I'm currently watching Arsenal V Everton. It's 2 minutes in the second half and it's 4-0 to Arsenal. It's totally amazing. It's like Everton's defence has gone to the pub already! Lescott has other things on his mind it seems, and his partner in crime Yobo seems to be following any player like a lost puppy. It's embarrassing for Everton and especially David Moyes. What are his players thinking!!

Arsenal are playing their little socks off! I really didn't expect Arsenal to play like this, but then again it is the first game of the season, so i'll have to wait until January to pass judgement on Arsene's Youth Project, but so far so good.

Debate: The English Premier League

What's gone wrong with the English Premier League. Some people will say nothing. But i beg to differ. Call me an old fashioned fart, but when i used to watch the Premier League back in the late 80's (which was fashionably called Division 1.....Liverpool were winning everything except The European Cup (now the Champions League) because English clubs were banned from European competitions because of the Hysel stadium disaster. Anyway......Liverpool were winning at least one trophy a season, Man UTD were nowhere to be found, Arsenal were rising up, Chelsea.....don't make me laugh LOL!!

The Division 1 was made up of players mainly from the UK, we a few foreigners, but it was a British division. In the late 80's there were talks of a breakaway league, and the top five clubs at the time all voted for it, the clubs being Liverpool, Man UTD, Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham.(told you Chelsea was in no-ones minds!) That league would eventually become the Premier League. Glorious moneybags Premier League. Since then we've seen the same old teams win the major trophies. There have been a few surprises along the way like Blackburn winning the Prem title in '95........Newcastle giving Man UTD a run for their money in the '96-'97 campaign. There have only been 4 winners since the Prem began in '92-'93, Man UTD winning 11 titles, Arsenal winning 3, Chelsea winning 2 and Blackburn winning 1. Now you could say that it's the same as Liverpool winning almost everything in the 80's, to some degree yes, but the money wasn't there when it was Division 1.

I don't think it's the clubs that's ruining football, it's the greedy league chiefs at the FA and Prem League!!
If the FA are so concerned about the state of English football, that there's not enough talent coming through the ranks of clubs to play at the highest level, then they should tell Platini and UEFA to F**k off and implement the foreigner rule, where a club can only have 3 foreigners in the starting 16 (11+5 subs), and can only buy 1 foreigner per season. And the owners of the clubs has to be from British. This is the only way to be fair, and at the same time make sure England national team will get the stars they're looking for in the future. I don't want to see foreign talent banished from the Premier League, whether be a manager, a coach or a player, but we need stricter rules for English football to survive. And to show i'm not prejudiced, i think every league in the world should do this, it will make the owners and managers be more careful with their money, and make them think a little harder. See who has what it takes to be called a top manager.

Wenger: Kids to win the title.

Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger says his Young Guns can take the title this season amidst criticism of the squad being too young and doesn't have experience.
He talked about why he turned down the chance to manage Kaka, Ronaldo and Co. The reason......his Youth Project that he has going on at Arsenal.

He said: "I felt if I left I would have in some way betrayed my beliefs. "It was nothing to do with Real Madrid, it was about Arsenal.
"I knew what Real were about to do but I have a project here that I started four years ago. I could not leave at this stage of their development.
"To talk of winning the League is an audacious statement but I built this team and I want to deliver with this team. "At 22 or 23 a team is mature enough to deliver."

I am impressed with Wenger for what he's doing at Arsenal, but when is it going to fruition?, He hasn't won a thing since Pat Vieira left for Juve in 2005. In these times where there is so much pressure in football, no matter what division you're playing in, i'm surprised he still works at Arsenal!

I do applaud him for the youth project, but he has so many foreigners in that squad it is sad for English football. A club like Arsenal was known for it's good English players back in the late 80's early 90's, at one point in time the Arsenal defence was the English national team defence, and now since Wenger took over way back in the mid 90's, the production of English players from that club has fizzled to nothing.

