Toto is a 4 year old greyhound boy who has never raced. He first came to us 2 years ago with his identical sister Tiny. Both hounds were adopted, but since then sadly Toto’s owners have decided he is not suitable for them as he has sadly found children to be unpredictable and a bit frightening. Toto is a beautiful brindle boy who has been well looked after throughout his life, and is in great health.



~ Personality ~
Toto is an affectionate, confident hound. He is sociable, enjoys being out, and absolutely loves people. He has always been treated well by people and greatly enjoys human company, often preferring it to other dogs. He is getting to know his foster mum now and knows she will protect him if something scary happens.



Toto is also very inquisitive and eager to learn about his surroundings. He can be a bit of a clown too and loves playing with squeaky toys. He is in short a lovely boy with a big character and has a lot to offer. Given his love for people, with the right family Toto has amazing potential to be the bestest best friend anyone could ask for.



~ In the Home ~
Toto is well used to living in a home, having spent 2 years in his previous home. He is now in a foster care and is recovering from the ordeal of having to uproot and move to a new home. He sleeps soundly through the night, though tends to be a bit of an early bird! He can be left completely alone with no issues, and doesn’t chew.



~ Other Animals ~
Toto is good at greeting dogs of all shapes and sizes. He will happily say hello to everyone he meets (human or canine) when he is out on his walks, but will not make a fuss if he doesn’t get to say hello either. Toto could share his home with another dog but a laid back female companion would work best. Alternatively he can live as an only dog very happily. He is not suitable to live with cats, but does not have a high prey drive.



~ Out and About ~
Toto walks well on the lead and doesn’t pull. He is used to going to public events such as rescue fundraisers and is always at his best behaviour. Like any greyhound, Toto does not need much more than two 30min walks a day with some offlead romping once or twice a week. He is very content to spend the rest of his day snoozing on the sofa.



~ Where Can I Live? ~
Because of his uneasiness around children, Toto will need a home without young children and without the possibility of children in the future. He is fine with teenagers and young adults, it is simply the unpredictable nature of young children that can unnerve him. He also enjoys his peace and may not like getting woken up suddenly, which could happen with a young child that doesn’t understand his nature.

Toto is used to being an only dog and can be left happily as long as he gets a toilet break halfway through the day. Though friendly when meeting other dogs, he does not always require their company and so he is ideal as an only dog.

With the right family this boy has so much potential and loyal love to give, we hope that he finds his forever home very soon. What he needs most of all is to quickly find his new home before he gets attached to his foster family and has to get uprooted once again.



~ Where Am I? ~
Toto is currently in a foster home in Norfolk. He can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you may be required to travel to his foster home to meet and collect him.

Meet the lovely Posie. She is a 2 year old ex-racing greyhound girl who was not fast enough for the track. She is now looking for a pet home to call her own. Posie is a striking brindle girl with beautiful eyes and an intelligent expression. She is in very good condition and has been well looked after before coming to us.



~ Personality ~
Posie is a lovely girl, very sweet and affectionate. She likes interacting with people and loves getting fuss and cuddles. Posie has just recently entered a foster home so we will update with more details on her once we get to know her a bit more. Please don’t let that stop you from enquiring about her though, we don’t think this brindle beauty will be waiting for long!



~ In the Home ~
Posie has just recently moved to a foster home, where she is experiencing living in a house with a loving family for the very first time. She is doing very well, and we will update with her progress soon.



~ Other Animals ~
Posie is in general very good with other dogs of all sizes, and enjoys going for walks with them. She is currently a bit grumpy about sharing her toys with other dogs, but we think this resource guarding is due to the fact that Posie has never had a toy to call her own before. Once she realises that there's plenty of squeaky ball to go around, we think she will settle and learn that it’s more fun to share. Posie is not cat friendly.



~ Out and About ~
Like most greyhounds, Posie is a real couch potato and will not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week. She walks well on the lead and is a fun friend to walk with. She is bright and inquisitive and loves exploring the world around her.



~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

Meet little Lucky. She is a 2.5 year old greyhound girl with a beautifully marked brindle coat and 4 sets of white toes. She is a petite little girl at just 25” to the shoulder, and curls up oh so small on the sofa. This lass is a real stunner and we don’t expect her to be hanging around for long! She was handed in to us along with her sister, Gypsy, who has already been rehomed.



~ Personality ~
Lucky is just super in every way. She is very affectionate and sweet but also confident, with the most heart melting expression we’ve seen in a long time! She adores people and is just delighted now that she is in a foster home getting all the love and fuss she wants. Meet this girl and she is guaranteed to wriggle her way straight to your heart.



~ In the Home ~
Lucky is doing very well in her foster home, making her foster parents proud for the last 3 months. She is sharing her foster home with other dogs and gets along brilliantly with them. She shares her food and toys without a fuss, and loves to run just as much as she loves to curl up with you and watch the telly. She can have a bit of trouble distinguishing shoes from toys, but she’s learning at she goes.

Lucky is also just as good with children and is gentle in the home. She would be a really great family dog and can go to a home with children over the age of 8. She can also have moments of bouncy excitement, such as during play or before a walk, and this is being gradually worked on with her fosterers. She is not uncontrollable, just sometimes all the love she has can spill over!

Lucky can be left with other dogs for company with no problems at all. She has also been left for short periods with just a kong for company without trouble, and this is something that could be worked on and lengthened by her new owners if needed.



~ Other Animals ~
Lucky is great with other dogs of all sizes, enjoys meeting them and loves a good run with any that can keep up with her. She would do great in a home with another dog or two to play with her and keep her entertained, especially if she is to be left for periods of time. Her excitement at having a play buddy can sometimes means she gets a bit carried away, so she might be a bit OTT for a very small or delicate dog. Lucky likes her rough and tumble! She is not suitable for a home with cats, though doesn’t create a huge fuss if she sees them when out walking.



~ Out and About ~
Lucky is a good girl on her walks, friendly and inquisitive. She gets a bit bouncy when she sees the leads, but soon calms down once out on the walk. This lovely girl has not seen much of the world up until now, so absolutely everything interests her and is worth exploring. She still has a lot to experience in the big wide world, but is very eager to learn and see it all. She has learned that the portal to all things fun and new is the car, so she absolutely loves going on car journeys. She can also be left in the car for short periods of time without worry.



Lucky’s fosterer feels that because she is such a young, exuberant girl, she would benefit from getting a decent amount of daily exercise with several offlead romps a week if possible. Her recall training is coming along very well, and she is a good girl who is eager to learn and listen when needed.

Temperment :

Floyd is a lovely boy who previously lived with a family which included a toddler - therefore is good around small children. He is very good with people and anxious to please. He has lived with a cat and is good with bitches. He can react defensively towards other male dogs when he is on the lead. However, has been fantastic at the Rescue with younger, neutered, male dogs. He has a very loving and affectionate temperment

Health :

Floyd was neutered on 18th May. He is very healthy, fully vaccinated, microchipped and has been routinely treated for fleas and worms.

Training :

Floyd is fully house-trained. He can travel well in the car. He knows most basic commands eg. sit, pay, off. He does pull on the lead and some training needs to be invested into this, but he's a quick learner. Floyd will happily fetch a tennis and return it to you.

Overall

Floyd needs a home where he will be mentally and physically stimulated. He is not the sort of dog that needs to walk for miles every day but he does enjoy his walk and a game with a ball. He is very affectionate and well behaved in the house.

The striking Dexie is a large 5 month old greyhound pup who has found his way over to us from Ireland. Dexie has a pristine white coat and black patches that makes the white shine all the brighter, and its amazingly soft. He really is a gorgeous boy, with a beautifully placed black patch on his head which means he has one black and one white ear. Dexie has a very endearing little expression that is very hard to resist!



~ Personality ~
Dexie has come to us very recently and has only been in his foster home for a few days. So far though, Dexie has proved to be an incredibly affectionate, loving boy who absolutely adores children and craves the company of other dogs. He is very dog savvy and listens to a telling off without trouble. Dexie has the potential to be a fantastic family dog and could live with children over the age of 8.



Dexie is understandably very confused and stressed right now from his recent upheaval, which is showing as an upset tummy and unsettled nights. Because of this, we will update with more accurate info on him in a week or two once he has started to relax and de-stress.





~ Medical Issues ~
Dear Dexie has slightly malformed front legs, and he is currently being fully checked out by a vet. Right now this is posing him absolutely no problems at all and he runs like the wind, but because it may be linked with a growth plate issue, KGUK want to find out whether it will have any effects in his later years. We will update on this when we hear from the vet.



~ In the Home ~
Dexie has just entered a home for the first time, and we will update with his progress here once he has had a couple of weeks to settle and get used to the huge change. As with all puppies, he needs a bit of time to learn the house rules and get the grasp of housetraining.



~ Other Animals ~
Dexie is sharing his foster home with other dogs and is heavily relying on their guidance right now as he transitions into the home and family life. It is likely this young boy will need another dog already present in his future home, and we expect he would slot brilliantly into an existing pack. He loves to play with other young dogs, but right now also needs an older role model to learn from. He has not been tested with cats yet, but this will be carried out soon.



~ Out and About ~
Dexie loves getting out to explore the world, and he is greatly enjoying his walks. His fosterer is working with his lead training which is coming along nicely. He is a super social, friendly boy who is bursting to make friends with everyone and everything he meets.

Dexie is being fostered in kennels in Norfolk. He can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you may be required to travel to his foster home to meet him.

