3 Effective Tips to Get More Followers on Pinterest MBG

With so much talk about Pinterest being great source of traffic and all, it’s almost becoming old news even though it hasn’t been a year since it became known widely. We now can say for certain that this not so new social network is definitely worth exploring and that pins, repins, likes and shares can be very useful for any website and brand that knows how to pinterest (yes, it’s can be a verb too). And today we’re going to look into some effective ways to get followers on Pinterest so that you get an unlimited ability to reach many others.

1. Organize your boards

Your boards are the first thing people will look – make them well organized, so that they make sense. Rearrange them and if necessary break them up into smaller topics if the original one was too broad; it will make them more user-friendly for both you and your followers. Many people on Pinterest tend to follow individual boards rather than following people (and all their boards), so you should offer more boards on different topics to cover more different interests.

Each board should have a unique name; and while it’s all right to give them catchy names, they should be understandable so that people who see them know what they are about. Also, try to integrate some key phrases into your board names or your pin captions, because other users often search the site for interesting phrases in order to find new content. At the same time, don’t do with captions like “This is great!” – this provides no information about your pins, and people are likely to skip yours in their search.

Always keep in mind that Pinterest is a visually-focused site where people are after nice looking images. Therefore your images should be of good quality for Pinterest bookmarklet to capture them.

2. Use your blog or website

There are other places where you can find people willing to follow you on Pinterest besides Pinterest itself. Synchronizing your Pinterest profile with profiles on other socil networks like Facebook or Twitter is a great way to notify your existing fans and followers about your Pinterest activities, but you can also use your blog to do it, and it can be very effective.

Sometimes it’s enough just to integrate Pinterest buttons into your blog, but you can be as creative with this as you want. You can organize contests and takeaways that include new pins out of your blog posts: they should create a separate board where they would pin your content, and if the prize is attractive enough, you can even encourage people who don’t have a Pinterest profile yet, to create one just to enter your contest. Or, you can create a board around your blog post to further illustrate it: if you’ve written a new post about treating your dog for fleas, create a Pinterest board where you can visually represent the process. And don’t forget to link to your board from the blog post; actually, whenever you mention Pinterest in your posts, you can link not to the home page but to your own profile.

3. Leverage popular topics

We already know that people are searching Pinterest for the phrases that interest them. If you’re among the first ones to pin an image that has something to do with a popular story, not only the ones following you, but likely many others who search for that topic will share your pin further. To stay at the top of the trends, follow places like StumbleUpon and pin directly from them, or even better, create a blog post on your website and pin it. Remember to use #hashtags and relevant keywords when describing your pin, so that people can find it easily.

Finally, be a good sport and don’t spam, and give your viewers a good reason to continue to follow you. Avoid being too self-promotional, pin other stuff than yours, participate in the community in a good way. This is all just common sense advice, but you’d be surprised to learn just how often simple things work best.

There are a lot of people out there who rather ‘bash’ Google and accuse them of all kinds of wrong doing on the net. Personally I don’t fall into that category, and while I might not like all of their decisions I do at least recognize that it’s their prerogative to do with their search engines as they please, and that they don’t necessarily need to make pleasing me their number one priority…

But despite this I do think it’s a problem when people seem to base their every decision on what Google is doing, and when they seem to almost fear Google and look to them as their online masters.

The problem is that Google is by far the number one search engine, and that means that SEO basically means designing sites and off-site strategies so that they will work with Google’s latest algorithm changes. At the moment it seems that if Google says jump, webmasters say ‘how high’ and there’s definitely something wrong with this…

What Can We Do?

The solution is first of all to stop worrying about every little change Google makes. This is something that Google recommend themselves saying to concentrate more on good quality content rather than focussing on there minor changes. All of Google’s changes have the singular aim of ensuring they bring up the best and most relevant results for visitors. This then means that if you have a well designed website with good quality content, well then Google is going to be working with you rather than against you. And if your site is going to be a huge success, then minor changes to your ranking aren’t going to have too much of an impact on your success in the long term. Try to rise above it a little and keep an interested watch but don’t worry too much.

Meanwhile we need to be thinking about other ways to promote our websites. This means for instance through social networking, and it means through things like a mailing list. A mailing list is an immensely powerful tool, and if you have thousands of people on your list who are genuinely reading and clicking what you’re sending them, well then you don’t really need Google that much.

