Here it is Done Didders, the first of hopefully man music and awesomeness or rant related posts by yours truly. Be easy on me, bitches.

I'll warn you right now, this is a biased rant-like post as opposed to the news you're used to. However, if i can't make it as good for you as it is for me, i'll at least make sure you finish first.

Now, I know Music isn't really dying and there are plenty of awesome artists around these days. The problem we are encountering is that the good stuff is all underground or low-key, once anyone gains any semblance of mainstream popularity they seem to start heading downhill fast. And yes, I am fully aware of how hipster that sounds, but bear with me on this...I'm new.

The main cause for this post though, is that I listened to the radio today for the first time in a very, very long time. What I heard pushed the limits of what I can consider calling music and actually angered me a bit. I am sure that it is because of my music styles being different to others and me being such a cynical git, but still.

So I present three songs that have made me lose faith in the public's ability to decide what classifies as good music.

Firstly. and I'm certain no-one can legitimately argue with me on this one: Crazy Kids - Ke$ha.

This song is pure abortion. It combines the talentless bullshit voice of Ke$ha, with her useless writing skills that contain the exact same themes as everything she has ever written, as well as the abomination that Will.I.Am has let himself become. It is simply awful in every regard.

Secondly: Everything has Changed - Taylor Swift ft. Ed Sheeran

I will admit that my loathing for this song comes primarily from the fact that I despise both of these artists. Taylor swift has only ever written the one song over and over again and Ed Sheeran panders to what he knows is popular and will make him the most amount of money (Taylor is quite guilty of this too, hence the match-up). This song has been created for the simple reason that tons of wannabe sensitive douche bags and dumb lovestruck girls will fork out tons of money to hear soppy unimaginative bullshit.

Lastly, and I hate that I have to put these guys in the same league as the others but: Get Lucky - Daft Punk ft. PharrellB

Don't get me wrong, the music in this song is brilliant. I really like the beat and it's got a great funk to it. Pharrell also has a brilliant voice and I really don't mind him as a musician. What gets me with this song is that it starts with some great lyrics and seems like its gonna be something new and exciting that will get me into Daft Punks new album. What happens instead is it turns into just another one of the many shitty songs about getting drunk, staying up late and banging some skanky club chick. If i wanted to hear that crap again I would listen to any other club song released in the last twenty years.

They could have at least dressed those themes up in some clever or good lyrics, but instead its just bullshit unimaginative stuff I would expect from someone like Ke$sha. It really made me sad.

Well that's all guys, hope you enjoyed it. I sure loved the sweet release that my rants bring me.

David Tennant and Billie Piper returns for the Dr Who 50th Anniversary special!

The BBC have announced that David Tennant and Billie Piper will return for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special

I use the phrase "Keen as a bean" pretty often in my life, to inform people that I am excited about an upcoming event or occasion. That phrase comes no where near close to expressing my excitement at the most recent Dr Who announcement from BBC.

We've heard all about the "huge" and "spectacular" plans for the Doctor's 50th anniversary happening later this year, and one such plan was to release a feature length special, in 3D in selected UK cinemas. The BBC look set to come through with these promises, as we now learn that the 10th Doctor David Tennant and his beloved companion Rose Tyler will be appearing in the special episode!

Not a lot else is known about the episode and how exactly the two doctors are going to fit alongside each other in an episode, but it is not the first instance that this has happened. In 1983 for the 20th anniversary special "The five doctors" where the fifth doctor had to save the previous incarnations of himself from a time-manipulating threat. It's all smiles for the read through, the offical twitter page posting the below photo.

The feature is set to air on or around the actual date of the anniversary, November 23rd, it doesn't really matter with a Time Machine anyway. Done Did It are keener than beans for this! Keener than all the beans! And we will post updates to the story as we get them.

HBO renews Game of Thrones for Season 4

Following an incredible April Fools joke, HBO has announced that Game of Thrones will return for Season 4

What is seemingly the norm with many television shows, movies and even games, in production during April, HBO performed a cruel April fools joke on fans of the Game of Thrones series. On April 1st, show creators David Benioff, Dan Weiss and George R.R. Martin made the following exciting announcement:

“Today is both a sad day and an exciting one for HBO’s Game of Thrones,” Benioff began. “Sad because we’ve all gotten to know Peter on set and love him dearly as a friend. We’ll miss him sorely. Exciting because we’re heading in an entirely new direction with the character of Tyrion Lannister for season 4.”

Weiss went on to explain the announcement further: “It was a unanimous decision between David, myself, Peter and George. We want to take Tyrion in a more comedic, farcical direction and everyone including Peter agreed that he just wasn’t the man for the job. I’ll let the other guys speak for themselves but for me the choice was as clear as a crystal crown. Warwick Davis will be our new Tyrion Lannister!”

This was of course, an April fools joke, and anyone who actually believed the decision or was upset by it, you need to start checking the dates of this information! The very next day, HBO confirmed the fourth season, and the previous days announcement was confirmed to be false. This comes as no surprise to fans of the show, as it has experienced phenomenal success so far, but it does allow us to breath a sigh of relief. The current season only covers half of one of the books, so we are guaranteed to see the rest of it with Season 4.

