Palmer's Eventone Fade Cream - This is a rich cream formulation that like the rest of the Palmer's range is designed to even skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots caused by age, pregnancy or through sun damage. The one I bought has an spf 15, there is one without. This product contains active ingredients kojic acid, vitamin C, E and alpha hydroxy acid help even skin tone and lighten the appearance of dark spots. rrp 2.7oz AUS $16.95 US $8.47.

Results:
Garnier Dark Spot Corrector - light in texture, non greasy, absorbed easily, citrus scent slightly strong for me, however it does fade quickly after application. Skin instantly looked brighter from the off. Over the next two month or so I noticed my skin looked brighter and toned. It states you should notice visible changes after 4 weeks. I personally did not see any change to my dark spots or freckles. I was monitoring certain area on my left side of my case near my eye.

Would I carry on using it - yes, I will finish what I have left as many people commented on my skin looking brighter, appeared more even and glowing, so great as a illuminating moisturiser. For me it is not a must have for dark spot correction, it will visibly make you skin look healthier but it is just another great high street lightweight moisturiser I am afraid!

Palmers Eventone Fade Cream - thicker in texture and matte in appearance once applied. The smell put me off this product more than anything It smelt like it was off and slightly chemically, this is due to the SPF. I applied the amount in the picture above to my dark spots in particular and then what was left to the rest of my right side of my face. Over the weeks my skin appeared more toned and I did see some improvement to my dark spots and skin tone. They seemed to be fading or patchy. I was monitoring an area on my right cheek specifically. Also note if you are going through skin laser treatment for pigmentation do not use this product as it contains AHA's.

Would I carry on using it - well not this version purely down to the smell. I think I would go for the non spf version next time. So, yes I would purchase again. I am sure with more use I would see more changes to my skin tone. I remember buying it because it had the spf in it, thought about the added protection, however from now on I would always use a separate spf sun protection product (thanks SunSense) as part of my skincare routine. I really can't take a chemically smelling product. I am a girl after all!

How do I look? No peachy clear skin here! When I saw this I was in shock to say the least. A little about me - I am from Ireland originally and have lived in the UK most of my life until last year when I moved to Australia for a couple of years. I always wore sun lotion on holiday, us girls we pretty good at that but I am sure I was not wearing the right SPF, due to my ignorance and wanting a tan like pretty much most of us when you in your teens and on hols with the girls. I generally didn't burn, but I definitely did not re-apply enough and I loved water so spent a lot of time in the sea. So my face really did take a UV hit in my younger days. So I, like Carrie Bickmore are just under average meaning our skin, if we dont start protecting ourselves more from UV rays could get a lot worse. There are small changes you can make and Carrie and I discussed what they were and how its made her feel when she had her scan done, basically pretty much the same as me, shocked! * be consistent - ensure you use it every day as part of your skincare routine
* you are never too young to start looking after your skin and protecting it from the sun, even on those CLOUDY days
* remember if you are outside for long periods of time whether that be on the beach, park or even shopping ALWAYS re apply.

Carrie Bickmore TV Presenter and SunSense Brand Ambassador

I also met Dr Kerryn Grieve who is Head of Research & Development at Ego Pharmaceuticals who produce SunSense skincare range and is basically a UV and sun screen guru! She is also their official spokesperson on all things SunSense. Dr Grieve has worked in Australia, UK and US and has a wealth of knowledge within in this area of skincare and is working to ensure the testing standards are updated effectively enabling more protective sun screens, like SPF50+ are readily available. She is lovely and I am hoping to catch up with her again about her work in this area. It has to be said, she has the most flawless skin I have seen and as you would expect she has no tan!

Dr Grieve has kindly put together and provided me with her personal 'stay safe in the sun' tips list that I would like to share with you, click here. This is for you to keep and share with family and friends. These tips may seem obvious but how many do you truly follow? How conscious are you that you are protecting your skin enough? I know I have not followed all. However after Tuesdays UV scan I am improving on the previous changes I had made in my skincare routine and how I protect my skin, ensuring I use a sun screen everyday (not just relying on my moisturiser or foundations spf) no matter what the weather as I am determined not to damage my skin any further.