You should also start thinking less about volume of traffic and more about quality, and about your monetization. If you can make enough money from each visitor to your site then you won’t need to have thousands of hits a day and as such you won’t need to get to the number one spot. Think about how you can make your site more potent and improve your business model – because to be honest having just Google AdSense on your page is rather old hat. At the same time having just Google AdSense is only going to give Google yet another hold over you which will mean that you end up catering to them even more. Consider other ad networks, sell products and get some advertiser who will pay you directly – you’ll get a bigger cut too.

The big problem ultimately though is that there is no competition for Google, and while you aren’t going to launch a new search engine unless you have billions of capital and the brain of a coding genius, then you can do your bit by considering using another search engine from time to time. Enough people do it and eventually we can bring back some competition in search.

I am Vadim, working with Wisdek; a Toronto based SEO company. I believe that most of Google’s recent changes are good for the industry as they will affect companies using spammytech.

There’s been a lot of, shall we say “discussion” – we could say hysteria – about “original content” on the web since roughly this time last year. Google gave a fair few low quality websites a bit of black eye with its Panda update, while those article directories, jam packed full of poor quality content are increasingly hard to find, even if you Google their names. This has been great for a lot of copywriters and content providers who can produce quality work, in fact it has provided a bit of a feeding frenzy. But does original quality content always matter, what is ‘quality’ and does every site need a blog that’s updated every five minutes, along with Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr content galore? Perhaps not.

Simple Surfers

Don’t get me wrong here, I like quality content. I like to read well written, researched, informative and useful stuff. But I don’t always care, as a consumer, whether a site has quality content or not. It depends on what I’m up to on the web, as to the type of content I’m interested in. In most cases if I’m purchasing stuff it’ll fall into one of the following categories; a book, a pen, walking boots/clothing, music or, bizarrely, building supplies. In nearly all of those cases the stuff I’m looking for will have a specific name and/or brand. If I want them cheap, I’ll head for Amazon or Ebay, although I might have a quick Google on a couple of other sites. Do I care about quality original content in these cases? Not a lot. Generally, I’m looking for secure purchasing, a bit of money off and fast but free delivery. I’m unlikely to go reading the blogs or other added extras.

Information Super Highways & Byways

However, there is another sort of surfing. This is where a bit of drive by advertising might well get my attention. This is where quality counts, for me at least. As an example, I get my news fix from the BBC, but on more than one occasion that has led me off to other sites. For more general information I might start with the ever-highly-ranked “Wikipedia”. Recently, though, I’ve found the “quality vs quantity” balance here is heading in the favour of the latter. Yes, Wiki is interesting, but increasingly wrong or misleading. Strange that this should be the case as Google’s Panda should be targeting poor quality stuff and in some cases Wiki articles should be on page ten along with many of those article directories.

Internet Translation

So how does this translate into the cut and thrust of the internet sales world and SEO strategy? Quality content is useful on many sites, it should be there if only to attract the search engines. But it can make a difference what type of products you are marketing? If it’s a fairly straightforward niche product, customers are likely to be searching for a very specific term, or even shopping in very specific places. Sometimes this means that knowing your customer base is better than knowing all the SEO tricks in the book. Sometimes, with the right keywords, you can be sure that people are looking to buy, not be entertained.

A Fence with a View

I’ll admit I’m on the fence with this argument, really. Sometimes the fence is a good place to be – you get a good view of both sides of an argument. I think most sites do need quality content, but not necessarily the equivalent of War and Peace in terms of amounts. Sometimes high quality, from a consumer’s point of view, can come in the smallest of packages. It can be worth considering what your customer’s are likely to need from your site, what you’re selling, and do you really need to write a novel about it just for the sake of Google.

An SEO strategy needs to take account of your product, customers and search engine needs. Sometimes, in the world of the SEO copywriter, less is more. An excellent copywriting company will be able to tell you when ‘nuff said’ applies.

Creating a website is an excellent hobby. Whether or not you do it simply for entertainment and also amusement or if you would love to pursue a career in journalism, writing a blog provides a lot of benefits. While it might appear as though almost everyone has a blog and you might not know where to start, establishing a blog is usually really simple and self-explanatory!

