I have only been flipping domains for under a year now, and have made a nice (although not anything to brag about, amount of money... Basically averaging on $20 profit per domain name. Now I know that is not alot of money, but the other online business' I have tried have produced no money at all. Maybe I was just not born to be an affiliate or produce my own products, however domain flipping is so simple... Anyone can do it.

If you sell 100 domain names over a period of 2 - 3 months your would have a nice stash of cash to blow on what ever you want. I might not be able to quit my full time job, however I can at least spoil myself on the odd occassion. Another great thing about flipping domains, is the amount of ease it takes... Now I am not gonna give you some B.S. story, and tell you I was making the money on my very first domain flip. I actually made a loss of just over $3 on my first 5 domain flips. Reading into that should show you that, yes it is possible to make a loss, however, your loss will not very very high. I have, however, lost about $20 on other flips, but the profits I make on the rest of the flips I do, totally outweigh the losses.

If you are just beginning to flip domains, I urge you to read forums and other blogs on the subject of domain flipping. Forums and blogs help me very much in avoiding making those losses now. Although domain flipping can be simple you should at least put an hour or 2 away to keep learning. Trust me... You will learn loads.

At the end of the day, don't ever think you can just go buy domain names, flip it, and make money. If domain flipping worked like that, we would all be welathy. In conclusion, domain flipping will not make you rich overnight, or in a month, or even maybe a year, but you can earn a little extra to do whatever you please.

If you are interested in becoming a domainer, and interested in flipping domain names, here are some vital steps that you should follow:

Point 1:

If you own a number of domain names, you need to track them, as well as keep good records. Draw up a spreadsheet indicating:

Your domain name;
Date your domain name expires;
If you have sold your domain name, how much did you sell it for?

There are other colums that you might want to add to your spreadsheet, but you get the idea. Keeping track of your domain names is vital if you want to become a successful domainer.

Point 2:

Instead of buying 100 domain names, rather buy 10 quality domain names. Your odds of selling 10 quality domain names to 100 average domain names are much higher, therefore you can expect a greater profit margin.

Point 3:

Another way to increase profits on your domain name is to develop your domain name. Build a website or blog for that domain name and you could possibly triple your profit.

Hi everyone.

I just read an interesting blog post...

Every domainer tells you to use the .com extension when looking for domain names to flip, as everyone recognises it, and it is most commonly used. But as we all know most good .com domain names are taken.

Well how is this for interesting reading...

Lisbon.net sold for a staggering $32,000. Yes, you read right. Now I still recommend flipping .com domain names, as they definately sell more than any other extension, and you will probably get much more money for .com, however other extensions will definately be coming into play in the future.

Domain Flipping Jargon - What Do Some Of These Words Mean?

Hi everyone.

Sorry that I haven't posted for awhile... I have been on holiday and relaxing, but I am back now.

While I was away, I received a few emails requesting the meanings of some of the words (jargon) that people use when domain flipping. Here are meanings for all the words or abreviations that were requested via email:

Domaining:

The buying and selling of domain names.

Whois:

This is a protocol that gives you information and details on the owner of a domain name.

Domain Parking:

This is where you park domain names you own, at marketplaces, like Sedo.com. This allows you to earn an income while your domain name is parked there, as they add advertisements to a page for keywords that you choose for your domain name. You can also see what kind of traffic you domain name is getting.

Type In Traffic:

This is when a internet user types in the name followed by .com, .net, etc. into the browser window.

TLD:

This stands for Top Level Domain, which is the last part of the domain name like .com, .net, etc.

ccTLD:

This is the Country Code Top Level Domain like like .co.uk, co.au, etc.

I cannot emphasise how easy domain flipping is. Out of all the other online business; I started, domain flipping is by fa the easiest. Here is a table I have quickly drawn up, showing the differences between domain flipping and another easy online business known as affilite marketing.