Le Edge - The Exfoliator

Fed up with your loofah or exfoliating puff ball just hanging there in the bathroom, sometimes needing a wash itself?! Thinking about buying a new one to achieve sexy smooth and clean skin without product fuss? Well you may want to take a look at Le Edge.

What is it? Apart from looking rather like a large razor (which it is not), it is a new tool for exfoliation of the body, and is also for use on the face.

How does it work? Using it on wet skin only, so perfect for use when you are in the shower. Le Edge helps remove dead skin cells, dirt that sits on the top of you skin, leaving you with fresh clean and brighter skin.

The tip is made from surgical steel to hygienically exfoliate the surface layers of your skin. It is smooth to the touch.

I personally have been using it on my legs prior to shaving, just using the warm water from my shower no other products as instructed. After the first use I didn't see much of a change, however now after a few more uses and together with my body aftercare I have noticed a real difference to my skin, more so at the top of my legs where I occasionally get a slight bumps, these have diminished completely. The instructions states it is best held at a 45-degree angle, which I think you would do naturally due to the shape, if you dont try to just helps achieve a better result. I have now started using it on other parts of my body like the tops of my arms and my face which is really sensitive to facial scrubs and seems to be fine so far although I do feel like I have a big shaver to my face due to its shape - is not sharp or shaver like in anyway. You do not need to place a lot of pressure just let it do its work.

This is going to be great after being at the beach to help remove the remainder of my sun tan lotion and if you like fake than this also might be a great help for pre and post tan application. If you are male (blue version available) or female looking for something new to aid smooth clean skin you may want to consider Le Edge.

Nutra Nail Gel Perfect - 5 Minute Manicure

Nutra Nails Gel Perfect "5 minute" gel colour manicure is an at-home manicure product that is based on the gel manicures you may go and have done at a nail salon. Compared to other 'gel' at home Mani's there is no UV/LED light or long drying/waiting period. It is very simple to use although you do have to work quickly.

Nail prep: Prior to application ensure your nails are completely clear of any old nail lacquer, treatments etc. If required perform your normal tidy up; so a file, reshape and cuticle tidy.

Product: Consists of an activator*, nail polish, brush cleaner

Step 1: Nutra Nail Activator
Start with the hand you have more trouble applying nail lacquer to it will help. Apply the 'activator' to each nail of your first hand and ensure it does not dry and move to step 2.
Step 2: Nutra Nail Colour
Apply immediately in a thin layer to each nail of your first hand where you have applied the activator.
Step 3: Brush Cleaner
With a paper towel/tissue remove the excess nail colour and place into the brush cleaner bottle and that brush into the nail polish bottle - this is to help reduce the product build up caused by the activator. If the brush is not clean it will effect the finish.

Repeat the process on for a second time and then on your other hand. It is suggested that you only apply two coats of the nail lacquer. Full detailed instructions are in the box please read carefully. You can also watch a how-to video on the Nutra Nail website.

Results and thoughts:
The finish is a semi-gloss finish with the colour I applied - Orchid. It did for me only take about 5 minutes and pretty much was dry and hard in that time so no smudges or dings here, so it lived up to that claim! The activator I found gave of some fumes, so make sure you are in a large room and not a bathroom. This little bottle is also more commonly known as false nail glue(see below ingredients list) which did cause a little problem but soon rectified as I had filed my nails right down so my nail tip hit the skin of my finger on one or two of my fingers I had the nail and skin stick together. If you do have short nails to press your finger into the table so the nail is away from the skin and do not run the activator along the top of the nail like they show you on the Nutra Nail website. Also ensure you remove any excess prior to application. If you have long nails you will be fine.

My nails lasted pretty well, one did chip on day two ever so slightly. I wore it for 3-4 days before I removed it. This product would be good for an occasion like a wedding, a special event, or you don't have much time. Also if the environment you live in is warm this could be a product to consider due to its drying time.

Beauty Bloggers Utopia

Over the weekend I took park in the first Beauty Bloggers Utopia 2012 conference which brought together 30 Australian bloggers over a two day event filled with education, workshops, discussion and networking.