Firstly you will need to determine is whether or not you would prefer to have a blog hosted for free or to host the blog yourself. There are pros and cons for both choices. A free hosted blog means you do not have to pay but you receive less freedom to modify the style and less memory to store photos and documents online. Hosting the site yourself involves more work and you have to buy an Internet domain and some web hosting but it might be well worth it if you would like personalize your blog with increased creative independence. Lots of bloggers start out with free blogs and after that move to hosting it. This is a fantastic strategy to find out what blogging is actually about and if you enjoy keeping a blog before being required to part with any money.

The next thing is to think about what exactly you want to publish. This can seem like a stupid question but it is really important and will have a big effect on how your blog evolves as time passes. If it is a private blog then you will most likely post about day and what you do etc. Blogs like this can be interesting to read but they might also sometimes be difficult to get well-known as most people online are searching particularly for something. A good principle to stick to though is to put your blog within a particular topic area and stick to that topic. This can be on anything you want it to be – movies, television, sports, cooking and such like. What is important is to pick an area that you are interested in and can maintain a level of interest. By picking a topic you will help on three different levels. Firstly, visitors will know what it is about when they come to your site. Secondly, you will find that your blog has a place in a network of already established blogs that gives a greater feeling of community. Lastly, this should help your website get found by search engines as they can understand your blog better if it has a strong identity. This correlates to more traffic.

The next thing you need to decide on is how you are going to write posts. Will they be funny, serious or political? You might want to write each post differently and really show your personality or stick to a specific style, the choice is really up to you. It is important to show your personality though – this is what makes visitors like your posts and return. Other things to consider are pictures, sound clips and videos. These can add more content to your blog. If you are writing about a movie, why not feature a video for the trailer? Furthermore, if you are referring to a sight you have been to, take a few pictures and include them in your post. It will help make the website a lot more exciting.

The next thing people may possibly want to look at is becoming traffic for your blog. This can be accomplished with several techniques. Overtime, your website should gradually experience a rise in page views if you can write often along with good content. Having said that, there are techniques to get more visitors. You can easily pay for advertisements on sites and search engines or try to list your site higher in search engines. This is known as SEO (or Search Engine Optimization). Search engines have elaborate algorithms to determine how pertinent your site is to specific search terms. The more relevant your website, the higher the position you will get in search results. One of the vital techniques search engines rank websites is by the quantity of high quality, in-bound, one-way links. You can acquire these by writing content for article websites, presenting your site to Internet directories and utilizing a social bookmark submitter to get back links. You can also target certain keywords with these back links to get more benefit.

It is additionally important to become part of the blogosphere. Writing a blog is a great deal more fulfilling when you feel you belong to a community and can engage with others. It is also a good idea to leave comments and send emails to other blog owners in the same topic as you. It’s also a good idea to bookmark blogs you visit frequently. Save your bookmarks with a bookmark manager and you will be able to navigate the blogosphere much more efficiently.

Affiliate marketing has become one of the most efficient ways to advertise online. If you own a website this is one of the fastest ways to earn additional money online. Affiliate Marketing is an authority concerning a merchant and a website owner. The website owner, or the affiliate, allows the usage of their own website for the marketing of the retailer’s products by linking to the merchant’s internet site.

In exchange, the vendor pays off a percentage to the affiliate marketer on all sales produced by the affiliate. Each time an individual clicks on the link on the affiliate marketer website and then continues to make a sale, the affiliate marketer gets a monetary fee. The product owner will compensate the affiliate marketer merely when a client clicks on the product website link and generates a purchase.

Affiliate marketing programs are referred to as a win-win situation for equally the vendor and the affiliate because of the pay-for-performance scheme. At the same time the vendor and the affiliate enjoy certain benefits in web marketing. Right now there are many benefits on the retailer’s side. It gives the vendor a broader marketplace in which to advertise a product or service.

Internet affiliate marketing can offer the product or service the highest possible exposure that it may possibly not acquire utilizing various other traditional promotional techniques. The added affiliate online sites a product owner carries, the higher the targeted traffic, which inturn can translate to revenue. The affiliate may crank out income by having an ad or hyperlink to the merchant’s business site, which prospective prospects will hopefully just click and proceed to produce a purchase.