Say hello to the very handsome Tazz! He is a 4 year old ex-coursing greyhound boy who is now firmly finished with the racing world and wants a family to call his own. Tazz is a very gorgeous fella, with a soft fawn coat and the most amazing ears that stand to attention when he’s listening to you!



~ Personality ~
Tazz is absolutely bursting to meet the world. He truly loves life, and is not shy about smothering you in kisses while his big helicopter tail spins in a blur. He is an active boy who likes to be out investigating and discovering new things, and gets very excited when he realises its walking time.



The slight drawback to all this healthy exuberance is Tazz can become overexcited at times and can be a big bouncy boy. A large part of this excitement was due to him being in kennels. He has very recently moved into foster care and we expect to see a transformation in him very soon. He is finally experiencing calmness and relaxation and is at last getting the attention he has been crying out for. He is not at all an uncontrollable boy; he simply has so much love to give that at the moment it’s coming out in bouncy bursts!



~ In the Home ~
Tazz has recently moved into a foster home and is settling in very well indeed. He is living with 4 female greyhounds and absolutely loves them all. Tazz is now enjoying all the home comforts he deserves, and we will update with his progress very soon.



~ Other Animals ~
Tazz is very good with other greyhounds and adores being around his houndy friends. He enjoys their company and loves to play chase during his offlead sessions.



He does, however, get very excited when he sees other non-greyhound shaped dogs, simply because he has never seen them before now. It’s clear that he does not yet know that dogs can come in small sizes, and he is unsure what to make of small breeds such as terriers. When introduced to small dogs in a calmly and controlled fashion, he settles down and has walked along with them during our kennel walks, but he is definitely still a work in progress in this area. He will need many more exposures to many other dogs before he is completely convinced that they are, in fact, dogs!



~ Out and About ~
Tazz walks well on the lead once the initial excitement has worn off. He will get excited and bouncy if he sees another dog in the distance, which is linked with his need for further socialisation with other dogs. Once he has fully met and accepted the other dog, however, he is very well behaved and walks to heel.



Although Tazz is very lively and active right now, we expect some of this energy to dissipate once he is in a home environment and getting consistent attention and stimulation. Once settled, we don’t expect he should need much more than two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area a couple times a week.

~ Where Can I Live? ~
Because right now he is a bouncy boy who does not quite realise how big he is, it would be best if Tazz went to a home without young children as he may knock them over. This dear boy will also need a hound savvy home with people who know how greyhound minds work so that he can continue to improve his socialisation skills. With the right kind of work and repetition, the beautiful Tazz has oodles of potential and should undergo a transformation once he is out of kennels. If you want an active, extrovert hound who will smother you in love at every opportunity, then Tazz may be for you. We dearly hope that his bouncy nature and need for socialisation doesn’t turn people away from adopting this lad, as he is sure to bring years of entertainment to whomever gives him a sofa space.

Meet the handsome Jake. He is a 5 year old ex-racing greyhound boy who has worked long and hard and is now very deserving of his retirement home. Jake is a tall boy with arguably the longest neck we’ve ever seen, even for a greyhound! He has been well looked after by his previous owner, and is in beautiful health and condition.



~ Personality ~
Jake is a loving, sociable boy who doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He has been handled kindly in the past, so has great manners and adores people, soaking up any fuss like a sponge. He is also a ‘leaner’ and loves to rest against you while you pet him. He is confident in himself and is in general a well-adjusted dog. He seems to have just recently discovered the joys of toys, and is great fun to watch clowning around with his squeaky ball.



~ In the Home ~
Jake has been in a foster home now for about 4 weeks, and is doing well. He has slid into the home life as though he was always there, and is a very easy boy to have around the house. He has gotten the hang of housetraining and is clean through the night, asking to go out when needed. Jake is also very good when left, and we feel he would be suitable as a single dog or for people who work during the day. When left alone he simply snoozes away and is not destructive.

~ Other Animals ~
Dear Jake is very good with other greyhounds, and is brilliant with the greyhounds he is sharing his foster home with right now. He has no qualms sharing his space and is excellently behaved around them.

Other breeds of dog, however, are another story and right now Jake is very interested in chasing them. He would never have seen other breeds of dog during his racing career, and right now he is unsure what to do about them. With lots of socialising and safe interactions, Jake has the potential to vastly improve with this issue, but it will take time for him to realise that dogs actually do come in all shapes and sizes. His fosterer is working on this issue on a daily basis, but this work is likely something that will need to be continued into his forever home, so new owners will need to be aware of it.



~ Out and About ~
Jake walks well on the lead and will trot along to heel happily provided there are no small dogs about. If he sees anything small and moving, however, he can pull and right now his fosterer is working with him to reduce this. Like most greyhounds, Jake does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.



~ Where Can I Live? ~
Because of his current issue with other dogs, Jake would be best in an experienced home with people who understand greyhounds and who have ideally had experience with this issue in the past. He will need regular, patient and repeated dog socialisation in order for him to gradually realise that all dogs are just like greyhounds, and so he will need an owner dedicated to furthering his progress.

Apart from this one and only issue, Jake is the perfect gentleman and an excellent companion. He can be left alone, thus being suitable for people who work during the day, and would slot easily into an existing pack of greyhounds. He has oodles of love to give to the right family who can overlook his dog problems and see what a beautiful, loving companion he can be.

Meet Skyman. He is a 3 year old ex-racing greyhound boy who’s racing career is now over. He is a lean, leggy boy with a very noble face and he is sure to be an absolute stunner once his currently dull coat gets some healthy shine to it.



~ Personality ~
Skyman is new to our rescue so we are still getting to know each other. So far though, he has been a real star and a bit of a ladies man! He loves getting some fuss and attention, and enjoys getting out to see the world too.



~ In the Home ~
Skyman has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience.



~ Other Animals ~
This gorgeous boy has been very good with the other greyhounds in our kennels so far, and enjoys his daily walk with them. He does, however, get very excited when he sees other non-greyhound shaped dogs, simply because he has never seen them before now. It’s clear that he does not yet know that dogs can come in small sizes, and he is unsure what to make of small breeds. He will need many more exposures to many other dogs before he is completely convinced that they are, in fact, dogs! He is not cat friendly.



~ Out and About ~
Like most greyhounds, Skyman doesn’t have high energy levels and so does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week. Right now Skyman gets happy and overexcited when out on his walks, and does pull a bit on the lead when starting out. This should settle fairly quickly once he gets more used to all the attention and when he’s getting more opportunities to let off steam in a home environment. It is being worked on right now with our volunteer dog walkers and he is already showing improvement.

Titch is a small, pretty greyhound girl who wasn’t keen on the racing life. She has a striking brindle coat that is really starting to shine now that she’s in a foster home and getting lots of TLC. She turned 2 years old in March so this dear is still just a puppy with her whole life ahead of her.



~ Personality ~
Little Titch arrived to us a sensitive, nervous little girl, unsure of the world in general. She tended to watch from the sidelines, just a wee bit too afraid to join in. She will need a special, patient owner but is improving daily in her foster home.



Titch has been in her foster home for a few months now, and is becoming a lovely well-adjusted little hound. She is a lovely lady, adores people and likes to be the center of attention. She soaks up any fuss you give her as though it’s her last, and seems to crave physical contact from her foster parents. She will almost fall asleep whilst having head rubs and massages, and is happiest curled up with you while you watch the telly. She still has a bit to learn, but is responsive to training with yummy treats.



It’s important to know that Titch’s world has essentially been turned upside down and she will continue to slowly adjust to these changes over the next few months. She went from a racing kennel with its strict daily routine and minimal contact to living in a family home with amazing comforts and other dogs around her. Different hounds adjust to these changes in different ways, and with Titch this upheaval has resulted in her feeling insecure and anxious at times. This is manifesting as a warning growl at the other dogs in her foster home if she feels her personal space is being invaded or threatened. This growling has not amounted to anything, and is more just a vocalisation of her anxiousness at that current time. She has also had an unsettled tummy which is being attributed to her stress levels. Right now she is being fed a mild diet of cooked chicken and rice with dry Wainwright’s complete mix, and is doing better on this. She has put on some weight and is starting to fill out nicely.



This little girl is also developing a cheeky streak as she continues to settle, and likes to steal shoes and socks to collect in her bed. She doesn’t chew the items she pinches, just likes collecting them for safekeeping! Her most prized possession is her foster Mum’s knitting wool, which she loves to steal again and again just so she can snuggle with it in her bed! Titch is also learning how to play and loves running about with soft toys and a ball. She is an athletic girl with an active mind that has huge potential with the right owner.



~ In the Home ~
Little Titch is now accustomed to all the household sights and sounds and seems unphased by loud noises such as fireworks. Sadly, she is quite fearful of long objects that she thinks could potentially hit her, such as brooms and rolls of Christmas wrapping paper. She will shy away from them and remain wary until the object is out of sight. This nervousness should also diminish as Titch continues to settle and learn that nothing bad will happen to her anymore.

Titch is clean in the house, sleeps through the night and will stand by the back door to let you know she needs to go out. She is also learning some basic commands and is being taught to wait calmly for her supper.



~ Other Animals ~
Right now Titch is still in ‘racing hound’ mode and will chase other small furries, cats and small dogs if they are offlead. Some hounds take a bit longer than others to learn that not every moving thing needs to be chased! Her fosterers are working with her on this and she will continue to improve the more she’s socialised and exposed to other dogs being dogs. When other dogs are on leads and calm, Titch is very well behaved and does not pull to get to them no matter what their size and shape.



