Oh my gosh I must watch this at least 5 times a day. Love it……might even like it more than the original.

It makes me wish I was blond, had pouty lips, and was the only hot girl in a cool guy band.

Yes I know Crystal Light has been around forever! I stopped drinking it a long time ago when I cut back on processed foods BUT I have fallen in love with it again. I let myself have 1 packet a day…..it’s a yummy teat! I remember back in the day when a yummy treat was a cookie from Subway.

My friend has started to sale hand painted TOMS and shirts. She is uber talented. Love these Texas Ranger ones she did. I’m going to order some but I can’t decide what design I want to go with. She will come up with a design centered around anything. I’m thinking maybe photography themed ones, maybe zebra stripes hummmm……

Love my Wednesday Boxing Boot Camp class. It kicks my butt every week! I’m usually sore for days afterwards. I took this post workout which I have titled Wacky Workout Wednesday because again I like to give lame names to things. Look at how red I am!

Walnuts!!!!!
I dip them in humus, eat them on my salad, eat them buy themselves.
I would eat them in the rain, and in the dark, and on a train…you get my point!

Netflix streaming feature.
I have a whole little setup in my office. I stream through my laptop while I work on my PC. It’s some kind of wonderful! Right now I’m watching Mad Men which should really be titled I Pretend Like I’m Working but I’m Really Cheating on my Wife. I’m sure they almost named it that but had to go with Mad Men because well the other title is just way too long.

It’s nice to have them all together and labeled. Also like that we have a direct link to what we post so we can share with friends and family.

The Irish Jig dance I did with my friends on St. Patty’s day. How do you like my sweet boob sweat….gross! We did this after our workout hence all the sweat marks. Oh the silly things we do! If I ever need a good laugh I watch this. It cracks me up!

Oh my goodness I am obsessed with this show. Are you watching? You have to watch it with an open mind! I’m always fascinated by other cultures and this is one that I really had no previous knowledge of. Kent and I have done a bit of research because while it’s a reality show we all know how that goes. I wanted to know some facts behind the culture. I am now a wealth of random gypsy knowledge. Do not start talking to me about this show or gypsy culture. You will never get me to shut up! If you want to check it out it comes on TLC. I think it’s in it’s 3^rd season.

Getting Down and Dirty–Warrior Dash Style

I ran the Warrior Dash with a bunch of my friends on Sunday. It was such a great day.
Want to know why…….

-The weather was perfect
-I got some sun
-Had a fun workout
-Lots of smiles and laughs

-Impromptu flash mob

It was pretty neat!
One of my friends asked the DJ to play a song we knew a dance to and just a few minuets later we were dancing in front of tons of people. We’ve done a few flash mobs in the past but this one was the best one so far! We had a huge crowd watching and cheering us on!

-Climbed walls
-Crawled under barbwire
-Slid down a pole
-Swam through an ice cold pond

- Jumped over fire (I know I’m so brave)

-Annnnnnd got to play in mud

Muddy hugs all around!

Whenever I hang out with these people I always feel so blessed to have them in my life!
We’re just a bunch of big kids that love being silly and having a good time!

Anyone need a new-ish pair of shoes? These are up for grabs!

All clean and ready to call it a day. We were starving and pooped!
My arms are pretty sore today but y’all know I love that! It means I did something good!

I’ll be running this one again next year. It was a BLAST!

Ps… I have 3 blog post all ready to to go for this week. I know, I’m out of control! ;o) Sorry things have been a little low key around here. Work has been kicking my hiney!

Happy 1st Day of Spring

I’m blogging over on my photography blog today and sharing some recent landscape photos I took at the Dallas Spring Bloom event! I always feel so awkward when I blog on my photo blog….

Should I be professional or my wacky self which is soooo not professional?
Should I use slang words like wayyyyy or FUNNESS?
Should I leave my thoughts on each and every photo I post or is that too much?
Should I just post pictures and just keep my mouth shut? Yes, that would probably be best!

I usually end up staring at my computer screen for an hour or so trying to decide what to do then end up posting a few boring sentences.

From My Phone: The Last 2 Weeks

Had a shoot at this beautiful location!

Bought jeans in a size 10. Used to squeeeeeeze into a 16! It’s been at least 5 years since I’ve been a 10!

I think these vitamins were created just for me. Yes I bought them! Notice how they made the container and label shiny and bright……yep, got my attention right away!

Got this idea from Pinterest! Best hard boiled uh I mean baked egg ever! I will be doing this again! Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

At a friend’s birthday dinner. I think I look tired but Kent looks soooo cute!