The season 3 premiere for Game of Thrones received 4.4 million viewers, and increased to 6.7 after two repeat airings, which marks a record for the series, and has also broke numerous illegal download records as well. In 2012 Game of Thrones was the most illegally download TV Show, and now the new episode had more than 160,000 people access the same torrent at the same time. Breaking the record of 144,663 set by the premiere of the show Heroes. London had the most downloads but it was most popular in good old Australia!

G.I. Joe: Retaliation

The hugely anticipated yet average scoring sequel, hits screens this week and even though the original was very underwhelming, even though it's completely overhyped, and even though the entire script was re-written when Chaning Tatum became more popular (He dies at the beginning in the original story), I'm still keen on seeing this, ever so slightly. The G.I.Joe team is framed, and terminated at the Presidents order, and the surviving members must fight back against the evil Zartan. Nothing special, but the action will undoubtedly be epic and the cast is nothing short of incredible.

Hyde Park on Hudson

A Comedy Drama Biography (because it hoarded all the genres for itself), Hyde Park on Hudson is the story of President Franklin Roosevelt and his love affair with his distant cousin Margaret "Daisy" Suckley, during a visit from the King and Queen of the UK. No joke, this movie is about an incestual affair happening under the same roof as the Royal Family for a weekend. It's recieved mixed reviews internationally, many critics claiming that not a lot actually happens in the movie, that you don't get any more of an insight into the time, the people, the place etc. But undoubtedbly there are people out there that this would be important to and would hold meaning. If you're one of those, go see it. Personally I don't understand the appeal at all, if I'm going to sit and watch "kissing cousins" in any fashion, I'd rather watch Arrested Development.

Return to Nim's Island

OH GOD THEY MADE ANOTHER ONE?! I couldn't sit through the first one, I tried to for my little sister as she enjoyed it and wanted me to watch it with her, but after 10 minutes we switched it off and put on Iron Man instead (which she loved). I'm reasonably sure, that this is a straight to DVD release internationally, as the rest of the world are well and truly over Bindi Irwin like most of you should be to. Nonetheless Nim's Island is about a kid who likes animals... and lives on an island with some to research with her father... OH NO! Bad guys land on the island and want to capture the animals, so in a truly original fashion, while she is "Home Alone" with her friends they fend for the island and fight for the animals freedom..... I can't even bring myself to finish this paragraph about the movie, send your little brothers or sisters in to see it and wait in the car, you'll have more fun that way!

Rust and Bone

Your foreign movie for the week, Rust and Bone follows the story of a man taking his son to live with his sister and her family, their bonds grow deeper once his sister is involved in a terrible accident. Yeah it's foreign, yeahhhhh its a drama, but the cast is pretty decent anyway. Marion Cotillard (hot-hotototot-hothot) does an amazing job in her natural tongue and the film has already won 14 awards. Clearly not a movie for everyone, but if you're a film buff or you're into your foreign films this is definitely one to check out.

The Host

I must admit, the trailer did nearly win me over on this one. I was fully aware that The Host was also written by Stephanie Myer, writer of the "Razzie Award Winning Franchise" Twilight or more commonly known as One girls choice between necrophilia and beastiality. The trailer is not bad.... That's all I feel comforatble saying. It started pretty intriguing, visuals look good enough and there seems to be a whole lot of action involved to, but then BAM would you look at that, it's going to be more of Meyer's particular style of shitty romance. We aren't lining up for this one, but who knows, enough people liked Twilight despite it being a steaming pile of (insert filthy word here), maybe lightning will strike twice.

The Croods

Yup, go see it. I got to check this out at an advanced screening last weekend and I loved the movie. The Croods is about a prehistoric family journeying across their world in the hopes of finding a new, safe home, dealing with modern day family troubles on the way. It's a fantastic return to form for Nick Cage, having starred in some absolute shockers lately (Ghost Rider 2, Drive Angry) and some truly great performances from the rest of the cast too. Dreamworks Animation is simply amazing in this movie, and I reccomend watching it in the 3D version, to experience the full effect.

Did The Croods rock our world? Or should they have stayed in their cave...

*Disclaimer*: I LOVE ANIMATED MOVIES. Dreamworks and Pixar have long been two of my favourite studios, simply because of the abundance of animated movies coming from either of them at any given time, there's always a fantastic animated movie in the cinema. I heard about The Croods pretty early in development, and was more than a bit excited with the trailers that was released so far. I was lucky enough to see the movie at an advanced screening this weekend, and my family was lucky enough for me to take them along too.

