Tragic Customization: Snooki’s Cadillac Escalade EXT

I admit, I watch the Jersey Shore. It reminds me of half of Long Island- which happens to be one of the Guido Capitals, right behind certain parts of Jersey and Staten Island.

Without a doubt, the break-out star of the show happens to be a 4’9” girl from update New York (Fact: anything north of Westchester County is considered Upstate New York.) named Nicole Polizzi, better known as Snooki. On the Jersey Shore Show, the cast gets a house, a job, and two Escalades to drive around in. I guess Snooki was used to the Escalades, so she decides to unload her BMW and purchase an Escalade EXT, and gets it customized.

And this is where the story goes downhill….

Now, there’s a stereotype about New Jersey women, and a few women from New York (not me), and the Wendy Williams Show, Jersey Shore, Jerseylicious, and the Real Housewives of New Jersey basically confirm the stereotype. They like a lot of pink and animal print. When you customize a car, it’s an extension of one’s personality- and sadly, you can't deny that this Escalade belongs to Snooki. Here’s the photos…

These photos were shot in Jersey City, New Jersey where Snooki and her castmate- J-Woww (who's from Long Island) are filming their spinoff show. You were looking at a newest modeled Cadillac Escalade EXT- painted a matte black with hot pink accents. Hot pink grille, hot pink side vents, hot pink trim. You heard me- matte black with hot pink accents, and the photos are perfectly color corrected. When I saw this, I wanted to cry. And the sad this is, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if the interior was leopard or cheetah print.

And this, my friend, is a classic example of when customizing a car goes wrong. Wait, I can find two things that I like: The Hello Kitty Baseball Decal on the back window and the fact that the Escalade came from Long Island.

Give Snooki credit, at least she didn't piss away her millions like the Situation did.

Roadstarr Motorsports Shows off a Stealth Porsche Panamera Turbo

LA's own Roadstarr Motorports released photos of a Porsche Panamera Turbo done the best way anyone could customize a car- Stealth style. According to Roadstarr, "The purpose of this project is to finish off what the Germans did not get a chance to do with class and style. The budget for this project was a mere $49,850.00 (not much for a vehicle of this magnitude). Roadstarr Motorsports is well known for creating the “wow effect”, and that’s exactly what was accomplished on this project “Stealth”."

"The Stealth Project was first and foremost completely striped down to its chassis, followed by engineering aerodynamic effects to make sure that this lion stays on course when the foot is put to the metal. After vigorous tests and analysis, the team decided to use the Aerodynamic aesthetics of World renowned German Tuner “TechArt”. It was a perfect match since Roadstarr Motorsports has a long history relationship with TechArt. The wheels were designed by Roadstarr’s team. The object of the wheels was to keep within the German racing appearance as well as making sure that the big 22” wheel does not create extra weight to keep up with. The wheels designs were precision engineered to minimize UN-sprung mass and rotational inertia's. This was accomplished by utilizing technology used in the aircraft manufacturing industry. The material used is aerospace grade 6061-T6 forged aluminum and stainless steel fasteners. With that said, the team design was based on a three piece wheel. As the body was being prepared to undergo a full paint job, the rest of the team decided to re-engineer the factory ECU (electronic control unit) to make it more management efficient. Thus, adding a whopping extra 45hp to this lioness beast. The factory headers were replaced by custom built headers using titanium headers with an integrated 100 cpsi metallic catalysts. The factory exhaust system was simply thrown out and replaced with a custom built stainless steel exhaust system that’s light without compromising any engineering thus increasing the power on the Stealth an additional 27hp."

Not bad, not bad at all. But everyone knows I'm a sucker for anything stealth and/or completly blacked out. Yes everyone, there is a difference between the two.

713 Motoring gets their hands on Lawrence Vickers' Panamera

(I may not know football, but I do know that the car above is the Jaguar I've been crying over. And not the Panamera that I'm about to talk about)

The Hardworking guys at 713 Motoring released a video of one of their projects- A Porsche Panamera belonging to Houston Texans' Lawrence Vickers. (You know I had to google Houston Texans to find out that's a football team.) Anyway, it started out stock and once Brandon and the crew got their hands on it, it was a done deal. Check it out...

I'm not a fan of red, but it does look good. But... *whispers* I like the Jaguar above way more. And I don't do football, but I will appreciate the cars that the players drive.

