Pin Curls Attempt 1, FOTD, OOTD

So if you subscribe to my you tube channel you will have seen my mini whinge a few months back about my hair and the issues that I had been having with it.
In a nutshell I went bald on both sides of my head and had a few bald patches dotted across my head. My problem at that time was that I was suffering quite alot of breakage even though my hair was growing back.
But that's another story that I will go into greater depth in a video perhaps, haven't quite decided as yet.
Anyhow I wanted to show my results when I did "pin curls" - still not sure if I did it right though, but I did like the results I got.

Using GHDs I curled individual sections

and pinned whilst still hot

I did this in fairly large sections as I wanted a loose curl

I combed it thru with a paddle brush, for a uniformed curl.

Just like it says in the title...lol I have been dying to do one of these videos but kept forgetting to film. Yup I'm getting old, ah well such is life. I used my new BH Cosmetics palettes, that I just had to have as I had seen them used in so many videos, and I must say I am really enjoying it definitely something I will be reviewing in the future after I have used them for a longer period of time and can give an honest review.

I'm sure that you know by now that I usually do videos to go along with these recreations, but unfortunately I had a slight ummmm accident and deleted the eyeshadow application:-(( I was obviously having a bit of an off day when I originally downloaded it....I know cry me a river. Anyhow I really didnt want to skip this look as I felt that blues would work really well on darker skin and thought you might like to see my interpretation, even if they are simply images of the final look. Also I really wanted you to see how pigmented the FashionistA eyeshadows were from my last review. X

FashionistA Eyeshadow & Palette Review

As you know I attended TOWIB a few weeks back and whilst there, we were shown some key looks from FashionistA. If you have never heard of them they are a relatively new brand who are available in your local Superdrug or online. After all of the demonstration displays I decided that I was most interested in the blue look (below).

Mainly due to the vibrancy of the colours on the model and also because it reminded me of the Andrew Gallimore look for Dior in Harrods A/W "A Study of Colour" and I knew then that this was the palette for that video.

The packaging

Now I have not been able to find FashionistA in either of my two local Superdrugs, so I cannot verify if it comes with this lovely red bag or not ;-)

the palette

It does however come in a gorgeous black box which reflects the brands image very well, very black and very chic. Now when you receive your shadows, either in the post or in store you will receive them in seperate pots/containers. If you wish to have them in a palette as I have above the you will need to purchase this seperately too complete the look.

I must say that when I realised that they were all separate I did have a mini panic attack thinking that they could possibly be like inglots shadows and that I might scratch/dent them when removing from one pot to another. My panic however was ill founded as it turned out as the shadows pop out and in as smooth as clockwork.

The Swatches

When it comes to eyeshadows I'm always overly wary of the colours they appear to be in the palette and the colour they actually turn out to be on my skin. But when it comes to FashionistA they are true to their appearance for those of us with that killer tan.

I found the shadows to be very blendable and they were a dream to work with on my upcoming Harrods video ;-) Totally looking forward to getting my hands on a few more of their products for winter.

Pedi Pistol Professional

Ok so I went to TK Maxx, you may not know but i am always there checking to see the latest beauty deals they have in. Boy have I been able to pick a bucket load of goodies. All of which I have yet to review (but thats another story), on Monday I came across the Pedi Pistol Professional and after 30mins of pondering over its £9.99 price tag....I took the plunge.

Initially I was worried that as it was battery operated it would not be able to generate enough power to rectify my badly maintained "pidders" would require - It is at this point that I advise you I have been unable to have a pedicure for just under 5 month, shock shock horror, I know but there was just no time and most definitely no money.

But anyhow, if any of you have seen the pedi pistol it is easy to become intimidated by the sheer length of the pistol, which i think was a huge mistake as i like to get up close and personal and this prevents this. Well needless to say I spent an hour of my morning going ooooh aaah and smiling inwardly to myself as my masterpiece unfolded.

Seriously I was totally blown away with the swiftness and ease at which the "pedi pistol" removed ridges from my nails, pushed back my cuticles and gave my nails a smother more well groomed appearance. Honestly words could not express my happiness, my poor toes have not seen the light of day for such a long period it really was a shame. I was so impressed i even showed my partner my toes (seeing as he hadn't seen them in about 8 mths...) here I was raving away at how beautiful and smooth they are hahaha. It was definitely a wonderful feeling if I must say so myself and definitely worth the £9.99 investment.

Harrods Magazine - A Study of Colour (Pat McGrath for Dolce & Gabbana)

This is the first in the "Eight Key Looks For AW 11"
For this Harrods had 8 international cosmetics collections used 8 make up maestros to determine these looks.

Starting off with Pat McGrath for Dolce and Gabbana.

I was unable to find the image from the Harrods magazine online, however I was able to find the Dolce & Gabbana advert.

My Interpretation

If you wish to go for a bolder stronger lip, line your lips with a red pencil first and then apply the lipstick over the top for that added bang.

TOWIB Pt 2

Though my time at TOWIB started off a bit shakily I was soon brought to a calm and relaxing place when FashionistA mua Katie Hughes started their demonstrations.

Can I just say WOW I instantly fell in love with the blue palette, because all I could think of was the Andrew Gallimore look I am about to do for Harrods Beauty "A study of Colour". The colours in that palette are absolutely perfect for this, I am going to be filming the video for that tomorrow so I will keep you posted. During this demonstration I was most interested in how Katie used their eyeliner pots as a base and how this really allowed the colours to pop.

Here is a sneak peek at how pigmented the colours were on darker skin.

As a whole I was very impressed with the products that they had on display and the way in which the make up artists from both brands conducted their demonstrations, offering up useful tips and tricks along the way.

My First Time - TOWIB

So I attendend my first ever blogger event and boy was I nervous, absolutely ridiculous I know but I cant stand unfamiliar situations. To the extent that I almost chickened out just around the corner - but I spotted a Starbucks and my mocha frappuccino with extra shots of espresso in it did the trick for me :-)

I was asked by Karla Powell to be the model for VIVO cosmetics 'Eyes of Gold', I absolutely adored this look especially with my outfit.

Of course this was the set that I opted for, as I found the colours to be beautifully pigmented and the really showed up well on my skin tone. Now if only I could find them in my local Tesco my life would be complete.

Forgive me Father...

You could imagine my sheer joy when I started browsing them and realised the amazing beauty stories and trend predictions they had. Light Summer Foundation

In the heat I find it best for me not to wear too much foundation as my skin becomes very oily in the sun and it just slides right off. So here I show you how I use Illamasqua concealer, MAC Surf Baby Bronzer and Prestige Bronzer to create a much lighter, dewy finish with just as much coverage.

Spring/Summer nails

There are so many colours in "favour" for s/s but so far these are what I have chosen to collect. This week my nails are painted as below. My attempt at a watermelon nails.

Omg I am so obsessed with this mint green you would not believe. It's only downfall is that you have to double up on coats, but that's not a problem where I'm concerned.

Over all of my nail polishes I use seche vite, I find that it dries super quick and helps my polishes survive my day to day schedule.