In prehistoric times, when the world itself is changing and everything is new again, one family manage to survive by remembering their fathers simple rules, always be afraid, never leave the cave, and new is bad. Meet The Croods. Protective and narrow minded (not surprising with a Neanderthal brain) father Grug (Nicholas Cage) and his loving wife Ugga (Catherine Keener), Ugga's mother and bane of Grugs existence Gran (Cloris Leachman), and the family's three children, baby Sandy (Randy Thom), thick-headed son Thunk (Clark Duke) and eldest daughter Sandy (Emma Stone). They're just your ordinary family, the son tries to live up to his dad, the dad's never good enough for the gran, and the eldest child is having some issues with her dad and their living arrangement. It would be a normal enough situation, if it weren't for the fact that the world is breaking and crumbling beneath their feet, and their home is destroyed in the chaos. The family meet another, more advanced human Guy (Ryan Reynolds) who is travelling to a safe place away from all the disaster, and much to Grugs unhappiness travel with him to find a new, safe home.

The casting is amazing, each character is fully realised in both voice work and animation and the animators should seriously be applauded for this. The visuals in this movie are absolutely phenomenal, the colourful jungle environments are full of life and the destruction scenes are on such a massive scale, it makes the journey they undergo truly daunting. The film was written and directed by Kirk De Micco (Racing Stripes, Space Chimps) and Chris Sanders (How to Train Your Dragon, Lilo & Stitch), and is actually worth going to see in 3D. It never abuses the fact that its 3D, by throwing items at the screen sporadically and getting cheap thrills that way, instead holding the 3D for more environmental effects, think how Avatar looks when they hit Pandora, that's the type of effect you'll see here to.

Without going into too much detail, the film hits home on many of its themes, the family dramas, the sorrow of losing your home, the realisation that the world is changing with or without you and the cast makes each character incredibly relatable in such an un-relatable environment. It was great to see such a wonderful return to form for Nicholas Cage, after such disappointment with some of his more recent work (Ghost Rider 2, Drive Angry, sadly enough I could go on) and another success for Emma Stone, her recent movies finding her more and more in the spotlight.

The Verdict

Have I mentioned how much I loved this movie yet? No? That's strange, I could of sworn I had but if not - I LOVED THIS MOVIE! Not just because it's an animated movie, I will attempt to review the absolutely dreadful looking Zambezia soon to prove this. No this movie was truly great. It's a warm family movie, full of laughs and some really heart-wrenching moments (I'm not ashamed to admit I had a considerable lump in my throat during some scenes). I didn't think I would see another animated movie that could top How to Train Your Dragon, and The Croods comes dangerously close to doing so.

Done Did Reviews: The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

Did we believe in Magic? Or did we see straight through the trick..

To be perfectly fair, I had little to no hopes for this movie. Yes it has an amazing cast, yes it has an intriguing enough premise, yet as much as the gags in the trailers did crack me up, I was scared that they were the funniest bits and that the rest of the film wouldn't live up to the hype it's own trailer generated. It happens more often than you'd think, sometimes good trailers can make a bad film. But thankfully this is not the case with The Incredible Burt Wonderstone as it sits right at home between movies like Anchorman and Dodgeball.

It's the first feature film to be directed by renown TV director Don Scardino (30 Rock, Law & Order) and one of the many great screenplays by writing duo John Francis Daley and Johnathon Goldstein (Horrible Bosses, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2). The film takes place in Las Vegas and was shot in various familiar places from the town and the strip.

Anton Marvelton (Steve Buscemi) and Burt Wonderstone (Steve Carell) have been best friends and performing partners since they met as children, both believing that becoming magicians would stave off the bullies and get people to love them for a change. Now two of the biggest stage magicians in Las Vegas, the glitz and glamour has corrupted them somewhat, and their show has grown stale. Up and coming street performer Steve Gray, or Brain Rapist (Jim Carey) is stepping up with his stunts and "new" magic. In a move of desperation, Marvelton and Wonderstone attempt to go bigger and better, but due to a lack of preparation (and Burt's enormous ego) the stunt goes badly and ends the duos friendship and partnership. Wonderstone must come to terms with his new "common" life, and with the help of his magicians assistant (Olivia Wilde) and his childhood idol (Alan Arkin), he must believe in the magic again, and save his friendship to save his act.

It's a pretty straight forward plot, with not many twists or surprises throughout, so as good as the story was, it didn't exactly keep you on the edge of your seat. But each character is brought to life excellently by the cast, Carell, Carey, and Buscemi all right at home with this style of comedy. Wonderstone himself is a pompous ass and Steve Carell played the role perfectly, and Jim Carey nailed the "Chris-Angel-Mindfreak" parody character, Steve Gray, it was made for him.

The camerawork and editing is excellent, to the point that some of the tricks and performances are truly breathtaking, even when you know its a scripted, acted scene in a movie. The illusions and effects are really stunning on the big screen, and thankfully they didn't squeeze a 3D version out of it (they could have, I would have hated it, but they could have). The movie squeezes in a few cameos of magicians, and shows a glimpse to the uglier side of stage magic. Besides all the sparkle and wonder there is a serious amount of work and effort put into it.