I can NEVER shop for others without buying for myself. It’s sad. Tons of birthdays in March which means lots of new things for me too!

Almost got attacked by this ferocious lizard.

I could write a blog post on all my encounters with these guys. I think I’m a lizard magnet.

Yep 2 in one week. Almost stepped in this one. I waited for him to scamper off them realized he was dead….yuck!

Sweet gift from a friend!

My armpits got died hot pink! What my deodorant looked like after I used it.

That’s what happens when you wear a new hot pink top to the gym a sweat a lot. It took 2 showers to get them back to normal. I thought they looked kind of pretty though!

After workout coffee! Look at how the barista spelled my friend Holly’s name…hehehe. Yeah you know we came up with tons of jokes about the holy cup!

This is what a begging bunny looks like. His house is right next to our kitchen which has turned him into quite the beggar. I was eating a banana which in his mind should ONLY be eaten by him!

We’re Cruising Baby

Kent and I have booked a cruise for the summer! I’m super stoked (yes I still used that word). We’ll be hitting up Mexico, Jamaica-man, and the Bahamas. It’s been forever since we’ve taken a vacation just to take a vacation. If we travel it’s usually because we have an obligation but this trip is solely for us!

Since I have lost quite a bit of weight since last summer I need to do some major shopping. I know too bad so sad! Honestly though losing weigh gets expensive! I’m starting to put a little money aside for my new summer wardrobe and have been doing a little window shopping for some essential items I want for our cruise.

I’m going for a comfy chic feel! I of course want to look cute but I don’t want outfits that require a lot of fuss and MOST importantly I need to stick to my budget!

Oh how I HATE this part! I’m sure I will put this off till the very last minute. I’m hoping to drop 20 more pounds before my cruise so maybe swimsuit shopping will be a little less painful. Not sure it’s ever fun unless you look like these gals!

I always go for black when it comes to swimwear. I guess I think it doesn’t make me stick out as much. I want to blend in as much as possible when I’m in a swimsuit!

Little catching up here! Let’s start with Valentine’s Day……

We make cards for each other every year. Kent always makes me the BEST cards!

I felt like a princess. Kent is the most amazing cook! He continues to wow me with his skills. Best salmon ever!

Huge sweet potato with cinnamon and walnuts for dessert. Of course I had to use my heart shaped spoon!

Love snail mail! Got the sweetest Valentine’s card from a friend. She listed the top 10 things she likes about me. I know, how sweet is that!

Let’s just call this Valentine's crack. It was yummy and should never be in the car with someone who just finished a 2 hour workout…..NEVER!

Went to a trampoline park with friends. It was a BLAST!!!!! I think we had more fun than the kiddos.

Girls Night Out and something I never do. I don't really go out, out…you know what I mean? I’m more of a chill at a coffee shop kind of gal but I had a blast! We saw a 70’s cover band hence the outfits and my friend got up on stage!

Kent is an amazing cook but a clean cook he is not. I’ve been talking to him about cleaning as he goes but it doesn’t look like it’s working. He does clean his mess up after he all done so I can’t complain. I do shake my head a lot though.

Oh yeah 1st iced drink of the season! It’s pretty much spring here in Texas…..winter skipped us this year.

They are still in love……

Kent made the yummiest granola and I can’t keep my hands out of it!

Late night workout in my pjs. Yes they have bunnies on them and YES I have mirrors in my office….don’t hate!

Multitasking at its finest! Streaming Nextflix on my laptop (Downton Abbey episodes), dinner (grilled chicken salad), and Photoshop (editing pics)....all at once! Take that whoever said it’s impossible to multitask!

I’ve been married for almost a year but I’m just now getting to wear my wedding set (want to know why? Click HERE). It makes me happy every time I look at it!

Had dinner with the family to celebrate my niece’s 13th birthday! Love my glowing eyed family!

Let’s Take a Moment to Mourn the Loss…..

I’m sad to say it…….

I loved them.
I treasured them.
They were my pride and joy.

BUT they are gone. :o(

This is the last photo I took with them.
Try to look past the cute bunny to the pretties resting on my face.

My treasured sunglasses are gone.
I’m not sure where they went exactly but they are no longer in my possession.

THIS makes me very sad.

I’ve been looking for them for over a week but I think it’s time to say my goodbyes.

They were expensive but their polarized lenses and sturdy frames were worth every stinking penny!

