The first snow storms came by and I really thought Augusto would be trying to stay inside!

I thought he would be mad at me for bringing him to the ass cold country instead of his warm beaches of Mexico. Well I was wrong!

This young chico loves the snow! He's been running in the park like crazy for one hour today with his brother Leo. I thought it would be a good idea to take a few snaps while they were having a good time...

I came back grom Toronto a week ago and I started working on the pictures I took during my pet studio session.Andrew came by that weekend and he really made my day. This big fluffy dude was such a charm. He posed like a pro in front of the camera. Yeah he got a bit of drewl all over the floors and set, but his big soft eyes made up for the mess. It's the first time I have a Bernese dog in the studio and I was so surprised at how calm he was compared to all the other Bernese dogs I had done photography with in the past.

Thanks Andrew for giving me the change to take some snapshots of your big friendly face!

This weekend I had the chance to do a session for the Eukanuba pet food company. Actually this advertising agency called me and asked if I was interested in a photo shoot with a Eukaneuba contest winner. Well I had the pleasure to shoot for an afternoon with Madison, a beautiful samoyed dog. No need to tell you that she had a lot of people looking at her running around the Lac aux Castors. I'm presently working on arranging the pictures for the client. This one especially caught my eye. So I'm sharing a first picture from the shoot. I'll post more when I'm done with the fine tuning.

Once again I went to Animatch to take more dog pictures. It's amazing the dogs that are available for adoption. On a good note, we are getting more requests form people who want to adopt so it's great!

Seem like all the hard work is paying off. I guess most have finished their vacations now so they are getting ready for winter and are thinking that a good friend could be a nice addition to the the family. Let's just hop that they realize that a dog is more than just a toy you can put aside when you don't feel like playing with it anymore.

They are around for a long time. And they need attention every day. Think about it before you decide to get a dog. It's a life changing decision.

Tristan is a shy, unassuming, boy who is a hugger not a fighter. Malnourished and abused, this sweet-natured Lab-X was found wandering in a field and brought to safety by a caring person. He’s experienced more life than other dogs. Although he was dealt a bad hand, he responds with love and forgiveness. Shy at first, but with gentleness and attention he definitely will become a devoted companion. We have promised Tristan that from here on out, he will be happy every single day of his life.

I haven't posted in a month, but I still work every work at Animatch doing the dog photography. I'm always chocked by the  increased numbers of dogs I have to do every time.

This last session was the biggest of them all so far. 14 dogs in less than 2 hours! And those are just the new dogs. We still have a lot of dogs that are still at Animatch looking for a family. Enjoy this weeks dog pictures. And remember : Don't BUY your next best friend: ADOPT!... And send those to your friends and talk about places like Animatch. Six months old and already an orphan. Wallie is a little girl who came to Animatch with a special gift. She as super earring powers! 

The first time I met her (yes she's actually a girl) was last week on my animatch photo shoot. While I was actually taking pictures of her mom (who is also available for adoption), she kept barking for her. That is because she could not see her. You see Wallie is blind in one eye and I can't really say she sees very well with her other one. He mom was barking back to calm her down. "Wait a minute Wallie, I'm having my picture taken!"

Wallie would just move the head on one side and pull up her long ears to try to ear even further to figure out where her mommy was.

It was really special to see Wallie jump all over the place and all over her mom when we brought them back together...
I hope Wallie finds a good home where people treat her like she deserve.

We got some friends who visited last weekend and they brought their 3 year old Pitt named Maki. He's a young stud with a lot of energy but such a sweetheart. Even tho he knows he looks good, He was kind of shy in front of the camera tho hehe :).

We have been getting a lot more dogs recently. It's sadly pretty much the same in most of the rescues I volunteer with. People go on vacation, move or just don't feel like taking care of their friend when summer arrives. "Oh!, I need to get rid of Coco because I can't go on vacation with my family because I would need to pay for him to stay in a pension for a week. I should have known that a dog cost money and takes time to take care of BEFORE buying one at the pet store or from that breeder. Well Animatch will take care of my problem!" 