The Verdict

It's not a perfect movie, to some people it's probably not even an excellent one, but The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is an amusing, heartfelt comedy that deals with people losing sight of who they are, and it's something we can all relate to in one way or another. The critics are being too tough on this film, I'm not quite sure what it is exactly that they were expecting but personally, just as a viewer, it was even more than what I expected and it felt like the jokes would only get funnier the more times you watch through it. How many times have you said the words "I love lamp" or "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood" as you watch it happen? You know if you like this kind of movie or not, and if you do, this is pretty damn good. A movie for anyone who can ignore a few strings or visible trapdoors and just enjoy the magic.

Another fantastic weekend for Disney, as Sam Raimi's Oz the Great and Powerful dominated the top ten for its second week in a row. The movie has already reached the ninth highest earning prequel movie, and so far has racked up a whopping $356,000,000 worldwide.

Sony plans to give you Goosebumps

In Primary School your libraries had them, and now Sony plans to give cinemas Goosebumps too

You either read them avidly, knew about a thousand people who read them constantly, or read them scared out of your mind to friends at sleep-overs (jeez we were lame as kids), the Goosebumps series was a hugely popular book series throughout our generations early years. Starting in 1992 and running until 1997, R.L Stine wrote 62 novels in the course of 5 years, getting first published with Scholastic. The books combined themes of horror, humour and the supernatural to scare and entertain readers young and old.

Deadline has reported that director Rob Letterman is currently in talks with Sony Pictures to direct a Goosebumps feature film. Letterman is already familiar with this type of young-teenage genre previously working on similar projects and more well known for movies such as Shark Tale, Monsters Vs Aliens and Gulliver's Travels.

No word yet on what the movie will consist of or how it will be shot, especially as the series itself never had a continuing plot, more of a collection of individual stories. However it has been reported that Darren Lemke has penned the most recent draft of the screenplay, having previously worked on Jack the Giant Slayer.

Was 21&Over "a night you'll never remember"?

I'll be honest here, I was not planning to go and see this movie in the cinema. I had avoided the trailer and any hype at all for it, and was planning to watch it on DVD release some time in the near future thanks to it's very low scoring reviews so far. However, after heading to the cinema to view it last night, I'm here today to tell you that this movie is an absolute gem, and that if you had even the tiniest inclination to see this movie before reading this review that you should definitely go and see this movie.

I don't like making comparisons, but if I had to compare this movie to anything it would be The Hangover - but 10 or so years younger, which is no surprise as the writing/directing duo of Scott Moore and John Lucas did moth movies. The film gains your curiosity instantly, opening with a shot from 3/4 of the way through the movie that raises a slew of questions that you couldn't even guess the answers to if you tried, and it carries through the plot with a main cast member being out of the picture (although still involved, you'll understand when you see it).

Miller, Casey and Jeff Chang have been best friends since high school, and since going their separate ways for college Miller and Casey decide to surprise Jeff with a visit on his 21st Birthday. When they arrive on the afternoon of his birthday however, they learn that Jeff has a med school interview lined up at 8am the next morning by his control-freak father. Not settling for a boring night, they decide to head out for one birthday drink, to celebrate Jeff's new found adulthood and freedom. As some of you may very well know though, it never ends at one drink. Cue a night full of college shenanigans, rampaging buffalo, rain-dancing chiefs and mobster Latinas and you get an idea for what 21 & Over is all about.

On a more technical note, the film is excellently paced, the hour and a half run time is ideal as the film never sits on any one event for more than it needs to and delivers the next joke without missing a beat. Transitioning between scenes and emotions was also excellent, moving from true "LOL" moments to serious decisions/consequences at the drop of a hat. One such moment at a frat house even managed to do both sides simultaneously, making me burst out laughing while feeling terrible at the same time. For such a smaller budget film it pulled off some amazingly hilarious stunts, and some cringe worthy/face covering slow motion shots that last wayyy too long but never stop being funny.

The movie has a few moments where it suffers from its smaller cast, some of the actors not quite having enough oomph to really sell their roles, but these moments are few and far between and in fact the majority of the acting is heartfelt and believable. From the nerve-filled "boy-meets-girl" moments to the abusive friendships of the main trio, it was easy to see myself or even people I knew reacting exactly the same in those situations.

Verdict

21 & Over kept me thoroughly entertained throughout the entire movie. It's a classic teenage comedy but grown up and in college, many of the jokes and scenes feeling straight out of American Pie or Van Wilder and more still from The Hangover or Due Date. The majority of the cast deliver excellent performances, with only a few ordinary moments for the whole film. Watching the characters deal with friendship, life choices, and self discovery it was easy to relate and even see friends of my own in their roles (conveniently enough two of my close friends are also Asian and Jewish and we abuse the hell out of them for it to). I fully appreciate that middle-aged people or even females of any age may not find the material quite as funny, I sat next to a girl and in front of us there was another man and woman and I couldn't hear the girls laughing over me and the bloke laughing our asses off quite literally.

As is usually the case with movies containing an age in the title, 21 & and Over is a cracking film that I would recommend for anyone who is..... 21 & Over!