P.S. This Saturday marks the beginning of New York Yankee Season. Saturday is the first Preseason game, but if you go to Tampa to see them, don't expect A-Rod, Derek Jeter, CC Sabathia, or my baseball crush Robinson Cano out there. Their season starts in April.

ADV.1 Wheels Shows Off Chevy Corvette ZR1

ADV.1 Wheels released photos of a Chevy Corvette ZR1 done by SR Auto. According to ADV.1, this supercharged beast from the north needed something to set itself apart in the wheel department so SR Auto called us up for a set of ADV10 Deep Concave wheels. The finish was chosen to accent the cars color and we decided on a Brushed Gunmetal lip with a Matte Brushed Titanium center spoke. The finish truly ties the car together perfectly!

Interesting Customization: Tyga's Audi R8

In a photo shoot with Dub Magazine, Roadstarr Motorsports customized an Audi R8 for Young Money's Tyga. Ummm, I'm not going to say much because if you don't have anything nice to say, you shouldn't say anything at all.

This particular Audi R8 will never have the same impact as the Chrome Audi Tron by West Coast Customs. Nuff said. It'll grab attention. I'm hoping it'll look better in person, but probably not.

DC Shoes + West Coast Customs = DC Tundra

Designer Ralph Lauren parts ways with customized Lamborghini Gallardo

Celebrity Car Blog reports that the designer extraordinaire and fellow New Yorker (and he's from the Bronx), Ralph Lauren, decides to sell one of his many cars via Ebay. Before I get into what car he's selling, I'll run down his current list of vehicles. Be prepared to be jealous...

According to his wikipedia page, Ralph currently burns rubber in 70 cars, most of them residing in Westchester County, New York. He owns a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, two Ferrari 250 Testa Rossas, three 1996 McLaren F1s (one of them an ultra-rare F1 LM), a Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, a 1929 Blower Bentley, one Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, a Porsche 997 GT3 RS, a Bugatti Veyron, a 1930 Mercedes-Benz CountTrossi SSK (aka "The Black Prince") a 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Mille Miglia, a Lamborghini Reventón and the rare Reventón Roadster.

ADV.1 Wheels Shows off a Mercedes CLS63

The guys at ADV.1 Wheels released photos of a Mercedes Benz CLS63 gorgeously wearing some shoes. They decided on some staggered 19″ ADV5.21 SL Monoblock wheels and finished it off in a nice titanium color. Tires are R888′s in a 235/35/19 & 305/30/19 combination.

The CLS 63 is my favorite Mercedes, but I do not like the front end.

David Beckham Sells Porsche... AGAIN.

Apparently, the original sale of David Beckham's Porsche 911 didn't last long. Now the Becks is selling it again, this time at Porsche North Scottsdale in Arizona via Ebay. (Note: He should have bypassed the dealer and went to Barrett Jackson. If Funkmaster Flex can sell a car at Barrett Jackson, surely he can).

Let's talk specs...

You're looking at a two door, convertible 2008 Porsche 911 that's completely blacked out. *smiles*. Has 9,859 miles. 6 Spd Automatic transmission. 3.6L H6 SFI DOHC TURBO Gasoline Engine. All Wheel Drive. Clear CarFax report!!!!! The customization does include a custom dual colored interior with "Twenty Three" stitched in the headrests (Let's be real, he should have uncustomized the headrests before he tried to sell this.) Black Matte Aftermarket 20 inch Wheels with 23 in the center caps, and the wheels are sitting on Pirelli Tires, custom floor mats, and most importantly: Matte Black exterior paint with smoked out head and tail lights.

(I don't know how they got those Range Rovers on those rocks, but you couldn't pay me to park them there. My nerves are too bad to try that.)

Now for my disclaimer that will hurt some folks feelings. I'm aware that it's tax time, and some of you are getting that refund. However, if your refund isn't $130,000, then do not entertain the thought of purchasing this vehicle. Who would you rather hear this from- me behind a computer screen or the salesmen at North Scottsdale Porsche face-to-face. Just being honest. I'm not a yes girl.

Butler Tire Shows off a Lamborghini Gallardo

The guys at Butler Tire continues to show the world what they're known for. This time, they've had the pleasure to work their magic on a Lamborghini Gallardo. The guys outfitted the 'Ghini by putting 20 inch Asanti AF167 Wheels as well as adding Hamman Rear Spoiler as the icing on the cake...