I’m trying to convince Kent that I can NOT shoot outside without them. I pretty much need them to be able to work! ;o)

He Totally Surprised Me

Kent got me good this week! Best surprise EVER and we’ve been together for 11 years so that’s saying a lot! I didn’t see it coming and he played it off perfectly.

I’ll try my best to give you’re the short version but you know me……

I got home late from the gym Wednesday night. I just finished a 3 hour workout so I was pooped! I plopped down on the couch and had no plans to move anytime soon.

Kent and I chatted
I filled him in on my workout. He always likes to know what we do in boot camp
He told me about his day.
You know the usual stuff.

At this point he’s acting totally normal.

He gets up for a second and comes back and says “Did you feed Ninja yet?” I said no and realized it was super late and my poor bunny was probably starving.

I got up to make little Ninja a salad (yes he’s a fancy bunny).

I went into the room where Ninja’s house is and flicked on the light. When I touched the light switch I noticed a piece of paper attached to it.

How sweet is that? Kent knows I LOVE taking hot baths. Wednesday is my crazy workout day (Ab class, Boxing Boot Camp, and DANCEATON) so I usually take a hot bath Wednesday nights to relax my muscles.

I was soooo excited!

Side Note: See the chewed up note on the right? Kent’s original plan was to tie his note around Ninja’s neck. Kent said Ninja looked so cute but Ninja had other plans for that piece of paper. I hope it was yummy!

I went upstairs to enjoy my bath and saw this when I walked into room……

Not only was there a piping hot bath waiting for me (he had been adding hot water all night without me knowing to make sure it stayed hot) he cleaned the whole bathroom from top to bottom and had another surprise for me!

It’s my wedding band! One of the diamonds fell out shortly after we got married so I’ve only been wearing my engagement ring. He took my wedding band and had the diamond replaced without me knowing. It’s hard to get things past me…..I notice everything!

That my friend was the best surprise ever. I still get giddy when I think about it! He went to so much trouble to pull this whole thing off and had been planning it for weeks!

Post 3 hour workout, makeup free, drenched in sweat, exhausted, and on cloud nine!

You Tube and Exercise

In my last post I mentioned using You Tube as a tool in your workout routine. If you don’t have a gym membership, are low on funds, and have a hard time getting out of the house to get your workouts in You Tube has your back!

It’s all about NOT MAKING EXCUSES!

Get up early and get it in before the kiddos wake up.
Let your little ones join you.
Do it after everyone goes to bed.
Schedule time for it and write it on your planner!

If there is a will there is a way…right?

Most of my workouts are done at the gym but I do take a few dance breaks throughout the day! When I’m editing photos I can sit my butt for hours which is hard on me (I hate sitting still). Sooooo I love taking a little dance breaks to wake myself up! It also a great way to burn a few calories!

If you follow me on Twitter you’ve heard all about my dance breaks. Maybe you’ve even taken one with me! Sometimes I just crank up a song with a good beat and get my groove on. I’ll also pull up a clip from one of my favorite You Tube channels and do the routine with them! Below are a few of my favorites.

The Sensazao Crew has tons of great cardio dance clips.
Love their stuff because the energy level is pretty high.

Another great one! She has 13 clips in her channel and they are all fabulous but this one is my all time favorite. Do this 3 times in a row and I promise you’ll feel it in your arms and back the next day.

A friend of mine introduced me to LB Kass. Her You Tube channel has over 400 clips sooo you will have tons of routines to do! She mainly post clips to teach choreography so if you have a hard time learning steps or are a cardio dance instructor you might find her channel helpful.

Also love her Yollet stuff! It’s a mixture of……you guessed it yoga and ballet technique. Great for toning.

I saved the BEST for last! Someone posted the whole Clubland workout DVD on youtube. This is an awesome workout! The routines are fun the energy level is high and she covers cardio and toning! I even looked into buying this DVD I love it so much but it’s hard to find.

Friends Fitness and my Story

I watch what I eat and I bust my butt at the gym. I’ve worked really hard to get to the point I’m at today but I owe much of my weight loss success to my gym buddies!

There is no way I would have come this far without them!

I’m a people person and thrive on having social interaction. I work long hours and am in my office alone most of the day. Hitting the gym is my release. During my high seasons I don’t have tons of time to visit with my friends and family. Thankfully they know how crazy my schedule can be and are understanding! Most of my time is divided between work, my husband, my home, and the gym. Knowing that I’m a people person I needed to get that social interaction in somewhere! It’s an important key to my happiness!