Day One -

It kicked off with an early breakfast at Guylian Cafe where Arnaud from Cosmetiques De France presented three great french brands - Bioderma, Nuxe, Uriage. I personally have in my makeup kit Bioderma - great makeup remover and cleanser, perfect for sensitive skin and Nuxe - natural dry skin oil, perfect for all year round skincare and stretch marks; they also have a shimmer version. It was fantastic to gain some real insight into the products and be introduced to Uriage Thermal Water a facial spray to help lock in and add moisture to dehydrated skin.

Then it was off to IMATS Sydney for shopping purposes, relax and network in the media lounge sponsored by Royal & Langnickel where they showcased their latest brush range in collaboration with makeup artist Kevin James Bennet. Refreshments, massages and manicures were also on offer. I think nearly all of us enjoyed a good massage and time to network.

I had the experience also of being a face model for Kevin's workshop on stage at IMATS where he used the new range of brushes from Royal & Langnickel. That was an interesting experience!

In the evening we were taken to see Legally Blonde the musical - a great girls night out and we even had a back stage tour and met some of the actors, amazing! This was courtesy of 'Lust Have It' the monthly beauty box subscription service.

Stephen Adderton from The Beauty Lounge in Rozelle, introduced his makeup range called Adderton. Range consist of mineral foundation, illuminator, lipstick, lip gloss, powders, mascara. His Skincare range will be available early 2013 - a range to watch!
Beauty Trivia - session with 4 rounds of beauty trivia. We all got al ittle competitive in a helping sort of way!! Prizes were to be won... Kimmi from The Plastic Diaries won and Stacey from AddtoCart was the runner up. Well done girls
Panel discussion chaired by the lovely Larah Kennedy with Hanna DeMilta from Rocket Media and Christine Butcher a successful author and who writes Hair Romance. Internet, social media and brand chat that was thoroughly insightful
Nair art workshop presented by Heather Snodgrass one half of Hello Darling Nail laquer. We got to try the new nail transfer range, so easy and fun with great designs, I loved the bows. If you have not tried this nail range, one word 'DO'
Lastly we had a great presentation by Lorraine Murphy who 4 months ago set up The Remarkables Group a dedicated agency for bloggers across multiple categories including more recently beauty. Lorraine gave insight into the world of blogging from and agency and brand pov, provided tips, insight and answered questions from members of the conference

The whole conference was great for me. I was a blogger from the UK, now living in Australia, so it was a perfect place for me to meet other influential beauty bloggers who mostly I had only met over internet; finally in person. I really learnt some great things which I now need to apply to my blog and have a greater understanding of what needs to be achieved personally as well as what others are looking for.

I'd like to say a big thank you to Sara-May from Makeup Utopia and Larah Kennedy for organising a great event, hope you both enjoyed your bubbles!! Also to all the sponsors involved for the products, refreshments, food and evening events and to the speakers for taking time out over your weekend to come and spend time with us. Magnifibres - Love your lashes

Being blonde, I have fair and rather fine lashes and along with my eyebrow envy, I am always looking at lash enhancement products that don't cost a bomb or require me to go to a salon every few weeks, as I like flexibility of changing my look. I saw that a makeup artist buddy of mine and who I have worked with in the past recently became the ambassador of the latest lash enhancement product to hit the UK; MAGNIFIBRES.

Of course me being me, I had to get my hands on this product and try it out and see how it compared to another product I have used in the past by Talika. I was kindly sent some to try and I am lucky enough to be the first in Australia to have it in my hands and showcase this simple but effective product.

After trialing Magnifibres for a couple of weeks or so it is definitely a winner with me; even my BF noticed straight away my lashes looked longer; with no hint or knowing I had applied the product. For a guy to notice I think that say alot about the product already.

I wanted to make sure it really continued to work but also ensure it is suitable for contact lens wearers. I wear contacts which can make using products like this a little difficult, as with other similar products I have tried in the past I have experienced the fibers dropping into my eyes and causing issues with my contact lenses, which is not nice believe me. I can truly say the fibers did not drop into my eyes or irritate once applied, I was admittedly being super careful and rather than the normal zig zag motion when applying mascara I stroked each lash with the fibers A few attached to my bottom lashes in the outer corner which was fine.