Pete's Dragon remake in the works

Deadline reports that Disney has plans to remake the 1977 live action/animated movie Pete's Dragon

It genuinely pains me to think, that some of you out there may not even know this classic Disney film, that it was before your time / after your time / you just missed it due to the sheer number of Disney films on offer. Pete's Dragon was the story of a young orphan boy running from his abusive adoptive parents with his magical dragon Elliot. It was one of the many live action/animation movies that Disney released around this time (Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Mary Poppins) and as usual for the time was a very musical movie.

Deadline has reported that Disney are having David Lowery and his writing partner Toby Halbrooks pen the screenplay for the remake, which is not going to be a musical. At this stage Lowery is also set to direct the remake, having directed much grittier/real movies and shorts in the past.

I have pretty high hopes surprisingly for this movie, as long as the premise of the film doesn't change too much and it maintains the sense of magic that the original had it should be a blast. We can only hope that the recent success of Oz the Great and Powerful will encourage Lowery and Halbrooks to mimic it's innocent/childish humour and magical visuals.

EA Apologizes for SimCity

Feeling sore about the SimCity debacle? A free game is just what you need!

It came as a significant surprise to the industry, when EA's SimCity experienced server and connection issues for their online-only game. LOL, I kid of course. Nobody thought that online-only would be a good move for what is widely considered to be a single player game, look back at the launch of Diablo 3. A great single player game that was flooded with online issues, the inability to play offline causing outrage with fans. It seems that EA did not learn from Blizzards mistake in time, and are now suffering the consequences.

Fans were disappointed with EA's initial response to the issue, merely claiming that the game does not function without constant Internet connection, and that an always connected multiplayer SimCity game is the vision that they had from the start, not the isolated single city experience that fans would be used to. Now, after a modder has proven that offline mode can be managed quite simply, Maxis and EA are attempting to rectify the issue.

Lucy Bradshaw, EA's general manager for Maxis, has released an apology via the company's blog, explaining the reason for needing to be online and addressing the issue formally.

"At Maxis, our studio values dictate that we innovate and create something that is quirky, complex and challenging. Sometimes this bites us in the butt, but our servers are green and we're seeing record numbers of players all online and having a great time."

Bradshaw went on to explain that not having enough server capacity was "dumb" but EA has now increased its server size by 120%. The number of disrupted experiences has actually dropped by roughly 80%, so it should be smooth sailing for players for now.

To make it up to the players that spent their money on the game prior to launch, and were unable to play the game initially as advertised, EA has announced that anyone who registers the game before the 25th of March can choose an Origin game from a list of titles to download for free. That list being;

Dead Space 3
Mass Effect 3
Medal of Honor Warfighter
Need for Speed Most Wanted
Plants VS Zombies
SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition.

Is the gesture too little to late? Many of these games don't retail for much anymore, especially those with any DLC that have been released since they launched, and EA are avoiding many costs and distribution charges by issuing the games through their own Origin server. Or is the gesture enough to quell your gamer rage? Either way, we can only hope that future publishers take note of this spectacle, and that future releases will either have the capacity to handle an always-online game, or that they will abolish the concept completely.

A Good Day To Die Hard

Yeah it's a pretty shameless cash in on the Die Hard series let's face it. I'm not saying that I'm NOT excited for this movie, I love a cheap action flick as much as the next guy, but it is sad to think back to the original John McClane and compare him to now. McClane travels to Russia to help his son Jack (SURPRISE Jack's a CIA operative on a mission) and now father and son must team up against the Russian Underworld.

Hari-Kiri: Death of a Samurai

A movie about a poverty stricken samurai discovering the fate of his ronin son and ending in a showdown. The usual themes of revenge, honour and disgrace that you'd get with most other Eastern flicks. The film actually came out back in 2011 but because we are in Australia we get to wait a ridiculous amount of time for smaller, foreign releases such as this. It was nominated for 5 awards and was met with pretty good review scores. The director is also known for his work on 13 Assassins and the movie adaptation of Ace Attorney.

Jack the Giant Slayer

The movie has already crushed the box office overseas and this week we get to climb the beanstalk here in Australia to. We all know the story of Jack climbing the beanstalk and getting all involved in the Giants business and what not so I wont go into the plot details. The movie had a huge budget and an all-star UK cast behind it so it's really no wonder that it's done so well already. This will definitely be one to check out and Done Did It will share our thoughts on the movie by next week!

Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God

A documentary that follows the story of four deaf men who set out to expose a priest who abused them during the mid-1960's. Each of the men brought forth the first known case of public protest against clerical sex abuse, and lead to a scandal case known as the "Lawrence Murphy case". The film had a limited release during November last year, and HBO has screened it worldwide this year. Obviously not a movie for us, but this is nonetheless a hugely important documentary to people involved with or affected by the scandals.