Having that social component in my workout was a huge perk for me!
It wasn’t something I even gave thought to. You go to the gym to sweat then you go home. Right? At least that’s what I used to think about my gym time but you can get so much more from your workout! It’s doesn’t have to be boring and routine.

It can be FUN, EXCITING, and ENERGIZING!

There was a time when I dreaded going to the gym. I had to literally pep talk myself into every single workout. If there was a way out I would take it! I found myself cycling in and out of workout binges where I would be so driven and focused then totally drop the whole thing and not step foot in the gym for months.

I was struggling with my weight. I noticed that I lived a healthier lifestyle when I was working out regularly but I just couldn't get that part of the puzzle to fit. You know why? Because I had not found a workout that was fun. A workout that clicked for me. Let me tell ya, I’ve tried them all! Sure there were some that I liked but nothing I was committed to.

If I was going to stick to something it would have to be something that I loved, something that would make me excited to go to the gym!

WHAT, be excited to go the gym?
Yes, I promise it’s possible!

I started attending a cardio dance class called DANCEATON which is offered at several 24 Hour Fitness locations within my area. As you know I LOVE to dance! DANCEATON is fast and the endurance level was more challenge then what I experienced in other cardio dance classes. When people ask what DANCEATON is I tell them it’s like Zumba on steroids….we’re talking air jacks, pushups, and ab work all while you dance.

I had found my fun workout!
That was the 1st part in making this whole thing click.

Valentine’s Day!
We’re always looking for a reason to dress up for class. This is my friend Emma and I with Gaby, the creator of DANCEATON.

I was loving DANCEATON, going as often as I could, seeing changes in my body, and starting to build friendship with people I met in class. This was awesome because not only was I looking forward to working out I was excited to socialize and see my friends. My gym friends are different than my other friends. Don’t get me wrong I love and value my other friends but these new friendships I was starting to form were a little different………

*We are working towards the same goal. *

*We support each other on our shared journey.*

*We motivate and push one another.*

If someone is not in class when they should be they get a call. On Monday’s my friend and I text our weekly weigh in to each other. When we eat out together we help each other make healthy meal decisions. Sometimes we stay after class and do weights or cardio together. It was the support system I so desperately needed to jump start my journey.

Something else I noticed about my gym buddies was that everyone is happy and positive! They say working out is a great way to relieve stress and creates endorphins (which make you happy) and well, I believe them whoever “they” are. There is nothing like a good workout to lift your spirit. Happy positive people are my favorite type of people! :)

We have fun during DANCEATON. We sweat and work hard but we smile and laugh a lot!

Not only did I connect with my new friends during class we started spending time together outside of class as well. We have coffee together. We meet for dinner. We plan fun activities. I ran my 1st 5k with my new friends and have another run coming up in the spring. We’re just a group of happy people enjoying life and working towards a common goal.

When you surround yourself with people that have the same goals and outlook on life as you do it’s extremely empowering!

We enjoy taking DACEATON but also pull together to attend other classes as well. This year one of my resolutions was to do more weights and boot camp type classes. It’s great to have friends who are as jazzed about working out as I am to attend new classes with. I’m starting to get back into spin and do boot camp and weights twice a week. We have our own little DANCEATON corner that we all flock to when we attend other classes. Not sure I would have branched out in my workouts if it wasn’t for these guys!

I would have NEVER imagined that I would build connections like this in a workout class.

And so my journey continues……..
I’m hoping to reach my goal weight by my 30th birthday in August!

If you’re struggling with your workout or if you need a little kick to get started it’s time to find your sweet spot! I promise you will not stick to what you’re doing long term unless you find some type of joy or passion in your workout.

-If you’re a people person like myself buddy up with someone. Make sure it’s someone that is as dedicated as you and has the same goals.

-If you workout at a gym try several classes and introduce yourself to someone you stand next to. I know this can be a little uncomfortable but sometimes putting ourselves in a new and uncomfortable situation helps up grow!

- Update your play list with fun upbeat songs that you love rocking out to.

-Try a fun new exercise DVD. I know you can rent them for free from them library. If you’re a member of Netflix they have tons of workout DVDs you can rent. I’ve also found a lot of great stuff on youtube. Maybe I’ll do a post with links to some of my favs.

-Join a local workout group. Have you ever heard of meetup.com? It’s full of free groups that are dedicated to all types of things. I’ve seen hiking groups, mommy mall walking groups just to name a few. Most of these groups are free. Just a bunch of people connecting over something they have in common.

I could go on and on about this! There are so many ways you can get your booty moving or jazz up your workout! You just can’t make excuses and need to get started!