I have 4 dogs. I would sell my house and move if I was told that I had to get rid of one of them. I made a decision to adopt these dogs and I'll stick to my decision for their entire life. This last week again, 2 of them cost me 1500$ in medical bills and I'm not talking about the time spent driving and waiting at the vet either.

I don't care. Because they give it back to me in affection and friendship a thousand times every day!

Right now Animatch is way over capacity. So we have to refuse more than 2-3 dogs everyday. Those 2-3 dogs will eventually end up in a much different place than Animatch. A place where they don't have much of a chance to see the end of the month.

Please ADOPT if you KNOW you can handle a dog for the rest of it's life.

Every summer is the same. People move to a new home, condo or apartment and leave the animal they desperately wanted a year before. Out on a regular day to the shopping centre they came across one of those evil Pet Shops promoting animal abuse and fell into the trap. They came out of there, all exited and innocent, with a new puppy that they would care for a week and then realize that having a pet at home is a lot more complicated than that cactus they had purchased from the plant store. People! Wake up! these are living animals! They need attention! They need to be fed! They need to be taken care of! For more than just a month! 

I have 4 dogs that I adopted from Animatch and adopted from the beach of San Agustinillo. And this weekend, my girlfriend is at the chalet with her mom and grandpa and I stayed home because I had to take care of the dogs. (We can't bring 4 dogs to her grandpa chalet, it would be different if it was our chalet, but it's not)... This is just one example of compromise I decided to make to be able to care for the animals I decided to adopt.

Next time you think about adopting a dog or even worst buying a dog from a PetShop or "certified" breeder (ps: there are TONS of homeless pure breeds all over the place... look online!!) think about everything you will have to put aside to take care of this new friend. And don't adopt if you think you can't make these sacrifices.

Gimli is sweet little kitten living in a big 3 year old male schnauzer costume.

He's a pretty impressive dog and he's really calm and obedient. He came to Animatch because his guardian didn't have enough time for him. I'm sure he'll find a great family soon.

Dino was found recently in the fields behind the Animatch centre. There is a fire station near by and on of the fireman found him.The man was good enough to bring him to Animatch for a shelter and some health treatments. We don't know if Dino will ever find a new family. He's still going to have to meet our vet to see if he's got any major health problems. He's a very shy and old dog and they usually stay at Animatch for a long long time. Sadly, most people prefer puppies... Let's hope for the best for this poor little one.

Here is Dino's story form the Animatch website:

My name is Dino and I have a story to tell.  I’m about 10 years old and I figure I don’t have to mince my words – I’m gonna tell it like it is!  I was someone’s pet for many years.  I got old, my breath got a little stinky, my teeth needed some work, and I had a cyst that was just left untreated.  I loved my family, was always there for them, and even wagged my tail on days that I wasn’t feeling great.  One day they decided I was just too much of a problem and decided to pass the problem – meaning me – onto someone else.  The worst part is they took the cowardly way out and dumped me like a piece of garbage in a field.  I felt so frightened and abandoned that day; I will never forget the feeling of despair.  What were they thinking?  As luck would have it, the field where they decided to dump me was right beside the Animatch Centre.  The kind people took me in and promised that they would do all they could for me.  I get chills just thinking of what could have happened if I had ended up somewhere else.  It could have been “lights out” for me!  I guess my time wasn’t up and for that I am very grateful.  I am going to be neutered (they tell me it’s not so bad), have some dental work done, and the Doc is going to remove a cyst.  The Doc says that I’ll be up and around in no time.  If you are looking for a friend, I could sure use one too.  I’m ready to put the past behind and enjoy my senior years with a family who will smile when they see me coming!  I promise that there a lot of wagging left in this tail.  Fill in the Adoption Form and give me a chance to show my appreciation.
