass. It's ok. There is nothing wrong with it. The tubnub has sturdy construction and overall seems nice. I just don't find this to be of much benefit, and it can be difficult to remove the dog hair that does get caught between the nubs. I find that I don't care to use this while giving my dog a bath. This is not a necessary tool nor does it add any convenience factor. So if you are thinking about it, just pass. Just not impressed.

I've been using the Flexi lead for about two years now and love this brand of retractable leashes above all others. It's very sturdy and comfortable to hold. My Flexi lead has been banged around so many times and has even been dropped in the ocean and lost in the sand at the beach yet it still works perfectly. This is a great tool for teaching and reinforcing recall with your dog, before moving on to a drag line or complete off-lead training.

I like to use it when we go hiking so my dog is free to wander ahead and even use it during normal walks through the neighborhood. Of course, if you intend on using this kind of leash for your typical neighborhood/park walk your dog should already be trained to walk on a loose leash. Nothing irritates me more than seeing people with out of control and untrained dogs on a flexi lead and owners who have no idea how to even operate this tool.

Overall, this is a great product for those who take the time to learn how to use it correctly.

It's gives your dog enough room to walk & sniff, but not enough to wander too far or get tangled. And of course I love the fact that hemp is Earth Friendly. I wish it came in other colors though, there is a choice of only 3.

Love this leash. Great quality and really takes a good pull. Perfect if you have a medium or large dog. My only issue with this leash is the clip that connects to the collar. Nothing has happened with this one, but in the past, I've had issues with the spring mechanism getting loose and the dog being able to get off the leash. Instead, I use a carabiner or something similar, which you can pick up at any hardware store. Gives a little extra protection, in my opinion. Great leash though. The nicest I've had, with great colors you won't find a lot of places.

Only issue I have is that my dog only weighs 13 pounds and the pull is a little tough for him, but once he has been on it for a few minutes he gets used to it. Works very well and prevents him from getting all tangled much better than a regular tie out. All in all a great device well worth the $15 I paid for it.

I wanted a retractable tie out for my shih-tzu, Molly and this product is just what I was looking for. I like the fact that the top of the tie out rotates completely around, preventing tangles. I was concerned that my 13 lb. dog would be too small to handle the force of the retraction, but she adjusted to this tie out very quickly. The only "negative" is that although the line is nearly 20 ft., it is just a bit too short for our needs. I would definitely recommend this product. The best part is no more tripping over the tie out lying loose in the yard and my home has a much neater appearance.

I've cycled through numerous brands of dog treats, but these treats from Blue Dog Bakery are my dog's paws-down favorites. He's a 12-year-old cocker spaniel. We've shared these treats with a 2-year-old Golden Doodle who has the same reaction: the cookies (and yes, that's just what they seem like) are gobbled up in micro-seconds. When I look at the ingredients list, I'm tempted to try the treats myself -- they look healthier than a lot of the people-treats on the shelves in the supermarket. Can't recommend these highly enough.

My dog recently had 19 teeth extracted (dogs have 42 teeth, so that was nearly half of her teeth). I needed to find an all natural, healthy treat which is soft. This product is all of those. The main flavor is peanut butter, which my dog loves. She had no problems whatsoever eating these treats. I recommend this product for any dog with dental issues, or if your dog likes peanut butter. They are reasonably priced, too, which was okay with me!

I ordered 6 boxes and had to give then away because both my dogs would not eat them. My one dog is a picky eater but the other usually will eat anything. I guess peanut butter and molasses is not pleasing to their palates. Perhaps the other flavors are worth trying but I will pass for now.

"Moldy sausages" 2010-04-02

Some bags contain moldy sausages and they all have a label showing LOT 0273. I still have the bags with moldy sausages in my refrigerator.
I opened the bag and feed the treat to my pet without realizing some of the sausage are moldy. Until I take a closer look at it when my pet refused the treat, then I realized the problem. The bags was not opened some time ago and the sausage used in a later day.
I called up Amazon and they replaced the shipment with no delay and apologized.
I also called up the phone number shown on the plastic bag but have not yet heard from the manufacturer.
I believe this is as serious as the pet feed that killed some of the pets last years that was contaminated and manufactured in China.

My dogs love these and they seem like they are made out of quality ingredients from reading the package but it says in bold letters across the back, "Must Be Refrigerated After Opening". I don't know about you, but my dogs treats are kept in a certain area and they are not fed people food. Therefore, I feel it is sending the wrong message to be opening the fridge and giving my dogs a treat out of it since now they stand by the fridge expectantly everytime I open it and they are aware that that is where the people food is kept. It is very inconvenient to have to keep these in the fridge so I will not be purchasing them again. Also, the portion size is very small for the price.

I was skeptical to give my yorkie rawhides but my vet said it would be okay. These were the only treats that would keep him entertained since he doesn't care much for toys and they were very easy to find. Unfortunately my dog seemed to swallow a large piece of the mini dingo rawhides yesterday. At 2 am I heard my dog let out a loud howl that I have never heard before, I went to check on him and found him gagging and obviously trying to throw something up. Right as I was about to take him to the animal hospital he threw up the rawhide and he's all better now. I'm NEVER giving him a rawhide treat, they swell in the dog's stomach and can kill them. I rather not take that risk with my dog.

My 5 month old french bulldog puppy almost died on the first bone tonight. He chewed it down and attempted to swallow a piece that was too big to go down his throat. When he began gagging and throwing up I had to stick my hand down his throat to push the lodged bone into his stomach. VERY scary and upset me greatly. I do NOT recommend these bones. There is even a choking warning on the back in small writing. Keep your pet safe and purchase MUCH BIGGER bones for them, and take away anything too small so they cannot choke or get hurt.