Start up costs are low. You can get started for under $10, inclduding purchasing a domain name and ebay fees.	Purchasing programs can cost you anywhere over $50, and you still need to advertise you products which can run into $100's.
Simple to do. You purchase a domain name, list it, and then get paid.	You will have to do rearsch on a specific nichewhich can take days. You then need to purchase a domain name and a hosting account, set up a website, and then market the website and hope hordes of traffic come flooding in.
Takes 1 hour per day and you don't hve to work everyday.	Takes several days to set up, and then you have to keep tweaking and refinding... Oh and market, market, market!
Percentage of losing money is minimal. If you do not sell a domain name you lose under $10.	Percentage of losing money is much more higher. You need to pay for a domain name, hosting. If you do not know how to design a successful website with great cotent, you will need to hire a webdesigner and ghostwriter. You can expect to lose $100's.

Just to let you know that I have compiled the above table for a person who is only starting out with making money online. There are people who know what affiliate marketing involves and are experts at it, and therefore affiliate marketing can make you loads of cash.

Just a quick note to let you know, that if you think domain flipping will fade away eventually, you are very wrong. Domain flipping has been around for years, and is now only starting to be recognised as a viable online business. Domain flipping will only get stronger with time. More and More businesses are seeing the impact the world wide web is playing, and therefore domain names will always be in demand.

Definition of domain flipping

Domain flipping entails finding expired domain names, purchasing them ,and then auctioning or selling them for a profit.

I know what you are thinking… Here is another affiliate trying to sell another crappy eBook / guide / membership site, to make money. I don’t expect you to buy anything from me, but when I find something that blows me away, I feel it my duty to share it with people.

But first let me tell you about my experiences with my numerous online businesses I have started. I have been trying to find a viable online business since June 2002, when I left my job hoping to “Make A Million Dollars In 90 Days”. You always read about this and that “guru” making so much money, and that they will teach you everything they know to help you reach your income goals. So I thought… “Hey, let’s give this a try…”

Yes that was the stupidest thing I have ever done, and luckily I was offered my previous job back in January 2003. I decided to still pursue making it big with an online business, but this time while I had a full time job to support my needs.

Now as you can imagine, I never made any sort of income that I was hoping to make… or that the “guru’s” promised. Never mind about the 1,000’s I spent buying these eBooks, tutorials, DVD’s, etc… You name it, I bought it. For interest sake, I think I made about $128 in my first 5 years online. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

So believe me, when I mention a good product, it has to have the following characteristics:

Step-by step instructions, and when I mean step-by-step, I really mean step-by-step. You actually shown everything you need to do.

There must be video tutorials explaining everything. I am not the brightest of blokes, and prefer watching DVD’s than reading, so it is a BIG MUST.

There must be no over inflated earning promises. I might not be the brightest oke in the world, but I have now learnt that you cannot make a million dollars in one year if you are a newbie online. Don’t get me wrong… I think it is very possible to earn that much per year, but if you are new and you are like me, it might take at least 5 – 10 years of hard, hard , hard work, before you see that type of money. And from buying the products that stated “Make 1,000,000 Dollars In 30 Days”, you actually just got junk. A hard lesson to learn, but a lesson learnt indeed…

It must take between 1 – 2 hours per day to do. I still have my full time job, and plan to keep it until I have made my first 1,000,000. ;-)

I received an email last week, about a product to do with virtual real estate, and as I read the email, I got more and more interested. I have always wanted to own residential property, fix it up and sell it for a profit, but at this stage I do not have the necessary funds to do that. Anyway, this email went on about domain flipping (same as property flipping basically). If you are not sure what domain flipping is, read my previous post. I had a look at the sales page, and it got me interested, so yes you guessed it… I purchased the product. At first I thought, what am I doing… I know I am going to ask for a refund because this will just be one of “those products”.

But I was wrong. To date I have never seen anything like this guide. It had the abovementioned characteristics, and was easy to read. I started it straight away. To be honest I was blown away.