~ Out and About ~
In general, Titch is well behaved on the lead and walks to heel with a gentle leader headcollar. Her fosterers have walked her through their local town during busy periods and she is unphased by all the hustle and bustle, adoring anyone who stops to make a fuss of her. She also loves the car and loves to travel with her foster parents.



~ Where Can I Live? ~
Titch’s ideal home as of right now would be one with no young children due to her occasional growls, and no small dogs as she is still unsure as to what they are. She can live with larger dogs provided they are respectful of her space and her current stresses, but will need an owner who understands her current mind-set and needs. Please note that these requirements may likely change in the coming months as Titch continues to lose her anxiety and realise that she is safe in her foster home. This little girl is carrying a lot of weight on her shoulders, and we hope to see that lifted soon. There is still an awful lot of undiscovered potential in this dog, waiting to surface. She is full of surprises and is a very endearing little lady.

Bowie is a 4 year old ex-racing greyhound boy who, after running 15 races, is now finished with the racing life. Bowie has a very handsome boy with a reddish brindle coat that is very soft and silky to the touch.





~ Personality ~
Bowie is a great fella and is eager to please. He likes to get on with everyone and has settled very well into his foster home. His fosterer describes him as a confident boy with a gentle, inquisitive nature. He also really enjoys his head rubs!



~ In the Home ~
Bowie gets on very well with his foster siblings and is calm in the house. He is fully housetrained and will ask if he needs to go outside. He sleeps quietly on his bed all night and never makes a peep when left with other dogs for company. This striking brindle boy picked up the house rules very easily and is responding well to basic training. He is going to make someone a wonderful, easy going companion.



~ Other Animals ~
Bowie had not gotten much experience in meeting other dogs before he came to us, so he is still learning that they come in all shapes and sizes. Right now he is social and calm with other large and medium sized dogs, but can become overexcited upon seeing a smaller dog such as a terrier. It is obvious that he is unsure what to make of the smaller breeds, but this uncertainty will diminish as he gets lots of exposure and repetition. His fosterer is working with him on a daily basis and now he will ignore the dog and continue walking when told. He is not suitable to live with cats.



~ Out and About ~
Bowie walks well on the lead and will only pull on the odd occasion he meets a cat or squirrel. His fosterer has worked with him on this, however, and now he will ignore and continue to walk on when told.

Like most greyhounds, Bowie is a low energy boy and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.

Maura is a 3 year old greyhound girl who didn’t show much interest in racing and so was handed in to KGUK to find her a family home. Maura is a very pretty black girl who’s coat is now beautifully sleek and shiny. It shimmers in the spring sunshine and she is a picture of health. She is quite a big girl at 25” to the shoulder.



~ Personality ~
Maura’s fosterers describe her as a friendly and affectionate young dog, who is very lovable and has a bit of a mischievous streak! Maura is a confident, happy girl who can be quite independent and knows what she wants. At just about 2 years old this girl is in adolescence, just starting to enter adulthood, and it shows in her personality. She still has some puppyish traits but is also starting to assert herself as a confident, self-assured young lady. She will test boundaries to see what she can get away with, and this is normal behaviour for a dog of her age. With consistent guidelines and boundaries, this girl takes heed and will do very well. Maura loves people and will do just about anything for a cuddle.



~ In the Home ~
Maura is well behaved in the home, and gets on good with her foster family. She has learned and responds to basic commands such as ‘no’, ‘out’ and ‘go lay down’, as well as coming to her name and to a whistle. She also understands boundaries and quickly learned that she was not allowed in the kitchen. She is even starting to retrieve on command!



Maura can have the occasional morning accident as she is still on ‘racing kennel time’, thinking the day starts at 6am. This habit is just that, and will fade with time and consistency – she is already sleeping later. Though Maura greatly enjoys human company, she isn’t an overly clingy girl and is quite content to find her own space and spend time alone. She has no problems being left with her greyhound friend when her foster parents are away.



Maura would thrive in an active home with another calm dog to be her role model. She is currently quite impressionable and learned a lot from the greyhound she shares her foster home with. As she can be like a black tornado when she gets excited, she would be best going to a home with older, dog savvy kids who won’t be bowled over by her antics. She can also jump up and sometimes nip when she is very excited, though this is being worked on in her foster home with good success. She would benefit from some dog training and socialisation classes to continue the work her fosterer’s have done on building her manners, as well as regular long walks to burn off all that energy.



~ Other Animals ~
Maura gets on well with most dogs, though can be a bit intimidated by overly aggressive, bouncy or, for some reason, big black dogs. This insecurity disappears once she knows the dog, and we think that with some repetition and positive socialisation, Maura will get over this small hump. She has bonded well with the greyhound in her foster home, and learned a lot from him when she first came to the home. Once comfortable, Maura is very playful and loves to play chase with other dogs of all sizes. She also loves her toys and simply adores anything that squeaks! She is not cat friendly.



~ Out and About ~
Maura is a good girl when out, and really does live for her walks. The longer the better for this girl! Her recall is a work in progress, but she does respond to her name. As already mentioned, Maura can become a bit agitated and nervy when meeting barking or aggressive dogs on her walks. She also can become quite frightened of large black dogs, though this is something that will fade with time and repetition. She also has the habit of liking to be ‘the leader’ of the walk, and if allowed to do so would pull on the lead. If she is kept to heel, however, she settles down and trots contentedly beside you. This is another example of Maura testing her boundaries, and if her owner keeps firm and consistent, she will settle down beautifully into that model hound. Apart from that, Maura is a star when out and absolutely loves meeting new friends.



Maura’s fosterer says she is one of the nicest dogs she has had the pleasure to meet, and dearly hopes Maura finds a family for her. With a bit of work on teaching her manners and limitations, this girl has the potential to be a fantastic family member – there is very little holding her back.

Maura is currently in foster care in Bacton, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet and collect her.

It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK.

Zena is a very pretty GSD X Collie. She is approximately 7 months old and is not enjoying life in kennels. Zena is highly sociable and is looking for her forever home. Staff say she is an incredibly fast learner and would suit an active or possibly working home. Zena is progressing well with her training and knows sit, down, paw commands. She is responding well to recall and will need to continue with her training. Zene has now had all of her vaccinations and is now spayed.

Lilly is a 4 year old neutered cross breed who is very bouncy and loving. She especially loves cats and has lived with 2. With her previous owner Lilly was not keen on other dogs but she has travelled in the van with 2 with no problem and is sharing a kennel with Wrinkley Annie the Shar Pei, so while she may not like ALL dogs she certainly has been fine with the ones she has met up till now with us. She is untested with children but does not come across as anything other than happy to see people. She loves to play with her ball and is not possessive with it or her food. She walks on a lead but pulls at first, this subsides as the walk progresses she does now and then have an urge to chase the odd car but would rather focus on her ball .

She is being rehomed due to her previous owner having to work longer hours and she has got bored and started getting destructive - this could be over come with crate training for short periods of time but she would rather be with someone who can give her all their time she will need plenty walks and mental stimulation

She could live with another dog (in fact it may make her more confident) but as far as she is concerned cats are there to chase.

Please meet Tyson, a Cross Breed, male, approximately 1-2 years old. He is black with a bit of white on his chest, he has a smooth shiny coat and he is large in size.

Tyson is very friendly, quite bouncy and playful. He knows some basic commands, he is good with children and he seems fine with other dogs; he's a stunning boy!

Tyson is also a good traveller and walks well on the lead.

He is absolutely gorgeous and would love to have his own home with lots of chances to walk and play!

This is Rhonda she has just arrived with us. She was brilliant in the car and was quite laid back about meeting other dogs, especially when we were all crowded together under tent/gazebo when it rained. She was quite happy to meet small children too! She really doesn't like the rain though, we can't say we blame her.

We think she is about 2-3 years old, is a little underweight at the moment and has probably had puppies. Last night she had a little play with Alice, her foster sister, and I think she will come out of her shell in the next couple of days. She loves to curl up close to you on the sofa and makes contented little grumbling sounds when she is snoozing.

Please meet Bertie, a Staffie Cross, male, approximately 12 months old. He is brindle with a bit of white on his chest and he is small to medium in size.

Bertie is very friendly and quite bouncy - he loves to play ball. He also likes to sit on your lap and be tickled! He also appears to be good with children too - espcially if they play ball!

He is a lovely fun boy who can't wait to be in a home of his own where he can play ball and go for lots of walks then share lots of cuddles.

He does need to be the only dog in his new home.

Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue

Handsome Harvest (nicknamed Harvey) originally came to us having been found at the side of the road with a very badly broken back leg. Sadly our vet could not save it and had to amputate. Gentle Harvey won the hearts of staff at the vets and all at EGLR, he was a star patient and recovered well.
Unfortunately Harvey's life since then has not been what we would have hoped for him. He got a very nasty urine infection which took time to respond to antibiotics and his new home did not work out so he came back to us. All this upset left him very stressed out and bewildered as to what was expected of him. Happily Harvey is completely well now and has settled back into his foster home quickly. He is one of the most gentle, loving dogs we have ever met, he just loves to be loved! We cannot pass his bed without him putting his paw out for a stroke! He gets on well with the resident dogs and is very polite to the cat!
Harvey is a dog that thrives on knowing his place in the 'family pack' and for this reason we would like to find him a home with another dog or dogs and understanding new owners that would help him to learn the 'boundaries' in his new life. Harvey is neutered and fully vaccinated and has been recently wormed. He is good on the lead but most of all he loves to run free with the other dogs - you would never know he only has 3 legs, he can run like the wind!
Harvey is a really exceptional dog with a wonderful nature. Life has not been very good to him so far and he deserves better; so if you think he might be for you then please give Pip or Linda a call.