The instant the prospect clicks on the advertisement on the affiliate marketer’s site, they usually are rerouted to the product owner’s web site and proceeds on to acquire that targeted product, the affiliate gets a percentage. The further referrals there are the more revenue for the affiliate.

If you are considering having a work at home profession then affiliate marketing is an excellent option With the only start-up expenditures for an affiliate essentially being a website name and web hosting. The merchandise is definitely been developed and established by the vendor, and all you have to do to uncover, as many prospective buyers as you can which will bring in the profit for both the product owner and the affiliate.

You can actually develop a prosperous affiliate marketing enterprise right in the comfort of your private home.

In affiliate marketing, a person’s responsibility is merely to obtain potential customers for the merchant; you do not need to be troubled regarding supply, purchase processing, and product shipping. These, along with customer service assistance are the responsibilities of the merchant.

Because of the world wide reach of the internet, you will be able to without difficulty find countless numbers of prospects. You can accentuate your advertising strategy by exploiting much more aggressive and effective strategies like viral marketing. Simply by appealing to extra potential customers, you additionally maximize your own potential to generate income.

Another benefit of being an affiliate marketer is the very low associated risk involved. If the merchandise you are promoting is not really making revenue in that case , you can certainly eliminate it and pick out some other product or service. Generally there are simply no long-term binding agreements tying you to products and solutions which are not really generating sufficient cash.

However, the most desirable advantage of becoming an affiliate marketer is the opportunity to improve your earnings; and you will be able to generate a return even if affiliate marketing is only a sideline business. Having your own affiliate marketing enterprise, you can without difficulty earn additional revenue, although you do currently have to put in effort and employ your creativity to take full advantage of your money making capabilities.

You have just signed up for this amazing new affiliate program. They have fantastic products, free of charge affiliate sites, training, pre-made ads for you to replicate and the best pay plan on the web. Here is the best affiliate network on the web! Place some adverts on the market and you’re on your journey to turning out to be the next net millionaire. Right?

Before you break ground on that big mansion on the hillside, here are a few mistakes a lot of new online marketers make that you will wish to avoid.

1. Believing the hype

And indeed, I actually do mean the hype promoted by your own program. Those income forecasts that every system makes are just that, predictions. You may make that much. Are you going to inside your first few months of the system? Most likely not. Look at this as a longer term investment in your future, not a method to get rich quick. Have confidence in yourself and your ability to make your dreams come true. But don’t believe the hype.

2. Expecting instant results with little effort

Be prepared to work your business. And expect to work it daily. If you opened up your own neighborhood shop, you would expect to have to go into work every day, wouldn’t you? You would expect to have to market and get people to come to your store. Well, you just opened up your own brand new internet store, exactly what will you do to make it work? How are you going to get folks to come look at your product?

3. Lack of a plan and specific objectives

You’ve probably heard the saying, plan your work and work your plan. You must have a specific plan and clear, measurable objectives. Lots of people sign up for affiliate marketing programs with the hazy goal of wanting to make lots of money. How much money? How rapidly do you want it? (Try to be realistic here, creating a million dollars in one month is not realistic.) Okay, you have your clear, specific objective. Now how will you make it happen?. Once more, think clear, specific steps here.

4. Marketing your affiliate website link

Wait a minute, if you don’t market your affiliate link, how are you supposed to get sales and downline affiliates? Create your own web site that has a url to your affiliate program. Every affiliate marketer for your program gets exactly the same site that you do. You have to be able to make yourself different from everyone else. The way you do that is with your own website.

5. Giving up

You’ve been working your affiliate program for 2, 3, maybe even 4 months now with not much to show for it. You are getting disheartened and starting to question if this is worth it after all. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and figure out what it is you need to be doing. Learn more. Bug your sponsor and your up line associates until they assist you. Don’t give up. Nobody ever reached success by quitting. Neither will you.

Because of how Google changes the rules to the game ever so often and the elusive nature of getting to the top of search engine results page, an SEO myth is born almost every day. These myths misinform individuals who genuinely want to master SEO and, worst, they are impossibly difficult to extinguish because a number of “experts” keep on harping about these so-called tried and tested tips. It becomes extremely disappointing for an average, reasonable person who just wants his small business or local business website to rank decently in search engines. So without much ado, here are the myths that must be put to rest.

