But no matter how I’m passionate about it, I still don’t consider myself as an economist. It’s a tough field, a social science that tackles the realities in the outside world. I call it the science of choice. This summer I am tasked once again (after few years) to teach econ101 or principles of economics. It’s good for me, I am reminded of the basic economic theories. With all the topics that fancy me, the law of supply and demand is the easiest part to discuss, maybe because students and I, myself can relate with its examples.

There are several ways to state the law of demand and the law of supply. Keep in mind that the law of demand is on the consumers’ perspective and the law of supply is on the producers’ perspective. This is the version of the law of demand that I taught this summer: “All other things equal, when price falls quantity demanded rises.” And for the law of supply: “All other things equal, when price falls quantity supplied falls.” The relationship of price and quantity demanded is inverse while price and quantity supplied is directly proportional.

The mechanism in the law of demand and supply is price. It’s the price that determined the quantity demanded and quantity supplied Yet, in a market economic system, the interaction between demand and supply affects prices. The government has no full control over prices. It’s the market that set prices. Even stock prices are governed by the law of demand and supply. With the information available over the internet, online stock trading is easy. Check these websites for more information: philstocks.ph and timothysykes.com.

Other products’ prices like tomatoes, hamburger, cellphone units, beverages, etc. are also affected by the law of demand and supply.

<!-- AdSense Now!

Frogs like choral group are in synchronized singing again. With no special attention, the sound (noise) is raucous and out of tune. But in a little while when you got used to it, frogs’ songs are after all with rhyme and pattern. This is a proof that the month of May has arrived. Frogs sing only after a heavy rain. Rains mark the beginning of the month of May and the onset of a long rainy season. I recall my teacher in elementary grade who said (when our class was noisy) that we’re like wet frogs.

It has been two consecutive late afternoons already that the rains with thunder and lightning are heavy. The first one was when one Saturday I was about to leave Dagupan after I taught in the graduate school. Thunders were roaring and lightnings flash in any direction. The scene was frightful. I thought of Armageddon (although Armageddon is something we should not afraid of). I couldn’t wait for thunderstorm to cease. I drove home with some fears of what I might face along the way. Finally, I got home wet and relieved. The second heavy rain this May was predictable. Dark clouds started to form and moved slowly westward. It was also as fearsome as the first. Yet, I was more relaxed because I was at home with family when the rain got angry with our roofs.

Rains have several meanings. There are underlying stories that they bring. They don’t just bring but create memories that will last for many years or even a lifetime. We despise them sometimes when they came at the wrong time. Most often they are sort of a blessing.

The next time it rains hard, look at the two sides of them.

It’s intense. Every sip makes a memory, a moment to remember. The aroma is invigorating. That’s my new love, the new 3in1 Nescafe Gold. It redefines how I look at 3in1 coffee. Nescafe Gold has been in the market for sometime. It has its market niche, highly focused. It manifests on its packaging and more noticeable on its price. With the introduction of Nescafe Gold’s 3in1 coffee, it could penetrate a segment of the market that the classic Nescafe 3in1 could not. The price I should say is also “Gold” so to speak because it is significantly higher than the others.

I still enjoy coffee every morning of my life. Breakfast could be skipped but not coffee. It’s a habit that breaking free from it is somewhat difficult if not impossible. It’s a good habit that I don’t want to quit. With the researches that support the claims that coffee has antioxidants and other health benefits, I am a captive.

Drinking coffee is not seasonal. Rain or shine, summer or winter, coffee is a beverage for all seasons. With the new 3in1 Nescafe Gold, my newfound love, life is beautiful and it’s worth living no matter what.

My wife gives me a massage when I ask her and when she feels like I need it. She used to follow a certain pattern or steps in massaging which I really enjoy. In return, I also do the same with her. I am relaxed when being massaged. Stress is one of the reasons why I need occasional massage. Work makes me stress out. I’m not alone, almost all who work have tried a certain level of stress. Because of some changes in circumstance (with the arrival of a new baby), massages from my wife became more and more seldom. I do understand because I know how tough to be a mother of two children.

Yet, massage is not forgotten and altogether avoided. I work from Mondays to Saturdays. Weekend work has let me experience massage from blind masseurs. After teaching in the graduate school, I still have 30minutes to 1 hour waiting time before I finally bid goodbye to Dagupan. I use the time to roam around Nepo mall. One Saturday, I realized that I could have used the hour to have my massage and I did.