It comes in as pictured above in a pink and black tube (one over the top of another) with a quirky eye logo and the product sits inside.The inner tube provides you with the instructions in a simple and clear way and includes visuals. The actual product looks very similar to mascara, with a wand that holds the fine white fibers instead of mascara, but works in exactly the same way from an application point of view. It is super easy to use and its only takes 3 simple steps.

I would happily recommend this product, as you can see from the pics above, it really does provides me with fuller, longer lashes. If you have fine lashes and want added volume, this is a product to definitely consider and also for those lucky ladies with beautiful full lashes, great to further enhance what you already have easily. While I trialed Magnifibres I mainly used Bare Minerals volumising mascara, one coat each time. I have also used Rimmel and Maybelline mascaras and achieved the same effect. It was also very easy to remove using your normal eye makeup remover, I used L'Oreal eye make up remover. It is a time saver, reasonably priced and perfect for everyday use, a night out with the girls or a special occasion. Why not enhance your lashes - so easy and achieved in less than a minute!

Magnifibres is available via www.qvcuk.com and www.magnifibres.com rrp £20.00. I have been informed that it will be available in Selfridges soon and also in the USA and Australia in 2013 (dates tbc).

ClariSkin™ Laser Treatment

First off, sorry this is a text heavy post!

Tomorrow, 24/09/12 I am going for my first ever facial laser treatment called ClariSkin™.

I like many others have suffered with uneven skin tone, pigmentation and fine lines on my forehead and eye area - my happy lines(some people call them crows feet or smile lines)and not really suffering with but I have freckles, which I love.

Recently I was asked if I would like to receive a ClariSkin™ laser treatment and to be honest I jumped at the chance and immediately said yes and thank you. the excitement and thoughts were running around in my head of finally I can try laser and have something done about my pigmentation and uneven skin tone, but now that the appointment is tomorrow the nerves are kicking in slightly. I am seeing this as an added aid to my already bountiful skincare routine I am hoping it will improve my skin even more so and help rectify any damage - the word laser is really playing on my mind though!

I have been given of course more information to read in regards to the treatment and I wanted to share it with you, this is why this post is so text heavy.

So now all the questions have been answered I was instructed about the pre treament instructions that I had to follow for the last two weeks prior to the treatment.

1. Avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks before your treatment and use a sun block with a protection of SPF factor 30+ or greater when exposed to sunlight
2. Do not use self-tan or solarium's for at least two weeks before your treatment
3. Do not use any products containing AHA’s, BHA’s or glycolic’s for the duration of your treatment course
4. Please disclose if you have a light sensitivity as a result of medication you may be taking. e.g.; Ro-accutane
5. Please ensure that you remove any make-up in the areas being treated before your treatment
6. Some women may experience an exaggerated skin sensitivity prior to and during their menstruation

All pretty simple; I wear spf 30 everyday anyway so that was no biggy and I have although it has been a lovely sunny weekend this weekend kept my face out of the sun.

So at 4pm tomorrow its is tomorrow. I will be taking pre and post pictures and will be doing a follow up article on my experience. Stay tuned!

Last Thursday was a great night for fashion and beauty with Vogue Fashion Night Out (#vfno)taking place in multiple countries with lots of events, treats and showcases. Liptember 2012

I personaly had not heard of, until recently about the Liptember campaign. I actually wasn't living in Australia last September, and as far as I know the UK doesn't have this initative, I could be so wrong!

A campaign like this is a great way of communicating to a wider audience about a difficult topic. It is still extremely hard for people to discuss, due to a number of reasons - lack of understanding, knowledge, what form of depression a person may have and to be honest the person who has depression understanding themselves what they are going through.

Admit it we all know a woman, a friend, a family member, colleague who is dealing with some form of depression and from my own personal experience there are many many reasons people suffer from this.

