Cynthia Rowley Mr. Powers Menswear Launch Event with the Charleston Mercury‏

Back in April, Cynthia Rowley gave her menswear line a makeover by creating more of a laid-back, rugged selection of fashion-forward separates including: tweed Chesterfield jackets, striped cardigans and patterned T-shirts. The Fall 2011 collection offers a laid-back, rugged, and fashion forward selection of separates ranging from $95 to $595. Cynthia received a previous nod from the CFDA for her Rowley collection of menswear, but with Mr. Powers embraces a whole new theory of fashion styling centered on the concept that men dress most creatively from the waist up. Cynthia explained, “We’re only doing tops, no pants, because we think everyone looks better with jeans – and guys already have their favorite jeans.”

Attended: Versona Accessories Grand Opening Mount Pleasant

Versona Accessories, a women's specialty retailer that carries fashion jewelry, handbags, shoes and more, celebrated there grand opening on November 17 in Mt. Pleasant Town Centre. Caroline R. from Feedback, an emerging media company whose headquarters is located in Richmond, Virgina, contacted me to inform me of the new store opening.

When I arrived at the location, there was a feeling of being overwhelmed because there were so many options to choose from, and being super excited because this was the biggest accessory store I had ever seen. Heels, flats, brooches, handbags, belts, hair accessories, eye-wear, body care, and more were in abundance located throughout the store. Everything was neat, organized and I noticed most items were separated into color schemes. Pieces ranged from simple, for everyday wear, to extravagant for formal wear. The price range is priced for every budget; bracelets ranging from $5.99-$24.99, scarves ranging from $7.99-$19.99 and tops ranging from $7.99-$49.99. Although most of there merchandise are accessories, I would consider Versona a retail clothing store as well. It was really refreshing to see that they carry plus sizes clothing up to a size 26.

Overall, I had a great experience at the Versona Accessory grand opening day. The staff were extremely helpful & kind and there was a good variety to choose from. I have a $25 gift card, so, haul coming soon! Thanks Caroline!

Fall 2011/Winter 2012 Footwear Trend- The Skate Boot

Giving you the "scoop" on what trend to look for this fall and winter, the skate boot. Tuscan-born Alain Quilici is the latest to try the trend by creating his Payson Skate Lace Up Booties. The skate boots can be recently spotted on Beyonce and Super Stylist June Ambrose. Beyonce's version is by Alian Quilici at the cost of $1,180. These leather booties feature a carved 5 inch heel with a 1 inch platform running from heel to toe and a side zipper with a contrasting lace up front. Paired with the skate booties, she wore were a red cutaway jacket accessorized with an Alexander McQueen chiffon leopard skull print scarf ($384) and denim jeans. If you want to get the look of the skate boot, Jeffrey Campbell created an more affordable version retail at $255. Jeffrey Campbell's Leather Skate boots can purchased at Urban Outfitters.

Attended: Carolina Bloggin Luncheon/Weblog Awards 2011

Last Saturday, I and 24 of my fellow Carolina bloggers had the pleasure of attending the Carolina Bloggin 2011 luncheon at Gervais & Vine located in Columbia, SC. Dollface Style Scoop along with The Fat and Skinny on Fashion and the Shop Tart were all finalist for best Fashion/Beauty Blog. I didn't know what to expect, but from what Jai from the Fat and Skinny on Fashion said, this gathering is always insightful, inspiring and educational. Before any of the festivities started we all had a chance to mix, mingle and meet one another, put faces to blogs and reconnect. During that time the wait staff at Gervais & Vine, a Mediterranean & Tapas Bar, placed an array of hor dourves on the bar for us to enjoy, and that I did! Hummus, cream cheese and salmon spread, sweet potato wedges, an assortment of cheeses were offered as light appetizers for us to partake in. The main course was a family style buffet, which included: Shrimp, grits, pulled pork, coleslaw and barbecue chicken skewers. Cream puffs and mini chocolate filled pastries were served for desert. Besides the food, the guest speakers were my favorite part. Alfonso FM, Rashon Carraway from Mr. Goodwill Hunting and Brad Warthen were the speakers that evening. They shared a wealth of information, experience, success and gave great advice on how to handle certain situations that might arise when dealing with social media.

I also got to reconnect with Eb for Make Me Over Eb; she's such a people person and has a beautiful personality. Jai from the Fat and Skinny on Fashion; I call her my Fashion BFF. Mikelle Street from Musings of a Gallivanting Boy; he's a guy on a mission, so much drive and ambition. KJ from H1gher Learning; we met and Charleston Fashion Week 2011, he's doing big things for the Urban/Hip Hop community of Charleston.

Event: Candy Shop Vintage & Retulled: Tutus by Siobhan Open Studio Night

Next Wednesday, you can find me paloozing around the Candy Shop Vintage Showroom room, located on Broad Street in Charleston, enjoying their open studio night with cocktails, vintage jewelry and tutus. What a great combo! I'm a sucker for anything vintage, so when I discovered Candy Shop Vintage via twitter a few months ago, I could'nt wait to see the pieces in person. I got that opportunity at the Sale Soiree; I was amazed at the selection and variety.

