I got this bed because I wanted a basket-style bed with orthopedic foam for our 16-year-old arthritic dog because the basket keeps her warm and the foam helps relieve the stiffness. But the foam in this bed isn't as dense or "convoluted" as the picture suggests. It does have some convolution but if you have a really old or really arthritic dog, you will need something under this bed for support. We cut up the old convoluted foam bed we had for her and stuffed it in so she is actually laying on that piece of foam. We also had a large square of styrofoam which we also cut and put underneath the bed (and it is held by the bed cover so the foam isn't visible). With those improvements, she absolutely adores the bed and isn't stiff when she gets out of it.

So the good parts of this bed are that:

A. The cover expands enough for you to add stuff to the bed.
B. The color doesn't show dirt.
C. The fur is warm.

You will need to get additional foam or other support if you have an older dog.

I bought the large size for my 60 lb. boxer. Because of her ability to turn into a tiny ball when sleeping, TWO of her could fit in the bed. Next time, I will buy the medium size...and I will buy this product again. The instant I took it out of the box and fluffed it up, she was all over it. My next test though, is how well this bed is going to make it through the industrial sized washer at the laundry mat. That is my only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. OK, yes, I had to be patient. I had to coax my 'babies' onto these beds with treats... that was the first day. Now I practically have to coax them OFF of the beds to wash the covers. I didn't get them here (no offense Amazon, but there are better prices out there AND worse, folks, research).

Another warning: if you have 2 similar in size dogs, don't get creative like I did. I bought one of the round and one of the rectangle... the round is thicker/higher than the rectangle... they struggle for possession of the round, so I'm giving in and ordering another round and sending the rectangle to my nephew's dog who doesn't know any better. ;-)

These beds are all they claim them to be. Both of my dogs are over 80 lbs. each, both love digging at their beds... No problem, they did only once in a great while, I guess the bed is so comfortable it doesn't need their adjustments; and when they do dig at it... nothing happens, the bed doesn't pop and go flying around the room, it doesn't hiss and deflate.
It just sits there and takes anything they can dish out. NOW HERE'S THE BEST NEWS... NO MORE SMELLY BEDS, NO MORE TRYING TO WASH HUGE DOG BEDS IN YOUR WASHER, NO MORE STRUGGLING TRYING TO GET WASHED ZIPPER COVERS BACK ONTO FILLERS THAT ARE ALL DISTORTED and dont' want to fit into the cover.

My dog loves this bed! He was confused as to what he was supposed to do with it at first, but once we got him on it and had him lie down and praised him, he got it. He sleeps and naps more often now. Also, we had a huge problem with our dog eating the blankets we originally had him sleep on. This bed is pretty much indestructible. They also give you a 1 year warranty. It's a bit of a pain to assemble but it's worth it. And make sure the top of the bed is assembled on the top. The whole purpose of this bed is that there is nothing for the dog to grab with his mouth and chew on. This bed is not quite as cushioned as the photograph may lead people to believe. I may have to open the inner pillow and stuff in a bit more polyfil in order to make it more comfortable for my pooch. The filling spreads and leaves the dog's elbows and knees on the hard floor and as a result she's not interested sleeping on it. Other than being understuffed, it's quite large if that's what you need- at 52'' diameter, it could accommodate a Dane, large Rottweiler, or other Mastiff-type dog (or just leave a lot of room for your smaller pup to spread out). The description lists this item as machine-washable- the care tag is quite a bit more specific- requiring owners use a front-loading commercial washer to wash the outer cover. The pillow may be fluffed in a commercial dryer (no words on washing). The plaid fleece cover top is very soft and muted in color. The cover bottom appears to be of the same material as some of Coleman's tents. The outer cover is secured via velcro closure. Overall, not bad for the money ( at Amazon's price )but it could be very much improved by more stuffing. So I put off buying a large cat scratcher for over a year because of the price. I thought smaller scratchers would be fine, but they never curbed my 2 cats' urges to use the couch/chair/bed/table as scratching posts. Additionally, they jumped up on the walls and shelves, desperately looking to climb something. Also, one of our cats cried incessantly at night wanting us to play with him and - when we wouldn't because we were trying to sleep at 3am - he would start scratching and playing with everything that he shouldn't!!!! I was at my wits end. I even considered declawing him but I really didn't want to do that, so this was my next step.

The cats LOVE their new play tower! When we first built it (which was very easy by the way - takes 20 minutes MAX), they were a little unsure of what to do with it. So I sprinkled some catnip on the top tower and in the cubby hole and they just went nuts. Now they play on it all the time and furniture/wall scratching - while not completely eliminated - is down 90%! Also, my cat doesn't cry at night anymore. He sleeps more (probably because he has more to do in the daytime now) and, when he is awake, he just claws the scratching posts (which are high enough to allow him to stretch out now) and climbs up and down.

The cubby hole could be just a little bigger, but it's the perfect size for our smaller cat (I put her favorite chew toy - and old sandal of mine - in there) and now she likes to sleep in there. Our bigger cat also finds his way in there too and just curls up in a ball since he doesn't have a lot of room to stretch when in there. Sometime we'll catch them playing with one in the cubby hole and the other teasing them from outside - it's very cute.

Also, for us, the product is very sturdy - a good thing since we have it near the TV - and it doesn't take up a lot of room in our small apartment.

My dogs love this bed and I would too if it were easier to wash. I ordered this bed in extra large for our retriever as I was finding it difficult to find a large bed. The size is fine, but the quality is disappointing. It is much more cheaply made and put together than it looks in the photo. When it arrived it had a terribly strong chemical smell. The cover does come off for washing, but is difficult to get back on and almost impossible to get back in its original position. Thus, once you wash it, it never looks the same again. The actual bed is just a shaped piece of foam that is only about 2 inches thick and has already compressed a bit. Our dog doesn't mind it (his other option is a tiled floor so the bed wins!), but I now regret not buying a more expensive bed because I'm going to have to replace this one in 6-12 months.

This is a terrific cushion for our dogs to lay on. We have a Boxer and a Boston Terrier. It's plenty big for both of them to lay on it together, even with a cat or two thrown in for good measure. It's large enough that the Boxer can lay flat on his side with his legs sticking straight out and not have anything hanging over the edge, but more often he prefers to curl up on it.
We've had this cushion for a month now, and our dogs prefer this to other cushions they have to choose from throughout the house. They use it every day. It's very soft, not a supportive kind of fill. I haven't gotten a look at the actual cushion inside the cover, but it doesn't get lumpy or misshapen or need redistributing to keep it straight. That means the filling doesn't move around leaving any uncushioned areas... there is always something soft under our dogs.
There weren't any colors available to match the room we have it in, but it turns out that the dark green looks pretty neutral. The fleecy cover hasn't gotten nappy and is still soft to the touch. I love the bed, so does the dog, but it didn't come in blue as I had ordered, it is black. And, the poly fill is slippery under a large dog's feet (under mine, as well), so watch out! I bought this bed for my five cats. I thought that the medium versus the small would be best for my cats who vary between 8 and 12 pounds. It's bigger than I thought! But that is ok because the cats seem to like it anyway. I have two cats that love to lie together and this bed is perfect for them. The bed is made of foam with a removable, washable cover. The fact that the cover is washable is a big plus for me. I've found other cat beds that I like, but I cannot wash them. I've rated this product four stars because my pets like it and I like the product. I've also uploaded some pictures to help give a better perspective on the bed's size and features. I'll update the review after I wash the cover.