Liptember campaign runs every September where the women of Australia are asked to show their support through a beauty initiative where you can purchase a lovely beauty product. This year the official lippy is from Burt's Bees with their Tinted Lip Balm in Rose - ingredients include shea butter, vit e, botanical flowers and of course beeswax.

Vogue Fashions Night Out #VFNO

It was Vogue Fashion Night Out #VFNO if you didn't know already which I have a inkling that you do and probably partook in it in some shape or form. This was my first one away from London so was interested in how it would look and the differences. I only had an hour and half or so out as I had to be elsewhere. I know how rude of me!

I started out at La Prairie at David Jones, where Kimberly from 'The Plastic Diaries' was tweeting on their behalf and running the trivia quiz they ran through the evening. While I was there I had a lovely caviar hand massage and also became one of the first treasure hunt winners which was nice. Then I moved onto Mulberry as an MUA I knew was working there doing Nail Rock manicures as I believe they were also doing in London. I opted for nice bit of bling and had gold to match their gold helium bag balloons, where as the Mulberry Ambassador (super lovely) went for an aqua look. Mulberry was great, lovely mani, bags and beverages perfect! I got there just in time as later on it was mayhem there.

I did a quick visit to Ralph Lauren, stopped by one of the red trouser Sydney hunks stations where you could enter to win a $10,000 wardrobe, had a quick boogie to DJ Damon Downey, popped into Zara and Benefit where I picked up a new 'They're real Mascara'. I then quick stepped on down to Shopbop and beautiful Tiffany & Co; so adore that store. Had a few more drinks, chin wags and admired some, not all of the beautiful wares in the building and then it was just a hop and skip to Martins Place, where I managed to catch the last few moments of Sara De Bono performing at the MLC centre, she looked fab through the gap I managed to peer through.

At Martins Place there was a dance troop, dj's, music, food and drink although no Chanel vending machine like there was in Covent Garden in London but there was an ASOS van with treats, Sarah Murdoch having a Vogue temporary tattoo done as did Miranda Kerr who was also there posing for pics, doing meet and greets with her adoring fans - I mean obsessed fans! as the guy next to me I think was going to pass out he was so overwhelmed at how close he was to her....bless and REALLY!! She was there of course with her organic beauty brand Kora.

Then it was time for me to go, it was a nice couple of hours although a bit rushed and I know I missed loads but the bits is did see, be part of and munched on (popcorn and yummy canapes) I enjoyed. Hope those of you who also went or were part of it had a great time and ventured to stores you would not normally go to and discovered new things. On Sunday (2/9/12) I went along to the Illamasqua workshop held at Myer, Sydney where key makeup artist Mikele Simone and Frances Cutri demonstrated and shared with the attendees products with tips n' tricks that will help achieve a flawless daytime look. Mikele then knocked it up a level showing how you can create a evening/going out look with not to many products weighing down your bag. Illamasqua will be holding another workshop at Myer Sydney in the next month showing you more avant-garde looks for those who love pure artist creativity!

Burt's and the Bee's

Finally spring is here in Australia and I have to say it still gets damn chilly here early doors; my hands feel it like anything. I even sometimes contemplate putting gloves on!

I was given this Burt's Bees Banana & Beeswax hand creme back in the warmers days of my first arrival here in Australia from the UK, but did not embark on using it until the cold weather came to these shores. At the time of my arrival here I was using Palmers hand cream, so I placed it with the rest of my hoarding of products. Then the day came - it was picked!

This jar of hand creme has got me definitely helped me through the winter months here, my hands really needed some love and comfort if that makes sense. You must never forget your hands or feet, well anywhere really, your skin needs to be cared for just like you do.

Smell wise I have to say not may favorite but you kind of get used to it and it wares of in minutes. The product its self is thick and rich in consistency so you dont need a lot at all. Once rubbed in, a slight glow can be seen on your hands which again subsides after a few moments as your skin absorbs the product. Ingredients wise its full of natural goodness with natural beeswax helping provide a protective layer for the skin, aloe vera, vit E, sweet almond oil and fruit extracts providing you with natural lubricant and moisture your hands, feet need through the cold days and the warmer ones when your skin is dehydrated. I actually have started using it on my lips ... have to say works a treat!