I commend them for not using an obnoxious rear spoiler. Usually, when you hear "Rear Spoiler", you tend to think about the import and muscle cars that have them and they don't exactly add anything to the design of the car. It's cute, but I'm honestly not a Lambo person, except if the Concept SUV makes it into production. Now that's more my speed.... literally.

What happens when 713 Motoring gets their hands on Three Range Rovers???

This past weekend, I accidently published the 2012 Houston Auto Show/Dub Car Show Coverage. The last photo happened to have the caption: Would have loved to see a full photo of the Range Rover. It was a white Range Rover HSE with illegal window tint, smoked out headlights, and black aftermarket wheels. But the photographer of the photo took a general crowd shot and cut out half of the Range. Well I got my wish...

Houston's Own 713 Motoring recently had the opportunity to fully customize three different Range Rovers: A Range Rover Sport, A Range Rover HSE, and a Range Rover Autobiography Edition. One of 713 Motoring employees, Shaun, sent me a video of each Range, including the one I wanted to see a full photo of. Let's start with the first one...

The Autobiography Range Rover (also known as the most expensive Range Rover) sitting on Forgiatos happens to be owned by Johnathan Joseph of the Houston Texans (Not gonna lie, I really had to google that one. I don't do football.)

The Second Range Rover has a mystery owner (let's be real- all three of them are a mystery since I'm not into football.) but it's a Range Rover Sport

Finally, the third Range Rover HSE (The one I've been waiting for...), the one with the smoked out headlights and tail lights sitting on 26 inch Asantis. This fully customized Range Rover belongs to Derrick Ward of the Houston Texans (smile and nod). And check this out....

I'm so out of touch with football. I could only name one player from the New York Giants and the only reason I know who Osi Umenyiora is because he rents his Atlanta mansion out for video shoots. Remember my motto "If it's not the New York Yankees, it's over my head." Either way, no matter who the owner was, all three of them walked away with some great customized Range Rovers.

Car Show Coverage: 2011 Los Magnificos

A few weeks ago, I decided to break out of my introverted shell (Yes kids, I'm introverted), and decided to converse with some automotive folks on twitter. I met Shaun- one of the guys who works at 713 Motoring in Houston, TX. I asked him the famous question: What is the best car show in the Houston area, because I know it's not Dub. Let's be real, Dub has become more and more commercialized as the years go on. Shaun told me about Los Magnificos and how they have a "good" turnout. My being such the investigative person that I am (My investigative nature did slip when it came to the Funkmaster Flex "Car Show"), I looked up the Los Magnificos show.

Apparently the Los Magnificos Car Show has been going on since before I was born. And the "good" turnout that Shaun was referring to was a total of 800+ cars, motorcycles, and bikes on display. On display, which means that they paid to show off their cars, it doesn't mean the parking lot. 800+ Cars, motorcycles, and bikes!!!! That's like three car shows in Atlanta put together.

To continue with my research, I did stumble across Hugo Martinez's website, Cadillac Photography's website, and Ruben Serrano's Flickr Page. Basically I found three guys who know photography and that I liked their work enough to feature on this site and of course, give them credit for it.

To shoot a lowrider car show, you have to have a crazy attention to detail, and I say that because those guys will detail a part of a car you wouldn't think of looking at, let alone photographing. It's a challenge, but it's an appreciated challenge. Why do you think I had a field day at the Torres Empire/Lowrider Car Show in LA? The person who took me to that show wasn't the only reason why I had the best time there.)

Car Show Coverage: 2012 Philly Auto Show/ Dub Car Show

Dub continues their car show tour by joining forces with the Philadelphia Auto Show. Like last year, it was held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. When I posted last year's coverage, I used Tri-State Tuners, since they understand the fundamentals of photography. Sadly they posted three times the photos last year than they did this year, so I used both their photos as well as the photos from Dub Magazine.

I love the theme, how they used the Pennsylvania license plate design as the logo. I see they have state pride, even though the Phillies did lose to the Yankees in the World Series.

On to the photos, and the photos with the Tri-State Tuners watermark is from Tri-State Tuners.com (duh.) and the photos without the watermark is from Dub Magazine. Capisce? (Sorry, I've been watching too much Mob Wives. Renee is starting to rub off on me. Who am I kidding? You could never watch enough Mob Wives.)