The Loneliest Planet

Nominated for, and in some cases winning, the best film award at multiple events, The Loneliest Planet is an indie thriller from 2011. The movie follows an engaged American couple backpacking through Eastern European mountains, where they are beset by hardships that make them rethink everything they know about each other and themselves. If you like a good indie film then this is definitely one for you to see this week.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green

A comedy/drama from 2012, Timothy Green is about a childless couple who bury a box in their backyard filled with their wishes and hopes for a child. Soon afterwards, the box is uncovered and a young boy named Timothy has appeared in their lives, claiming the couple as his parents, although Timothy is not all that he appears. The movie had a modest box office run overseas and was met with mixed reviews. This is one to see with your family, or to sit through with one of those "easy-to-cry-girls" as the movie will inevitably get sad and emotional.

In a recent interview with Total Film, screenwriter David Goyer discusses the movies shroud of secrecy

Trailers, leaked details, rewind theatres, insider comments and speculation haunt up and coming movies and games as often as Jew counts his money, a lot. As soon as a movie is announced there are people searching for more information, or analysing trailers and posters to tell us exactly what the movie will contain scene for scene. Of course, this is again the case for Nolan's latest DC film, Man of Steel, the upcoming Superman origin story, but whatever details are known about the movie there are plenty more that we have no idea of.

Screenwriter David Goyer (Batman Trilogy, Blade Trilogy, Ghost Rider 1 & 2) recently spoke with popular magazine Total Film on the secrecy that has been maintained with his latest movie.

"It's something Chris (Nolan) tried hard to do with the Batman films. I'm genuinely pleased with how much secrecy we've been able to maintain. There's so much of the movie that people don't know, that hasn't been touched upon. The trailer's just the tiniest, tiniest tip of the iceberg."

With the June release date drawing nearer there are growing concerns that the involvement of Nolan / Snyder and co puts the film at risk of becoming dark and gritty, much in the same way that the Batman films did.

"Relatable and realistic doesn't necessarily mean dark. I think it would be inappropriate for us to approach a Superman film as if we were doing The Dark Knight. The Batman films are a lot more nihilistic; Superman has always been a story about hope."

RIGHT?! HOW GOOD DOES IT LOOK!?

In a more serious/reporting tone, last week we got to see the announcement teaser for the next game in the Saints Row series, Saints Row IV. The sandbox / gangster game broke new grounds when it was first released on the Xbox 360 back in 2006. It took Grand Theft Auto game play and turned up the crazy notch to eleven. Each iteration of the game has gone even further with its ludicrousness, allowing gamers to wield foot long purple dildos and beat civilians to a pulp, and even taking us into virtual reality in an homage to Tron.

The series was developed by Voilition and produced by THQ for the first three games, but now with the bankruptcy of THQ, it has been sold to Deep Silver, more commonly known for Dead Island. If the teaser trailer is anything to go off, it looks like Deep Silver and Voilition haven't lost the insanity touch. Tron bikes, super powers, futuristic gun play, giant energy drink monsters, they're not exactly things you'd usually see side by side in a game but if this game lives up to its predecessors it should somehow or another make sense in the plot, and be an absolute blast of a time to play.

The game has a release date of August 20th for the US and the rest of us can get it August 23rd, 2013.

The Top 10 weekend earners at the Australian Box Office, for the weekend of March 07-10

Two new movies opened to the top spots for this month, Oz the Great and Powerful and 21 and Over have made positions first and second respectively in the first set of Box Office Weekend Results for March. They did, however, take a lot of traffic away from our other openers, Oz made over 55% of the total earnings for the top ten table this week. Cloud Atlas is still clinging to the top ten, spending its second weekend in the lower half.

Even More Horrible Bosses

Sudekis, Day and Batemen have all signed on to return for Horrible Bosses 2

All three main characters from the first Horrible Bosses Jason Sudekis, Charlie Day and Jason Batemen have all signed on to return for the sequel due to start filming later this year. Both John Francis Daley and Jonathon Goldstein, the writers of the original, are also back on board to pen the screenplay, and director Seth Gordon will also be back.

The team are currently in negotiations with Jamie Foxx to reprise his role as "Motherfucker Jones", and no word yet as to whether or not any other cast members are making an appearance. Cameos from Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Anniston are both possible, but a Collin Farrel is much less likely if you think back to the original.

The boys will be reprising their roles from the original, and are reportedly up against a whole new roster of bosses, even more horrible than before. Nothing more is known of the new plot, as the film is still early in production, and no release date has been announced as of yet. Keep an eye out for more updates as we learn more!

The Done Did It Household are wrapped up in an epic struggle to see which housemate will be crowned the victor!

Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is a crazy good game. Albeit a few changes that would make it more similar to generations we all genuinely love this instalment. Just as we have done with the last game, we play single VS battles constantly with each other, keeping a tally to see who the better player of us is. But with such a huge character roster, we started to find that we were repeating characters that we were already familiar with, and we were missing out on the new cray cray characters that were available.

In a bid to fix this, Jew, Murray and Welsh, decided to initiate a housemate league to play through every character. The matches would be held one on one in a round format, each of us choosing one character to play each round of battles. Each character variation can only be chosen once, and after deciding the picking order this is the matches that we have scheduled.

