The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, known to most Americans as “The Stimulus Bill” contains a provision that requires the United States Treasury to give out what are known as 1603 Grants to home and business owners who make improvements to their respective structures that include any use of renewable technology. Created mainly to encourage development in solar energy and wind power, these grants are also available for natural gas conversions and HVAC installations, if they fit the criteria. The 1603 program provides, according to their own definition, “Payments for Specified Energy Property in Lieu of Tax Credits”.

The exact eligibility of a Potomac home or business owner needs to be discussed with your installer and the person who prepares your taxes. There are also tax rebates available on both the state and federal levels and you may be able to take advantage of a manufacturers rebate on top of all of that.