1. Using Google Analytics means that Google can openly spy on you and use whatever information they retrieve against you.

This myth is straight from individuals who love conspiracy theories. Especially with how reliant a number of individuals are on Google, it is quite impossible for this search giant to compromise its relationship with millions of its users by spying on them. Also, Google has made numerous assurances that it does not collect information from its users.

2. The PageRank score is correlated to your Google ranking.

This is not always the case. There are low PR websites that easily outrank the high PR websites. The mechanism that PageRank uses to assess websites is completely different from those used by Google internally for their ranking algorithm.

3. Using an XML Sitemap will boost your ranking.

The reason for why sitemaps file exist is for the discovery of any duplicate content. But aside from that, including this into your sitemaps.xml won’t do any more good that what has just been stated even if you assigned high priority to this file. For this reason, individuals do not have to be paranoid about this.

4. Personalization has destroyed the idea of being ranked first.

Although there is some truth to the personalization of results based on the user’s search history which takes place even if you do not log in on Google, the differences between personalized and non-personalized results are very minimal. In order for you to know this for yourself, you can always re-run your queries by adding &pws=0 to your searches and you’ll know for sure how little things are shifted.

4. SEO is a one-time activity.

You’re never really done optimizing your website. SEO is ongoing and is never finished because trends change all of the time.

On May 5, 2011 Facebook rolled out a new pilot program designed to increase its historically low click through rate for ad banners. Though currently unnamed, the point of this project is to encourage users, especially those currently playing FB’s many online games, to view sponsors’ advertisements.

How It Works

When a user clicks on an ad, which offers them the option to “Earn Free Credits,” they will be given one Facebook Credit (equivalent to 10 cents) per view. These credits can then be used to purchase virtual products for these games as well as magazine subscriptions and the new Groupon-inspired Facebook Deals page.

Initially, the ads will appear mainly within the games themselves, under the assumption that those invested in FB games are more likely to spend the time viewing these ads as a chance to enhance their gaming experience. It is unclear whether the program will expand farther and it is currently being slowly revealed in classic FB fashion.

Who It Benefits

Ostensibly, the idea is to benefit the FB user by allowing him to earn “free” credits and get advertising deals, but that is far too simplistic. With well-known Facebook players such as Zynga and Digital Chocolate among the first to sign up for this program there is a lot more to it than meets the eye.

The idea here is to take advertising to a new level away from the “interruptive” form most commonly associated with pop-up ads, commercials and “words from out sponsor” that we are all accustomed to nowadays.

FB users are on the site for a purpose, so giving them incentive to view banner ads solves the problem of low-click through while helping to make money all around. According to one TG Daily blogger, Lydia Leavitt, TrialPlay (who offers Facebook Credits) has found a way “monetize games beyond selling in-game virtual goods”—this is an elaborate way to say they are increasing profits and capturing the slick minds of modern digital consumers.

Will It Work?

I titled this article “Why Facebook Paying Users to View Ads Could Work” for a reason. It’s really too soon to tell. However, the merit is there.

As an avid FB game player and the “friend” of many in real and virtual life as well I can honestly say that I know a lot of people who would jump at the chance to get a “free” leg up in these virtual games—especially those sponsored by Zynga who is notorious for giving preferential treatment to those with “FarmVille Cash” or the like, over the coins earned during regular game play.

In addition, there are certainly “computer geeks” out there who will run ads on one machine to rack up credits while playing the game on another. So the clicks here are really endless in their scope.

As for the Facebook Deals page and its contributions to this program, that is another issue altogether. If Facebook Deals can get anywhere near the volume of deals available through Groupon this is a real possibility. It’s all about what pops up in the coming months.

The Bottom Line

Let’s break it down this way. At last count Facebook had more than 500 million active viewers, 50% of which log on daily. If FB can tap into even 1% of these users through this program there is a lot of money to be made. It all boils down to marketing the program and keeping the users interested and incentivized. Something Facebook has seemed to dominate in the past.

Did you know: Facebook has a free people search option. If you look at the 3rd option on this article, you’ll find the ‘friend browser’ option which is awesome for looking for long-lost friends.