Optima Batteries releases trailer for Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational

The two-minute trailer includes dramatic on-track footage of every challenge, interviews with OPTIMA Invitational participants and commentary by this year’s hosts, Bill Goldberg and Adrienne Janic.

In addition to the Saturday, Feb. 25 airing, the 2011 OPTIMA Invitational is scheduled to re-air on SPEED at the following times:

Car Show Coverage: 2012 Houston Auto Show/Dub Car Show

It took me FOREVER, but I found a couple of photos from the 2012 Houston Auto Show. As a photographer-- you know what, I shouldn't sell myself short. As a published photographer (that sounds better), I know a good photo when I see one. I know the difference between creative and "I don't know what I'm doing". I had the hardest time finding photos from the 2012 Houston Auto Show because I found photos from the Auto Show part, and they totally ignored Dub Car Show area, which isn't right. I don't live near Houston, I want to see the entire show. If it's two shows in one, show BOTH shows. But a few days ago, Dub finally released their photos. Thank you Jesus.

During the weekend of my birthday (Jan 25- 29), Houston threw their annual Auto Show, however this year was a little different. Like the Philly and New York Auto Shows, Dub teamed up with them and combined the two together. Of cource, that sucked for Dub- yes you do get a longer time period for a show (5 days), however you only get a piece of the show. In the past Dub has shut down an entire building and great cars have shown up. But I'm not Dub and I have no idea if the 2011 Dub Car Show in Houston had a great turnout. Judging by the photography, it looked like one, but by no means am I a CPA (Certified Public Accountant).

Luckily I was able to find photos provided by GregHTown through flickr (I liked his photos the most), hellasoul.com, and Dub's Magazine's Flickr.

I really wished she dressed in her pin-upy look.

The Lexus IFA looks good.

I like the exhaust. Normally, you don't see the three tailpipes making a pyramid.

I think buying a car from a person who owns a customization shop is the best move, because a shop owner is ALWAYS going to make sure that their car is their business card on wheels.

Case in point....

West Coast Customs owner and Inside West Coast Customs Star, Ryan Friedlinghaus made the ultimate decision and is selling his 2008 Mercedes-Benz S63 via ebay. This extremely low milaged (36,028 miles) luxury car also has a clean carfax report and has the starting bid of $70,000.

For once, FOR ONCE West Coast Customs has listed the specs of this customized car. Per the ebay listing:
Fully loaded premium 3 package, dynamic rear view monitor, night vision, Ipod Integration Kit, Parktronic, Rear Seat Package- 8 Way Power Adjust, Heated, and Ventilated Rear Seats (valued at $2,900), Panoramic Roof, 22 in Asanti Rim sitting on Continental Tires, Custom Fabricated 11 Piece Body Kit (Supposedly better than Lorinser) which includes the front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper, front fenders, etc, a one of a kind custom fabricated exhaust made especially for the car, with over $50,000 in custom parts, accessories, labor, and fabrication spent on this S63 AMG.

According to West Coast Customs, "We really spared no expense in the build of this one of a kind S63 using only the highest quality merchandise and craftsmanship, taking it to the next level..." Duh, this was the owners car. Of course they would use the highest quality merchandise and craftsmanship. It's not like this belonged to the guy who washes the cars.

The guys at ADV.1 Wheels released photos of a Maserati GranTurismo. They chose a 22X9.5, 22X12 staggered fitment in our ADV5.0 spoke design and Track Spec forging configuration. The finish was kept simple with a brushed aluminum / polished aluminum combination to compliment and not distract from the already gorgeous metal sheet work. Check... It... Out...

Three months ago, we first locked eyes in Las Vegas. He was on stage and he found me in the crowd. I found my way to him and from there we-- sorry. This was starting to sound like a cheesy love story... Like those romance books with the guy on the horse. Mark my words, I will never read those books. But I wasn't lying when I said this was my new lover for 2012.

Three months ago, Galpin Auto Sports brought one of their greatest creations-- a Black Wide-bodied Ford Mustang Super Snake to SEMA. Personally, this was the best car at SEMA. PERSONALLY!!!! It was so great, I offered to unload GAS of this burden. Sadly, they laughed at me.

Galpin Auto Sports knew they had a gem on their hands so why not show it off. They decided to release the pre and the production aspect of it, and like a girl in love, I can't wait. But for now, they released teaser clips of the full length video...

I see they captured the essence of it being a teaser.