As the jar is a bit large to have in the hand bag I actually dispensed it into a smaller jar to carry in my bag, so no dry hand syndrome here. It retails at $19.95/£9.99 2oz 57g jar, great value as it will last you months and definitely see you through the seasons.

Illamasqua Australia Needs YOU!

UPDATE 30/8/12 - WE WON!!! Illamasqua has published a press release stating that as of September 1st 2012 that they will be DROPPING their prices here in Australia, bringing them into line of those in the UK. Thank you to all who signed the petition to help this change and thank you to Illamasqua and Myer.

A couple of weeks ago I posted about the 'Fight for Fair Beauty Price' that cult and independent British makeup brand Illamasqua had decided to take on, in order to make a change for us beauty lovers here in Australia.

If you didn't see my post or others or not even heard about the campaign, where have you been? Australians, men and women pay up to 61% more in some cases for products compared to the likes of the UK. I am from the UK and feel the price impact everyday from my move here. Well you now have until the 24th August to be part of this movement! Need encouragement here is a simple example of the price difference.

Did you know that an Illamasqua nail polish in the UK is £13.50, here in Australia it is $34.00 - same size, same packaging, mad isn't it! Using a regular online exchange site not taking into account taxes etc £13.50 equates to $20.25, that in the most simple terms is $13.75, basically you could buy two in the UK and still have some change!

This is my very first FOTD as I don't normally show my face to the world! However I am doing this as I am hoping to get a wildcard to Beauty Blogger Utopia Conference in September.

This was actually done last night when I realised the deadline was midday today. I went into a panic after I realised also my camera had funnily enough decided to take a holiday; so I've had to use my mobile phone camera which is not the best so apologies for the quality. Was up all hours trying to figure what had happened so all a bit mad to be honest but we were not allowed to use any filters, image editers etc anyway... phew!

I decided to do just a pop of colour on the lips and keep everything fresh, simple, and everyday look. I am absolutely loving the coral, peach and orange hues that have been around for the last year and are clearly staying around to. They have become a firm favorite with me, especially when the weather is dull; a good pop of colour always cheers me up!

What I used:

Moisturised and primed with Embryolisse Laite Creme Concentrate
Base I actually used i-conceal by New CID Cosmetics in medium
Illuminator - I have a hint and I mean a hint of Becca Cosmetics Opal just on the top of my cheek bones
Powder - a slight dusting of invisible loose powder by Laura Mercier through t-zone

Eyes
Eye shadow - Mac cosmetics in taupe and vanilla
Brows - Mac cosmetics taupe, just a light application with an angled brow brush by Crown Brushes
Lashes - Maybelline Volum Express Mascara 'Falsies' black
Inner eye - Illamasqua eye liner in Vow on the inner eye, this is lovely, so soft a great natural colour to take the redness out and brighten inner eye area

Target and MAC Cosmetics

The other week; twitter, facebook and other forums were full of questions around MAC Cosmetics being available at Target. A number of questions were circulating. Are these authentic MAC products, is Target and authorised retailer now of the brand? where have these products come from?

You will have seen a few people asking MAC for a response. I was one of those people and I personally knew what they would state back to me in regard to Target. I have today received an official response from MAC Cosmetics comms team via email and it was as I thought! See below

'MAC products are only distributed for sale at our authorised retail store accounts, or at our free-standing stores. Products purchased at one of our authorised accounts are genuine MAC merchandise of recent production. In addition, consumers can feel confident when they are serviced by one of our trained representatives, who are familiar with our product line. Target is not one of our accounts, and we therefore have no way of knowing how they obtained our products.'

The products in Target stores and online may be authentic MAC Cosmetics products but you can not be sure so I would personally take the side of caution and check the batch numbers where possible. When I visited Targets online store I noticed that the products they did have are actually a good few seasons old so you will not be purchasing current MAC stock. I still actually have to see them physically but I certainly wont be buying from Target even though they have them at a very good price. I react easily like many people so knowing the product is 100% authentic via an authorised retailer is important to me especially after an ebay incident! I never buy cosmetics of ebay/grey market sites now because of a similar situation.