Digital Comic Distributor overloaded from Marvel #1 Promotion

Digital comic distributor Comixology recently announced the launch of the Marvel #1 promotion... and then its postponement

It's always a shame when things don't work out quite how you plan, and in the case of Comixology, it's a shame for a lot of people. The digital comic distributor has over 30,000 comics to choose from and as of October 2012 has reached over 100 million comic downloads since being founded in 2007. Unfortunately the site itself wasn't designed to manage 100 million downloads at once, or at least the quantity seemed that high when they launched the Marvel #1 promotion.

At the 2013 South by South West conference, Marvel announced it's Marvel #1 promotion which would allow comic veterans and newcomers alike to download over 700 marvel #1 issues for free during a limited period of time, off of the Comixology apps and website. Unfortunately due to technical issues, the distributor has been unable to keep up with demand, and had to release the following message, explaining the postponement of the promotion shortly after it's launch.

To our customers:

It’s been a whirlwind weekend, and we’re fresh from SXSW where Marvel Comics launched their Marvel #1 promotion featuring over 700 free comics distributed via our platform.

We expected a high degree of excitement for the Marvel initiative – and had believed ourselves prepared – but unfortunately we became overwhelmed by the immense response. We’re still struggling to keep our systems up.

The result is that you aren’t getting your comics when and where you want.

Shelock Star hints at Fourth Season

In a recent interview with Radio Times, Benedict Cumberbatch has revealed plans for a fourth Sherlock season

It was widely believed that the soon-to-be-filmed season 3 of BBC's Sherlock would be the last season for the series. Creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss revealed three words that correlate in some way to the three episodes, "rat, wedding, bow". Moffat himself teased that the words "may be misleading, are not titles, are only teases or possible clues, but might be deliberately designed to get you into a lather." Once the words were analysed relentlessly by fans it was assumed that the word "bow" referred to the final Sherlock Holmes story written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and that with the increasing popularity of its two lead actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, this would be the final season.

Yesterday afternoon, however, while speaking with Radio Times, Cumberbatch revealed possible plans for a fourth season.

"We've agreed to do two more series but I could get in trouble for saying that. All I know at the moment is I'm doing these three (episodes of the current season) and another three."

Cumberbatch went on to say that he would love the show to go above and beyond the four seasons that he has currently agreed to, but of course that depends on the availability of co-star Martin Freeman and writer Steven Moffat who are both in high demand at this stage.

The current season (third) is set to film the series until Freeman needs to break for The Hobbit re shoots, and then continue production in the remainder of the year, but as yet there is no set date for the shows return.

Moffat spoke about the due date for the next series in another interview with Radio Times:

"Get used to a bit of starvation. We're making movies - those six films (season 1 and 2) we've made could go in the cinema. You can't factory produce that - it's a different kind of show. So when we're good and ready - it won't be that long - but when we're ready, you'll get the follow up."

Considering the nearly two year gap between series one and two, it's understandable there will be a wait involved for the next instalment, and with reasoning such as Moffat's it's almost impossible to argue. It could always be worse though, at least it's not a 10-20 year wait like we could see in the future, as Moffat also discussed plans to come back to the show about 20 years after it ends.

"I fondly imagine it'd be nice to stop it for a while and come back and see what they're like in their 40's or 50's. Because normally these two characters are portrayed in their 50's. So we're at the beginning. It might be interesting in a couple of decades when they come back and we see what they're like."

So with all their other projects and responsibilities, there is no shortage of thought and effort still going into the Sherlock series, and we at Done Did It are still looking forward to the next season as much as we were almost a year and a half ago!

Ridley Scott joins Machinima

Machinima announce Ridley Scott and Associates partnership for 12 Short Sci-fi Films

Veteran director Ridley Scott, has signed on with Machinima to produce 12 short science fiction films, to be distributed through the Machinima network. Scott wont be directing the movies himself though, instead handing over the reigns to Ridley Scott and Associates where Scott and Machinima will select Directors for the shorts from their ranks which include many up and coming Directors such as Neil Blogkamp (District 9) and Sam Mendes (Skyfall).

Ridley has his own experience in this genre of short films, being the director of the 2012 short film Ghost Recon: Alpha, a prequel to the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier game franchise which received reasonably high scores from critics and gamers alike.

"With new media transforming the way audiences connect with films and filmmakers, Machinima is a great partner for us as we embark on this new model of delivering original content to fans." Scott released in a recent statement. "It's a tremendous opportunity for pushing the creative boundaries for both our filmmakers and the audience."

Co-Founder and CEO of Machinima Inc, Allen DeBevoise released the following statement on the project.

"Partnering with Ridley Scott to work with his talented directors shows Machinima's dedication to going above and beyond in delivering quality original content for our audience to embrace. By combining this unique incubation model together with our powerful partnership of established creative talent and scaled distribution to millions on Machinima, we believe new sci-fi franchises will be born."

Making the short films for Machinima will allow the RSA directors to experiment with new ideas and stories, thanks to the cost-efficient, smaller format of the shorts. Should any of the ideas take off and make it big, any further iterations would be made by RSA along with Machinima.

