there was an instant click when we first met yesenia and scott for their engagement shoot last year. after all, we love animals, they love animals. i love the dallas cowboys, they love the cowboys (i went crazy when i saw the garter).

when i first walked into the hotel suite, there was such positive and happy vibe. just moments after getting into her wedding gown, yesenia and her father exchanged glances and i could see him fighting back the tears in his eyes. there’s a special place in my heart each time i witness a father daughter moment. on their beautiful day, yesenia and scott were surrounded by many people who loved and supported them. right before the night came to a close, all their wedding guests joined the couple on the dance floor and formed a huge circle, connecting hands to shoulder, each smiling, laughing, and celebrating their special day together. a perfect ending to a perfect wedding. yesenia and scott, thank you for the honor of capturing your special day!

arizona road trip: grand canyon national park and sedona

pops and i planned a super spontaneous vaca to arizona just one day before we embarked on the road trip. besides the speeding ticket i got on the way there (76mph in a 70mph zone ARE YOU KIDDING ME. MR. POPO!?), we had a great father-daughter bonding 3 days. arizona is such a beautiful state covered in massive canoyns and walls that reflect different reddish bluish colors against the sun. we witnessed breathtaking views of canyons 6000 ft deep and rocks 5000 ft tall.

each time we gassed up, pops calculated our mpg. not sure if he was more excited to get 33.33 mpg or witness the grand canyon.

this 2 billion year old canyon spans 277 miles long, 18 miles wide and over a mile in depth. mind.blown.

pops wouldn’t let me inch any closer to the ledge. he said his feet became noodly.

back in the room, pops watched nervously as the heat beat the pacers by 1 in OT.

day 2: bright angel trail

don’t think he brought enough snacks for us…

we hiked from the trailhead to plateau point. roughly 3000ft elevation change one way and 12.2 miles roundtrip.

“it shouldn’t be hard”, he said. “we don’t need that much water”, he said. 8 miles later, so…sore…..

after his nap, we went to look for a good spot to watch the sunset. it only lasted a few minutes before the sun dipped below the canyon’s horizon but it was an amazing few minutes. just the opposite direction was a bright full moon.

can’t believe it’s been 2 years since the last time i did a portraits session with jeff and julie’s beautiful family. if it wasn’t for how fast little emily is growing up i’d still think it was just yesterday. and now there’s even a new addition to the family, 4 month old big-eyed/big-cheeked abigail! we chose a beautiful saturday morning and kept it intimate at their house. always a fun time with my taco-providing neighbors.

carondelet house, downtown LA wedding: jenny + ryan

i’ve known jenny since we were tweens. it was during the nsync vs backstreet boys and legolas vs gimli days. her dad once called my pug, dozer, ugly. “what an ugly dog!” were the exact words and we laughed our asses off. i’ll never forget it. jenny’s parents were considered to be the cool parents so we all became pretty close. they’d give us kimchi and those korean black beans every time we were over. it’s especially touching to see someone you grew up with get married and even more heartwarming to see the parent’s emotions. fastforward 13 years later and she’s getting married to the perfect man, ryan, in the perfect night-time setting. the first time i met ryan, he brought me cupcakes. that, gentlemen, is the way to win your future wife’s friend’s hearts. she’s always been miss fashionista and everything about this beautiful wedding screams style. her flowers were designed by the ever so talented marisol, her bridesmaids in sleek alexander wang and her dress, omg, her dress. by the amazing jenny packham and her coat, omg, her coat!!!! insane chanel. i’m so thankful i got to be a part of her wedding and also so happy i got to shoot for at least a couple hours, before the alcohol took over.

ryenny, congratulations to the both of you. just remember..pasadena…babies. <3

get your napkins ready!!! stall 239 now offers insanely delicious street food conveniently located in the heart of ktown at 239 s vermont ave, los angeles. walk right up to the stall just like the night markets of asia and peruse the menu but take your time because, trust me, it’ll be hard to make a decision. you might as well just order everything off the menu since there’s no item over 6 bucks. for all you strict dieters, this will be the one place where you relapse. i say it’s worth it.

road trip with pops: cruising on pch from the bay to la

so my brother left the socal bubble and moved up to the bay to start a new chapter. new job, new friends, new place, new rock climbing gym, but no new sister. this pretty much explains why i’ve been an emo mess lately but thank god for google hangouts (and effects)! over the weekend, pops and i helped him move. we took the “fast” way up, the 5 freeway, then decided to take the scenic route on pch back to la. it was a longgggggg drive but worth it! we stopped in santa cruz, monterey, carmel-by-the-sea (sad i didn’t see clint), big sur, and piedras blancas. hope you enjoy the photo diary

first stop, santa cruz. the weather was perfect.

so excited we got to see some sea lions near the pier

next stop, monterey. we only stayed a few minutes because we asian. parking cost money. saw some crazy surfers in the freezing water waiting for the perfect wave but don’t think they caught any…

30 miles south, we hit big sur. though i went camping there not too long ago, it’s always worth a stop for these breathtaking views

last stop before the home stretch, piedras blancas! females give birth around christmas and stay on the beach for 5 weeks. it was so incredible to see such a rare event. if you look closely, each mother has a baby elephant seal right by her side.