Meet Alby. A gorgeous 8 month old Shih Tzu who was found as a stray in a terrible state. He had a very matted coat, infected rashes and so clearly had not has the TLC he deserves.
As you can see he has now had a visit to the groomer as well as the vets and is healing up well.



Alby is a lovely boy that needs a home that understands that it is unlikely he has previously been shown how to behave in many home and outdoor situations. Alby needs a home that is willing to commit time and patience to giving him the training he needs to blossom into a wonderful companion.

Alby is a very sweet boy who is on foster in Colchester, Essex with another dog and a confident cat.

Initially Alby barked at the resident dog but he has now calmed down. He is toy and food protective, both with dogs and people and so his fosterers are working with him on the “leave it” command, which is coming on very well. With this in mind we would not recommend him to a home with young children.

Alby did try and chase the cat at first but he was soon put in his place and now he leaves the cat alone. Alby can live with confident cats only so please do not apply for Alby if your cat isn’t a confident cat that will put Alby in his place as he will chase cats in the home and outside if allowed.

He recently went on a visit to the home of a relative of his fosterer's where he had a great time playing with her dogs and trotting around after the chickens until he got bored!


Alby is very good at walking on a harness and lead and will walk to heel. On a long line he will come when called but he has not yet been let off lead.
On walks he does bark and lunge at other dogs but this is improving with further socialisation.

He needs extensive toilet training. He has two walks a day and is regularly taken into the garden. He is making good improvements but house training is still a work in progress.

Alby is a lovely happy boy who is very affectionate. He loves his cuddles and to lay on your lap to be brushed all over. He is happy to cuddle up in the evening if he has had his walks and food. During the night he likes to sleep on the floor next to the bed but every now and then, he jumps on the bed for a snuggle making little squeaky noises as if he needs reassuring that people are still there.

Alby’s new home will be an active home with older children if any. He needs new owners that will be around the majority of the time and be happy to work with him to overcome the issues he has. We wish we could have known the history that gave him these issues, but unfortunately we can only guess.

If given the time, patience and consistency, we know this beautiful boy will overcome these problems and blossom into a truly wonderful pet.

This is Whitey she lost her eye with her previous owner when she was a young pup, she has lived a sheltered life with 5 of her brothers and sisters and her mum and dad. Unfortunately due to personal circumstances all the dogs bar Whitey's one sister have come into rescues and been rehomed, Whitey is the last of them to need a new home.
Whitey can be quite nervous of the outside world and quite worried, but once she has bonded with you she loves you whole heartidly. Because she only has the sight of one eye she can be nervous of noises and things going on suddenly and doesn't see from a certain angle
Whitey needs lead training and understanding that a lead means a walk and that is a fun thing not a bad thing, this is taking time. Unfortunately within 3 days of arriving in the rescue she came into season, so has been under house arrest for the last 3 weeks as she has proved herself to be a bit of a tart. I cannot comprehend why anybody would chose, as a preference to allow their dogs to go through this, it hasn't been pleasant and not something I would recommend.
She is a real sweetie pie and greets me like a long lost friend whenever I come back into the room, she likes the other dogs but has only just started interacting with them; she was quite frightened on the initial meeting and greeting.
She has got to have a fully enclosed garden as, when I first had her I couldn't trust her not to try and jump the fencing
She loves her food and her settee and is going to make a wonderful lovely sweet dog but it will have to be the right home. She will not be suitable with children under 10 purely due to her worry and nerves.

Monte & Carlo came to us at the end of February after being handed in as strays in the Southampton area. They are a lovely pair of dogs & really seem to love each others company. This leaves us in the difficult situation of upsetting them both by trying to find them individual homes or holding tight & waiting for that extra special someone that can make room in their heart & their home for these extra special pets.
We assume the boys to be brothers of about 2-3 years of age. We would describe them as borzoi, collie, lurcher mixes. Both dogs are very playful & still fairly puppyish in their behaviour. Both dogs can be playful with other dogs but sadly could not live in a home where there were cats. With the right amount of exercise & TLC having time alone at home should not cause them too much of a problem. Monte & Carlo are fully vaccinated, micro chipped & castrated. Monte is a healthy 29kgs; sadly Carlo is a little more stressed about kennel life & struggles to keep his weight on so is nearer 23kgs.

Hello my name is Lily. Lily came from EGLR 8 and half years ago. She is unfortunately looking for a new home because of an unforeseen change in circumstances. Lilly is approaching her 9th birthday, but she thinks she's still a puppy. She has endless energy when out for her walk and can still do a good impression of a speeding bullet! Lily is absolutely wonderful on the lead, and is good off the lead, her recall is usually good but in true Saluki fashion, can have selective hearing when it suits. She loves to say hello to everyone she meets and as a result very quickly becomes know to all that use the park. (especially the ones that carry treats!). In short Lily is a complete character and you can't help but love her.
This wonderful girl is neutered and stands 23" to the shoulder and is up to date with Vaccinations kennel cough and worming. She loves people and other dogs, gets on with children but can jump up when excited so it is worth watching with smaller children. Another saluki trait is her tendency to "talk' to you if your not as fast as she thinks you should be. Lily can be left for long periods, travels well in the car and is not destructive. Lily loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa or in front of the fire. Lily has lived with a collie hound cross called Jack for the last 8 and half years who is also on the website. They would be very happy to stay together, but this is not essential.

This is Jack. He is unfortunately looking for a new home because of an unforeseen change in circumstances. Jack came from Birmingham dogs home 11 and half years ago, at the time they thought he was 12 to 18 months old. He is the best friend anyone could wish to have.
This lovely gentleman is castrated and stands 25" to the shoulder and is up to date with Vaccinations, kennel cough and worming.
He loves to be with people, and gets on well with children of all ages, all other dogs, cats and other animals. His chasing days are over, but given the chance he will still trot after the ball for as long as you are willing to throw it. These days he loves nothing more than a gentle walk to catch up on local news by sniffing just about everything that can be sniffed. He likes his food followed by a nice long nap. Basically, he is a typical old bloke. He knows all is basic commands and takes great pride in doing what as been asked of him, you may have to shout a bit as the old hearing isn't what it once was.
Jack is good in the car, however it is best not to be fed beforehand, as he can be sick if it's a windy road! He can be left without any problems and isn't destructive in any way.
As he is getting on a bit, Jack is on medication. (Carofen & Nutradyl) for his back legs. Apart from that he is a healthy happy boy, and is a wonderful companion. Jack has lived with a whippet saluki cross called Lily for the last 8 and half years who is also on the website. They would be very happy to stay together, but this is not essential.

Avril is a pretty, young, Whippet X who has a sweet, gentle nature and loves to have a cuddle on the sofa. She gets on well with other dogs and enjoys a run around in the garden with the house dogs. Her appetite is good and she is putting on some weight now. She travels well in the car, and seems to be picking up the basic commands quite quickly.

She does get very excited over hares and rabbits so I don't think she would be suited to a home with a resident cat. She doesn't like to be left alone too long at the moment, but with time will get used it.

Avril is approximately, 23" to the shoulder and we think she may be just under 1 year old.

Brandy is currently with her owner who tells us -



This is Brandy. She is 5 year old Bull Mastiff Cross. She is a very quiet dog and rarely barks. She has had an operation on her right leg due to Arthritis, which is now fully recovered. She has Arthritis in the other leg which means she can only be walked on the lead, when other dogs are present, to avoid any rough & tumbling that might cause further damage.

When she is on the lead, she sometimes gets anxious at other dogs that approach her who are running freely in the park.

Brandy has been vaccinated and spade. She has lived with two cats and is used to teenagers and adults. She has not been around small children, so I would not like her to be re-homed to a family with children as she can be very nervous at times.

She loves to sleep and I believe she needs a quiet home to retire to, with short walks and lots of love

Meet Scooby! An incredibly sweet and loving 7 year old Labrador cross looking for a home.



Scooby is a very loving boy who loves nothing better than a good cuddle on the sofa! He is good as gold in the house and garden and doesn’t bark at all. He also ignores the cats and small furries in his foster home so would be happy to live with any small furry animals in his forever home.

He is brilliant with the two children in his foster home and loves to run around and play with them but when one of the children was ill recently, Scooby was equally happy to just snuggle up with him.

Scooby gets on well with the dog in his foster home and would be happy to live with female dogs. When he is out on walks, he gets very excited when seeing other dogs and doesn't seem to know his manners so is quite reactive with a loud bark. A behaviourist is currently working together with his fosterer to help socialise Scooby more to improve on this and all training plans will be passed on to his new owner. Scooby can be quite strong on the lead so will require an owner able to hold him and willing to put the time into continuing his training on the lead.
Scooby’s recall is brilliant except for when he has his head in a bin!



Scooby adores his food and is very food motivated which is helping with his training but in the house he will steal from the bin, people and sideboards so it may be helpful to keep him out of the kitchen and spend some time training him that if he waits for food instead of stealing it, he will get something even tastier!

Scooby is a wonderful boy who just wants to be loved and cherished forever. He is looking for a home where someone is around most of the day as he loves human company and where time and patience will be put into continuing his training on the lead. A home with Labrador experience would be perfect for Scooby. If you think you can offer Scooby a home he will forever repay you with love, fun and devotion and you will have a best friend for life.