Keep trying new things until you find your sweet spot!

There are days that I don’t want to go to the gym. When that happens I visit my health board on pinterest for a little motivation! It works!!!

I was having a bad day last week but thought about this little guy and got my butt to the gym!

Ninja Wanted to Wish you a Happy Heart Day

I just finished Kent’s Valentine’s card.
We make silly cards for each other every year. It’s kind of our thing and I LOVE it!

He always comes up with the BEST ideas for the cards makes. This year I made him one that has a few pictures of his favorite star crush (Zoe Deschanel). I hope he likes it!

We have plans to cook dinner and watch Super 8 tonight.

It’s a low key Valentine's but that’s what we do best!

I have been prop shopping like crazy! Getting the mail is going to be fun for the next few weeks. I have plans to paint this little bed white and give it a little vintage feel. It’s actually an American Girl doll bed but I plan to use it for my itty-bitty clients.

Friday night ritual! Workout then dinner at Rosa’s. I got for the Chicken tostada.

Packing up the craft room. It was a labor of love and fun to have but it’s time to say goodbye.

We are turning this into our dining room and officially turning our dining room into my studio. I’ve been using it as my studio for the last year but it’s time to get some shelves in there and make it all pretty. All my craft stuff is going into bins and getting moved into my office closet. My office is soon getting its own little overhaul. Remember this is my year of organization!

Ninja was crazy that day! He followed me around the house like a dog and was doing tons of funny bunny things. I shared a little clip on his facebook page Adventures of Ninja the Bunny. :)

Coffee date with my gal pal! We split some yummies. The dark chocolate raspberry cake pop was so stinking good and worth every single calorie.

PJ date night with Kent!

I wanted to look pretty so I wore matching PJs. Kent didn’t really get the gesture when I told him I dressed up for him.

We stayed in and watched Paranormal Activity 3. Holy moly y’all that movie freaked my freak out. I was screaming and jumping within the 1st 10. I watched most of it with my hands over my eyes. We also watched 50/50 which was another good pick.

I’m not wearing makeup in this picture but I think Kent looks so cute.

Loving green smoothies! We had tons of spinach in our co-op basket last cycle so I thought this would be a good way to use it. I just throw in a little almond milk, a few veggies like carrots, cucumbers, celery, frozen fruit, and whatever fresh fruit we have on hand….and of course spinach which is how it get its color.

I promise you they are mmm-mmm good!

I’ve been drinking them as a meal replacement a few times this week and I’m finally over my month long plateau. Good to see the scale go in the right direction again!

My favorite Greek yogurt flavors at the moment.
Chobani has tons of flavors so it changes often.

Blood orange with a little Kashi cereal on top and cinnamon apple with walnuts.

Little tip: Some of their nonfat flavors are higher in calories (mango and pineapple are the 2 I can think of) so watch out for that if you’re keeping an eye on your calorie intake.

If you could only see just how big this cup is. It took 3 towels to clean this up. Yep, another “OH MAAAANNNN” moment. Seriously I think I need to go back to sippy cups. Funny thing is that this actually has a lid but I hadn’t put the lid on yet…..oopps!

Went back to Power House for another hip-hop class. I was told by my instructor that there is NO SMILING in hip-hop. I can’t help it “I love smiling, smiling’s my favorite.” –Buddy the Elf

Left Ninja out and downstairs by himself for a whole hour while Kent and I had a big discussion about life….yes I know we’re so deep. ;) I was almost certain that I would come down to a chewed up mess (bunnies like to nibble on things) but Mr. Cuteness was just hanging out in his house. Seriously y’all he really is the best bunny!

Do you have one of these? I LOVE mine! Mrs. ADD here was always forgetting to blow candles out. I know, BAD!!! Now I never have to worry about that. In case you’re wondering what this is, it’s a Sensty burner.

Setting Weekly Goals and Planning Your Schedule

I have a confession…….I’m totally old school when it comes to keeping up with my schedule. I have yet to jump on the digital scheduling bandwagon. It drives Kent nuts that I keep up with my schedule the old fashion way, pen and paper. He’s constantly showing me scheduling apps I can use on my phone or trying to get me to keep track of things through Google's calendar feature BUT I like tangible things ANNNND being able to cross items off my list so I have embraced the fact that I am not hip when it comes to my planner of choice!

Actually I’m not hip when it comes to a lot of things! If you follow me on Twitter I’m sure you’ve caught onto this!