Update 17/8 - Please see The Beaute Buzz where Lisa has a comment from Target. Target is sourcing via a Melbourne based supplier, at this time I personally can not be sure if that is an authorised supplier.

Rae Morris Brushes - Kabuki

So here I was at the Sydney Spa and Beauty Expo having a great time training, meeting other bloggers, makeup artists sharing stories and the love of certain products. One of these was the ever so highly talked about and wanted makeup brushes that Rae Morris launched last year after 2 years in development. There have been many blogs, makeup artist including the lovely Wayne Goss aka @gossmakeupartist telling us how great they are and what a must have they are. I first saw them in real life at an event Rae did a while ago and loved the feel of them, the fact they were cruelty free and had recycled bamboo handles was cool and the rest of the room definitely felt the same, noticeably impressed in fact.

They had 10% off at the expo - temptation became even stronger. I had been deliberating for a while on purchasing some especially since I was introduced to them and wondered whether it was just hype or were they actually as good as Rae and others were telling us. Its her product so of course she will be saying amazing things like anyone does who believes in a product. I took some time re-looked and after some chats with myself I bought the kabuki brush, well both of them.

Why did I opt for the kabuki over the highly talked about and loved Radiance brush ($85)?
1. Recommendations from other artists
2. Price even with the given 10% off at the expo I couldn't do it, I felt sick not doing it but I had to stop myself from spending money and getting carried away
3. I actually needed a new one and it was affordable plus a good way to see if they live up to the hype

In general the kabuki brush is a good multi-purpose brush and actually having the two sizes is great. The Deluxe Kabuki no.1 rrp $29.95 is perfect for larger areas, so the cheeks when applying blusher and with its tapered end you can apply a small amount of colour and light coverage or apply a little more pressure for more depth so great for contouring. Love this for contouring particularly. The Mini Kabuki no.2 rrp $19.60 brush is great for highlighting and those smaller areas on the face and I have taken to using it for powdering the eyelid area prior to applying colour. Its the perfect shape. I have not experienced any fall out like some others have reported.

I do however need to use them a bit more and will look to do an update, however for now I am pleased with my decision from the brush collection. Maybe at IMATS if they are there I will look to purchase the Radiance! Want to see the whole collection visit www.raemorris.com

Fight the fight for fair beauty - Illamasqua Style

I am sure many of you have seen the facebook, twitter (#fightforafairbeautyprice) and blog posts from Breakfast with Audrey, The Plastic Diaries and more, I have done some along with fellow beauty lovers here in Australia and beyond. We really do need you to get your fingers out and fill in the petition and save us from this disgraceful pricing and tax issue we have on beauty good here in Australia.

I moved here just over 10 months ago and was told prior to coming to Sydney that I would see a massive hike in prices for your everyday beauty goods. The realisation hit me even more when I could order some beauty products from the UK, have them shipped here and it was still cheaper than what it would of been if I had bought them here!

Now we have the great independent UK cosmetic brand Illamasqua taking the bull by the horns by initiating some action on this. It is hurting brands too but not as much as it hurts everyday beauty shoppers here in Australia. I personally shop unfortunately for Australia in the UK or US for beauty products, unless I am completely desperate; I also ask friends to send products out to me or have anyone going back to the UK bring me things back, normally a long list of things - I/we shouldn't have to do this. In The Plastic Diaries you will see that Kimberly has highlighted products by Illamasqua and the cost across the UK, US and Australia.... its a BIG problem!!

We need your support, no matter what country you are from support us and Illamasqua. We hope other brands will follow suit and I say 'lets march' for our fellow beauty lovers, equal rights, equal price and create a world of fair priced beauty!

Hello Kitty and Superdrug

It's a bit early, however I am already excited about these 8 Hello Kitty nail varnishes launching exclusively to Superdrug in October. How cute are they? Loving the kitty shaped bottles and fab bright colours. They will retail at £4.99. I have already put a request in with my bestie back in the UK to grab them when launched. x