Handsome Harvest (nicknamed Harvey) originally came to us having been found at the side of the road with a very badly broken back leg. Sadly our vet could not save it and had to amputate. Gentle Harvey won the hearts of staff at the vets and all at EGLR, he was a star patient and recovered well.
Unfortunately Harvey's life since then has not been what we would have hoped for him. He got a very nasty urine infection which took time to respond to antibiotics and his new home did not work out so he came back to us. All this upset left him very stressed out and bewildered as to what was expected of him. Happily Harvey is completely well now and has settled back into his foster home quickly. He is one of the most gentle, loving dogs we have ever met, he just loves to be loved! We cannot pass his bed without him putting his paw out for a stroke! He gets on well with the resident dogs and is very polite to the cat!

Harvey is a dog that thrives on knowing his place in the 'family pack' and for this reason we would like to find him a home with another dog or dogs and understanding new owners that would help him to learn the 'boundaries' in his new life. Harvey is neutered and fully vaccinated and has been recently wormed. He is good on the lead but most of all he loves to run free with the other dogs - you would never know he only has 3 legs, he can run like the wind!

Harvey is a really exceptional dog with a wonderful nature. Life has not been very good to him so far and he deserves better; so if you think he might be for you then please give Pip or Linda a call.

Meet Cody! A handsome 3 year old Bichon Frise looking for a loving home where he can get the attention and exercise that he needs.

Cody came into us from a home situation where the owners felt they could no longer care for him. He is a very sweet boy who loves to snuggle up with you on the sofa and have a good cuddle!



He is a bit "naked" at the moment but his fur is growing back well and will require regular grooming. Cody was very good at the groomers although did have a little grumble at the end when his nails were clipped.

Cody would love to go to training classes and/or an activity to help to continue to develop his basic training and improve his concentration. Cody is still learning his manners around other dogs but with continued training in his forever home he would be happy to live with other dogs. He wouldn’t like to live with children.

The lovely kennel dog walkers say that he is easy to walk and a pleasure to be with. He is very sweet and loves to play – he’ll make a wonderful companion.

Cody is currently in kennels in South Wales whilst waiting for a foster or, even better, a forever home. Can you offer him either?

Murphy is a lovely 5yr old boxer x who has come to NRBR because of a marriage split. He is such a happy boy been brought up with children and is deog friendly. He has a lovely nature and will fit into any family home.

PRINGLE

Pringle is a young, male Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross. He is very friendly, housetrained and good with dogs that are sociable. He has been vaccinated and neutered and is provisionally reserved. Pringle is currently in a foster home and has settled in nicely.

MISSY


This girl came into pound with a huge prolapse. She had emergency surgery and has now fully recovered from her ordeal. Missy is in foster home and is a brilliant family dog. Good with kids, Missy is now looking for her forever home.

Reason for rehoming: This Husky was saved by Poodles In Need when this young puppy of 9 months old would have been euthanised simply because no one was willing to fund his treatment to fix his broken leg.

He has recovered very well from his operation and is now castrated. A typical fun loving Husky full of life who wants to greet everybody and everything with excitement and play.

This dog deserves a home with someone that understands his needs as a Husky. Husky's are very active dogs and love to be involved in their owners lives. Happy living with other dogs but true to his nature he will chase cats and small furries.

Reason for rehoming: This little chap has been through the wars but is now fit and strong and ready for his new home. He came to TLDR from the pound and was very poorly for a while but with expert care and lots of TLC from his fosterer he was soon back to his normal self.

Red is a very biddable little dog who seems to get on with just about everyone and everything. He's good with the many other dogs in his foster home and although he did chase the cats at first has settled with them now. He isn't really interested in other dogs when out and tends to just walk past them. Similarly, Red is somewhat disinterested in meeting new people when out but was good when meeting visitors to his foster home.

He is very good on-lead and his recall equals that. Red travels well in the car and has no problem with being left at home for short periods - he likes sitting in the window to watch the world go by. Red has not been child-tested whilst in foster care. He has no issues regarding food, treats or toys and likes to share and to play with toys. Red loves his food and his cuddles. Grooming Red is no problem either. His only vice appears to be that he hates the vets and would need to be muzzled before he is taken to one.

His fosterer says that she "would take him anywhere and trust him" and that "he is very laid back for a terrier."

Can you give this lovely boy the stable, forever home he so needs and deserves?

Red has, of course, been neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, wormed and flea-treated and has no known on-going medical needs.

Other: Louby Lou was rescued from the pound on her last day where she was due for PTS simply because she was deaf. She is a wonderful charachter who is calm and gentle, she is housetrained and is responding well to training with hand signals.

Louby Lou is fantastic with all other dogs of any age and size, she is great with cats and pretty much ignores small animals. She has not been assessed with small children but is such a sweet nature a home with sensible dog savvy children will certainly be considered.

Louby Lou would be best living with another dog and advice and support will be given regarding her ongoing training.

BUDDY











Please meet Buddy, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, male, approximately 3-4 years old. He is brindle with white on his chest and he is small to medium in size.

Buddy is very friendly and quite bouncy. He really is a gorgeous softy who loves a cuddle and ear rub. Buddy seems to like his food but is also gentle when taking a treat. He is good in his kennel and moves his bedding to the front in the morning to watch the world go by!

He loves children and is very good with them - an excellent example of a 'nanny dog'!

Buddy is also a good traveller and walks well on the lead.

We think he needs to be the only dog in his new home.

Emrys is a very handsome 3 month old Border Collie boy looking for a loving, active home. He was handed in with his brother from a farm.

Emrys is a happy young boy who is good with other dogs and children but has not yet been cat tested. He is looking for a home that is able to provide him with the training, exercise and stimulation to allow him to blossom.



He is currently on foster in Cheshire and here's what they have to say about him; "Emrys is a hilarious puppy to foster, he bounces around like a deer when playing, and loves running in our fields. He is a typical collie pup, very focused on balls and always on the go so will need an experienced collie home or someone that is prepared to give him the mental stimulation he needs.

He is quickly learning that when he's excited and wanting to play barking doesn't always work! He is a vocal puppy sometimes but is quick to learn that some dogs and people prefer a quiet welcome!!

He is going to be a very sleek, fast collie when older judging by how he runs now, so may suit someone looking for agility, flyball etc as he is a very happy dog when he has his ball!
As he's still a baby he needs some basic training which we as working on, but anyone looking for a collie will be very lucky with him as he will make a wonderful pet.

He is good with all my dogs, and sleeps well at night plus his house training is coming along well."

This is lovely Tai, he is an entire 5 year old boy. He is microchipped, but his vaccinations are due again soon. He will need to be castrated as part of his adoption agreement. Tai has never lived with another dog, and can be a bit full on when meeting them for the first time, but not aggressive. He is ok when travelling, but occasionally will be car sick depending on the length of the journey. When meeting people for the first time our assessor found him to be quite nervous, but after 5 minutes and several teats later he was looking for interaction from them. Tai is rarely walked and as a consequence very strong on the lead, but with a head collar and some correction, our assessor felt this could be easily resolved. He did pass a small dog whilst out walking and was fine, and he also ignored a cat, but we were told he would chase cats given the opportunity. He is used to children aged 6 and over, but because of his initial nerves with strangers we wouldn't place him into a home with young children. Tai isn't used to being left for long hours, so ideally his new owners need to be around for most of the day, and a home where they will put in some time with his basic training and exercise needs. This lovely boy is currently in the Melton Mowbray area.

Meet Djago.....This lovely young man was handed into the pound so we no nothing of his history. He is we think around 12 mths of, he is entire so he will need to be castrated as part of the adoption agreement, and he will need vaccinating. Djago is currently in a foster home with 12 dogs and this what his foster carer had to say about this lovely boy. He is very social and well mannered with all dogs large and small...He appears to be fine with horses. Cats are unknown . He has a love for playing fetch and will play all day. He is a very high drive dog who would benefit from a working type home - obedience, working trials etc. He is definately not a couch potato. Can be a typical vocal shepherd. Needs a knowledgeable home - a little prone to separation anxiety which can be worked with. He arrived to us very underweight and this is still a working project, but he has very funny eating habits. We are looking for an active home for Djago without children because of his unknown history. If you have the time to give this boy what he needs he won't let you down. Currently in the Oxfordshire area.

This very handsome young man is Charlie. He's a long sable male aged 18mths. He has been neutered and his vaccinations are up to date. Charlie is a very friendly boy, but because he's not getting enough exercise he is very excited in the home. He will jump up to greet visitors and will mouth occasionally. He is walked on a halti without any problems. He has lived with a smaller dog in the past but was a bit overpowering. He will need someone to work on his basic commands, and because he is never let off the lead he has very little recall. He was attacked by dogs as a pup so this makes him wary of other dogs, but we think after careful introductions he would be ok. He will chase cats and rabbits anything that runs really. He's great with children, but too bouncy for very young ones. In the right home where someone has more time for him, and willing to put in some simple training Charlie is a super family boy. He doesn't travel in the car very often and will get car sick. This lovely boy is currently in the Kent area.

Bear is a 12 week old GSD puppy that was "found as a stray" and handed in to a police station. Rather than going to the pound for 7 days he served 28 days in a foster home. He was full of worms which has now been treated. He is now ready to move on to a new forever home.

He is your typical 12 week old pup! He chews, mouths, nips and has the occasional toilet accident although very good now.

He loves to play with toys and other dogs and is currently being fostered with a JRT who he is now bigger than and likes to jump all over.

Any new home will be expected to go to socialisation/training classes and have Bear neutered at an agreed time. Both of which we will require proof for.

Bear has already be dumped by an owner and he deserves to be in one excellent home for the rest of his life with people that will bother with him and make him an important part of the family.