I purchased an Erin Condren planner this year. It’s my 1st time using her planner and I’m hooked. Love how detailed it is. It’s perfect for an obsessive list maker/planner like myself. It’s taken me a month or so to figure out how I wanted to go about using the planner and creating a system that works but I think I’ve got it down. Let’s chat a bit about how I layout my weekly goals!

I start every Monday with a cup of coffee and my Weekly Wishes. Yes I am lame and like to give things cheesy names. Come on you know you like to do it too! My Weekly Wishes are just that, my wishes or goals for the week. Things I need and want to accomplish.

I break everything down into categories (Health, Home, Work, and Relationships). Some weeks I may have more categories depending on what’s going on but these are always my core.

Health: When setting my health goals for the week I come up with my workout schedule and other health related things I want to focus on. For this particular week I had been on a plateau so I really wanted to focus on my workouts and portion control. This week I’m focusing on my water intake as well as my diet. I have decided to drink a green smoothie as a meal replacement a few times this week. I’m happy to report that my plateau has been broken!

Home: This is an area I struggle with. I put in a lot of hours in the office, hit the gym 7-8 hours a week, and am pooped when it comes to my keeping my house clean and organized. I’m just not motivated in this area. 2012 is my year of organization (see something else I have given a name to.) sooooo all the clutter and unorganized closets are going down! Each week I pick a home organization project. Last week I wanted to start working on my studio transformation. This week I’m tackling my nightstand! I also include things like change the sheets, put away all laundry…stuff like that.

Work: I use my Erin Condren planner for work and my personal life so I also keep up with my work task for the week through this planner. Under work I write meetings I may have, e-mails I need to reply to, shoots on the calendar, photos that need attention, sessions and so on.

Relationships: I’m always striving to be a good wife/friend/daughter/aunt…... I am in no way the best which is why I’m always working on it but it’s an area in my life that is important to me and deserves focus. I think at times we get comfortable in our relationship whether it be a marriage, friendship, or even a relationship with your family member. We can take those closes to us for granted. Under the relationship category I write things like leave Kent a love note, tell him randomly 5 things I love about him, call my mom, send my friend a birthday card, set up a coffee date with a friend …..stuff like that.

Once everything is all typed up I print it out, add a colorful tab to it so I can easily flip to it, and paper clip it to my planner.

The next thing I do is break everything down into days. I look over my Weekly Wishes and decided what I want to tackle each day of the week and jot it down.

*Note I NEVER write in my planner in a pen. It freaks me out! Yes I am weird!

As the week goes on and I accomplish my tasks I cross items off my Weekly Wishes sheet. At the end of the week I have a neon yellow highlighted beauty staring back at me and I can give myself a pat on the back!

I have ADD (self diagnosed but I swear I have it) and this system is helping me a lot. Feel free to copy away if you think it’s something that would work for you. Create categories on your Weekly Wishes page that work for you and your lifestyle.

Why in the world do we do that to ourselves? The fact is I’m working really hard and loosing weight but for some reason my mind hasn't caught onto that yet.

Side Note: I’ve received a few comments and e-mails from people wanting me to tell my weight loss story. I’m still in the mist of my journey but I am going down the right path! Happy 1st Day of February

Happy 1st day of February!
We have yet to have a winter in Texas and yes I am complaining! It is winter and all but it feels like fall. Don’t get me wrong I love the fall but winter rates right up there as one of my favorite seasons and Dallas is totally getting the shaft. I have yet to use a big thick jacket, wear gloves, or get giddy over a snow day. We’re getting close to spring so it would be nice if we at least had 1 week of wintery weather. I’ll keep hoping and being jealous of all these beautiful snow pictures and blog post I’ve been seeing!

I had a client reschedule last weekend sooooo I had little Abby jump in front of the camera and take advantage of setup I put together. Pink is totally her color!

Anyone want to take a stab at who she’s looking at with those big brown eyes? I’m sure you know!

The only way I could get her to look in my direction was when I shouted the magic word……

Random and Odd Facts About Moi

I always need some type of background noise whether I’m working, surfing the web, or cleaning. Music is my 1^st choice but I also like flipping on QVC. Have y’all ever seen Isaac Mizrahi on QVC? He CRACKS ME UP!!!! I don’t really like his stuff but I LOVE him!

When I’m scared or see a scary movie…..if it’s REALLLLYYYY scary my eyes will tear up. I have no idea why. I’m not crying it’s just an instant reaction.

A baked Sweet potato with cinnamon is a dessert to me. I remember when it used to be cookies or cake. Don’t get me wrong I still enjoy a little sinful treat every now and then but not often.