The first massage I received from a blind masseur was fine. The second one was better than the first. However, the third massage was disappointing. Service like massage is highly variable. It varies from person to person. It depends on the person who provides the service.

Massage in Nepo and massages New York are both affordable. That’s one thing they shared. Other than that they are opposites. Names like Zaarly, blind masseurs cooperative, and among others offer affordable and relaxing massage. Have your massage now and reap the good benefits it brings!

Complex decisions will affect the entire course of our life, our purpose, goals, and mission if we have any. In all these decisions, geographic locations or places are considered. Yes, there is always a place for the word “place.” In the W questions, Where demands our scrutiny, we’ll have problems with it if we decide on it later when it’s too late. For many, it’s the first consideration (it should be), for some it is the last thing on their mind. Anyway, we have the ability to adapt. Consider these few matters that require our decisions:

College Schooling: If you are planning to go to college, what school and where are two inseparable considerations. To lower the cost of education, you should stay in close proximity of the school or better yet on its dormitories. There are houses for rent, bed space, or apartments that suit your budget. Studying far away from home has several repercussions both financially and emotionally and most of all morally.

Employment: Having an employment is a need to satisfy your needs. With the escalating problem on unemployment, you dare accept a job away from home. Most go offshore for employment. It’s a personal decision but requires considerations of several factors including where to work and what will be the mode of accommodation.

Raise a Family: Time will come when you will feel the need to raise a family. It can be planned or unplanned, better it is planned so as the different issues like housing, education for children, needs and wants satisfaction can be addressed on. Many families decided to live a simple life and they are benefited from it. They built simple houses. Some brought their families at the place of their employment. They rented houses or live in the houses provided by the companies they work on.If you intend to do this you have several options where to stay. you can check Airbnb and others.

They might really happen. Last summer 2011, I read another novel of my favorite author Nicholas Sparks entitled “The Lucky One.” I was luckier that time I still had a chance to read freely. I bought a new book of the same author called “The Best of Me” and I couldn’t really find time to finish it knowing that I acquired it 7 months ago. After reading The Lucky One, I wished that there’ll be a movie of it just like the other novels-turned-movies of Sparks. My wish came true. In the Philippines, this summer 2012, “The Lucky One” movie came out.

In 2010, Dear John movie was a hit. The actor Channing Tatum portrayed the role of John who truly exemplified the character in the book. In the movie The Last Song, singer Miley Cyrus played the role of Ronnie and gave justice to it. I am excited with The Lucky One, the actor that played Logan was the High School Musical 2 actor Zac Efron who really made a big changed to give life to the role. He gained 20 pounds to portray the US marine in the book and chopped locks of his image.

If I can find time to watch it on big screen I’ll bring my wife with me who also became a fan of Sparks. She also became appreciative with romance novels and movies. I am a lucky guy with her. I am the Lucky One because I am her husband.

With a greater access to information, faster and virtually everywhere, people become savvy in almost all things. If you don’t upgrade, you’ll be left behind. To keep in step with the fast-paced changing environments, you need to further your education. Seemingly college education could no longer suffice the demands of times. We need a convergence of practical, intuitive, and theoretical approaches to the field of business. How? I’ll be doing a thing I was doing when I was in high school. Any idea?… I wasn’t a happy-go-lucky guy back then (I couldn’t afford to be like that). I wasn’t a serious-to-death academician either (none of my vocabulary). Believe it or not, I was an electrician. Being alive today is a proof that I wasn’t electrocuted. I could have ended up as an electrical engineer or a master electrician if I continued to pursue a career in electricity. By the way, why the background? I graduated in high school from a trade school. I am lucky to be a part of Pangasinan School of Arts and Trades ( I can still sing the school’s hymn).

My task today is to install a lamp for our kitchen extension. I bought some materials needed (while doing it, I remembered the time when I was new in Dagupan city, a neophyte high school student of seemingly no place to go). I prepared the tools needed and readied myself for the task I haven’t been doing for several years. Fortunately, I can still recall the tools by names. Inevitably, the image of my stern teacher in technology and home economics (THE) came back to my mind (it wasn’t altogether a bad memory, I am still thankful of his disciplinarian disposition).

And the time has come to strike my hands using screw drivers against the screws. The wires are ready to be fastened. Poook pook pook! In just few minutes the lamp was installed.