Maisy is an incredibly cute 8 week old Cross breed. This sweet girl came in with her two siblings from a home situation where the family could no longer provide them with proper care. They are 1/4 Border Collie and 3/4 Staffordshire Bull Terrier and absolutely gorgeous!

Maisy needs a loving home that is prepared to commit to her for her whole life. She needs to live where there is someone around most the day.

Maisy has a wonderful character and will do well in a home that keeps up her socialisation and takes her to puppy training classes when she is old enough. Maisy can live with children, dogs and cats.

Temperament: If you like unusual looking dogs, then look no further - Izzy is here. Her given name (Gizmelda) is a bit of a mouthful so her fosterer calls her, and she responds to, the name of Izzy. She is, most definitely, a people dog - she loves everyone and is bright, affectionate and obedient. She would probably be best homed as an only dog or with a very well-balanced resident dog.

Izzy is not quite so brilliant with other dogs as with people. She can be a tad pushy and dominant even with dogs who offer no threat to her. She has settled well now with her fosterer's 2 dogs but meeting dogs when out, or visiting the home, needs to be managed carefully. Her fosterer believes this to be due to a basic insecurity and that it will improve once Izzy feels secure in a stable, forever home.

She is no problem to groom and settles quietly when in the car. She has been crated when left at home alone a few times and appears to be fine. Her lead-walking needs a little more work as she has a tendency to pull but her recall is good. Izzy is good at feeding times and enjoys her food. She will snatch at treats but this has improved immensely.

Izzy has not been child-tested and she cannot be homed with cats/small furries as she will chase. She loves meeting new people and is friendly and affectionate but may attempt to jump up.

Izzy is a friendly girl and she is bright and easy to train. Her fosterer says Izzy is "very easy to live with. She doesn't chew or run off. She loves company and will roll over for tummy tickles, but she doesn't pester. She's a lovely dog who deserves someone who will appreciate her intelligence, loyalty and affection, and offer her the stable home that has so far eluded her through no fault of her own."

Can you give Izzy all the love, TLC and security that she so deserves?

Izzy will, of course, be vaccinated, micro-chipped, wormed and flea-treated before she is adopted. However, she cannot be spayed until 3 months after her next season. Her new family will have to sign an agreement to agree to get her spayed at the earliest medically approved opportunity, and provide proof that this has, indeed, been performed. She has no known on-going medical needs. Izzy is just 15" high.

Temperament: Alvin is a lovely, young boy and will make some lucky family very happy. He is a fun, happy dog and loves to run ....... and run and run. He will need a good 1-2 hours walking/running per day so needs a family who also love being out and about in all weathers. It is definitely Alvin's reason for living. He would also love some canine company in his new home, especially one who loves to play/run as much as he does.

Alvin is good with dogs both in the home and when out on walks. He is very playful and his tail rarely stops wagging when he meets dogs out. However, he does have a tendency to jump up. He cannot live with cats or other small furries. Unfortunately, he chases the resident cat at his foster home and spends a large part of his day trying to dig under the rabbit hutch to get to the rabbit.

He is excellent with the 2 children in his foster home, aged 7 and 10, and is very gentle with them. Alvin has also been very good when meeting new people.

Alvin tends to sleep when travelling in the car. He can also be left at home for short periods uncrated. However, this was in the company of other dogs and with a Kong. He has no issues regarding food, treats or toys. He takes treats very gently and likes tuggy toys. He is also good when being groomed.

He pulls initially when on-lead but soon settles and his recall is brilliant ...... unless he sees a cat. He will bark at a cat until you can gain his attention. Alvin sleeps in a crate at night and is as good as gold, and he is house-trained.

Alvin is a special boy who needs a home which will guide and nurture him. In return, they will have the love and loyalty of this boy for life.

Can you give Alvin all the fun, love and exercise he needs?

Alvin has, of course, been neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, wormed and flea-treated and has no known on-going medical needs.

BUSTER is a SBT Cross and is aged around 2 years old - he is not good with other dogs and so will require a home as an only dog. He is extremely loving and friendly and is looking for his forever sofa. He is good with current fosters 13 year old child, but we do not recommend any younger children as he is quite bouncy.

Buster has been in foster with a trainer who specialises in agressive dogs or dogs with issues. Buster has made alot of progress and will tollerate other dogs but he will be much happier in a dog free home.

Toby is looking for his forever home without any other dogs - he has been interacting with other dogs but he does have an history of showing agression to other dogs. He is a polite, playful and well behaved boy.
He is really great with people and has travelled well by car! Toby has quite a bit of training behind him and walks well on the leash and responds to all basic commands.

Toby has been in foster now for over a month with a trainer who specialises in aggressive or dogs with issues. Toby has made a lot of progress.

Other: Pippa is looking for a new home as her present owners have just had a newborn baby and sadly cannot give her the attention and exercise that she requires to keep her happy. She is spayed, vaccinated and Micro chipped and stands 22" to the shoulder.

Pippa is a people dog and loves to be the your friend. She adores her walks, food and the sofa and her own way. She also loves her muzzle being massaged and scratched along the length of her spine, in particular her hind quarters. Pippa takes great pleasure in chasing her squeaky egg toy and chewing the same to make it squeak. She dislikes being disturbed whilst asleep in her bed unless food is involved.

She will need a little work on the lead and with her recall, she can also become nervous and temperamental with other dogs when she is being walked so her new owner will need to help her with this.

Meet Eddie. A stunning 2 year old American Bulldog cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is looking for a loving, understanding home that has experience with Bull breeds. Eddie is great with older children and other dogs. Eddie has been waiting for the right home for a long time and has come along such an incredible way in this time; please take the time to read his story.



Eddie was originally taken from a veterinary practice a year and a half ago where he was due to be put to sleep due to aggression issues. A kind soul saw past his problems and took him in. It became immediately obvious from his behaviour that poor Eddie has previously beaten, starved, dehydrated and confined for long periods of time. On top of this Eddie was testosterone filled and displayed both fear and anxiety aggression and had severe trust issues with men. Note that I am using past tense!
Everything changed for Eddie the day he was castrated. He went in to the vets a frustrated boy who hated the world and came out later that day as a completely different dog. Many people have called him a “poster boy” for neutering due to the drastic behavioural change the castration caused. Upon a post operation check, the veterinarian described Eddie as “a lovely dog – he’s just a bit nuts!”

Eddie has been in a foster home in Redditch since the castration and has blossomed beautifully into a much calmer, sweet and sociable boy thanks to a steady routine, a firm but affectionate hand and consistent discipline using positive reinforcement.

Eddie has learnt that food and water is no longer in scarce supply. He originally would guard his food bowl and drink huge amounts of water at a time but these issues have now been resolved. He does prefer to eat in his crate because it helps him feel more secure but he does not guard it and now drinks only when he needs to.

He is an active boy and will need a home where he gets good regular walks. His fosterer says he likes to have an occasional “Springer” moment where he has a mad half an hour running around but he is quite chilled out most of the time.
Eddie loves playing, especially football with the other dogs in his home but he does like to play rough so other dogs in his forever home will need to be his size, larger or quite chunky. He gets on well with other dogs and would really love to live with at least one other dog. He has never shown any aggression to any other dog and will back off if a dog tells him off.



Eddie is great with people and has not shown any signs of aggression towards people or children since his castration however we will only re home him with older children. Eddie is especially affectionate with females (his fosterer says he is a bit of a tart!) but does seem to respond better to a deeper voice and has improved drastically in his behaviour around men. Eddie would love a home where he gets interaction with both male and female adults.

This sweet boy has really come out of his shell since being in foster care and has consistently shown himself to be sociable and loveable. He will let you know if he really likes you by being a bit clingy and leaning on you! He likes to have a fuss from his foster mum then lie on her feet to keep them warm!

He really is a lovely lad who makes everyone smile with the great variety of expressions he can display using his ears!

Eddie is crate trained and can be left alone for up to four hours providing he is given a good walk first and kept in his crate with a nice chew or something interesting.
He is house trained but has had problems with defecating in the house over night. This has improved with altering his feeding times.



Eddie needs time, patience, understanding and lots of love! His ideal home will have experience with bull breeds and at least one other chunky dog in the home that likes to play. Ideally he will get interaction with male and female adults but he is also happy to live with older children. He needs to have an active home and one that is prepared to commit to him and care for him for the rest of his life.

Eddie has come along such an incredible way and we know that the right home for him is out there, can you offer him that home?

Pixie is a special girl who had a sad and difficult life before she came into the care of EGLR but in the time she has been with us we have watched her grow in both character and confidence, she still has times when her old life re-surfaces and she gets all worried and nervous but with some gentle reassurance she soon realises she is safe with us.

Pixie has a very fun and bouncy nature, she loves to play with soft toys and enjoys a game of chase in the garden with her other doggy friends.

As Pixie can be a worried little girl we feel that it is best that she is homed with older children that will understand the times when she may get scared and we also feel she would benefit from a resident dog or 2 that will continue to help give her confidence and show her the way when things make her nervous.

Pixie is a bright girl and eager to please, she picks things up very easily and she loves her food which helps when we are teaching her new things

She has learnt to walk quite well on a lead and she doesn't seem bothered by the traffic when out on walks. Pixie is more than happy to walk all day if you want as she is not allowed to go of the lead in-case some thing spooks her but that doesn't seem to bother her as she has a long lead so she can get lots of good sniffs in. After her walks Pixie likes nothing better than to curl up on a soft bed and sleep the rest of the day away if you need to go out to work for a few hours.
When you return home Pixie will greet you with such joy and happiness that not only makes her tail wag but the whole bottom part of her body.