I'm in search of a few nice bold vintage pieces to add to my every growing collection and to sport at NYFW next year in February. Retulled Tutus by Siobhan, a custom & ready-made tutu and accessory line, will also be in attendance selling one of a kind pieces.

Lush UK Haul & Skin Drink Moisturizer Review

Lush products have been apart of my daily skincare regimen for about 2 years. I purchase products on-line through Lush USA or Lush UK about every 2 months. One benefit of purchasing from the Uk site is you save money because of the pounds to dollars exchange rate. My skin has improved tremendously since I began to use Porridge, Sexy Peel and Ice So Blue Soap, which are three of my favorites.

On this order I purchased:

Sexy Peel (2)- $4.18 each

Porridge (2)- $3.79 each

It's Raining Men Shower Gel (100g)- $5.45

Skin Drink Moisturizer (45g)- $14.76

Total + Shipping: $45.30

Every fall/winter I change my moisturizers; the cold weather tends to dry the skin in my T-zone area. I opted for a heavier moisturizers, so I choose Skin Drink. It's an natural moisturizer that's designed to leave the skin feeling smooth and hydrated without feeling heavy or greasy.

I incorporated Skin Drink in my daily face routine for a least a month before I decided to write a review on it. This is a great moisturizer if you have dry skin, otherwise, it can be too heavy for your skin. I would not recommend this for someone with oily skin or wearing it doing the summer/spring seasons. The texture is of a rich, smooth, whipped cream consistency; a little goes a long way. Being that most of the ingredients are natural, I compare the smell of this product to walking in a farmer's market and smelling a combination of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Overall, this product does exactly what I needed it to do; combat my dry skin and keeps it moisturized throughout the day. This would be great for bare skin.

Two thumbs up!

Kanye West Debuts Spring 2012 Womenswear "DW" Collection at Paris Fashion Week

Yezzy finally debuted his long awaited womens ready-to-wear 2012 spring/summer collection at Paris Fashion Week this Saturday. There were no live streams of the show, but if were scouring Facebook and Twitter, you would have been able to practically see the whole collection via fashion bloggers and fashion insiders.

The collection featured leather, suede, cut-outs, deep plunges, fur fabrics, zipper placements, and fur backpacks, just to name a few. All of the models wore a dewy, soft, fresh makeup look and sported long wefts with a side part. I thoroughly enjoyed this collection. For the most part it was cohesive, and included great pieces. Some say that it was three collections in one, but I tend to like collections that give you a variety of color and looks. I loved all of the all white pieces and the royal blue over-sized top had to be one of my favorite pieces. British designer Louise Goldin and Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci assisted in helping Kayne's vision come alive. If he continues to make collections seasons after seasons, I envision him making a name for himself in the fashion industry as a designer.

Chanel Iman, Girl you better Werk! Great Job Yezzy, cant wait to see more!

*Update* Kanye's collection is named after his mother, Donde West who passed away in 2007. Big wigs such as Anna Wintour, Syliva Fendi, Alexander Wang, Jeremy Scott and Joesph Altuzarra sat front row.

USC Denim Drive & Bake Sale Kicks off Week-Long Charity Event

Join the students & staff at USC to kick off Lee Denim National Denim Day to fight against breast cancer and benefit homeless children. Denim will be collected by Fashion Board USC on Oct. 3 as a part of the National Lee Denim Day to kick o a week long of charity for the student organization. This year, in addition to their Lee Denim Day drive, the Fashion Board will collect denim throughout the week for their partnership with American Eagle.

Denim collected on Monday will benefit homeless children while funds raised through the bake sale, along with any monetary donations received, will go towards the fight against breast cancer. Denim collected throughout the week will be converted into building materials for houses to benefit underprivileged families. In addition to this, the organization will be campaigning for Facebook "likes" on the AE Student Union at University of South Carolina. One-hundred "likes" will translate into $600 towards the Lee

Denim Day charity to fight breast cancer. Denim donations will be accepted on both Greene Street as well as in front of the Moore School of Business at the Fashion Board tables where the bake sale will also be held from 9AM-2PM. Throughout the week denim can be dropped off in specified “denim drops” around campus as well as in various dorms and sorority houses.

If you are an emerging fashion designer located in the eastern United States,* this is your chance to prove your talent! Twenty winning designers will show their collections at Charleston Fashion Week^® 2012, March 20-24 in Charleston, SC. One designer will be crowned Charleston Fashion Week's Emerging Designer: East Grand Prize Winner. All 20 semifinalists will receive accommodations while in Charleston.

A select number of semifinalists will show each night where one (1) designer from each evening will be selected by a panel of judges as a finalist to advance to Saturday evening and have the chance to be named the Grand Prize Winner. Designers must present collections for Fall 2012 or Swimwear/Resort 2013 and include twelve (12) looks in total. Semifinalists will be asked to show eight (8) looks the night of their runway presentations (the nights of Tuesday, March 20 – Friday, March 23). Finalists will be asked to show their entire collections (the original eight (8) looks plus an additional four (4) looks) on Saturday, March 24, 2012.