Kent can tell you all kinds of funny/creepy stories about my sleep talking. Yes I talk and sometimes laugh in my sleep. My mind never stops!

I would love to live in Colorado. I’ve never been there but I am certain I would be in heaven there. Kent wants to live in California so were are in a bit of a predicament

Sometimes it takes me 3-4 trips up and down the stairs before I remember why I went downstairs in the 1^st place.

I’m worried about my feet growing when I have babies. I already wear a size 11. Not much room to grow from there before I will officially be in clown shoes.

I say “Ninja you are soooo stinking cute!” at least 100 times a day. I’m sorry but he is. Ninja is our bunny just in case you’re confused.

For about a week every month my nose goes into over drive. I’m like a dog. I can smell anything and everything. Kent and I will sometimes play the identify this smell game. It cracks him up! It’s kind of like a super human power that comes to visit every month.

My 2011 Mottos

Disclaimer: Let me start this off by saying this is my blog and I choose to share what I want. The purpose of this blog is not to hurt or upset anyone! If you know me personally you know hurting someone is the last thing I would want to do. I hope to inspire and maybe make someone laugh every now and then!

I recently deleted a post as it caused a few issues in my personal life. Do you remember my post on guilt? Yep that’s the one I decided to delete. The post was read with malice and not an open mind. I wanted to share something I struggle with and something that I am almost certain others struggle with as well. While y’all were sweet and left wonderful engaging comments (which I love) the post was used against me in an discussion with someone in my personal life.

This is my little place to share. I don’t journal, I blog and I hope to continue to share in a fashion that I enjoy. If you begin to read a post that becomes hurtful to you I ask that you reread with an open and understanding mind. This is a place of love, inspiration, and yes lots of randomness!

Ok now that that’s out of the way let’s get on with today’s post!

A bit harsh yes, but true! Do you have people like this in your life? I bet we all do.

This was my moto for 2011 and will continue with me throughout my life. Out with the bad, in with the good in. I can’t say that without thinking about that scene from Dum and Dumber…..come on you know which scene I’m talking about!

Last year has been all about surrounding myself with positive people and energy and separating myself from those who do not harbor the same lifestyle that I want for myself and future family. Do I sound like tree hugging hippie? I’m sure I do but you know what……. it’s working!

2011 was amazing and I feel extremely blessed with all the wonderful gifts and life lessons I was given last year. I have to think that creating this positive bubble has something to do with it!

I lost weight and still am!!! 60 down pounds so far! (THIS makes me happy)

I’m working out and making healthier choices. (THIS makes me happy)

I’m happy! I mean truly and honestly happy! I’m a happy person in general but I’m not only HAPPY but happy with my life. Do you get what I’m saying? You know that saying “Life is good”? I say that to myself alllll the time! (THIS of course……makes me happy)

Kent and I are falling more and more in love as the days go on. Yes this sounds cheesy but it’s true. I never thought I could love him more than I did on our wedding day but you know what, I do! We are not perfect. We fight at times but we are working towards growing and building our life together as husband and wife. He is an amazing man and I feel so blessed to be able to call him my husband. Even when we argue I try to take a step back and think about all the awesome things I love about him and I feel blessed. (THIS makes me happy)

I’ve said good bye to the users in my life. You know, the people that take, take, take weather they are taking your time, materiel things, or striping away at your happiness. Saying goodbye to these people was not easy and still something I struggle with but when I look at my life as a whole I am happier without them. (THIS makes me happy)

I’ve grown positive friendship with loving, good people. People that have kind hearts and good intentions. People that are positive thinkers like myself. (THIS makes me happy)

My photography business is growing leaps and bounds! (THIS makes me happy)

I’m opening my eyes to life lessons that I am being shown on a daily biases and allowing myself to grow from them! There is always a lesson to be learned! (THIS makes me happy)

I’ve said bye-bye to DRAMA….as much as I can. I hate drama especially petty drama. It’s hard to fully say good bye to it as it seems to creep in every now and then but I’m handling it differently when it does. (THIS makes me happy)

This purpose of this post is to not make you sick at your stomach with all my loving life positive talk. Believe me there are people out there that get annoyed by this. The purpose is to motivate YOU to cultivate a good life. A life that you want for yourself and your family, whatever life that may be.

My life is far from perfect. I still struggle. Uh did you read my post on guilt? Proof of my struggles right there! BUT I’m happy and I’m able to find joy and be thankful. I get lost in my gratitude thinking about all the things I’m grateful for in my life. I’m happy not just on the outside but the inside as well.