Recently EGLR supporter Karen and her husband Dave popped in to see Tinger, this is what they had to to say about her along with a couple of pictures of their visit:- 'It was lovely meeting Tinger today.She's quite small and dainty and is such a sweetie. She loves people and is a really cwtchy dog. I took her for a short walk and she was good on the lead, pulling slightly at times, but just due to excitement. She's very excitable and I'm sure she'd love to run to remove the springs in her legs )). Tinga is acting very puppyish. She appears to resopnd really well to reasurement and enjoyed being brushed for a some time today. As you can see in the photos of her with Dave, she loves to be close to people. I don't know how old she is but what little I could see of her teeth they looked quite white and she hardly has any grey hair on her. She's going to be a loyal and loving companion to someone or a family. I know that when she returned to the kennels she was fearful and showing this through a little agression, but I saw none of this today. Dave has worked wonders with her and she clearly adores him. She is easy to bond with as she just wants to please and be loved. I really hope she finds her forever home really soon. God only knows she deserves it!'

Tom is a nervous boy who needs time to get to know people and is a little hand shy, he is currently living with a female lurcher who he gets on well with but he isn't very interested in playing with so he may be better suited with a calmer doggy companion. Tom is quite small for a male greyhound only about 24 inches and is quite pettie in frame.


Our lovely boy Tom is still waiting for a home to call his own, being a black male greyhound we know this may take a while. We are not sure why but these are always so difficult to re-home, we think there is nothing better than a shinny black coat shimmering in the sun, Pip wishes her hair colour was like this instead of grey streaks that run through!

Tom is getting on really well in his foster home he has been attending agility classes every week not to take part but we are using this opportunity to help socialise him with other dogs and people, he is quickly learning that humans are not so scary especially when they have a lovely bit of liver sausage.

Once Tom gets to know you he is a loving and loyal dog that will ask for very little he just needs a stable home with someone that will give him the time and patience he needs to continue to grow into a wonderful dog that we already know he is.

He takes treats gently from your hand, and walks well on the lead and has lots of energy he loves to run around his foster homes big orchard but will come whenever he is called.

He does love to chase the birds and rabbits that he comes across thankfully he hasn't caught anything yet.

He gets on brilliantly with other dogs and regularly has play dates with other lurchers greyhounds and staffies.

He will bark at anyone knocking at the door but only when he hears it. He can be left for 5-6 hours without any problems and sleeps quietly through the night.

He does have a bad habit of barking when he is in the car but we are working on this, however he is not car sick and has happily travelled for 150 miles without any complaint.

He is just starting to play with a rope toy which he is a bit protective of it when he first picks it up however he does play tug of war when he has shook it for a bit.

He doesn't have any regular routine of walks but seems happy to be with his foster dad if he is out working in once place, and doesn't wonder of if he is working outside

Meet Reg a 3 year old neutered male. His vaccinations are over due, but he is microchipped. Reg is quite tubby for his age and could with losing a few pounds! When our assessor first entered the home Reg ran at them barking and it became clear he is very protective over his owners. He isn't walked very often because his owners said he does go for other dogs whilst outside the home and they aren't confident enough to deal with this. He was happy to go for a walk with a our assessor. He was walked on a headcollar, he did encounter other dogs, but he just growled.. He lives with 3 other dogs and has always been fine. Reg travels well in the car. He isn't used to being left, and has never lived with cats or children, For this reason we would only place him into a home with teenage children and above. He is clean in the house, and has very good basic basic commands. Because of his protective nature, we would only place him with experienced GSD owners. Reg is in the Kent area.

This fabulous young lady is 3 year old Sasha. This gorgeous girl is Vaccinated but not micro-chipped. She will need spaying as part of the adoption process. Sasha is very good with adults and children of all ages. She has never lived with cats and does chase chickens and wildlife so we would only consider a small furry animal free home. She currently is living with a Springer Spaniel and gets on fine with her. Sasha is strong on the lead but with corrective commands did respond well to our assessor. She will lunge at other dogs when on the lead but when corrected by our assessor she responded well and fell back in line. Her basics are good, however she will need some recall work as she tends to wander around amusing herself when off lead. We feel that she would benefit from a calm but assertive new owner who has the time and knowledge to teach her boundaries. Sasha is currently in North Lincolnshire.

I have over 30 Staff (plus a few other breeds) in 5 London pounds that I am trying to move.

Bobbi is a 3 year old neutered male Lurcher who was a sign over due to his owners' circumstances. He is full of energy when out and about and he needs to be kept under control. He is eager to learn and would benefit from further expert training. This handsome boy is very affectionate and enjoys his cuddles. He lived with 12 year old child and a female dog. He HATES small furries! He is vaccinated & microchipped.

Can someone please offer this boy a space?

I will organise the transport for every dog that gets offered a space.

Becky is very very affectionate and loyal. She has loads of energy and loves long walks and to play. She is great off lead and although does pull on the lead when you first set off, she does calm down eventually. She would benefit from more lead training. She is house and crate trained and can be left for a few hours.
She currently lives with children aged 3 and 4, cats, snakes, rabbits and chickens! She would be better as an only dog or with an older, more dominant one.
Becky comes into season every 3 months and has yet to be caught right in the middle to be spayed but this will be in the adoption contract that it needs to be done.

This chap is the utterly handsome 3 year old Tyson. This adorable boy has come into our rescue through no fault of his own. His owner has failing health problems and can no longer give this young guy the exercise and attention he needs. Tyson is entire, vaccinations are up to date and is microchipped. He will need castrating as part of the adoption agreement. His basic commands are good and recall off the lead also good. He mostly lives in outside kennel but we would much prefer him an indoor role to play. Tyson has a good temperament and greeted our assessor with a wagging tail and playful attitude. He can be a little territorial in his own domain but we think with careful and proper introductions he could easily live with another dog, possibly a calm but playful bitch. Tyson is good with older children but due to his playful nature we would only recommend he be rehomed with children 9 years and upwards. Can you give this adorable guy a second chance? Tyson is currently in Derbyshire.

Teddy is an adorable 3 year old Yorkshire Terrier cross who is looking for a loving home that is experienced with terriers and can offer him the training to help him develop and blossom as we know he can.


Poor little Teddy has had quite an unsettled life and is in dire need of stability, structure and training. Ideally he'd like to be an only pet so he can get all the attention to himself though he doesn't mind being with other dogs if they aren't bouncy and in his face.

Teddy loves to run about and play fetch so needs a home where he'll get nice long regular walks (and plenty of toys!)

You'll be pleased to know he hates being dirty so shan't be wallowing in many muddy puddles!





He is quite a possessive little man and needs an owner that is willing to learn about, understand and help train him out of, this behaviour as he has the tendency to become quite possessive over toys and people.

Teddy is a very sweet boy and once he realises you have boundaries, he is a real star.
He would be fine to be left for reasonable periods of time if left with an interesting toy.

Dewi is a stunning 5 year old Harrier Hound who came into our care after being dumped from a van on the mountains and doing his seven days in the pound. He has been with his fosterer for a little while now, waiting for the right home for him to come along.
Dewi measures 18 inches to the shoulder. A few people have thought he was a Foxhound but is quite a bit smaller in comparison - and we all know that the most wonderful things come in small packages.

He can still be slightly nervous about certain things and will need some TLC, but we think he will make a great family member for that special family.

Dewi is a wonderful lad, he loves his home comforts, especially the fire and his bed. But he does also like to be out and about walking with his family. He walks well on lead and gets on well with all dogs he meets.

He is currently living in a family home with two younger children, a male Beagle and a cat. We feel he would be happy to live with children over 5, other dogs and cats.
Dewi's new family must understand that Dewi is a hound, his nose plays a big part in his life, sniffing lots of great things! Dewi's nose sometimes will take over, especially in wooded and country areas. In these areas he is not able to come off lead and must stay on a long line or his nose would take him off sniffing. He has been allowed to go on the beach off lead, due to the very limited amount of smells that he could go off and track and he has done well.
He would also be ok to come off lead in other certain areas that are secure. We are asking homes to consider this and understand you will have to make allowances for him and think about where you will be walking him as well as the fact that he will possibly have to stay on lead.

He will, given the chance, jump a fence or a wall. Due to this any home offer must have a secure garden with six foot fencing.

We would like to find Dewi a home experienced with dog ownership, ideally with someone who has had experience with hounds or gun dog type breeds, but we will consider all home offers for this very special little man.

George came in from a relationship split. He is a loving little lad he knows his name, sit down and wait he is very playful and so gentle, he is super fit

He is fun, frisky and needs an active family environment to keep him stimulated. He is good with other dogs, not tested with cats but due to the breed would not recommend. We would also suggest older children as he is very excitable.

He travels well and walks really well on the lead, he wants to be everyone’s best friends and even when told off by other dogs he just backed of straight away and walked the other way.

He had no problem eating his dinner and. he allowed me to pick his bowl up, He would be pleasant company to anyone as he is so easy going, I really hope George finds his forever home soon as he is lovely.

Other Information

On 4th January we received a call regarding a Weimaraner and a Lab x who were sheltering in the back of a closed down pub in Aberdare. They have done there 7 days in the pound and are now in the care of Friends of the Animals RCT.

Ben the Lab x has been vaccinated, Chipped and although underweight the vet was happy to neuter him. Ben about 4 years old although he does have a slightly grey muzzle but we think that is his coloring. We’re not sure where the sticky up ears come from, any ideas would be gratefully received?