A great move on Machinima's behalf, the channel already bringing us great shorts and features. A Mortal Kombat series that was released in tandem with the most recent MK game found immense success through the on line channel, a teaser can be seen above. It's exciting to think that we could see a whole slew of Machinima produced shorts and series later in the year, and that this could even spur on other channels to undergo similar projects.

Done Did It Movies of March - Week 2

It's the second week of March so what do we have coming to our theatres Thursday the 14th?

A very well rounded batch of releases this week! We have an action, a horror, a sci-fi thriller, a comedy, a rom-com, and a drama to carry us through to next week, the pick of the litter for us obviously being The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. Jim Carey, Olivia Wilde, Alan Arkin, Steve Buscemi and Steve Carell, just wow, what a cast. The movie has already got great scores internationally, and from looking at the trailer it looks like a winner for sure.

A Late Quartet

Also known as Performance, the movie shows the story of a renown string Quartet as it struggles with it's oldest member retiring due to Parkinson disease. The group finds a growing resentment rising to the surface, as the group is almost torn apart despite their 25 years of success. The movie is said to be slow at times, but hey what do you expect with content like this. Nonetheless the performance are fantastic and the film itself is great for anyone with an appreciation for Classical Music.

Dark Skies

"From the makers of Paranormal Activity and Insidious"

If you liked either of those films go check it out, if not then read up on this one first as it still may work for you...

A small suburban family is rocked by a series of increasingly disturbing supernatural events, and learns that a dark and terrible force is after them.

The reviews are average, but it's an old school slow building horror movie, that delivers on the frights after making you care for the characters. Our hopes aren't too high but we will definitely be taking a look at this one.

Goddess

"Elspeth Dickens dreams of finding her "voice" despite being stuck in an isolated farmhouse with her two toddlers. A web-cam becomes her pathway to fame and fortune, but at a price."

Are you a mum? Are you Australian? Do you read Womans Day? You'll love this movie. B-grade celebs acting in a small budget, Australian produced story of a house mum finding fame.... No offence meant to anyone of course, but we're not lining up to see this one.

Mama

A couple are tasked with caring for their two nieces, after they were left alone in the forest for 5 years, but just how alone were they?

Mama has already been released internationally and while it's received a moderate critical success, the viewer reports are much higher. The film is said to have a very original vision and a fantastic performing cast. The build up and hype online for this movie has been staggering, and Done Did It will have our own review up for this shortly.

Parker

Frenzied editing, Brutal fight scenes, Crazy Shoot-outs, cheap action. Sound familiar? Of course it does it sounds just like every other Jason Statham action movie, but that's not necessarily a bad thing... as all of us here absolutely love those movies, Transporter, Crank, you name it!

Jason Statham plays a veteran thief with a personal code to not steal from the poor, who is double crossed on a job. Forming an unlikely alliance with a woman on the inside, Parker plans to steal the score of the crews last job for revenge. It's probably worth watching this at the movies for the huge action scenes, so typical of a Statham movie.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

BOOYAH! We've been looking forward to this one for such a long time now, and we will be getting in to see this as soon as possible! Veteran Stage Magicians Burt Wonderstone and his stage partner Anton Marvelton are at risk of losing their spotlight when an up and coming street magician Steve Gray makes their show stale. Burt and Anton must save their show, save their friendship, and remember what made them love magic in the first place.

3 movies enter the top ten for their debut weekend, Cloud Atlas had a relatively slow opening weekend, earning just over $350,000 and ending in tenth place. Side Effects bumped up Silver Linings to get third place, but it was the romantic comedy I Give It a Year that got the top spot this time, the UK movie making just short of $1.5 million despite its average review score.

The biggest surprise for us is the poor performance of Cloud Atlas. The movie just looks amazing, and we are stunned that more people (including us) hasn't gone to see it yet. Take a look at the extended trailer above, and come see it with us this week when we go see it, an epic story that spans across multiple generations and time periods with an all-star cast, how could it not be great right?

Praise Jesus Navas, the trailer for the third and final part of The Hangover trilogy is released and it looks nothing short of amazing

Since May 2011, when director Todd Phillips first announced plans for a third instalment in The Hangover series, just days before the release of Part 2, we have been clamouring for more information, thirsting for a teaser, yet we only found out casting details and plot teasers.

Mike Tyson and Heather Graham will be reprising their roles from the first movie, as the guys support Alan after a family crisis. Reportedly, the plot will have the wolf pack reuniting, to break Alan out of a mental hospital, and that "something from their past will be back to haunt them."

But finally, the day has come where we get a glimpse of what Part 3 has in store for us, as yesterday afternoon the movies Facebook page put up the first official trailer.

Yeah... it looks freaking amazing! Some big cameos are hinted at in the trailer, John Goodman and Melissa McCarthy both make an appearance, with Ken Jeong returning in an expanded role this time around. Good things come in three's, and with a release date of May 24th, we don't have long to wait to see if this next instalment will carry on the success of the first two movies. If the trailer is anything to go by, Part 3 looks much bigger, much better, and much more badass!