Friday's Fashion DIY: Shirt Lamp

In 2002, designer Hector Serrano came up with a innovated idea to create a clothes hanger lamp that would give your space a touch of decor with a versatile lighting option. The Amsterdam based design enterprise, Droog, sells the item for a whopping $283.00. I came across a renidtion of Hector's desgin on a DIY website that I frequent called Curbly. Kate Pruitt adapted the original design with improvements and managed to create a similar fixture with beautiful 3D effect, to which you can hang a shirt, a dress, a sweater or whatever you prefer. Lanvin Love from Ms. Kelly Rowland

Leaving he NBC Studio in New York City, Ms. Kelly Rowland sported a simple but trendy outfit; plum colored skinny jeans, paired with a short sleeve white V-neck and minimal accessories prove that this is a great everyday causal outfit. The best piece was the Lanvin Escarpin snake-print wedges priced at $1,120. These wedges are open-toe leather wedges featuring a snakeskin print on a textured wooden wedge heel and a grosgrain ribbon ankle tie.

Kelly's “Here I Am”album, released on July 22, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 after logging 77,000 copies. She has also signed on to be a judge for this up and coming season of X Factor. It's great to see that Kelly has gain more respect and exposure in the U.S. music industry compared to what she's accomplished overseas. People are finally realizing that she is a force to be reckoned with with an immense amount of talent.

Attended: 3rd Semi-Annual Sale Soiree

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of attending the 3rd Semi-Annual Sale Soiree held at Memminger Auditorium in Charleston. Upon arrival, my guest (mommy dearest) and I were greeted by hostess who gave us 2 drink tickets and treats from YesUMay Cookies of Charleston. We then entered the auditorium; this was a fashion retail addicts dream! There were a sea of vintage jewelry, designer handbags, high end resale clothing, facials being given to attendees, and more. Each vendor was different from the next and offered a variety of items. A few of my favorite vendors were: Candy Shop Vintage, Smolder Boutique and Maslo Jewerly.

The Groove Junkies got the crowd going by singing "Forget You" by Cee-Lo, Stella Nova gave out manicures and Nola Johnson & Josh Ratiff were choosing ten contestants for best dressed contest. Myself, Amber Daniels, Dulaan Walker-Li, Tawanda Carlton and PAR's volunteer Meisha were all chosen as semi finalist. Circa PR's stylish intern Amber Daniels was awarded best dressed for the night sporting a leopard print mini skirt, a gold Rocker Chic jacket from Smolder Boutique and a pair of black strapped wedged heels; she was styled perfectly! Among the guest that night were the beautiful publicist Katie Kern of Circa PR, whom I always enjoy seeing at events, and Nashonda Hunter.

Big thanks to my mom whom I dragged alone with me that night, but she was a good sport about it and ended up having a great time.

Styl'd: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Sporting Chloe in the West Village

English actress and model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, whom recently became the face and figure of Burberry Fragrance, was spotted walking in West Village, New York wearing a pair of nude leather Chloe braided ankle strap ballerina flats, priced at $490, carrying a Chloe Red Paraty leather bag priced at $1,895. The 24 year old, Transformer 3 starlet, looked stunning wearing simply pieces that made a overall bold statement. The nude color of the flats, pastel teal high waisted skirt, white top, caramel colored belts, and the contrast of the deep red handbag all blends well together. This is look I could see myself wearing; I was instantly drawn to the Chloe ballerina flats because of the jewel encrusted braided ankle strap.

Another promising, drama filled season of Gossip Girl is in production in New York City; women from the age of 13 to 27 are all over the net trying to figure out what Blair Waldorf is wearing this season. I'm apart of that statistics too; how can you blame us? Anytime I hear "Gossip Girl" the word associations that come to mind are: high fashion and amazing styling.

If Nicki Minaj isn't considered a style icon, then she's on her way to making it happen. What I love about her looks is they incorporate high end pieces and affordable pieces. She's currently in Miami, Florida for the Femme Fatale tour and she was spotted wearing Opening Ceremony Margot wedge sandals ($365.00), a black studded jacket by Betsey Johnson, gold glitter & black striped leggings by Brian Lichtenberg ($209.00) paired with 2010 Lichtenberg for Forever 21 t-shirt. When I saw her photos I was immediately drawn to the wedges, which are orange leopard print and patent leather platform featuring a lace-up front, open-toe, open heel, and a high wedge heel.

Saturday afternoon the world received devastating news that the "Back to Black" songstress Amy Winehouse had passed away in her flat located in London. For her true fans, Amy's talent outweigh any problems that she had with substance abuse. I've seen lots of postings on twitter and facebook of people stated that Amy's songs help them fight depression and overcome substance abuse. Not only was she extremely talented, but she inspired many in the beauty industry with her signature winged eyeliner and pink lips. May she rest in peace and her legacy (in a positive light) live on for years to come.