As you can see he's a very affectionate smiley boy, that's probably relieved to be in the company of humans again. He is very strong on a lead and has that enthusiastic bounciness of a young Labrador. He is happy to pull you along with his ball as you can see from one of the photo’s below.

He would benefit from having a home with experience of Labrador’s that are willing and happy to invest some time into training Ben. We believe that he would be an ideal family addition.

As yet we have not be able to mix him with children and due to this, would advise that he should be homed with older children only.

Dawson is a lovely 1yr old Boxer X Great Dane he has come to NRBR from the stray pound and was due to be put to sleep BooooHoooooo>>

He is a very friendly, affectionate and loving dog, he is fine with other dogs, loves to fetch tennis balls, enjoys his runs and he comes back to you - not because he knows his name or anything i think he just loves fuss and is a people dog, he is very sweet and likes to snuggle right up to you. He is happy to be handled and he is fine to look in his mouth, ears and to mess with his feet.

Potential owners are interviewed and a homecheck carried out by a experienced homechecker . New owners sign an Adoption Contract. Ongoing support is provided and regular checks made on all rehomed dogs. Should family circumstances change, dogs are ALWAYS accepted back and re-homed.

These beautiful dogs are looking for a home together, as their owners circumstances have changed meaning they are left outside in a kennel for very long hours, and not getting anywhere near the attention they deserve. Prince is a cream long coated male who is 8 yrs old, and still entire. Sapphire is 7 yrs old, and neither have been microchipped. They are both very affectionate, and crave human attention, which makes their current plight all the more urgent. They tend to ignore other dogs out on walks, however they arent getting regular walks, so will need brushing up on their lead walking skills. Both have good recall. They travel well once they settle down. Both dogs have lived indoors previously, and we will only consider a home for them where they will be indoors. Neither dog has any food or toy possession issues. They are fine with children over the age of 9 yrs old. They both love being groomed, and love having a bath! Both dogs are fine to be left, and dont chew or mess. Please dont be put off by their ages, these 2 stunning dogs have a lot to give. In Scunthorpe , Lincs.

This stunning girl is Brandy, she is 3 1/2 years of age, unspayed but vaccinations are fully up to date, and she is microchipped. We have been asked to find Brandy another home, because she has started to fight with another resident bitch who is also unspayed. This is because Brandy has now matured and is challenging to be pack leader. But she is good with other dogs in general, and can on a daily basis meet up to 20 dogs at any one time and has always been fine with them. Brandy is a very affectionate dog and loves a fuss. She loves water and anything associated with play. She has never lived children, but has never shown any sort of aggression. Brandy has lived with cats in the past but wasn't very good with them. She has good basic commands, and enjoys travelling. She has no food possession issues, but can get protective over her toys if over the dogs are around. She is ok to be left for a few hours without any problems. Brandy possibly has working line in her breeding as she has a lot of energy and could run and play all day, so we are looking an active home for her, in a rural setting, as she isn't used to a lead, as she currently has free running of several acres. She is a beautiful girl, and will make some lucky person very happy. Brandy is currently in the Berkshire area.

Laddie came to us as an unwanted traveller dog, he was very underweight with an old injury to his foot.He was also recovering from Mange. He loves his gentle walks and loves to curl up on the sofa with you (or on you!)
He likes to be left alone and is not happy when other dogs bounce around him. Laddie walks really well on the lead, is walked by a 13 yr old. He is great with kids aged 7+.
Laddie is NOT to be trusted with cats or smaller animals (including puppies)
Laddie is fully vacc'd, microchipped, wormed and de-flead. He will be neutered as soon as he has gained a bit more weight and then he will be ready to go to his new home.

Charlie is an adorable 7 year old Terrier boy who was handed into us due to a change in his family’s circumstances. He had been their cherished boy since he was a puppy and they were heartbroken at having to part with him.


In October 2010, Charlie was diagnosed with diabetes. This is now stabilized with twice daily insulin injections. He has limited vision due to his diabetes but his lack of eyesight doesn't bother him or stop him enjoying his life to the full. He has an acute sense of smell and his hearing is very good, both help to compensate for his lack of sight. He can tell the difference between light and dark.

His diabetes is stable and it's not as frightening as it may sound giving him an insulin injection twice a day. He is a very good boy who knows the routine very well, after his meal he sits and waits for his treat, has his insulin nicely and then has another treat.

We realise the diabetes and its costs may put people of this lovely man, so we are willing to cover the costs of his diabetes and other veterinary treatment he requires for the rest of his life.


He is a wonderful boy and a real character. He enjoys gentle walks and the only thing he loves more than playing with a ball is having a nice cuddle! He loves his toys and can sniff one out from under the sofa, or anywhere else he has lost one.

Charlie adores the grandchildren and would be happy to live with older children as he wouldn’t be happy being jumped all over by toddlers.
Charlie can be a little picky about dogs he likes and dogs he isn’t so keen on so he’d prefer to live as an only dog but could possibly live with another dog or two if they got on well.

We wish to find our Charlie a permanent foster home, he is happy with his current fosterer but we would love him to have a special place all to himself where he can have all the love, fuss and attention he deserves, instead of sharing with a variety of temporary foster dogs coming and going.


Although slightly wary at first, once he gets to know you he’ll be your best friend for life. Can anyone offer Charlie the forever foster home he so deserves?

Holly came into our care after being found as a stray. Holly is approximately 5 or 6 years old and in need of some tlc. Holly travels well, and is clean in her kennel. She is a little wary of strangers, but soon relaxes and is very affectionate. She is fine with other dogs, small and large. Not known how she is with cats. A really nice girl who just needs a loving home. As we know nothing of her background we will only rehome with older children. Holly doesn't mind being groomed. A sweet girl. In kennels in Lancashire.

Lisa01uk87 and her mum got her out of the situation she was in but she was too overwhelmed being around 5 big German Shepherds, so I took her. She came to us having never been wormed, bald back legs with a horrible sore, very upset digestive system and severe separation anxiety from being locked up in a kitchen all day.
She gets attached to people very quickly and that's why she needs a new loving home as soon as possible. I don't want her getting so attached to me and then ripped away again. She is now crate trained, sleeps in a different room at night and can be left for a few hours during the day. She knows "sit" "down" "wait" "bed" "crate" "off" (sofa) and most importantly "No". She's fantastic with other dogs of all sizes and sexes and although she came from a house with other cats I'm not sure exactly how much interaction there was. When she met mine she went for them - this could be worked on. She is getting good at looking at me when a cat comes in the room - she will do anything for the cat's orijen or a bit of cheese lol!
She previously lived with small children and she doesn't jump up anymore unless invited. She is not at all food aggressive.
All in all she's a fantastic wee girl who just wants to snuggle up on the sofa all day with you, but equally will be active outside shredding sticks.

She has been wormed, the hair on her legs is growing back and the sore is gone :)
I am happy to foster her until we find the right home but am looking for help with homechecks, spaying (she is just finishing a season) and a contract assuring she will come back if she ever needs to be rehomed (I would take her back)

So far, she has settled well and been friendly with both people and dogs. She is a bit too interested in cats currently.

She appears quite timid , but loves affection. Like all young dogs she can be bouncy when excited, but training will help her learn

Holly is an absolutely stunning looking girl of 18 months old. She was bred by her owners and is looking for a home as one of the bitches she lives with is too dominant with Holly, meaning they have to be separated. Although Holly does not initiate any squabbles. Holly is a little nervous upon meeting strangers, but shows no aggression, just backs away. She gains alot of confidence from other dogs, so we would like Holly to be rehomed with a steady male dog. Holly dislikes cats, and is not good around livestock. Holly is vaccinated, not microchipped. Holly is a bit strong on the lead, but ignores passing dogs, and has good recall. Holly sleeps happily in the kitchen with other dogs, but is not used to being left. Holly hasnt lived with children, so we will only consider homes with older dog savvy children. Holly is in Port Talbot region, waiting for some lucky person to adopt her.

Mac is a 12 mths old boxer x who has come to NRBR from the stray pound.

Mac has good bodily condition, he is lean build

Mac is good with people, dogs ..interested in cats…but no aggression noted. Knows sit and gives paw.

Likes a ball, tuggee and a squeaky. Very gentle and cuddly boy..plays nicely and leaves when told.. Eager to please..a big soft youngster…he’s very quiet in his kennel ..

Heston is a sweet 2 year old Pug cross Tibetan Spaniel. Heston has been with us a long time - he was homed once but was returned because his adopter could not manage his behaviour. Since then, he has matured and Heston has become more manageable but he still needs a very special home. He needs an owner who can see past his cute fluffiness and see the dog that is desperate for a home of his own.








We believe Heston may have suffered from a type of juvenile epilepsy although we and our vets cannot be sure. He was very unpredictable but this has improved and he is currently in foster with a number of other dogs where most of the time he behaves wonderfully. He does not like dogs who get in his face and who antagonise him and if this happens he will pin them although he no longer bites.

Everyone who knows Heston loves him and it is our wish to find him a home where he will be loved and cherished. In return he will give his adopter hours of fun and be a loyal and loving boy. He is though, first and foremost, a dog and needs an owner that will treat him like one.

He has been assessed by a behaviourist and whoever adopts him will need to continue this at our expense either with the same behaviouist or a qualified one that practices positive methods of training.

Heston needs a home with no children and would, we believe be better as an only dog. He needs to be busy and out and about in the day, this dog is no couch potato although he loves nothing better than a snooze in front of the fire. He loves water and likes to swim, he will walk and run for miles and loves his toys.