I had to take a little mini blog break during the fall. I was a busy gal capturing photos for my clients but my work schedule has return to normal and I can now breath and rejoin the world!

A Date Under the Stars

Okay not under the starts but more next to them and uhhhh maybe I should say Christmas lights instead of stars but you get the jist.

I’ve been short on time lately. In fact I’m up at typing this at 4am on a Sunday morning and will soon be starting my workday. I’m a morning person though so it’s allllll good!

Work has been ca-ca-crazy but crazy good, not crazy bad. I LOVE it but it sure is time consuming during the high seasons (spring and fall).

Since I pretty much live in my office unless I’m out shooting or at the gym hubby time has become nonexistent.

Sooooo we planned a PJ date night! He cooked the meal and I set the mood!

I had some Christmas lights up from a photo shoot I did a few weeks back. I thought they were the perfect backdrop for our little impromptu PJ date night.

We had the BEST time! After dinner we moved the “table” out of the way and just cuddled, chit-chatted, and laughed for hours. No need to spend a fortune to create a romantic experience. We didn’t spend a dime and we both had a blast just enjoying each other’s company….and the pretty starts….uh I mean Christmas lights.

Halloween Tradition

Well not really sure if we can call it a tradition BUT it’s something we’ve done for two years in a row! It’s getting close to becoming a tradition I guess.

For the last two years my neighbor and close friend (I know, how lucky am I) sit in my front yard and pass out candy together. We chat, laugh, and oh and aw over all the little cuties. Although this year we had lots of older kids (teenagers) sans costumes.

Kent I laid down a ground rule for our future children. We’re cool with them trick-or-treating as long as they want but they must ALWAYS wear a costume or we won’t let them go. It sounds mean but I think that’s the price you pay as a trick or treater. You get free candy and in return the passer-outer (do you like that) gets to see you dressed up! It’s only fair!

Ninja even got in on the action. He was a bubble bee and a mighty cute one at that!

Oh Mrs. Marsh May (that’s my nick name for her). She calls me Kendra Lou.
I just love this girl to pieces! She is such a special friend. I don’t think I could have picked a better neighbor myself. I know I’ve said that a million times but it’s true!

It was fun dressing up! We felt a little like superstars. We had our pictures taken with random strangers and the kids excited to see the costumes. I guess my costume was a good choice because the elementary kids are learning about Cat and the Hat in school right now. They were all excited to tell me about it.

I think I’m going to be a Disney princess next year!

Ps…..The Cat and the Hat costume was browed from Mrs. Marsha May. It was her Halloween costume when she was in the 7th grade! Isn’t that neat! I wish I would have hung onto some of my old costumes.

Back from Arkansas

I’m bAAAAAck!
Y’all let me tell you something, the Ozark Mountains are stunning this time of year. No wonder I had such a hard time finding a cute cabin for us to stay in. We ended up staying in Hot Springs and took a day trip to the Ozarks. I am still on could nine thinking about all the beautiful things I saw……bold rich fall colors (the prettiest I’ve ever seen), natural waterfalls, maintains, old rustic bridges, vacant shacks…..the list just goes on and on. I was wishing my niece was with me. We would’ve had tons of backdrop options for her senior pictures. Oh my gosh to be a photographer in Arkansas this time of yea; I can’t even imagine!

I now have trillions of pictures of fall scenery that I have no idea what I’m going to do with.

I was thinking about maybe making a fall picture calendar or may using the images on notes cards.
I have no idea! I know I’m going to frame a few and hang them in our living room…someday! I’ve been saying I’m going to do gallery way for the longest!

Kent and I pulled out the tripod and took our Christmas card photos. This is our second year doing this as Kent refuses to let me hire a photographer. Let me tell ya it’s not easy! We were able to get a few cutes ones. I will say we did a better job using the tripod this year. Last year was even more of a mess! I think we got maybe 2 good ones last year but we have 6 or so keepers. I’m cool with that!

I was in need of a new headshot so my sweet hubby took over the camera for a bit. I feel pretty lucky that Kent also knows his way around a camera! I told him what type of pose and shot I was looking for and he took care of the rest.

On a side note I HATE being on the other side of the camera.

Annnnddd I have one eye that’s bigger than the other when I smile….in some shots (you can see what I’m talking about in the pic on the right). What in the world is up with that? I think that’s a new thing.

Once I have a chance to work through more of our photos I’m going to share more about our trip to fall heaven! We already talking about going back next year!