Liverpool and Chelsea are to blame too. Even to some extent Man UTD are in the same boat with these offenders. And England fans wonder why England can't win a major trophy. This is the reason, and until Prem bosses wise up to this and the English FA grow some balls and implement the foreigner rule, it will be the same for season's to come.

Aguero a Chelsea target.....who isn't?

Chealsea are planning a 42 million pound bid for Athletico Madrid's star Sergio Aguero because owner Roman Abramovich wants to have a major name in the list of players signed by Chelsea this season.
Madrid will play in a Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos this Wednesday, and it looks like the Spaniards will tell Chelsea that they either have to match the 50 million pound asking price or forget about the whole deal.
Chelsea's offer for the 21 year old Argentine would surpass Man City's 32.5 million pound signing of Robinho which is still a British record.

Ancelotti said: "The market finishes on August 31 and if there is some possibility to improve the squad we can do it."

I guess Ancelotti's a happy camper now that he's in a club where finances are not a worry, not like Milan where he had to sell a player to buy a player.
Seriously, where would they play him. Is Ancelotti going to sell 2/3 players to accommodate his new boys, or is it the case of past seasons where it's all buy buy buy and then players complain about not being in the starting lineup.
If that's the case (again) it will be his downfall eventually. I don't think Chelsea will win anything this season (Community Shield doesn't count in my books)

Sir Alex to Rafa Benitez: You won't win the title.

Okay, i want this to happen. Alex to dress up as Goku, and Rafa as fat Majin Buu, just like the characters from Dragonball Z go to Wembley and just fight it out. Who do you think would win?
Right, back to football.........Sir Alex has told Rafa that his team have no chance winning the title from them this season.
Ferguson said Ancelotti's Chelsea is his main worry for this season.

Fergie said: "It will be hard for them to match last season, let alone improve on it. Other teams will know more about them."

Liverpool came a close second to United last season, but Ferguson wasn't stressed.

He went on to say: "Liverpool had probably their best season for 20 years and still finished four points adrift.
"It has to be Chelsea as the main threat. Ancelotti will change how they play.
"They will play the Milan way. It brought him two European Cups - it should have been three, because they should never have lost to Liverpool. So why should he change?"
He added: "The thrust of their team is all about Gerrard and Torres."

Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City had just better step back and watch Man Utd do it again. Remember in the early 90's when UTD were winning everything, it was either Fergie or Wenger lifting trophies, well it's that time again, only Arsenal won't be anywhere near a trophy this season again.
Although i don't really like Ferguson, i have to applaud him in what he's done at Man Utd over the last 20 years.

No walk on the Bridge for Pirlo

AC Milan have proven that they're not playing around when it comes to Pirlo. Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has told Chelsea that the star midfielder will finish his career at the San Siro. Although Pirlo, 30, is only under contract until 2012, so i really don't think he'll be finishing Milan, but anyway.....
Owner Berlusconi had talks with manager Leonardo and VP Galliani to decide on Pirlo's future.

He said: "Andrea Pirlo has been taken off the market. He will stay with us and finish his career at Milan.
"You know that Andrea Pirlo was wanted by Chelsea with a suitable economic offer.
"We also talked with the player and we decided to accept Leonardo's request to keep Pirlo."

Even with Pirlo staying Milan will not win the Serie A title this year. Ronaldinho, Pato, Pirlo, Gattuso and co will not be good enough to lift the Seriea title next may.

No excuses for Rafa this time around.

There should be no excuses this time around for Liverpool not scoring this season. They should have adequate firepower to put a dent in Man UTD's domination of the Premier League. Voronin and David Ngog scored a goal each as Rafa's Reds coasted past Norwegian side Lyn Oslo.
Critics have stated their confusion and disappointment at the Kop boss for not finding a quick replacement for Robbie Keane, who Rafa sent him back to White Hart Lane in January. But they almost have Aquilani's signature to add to the strikers list.

But Voronin, who was on loan last season with Hertha Berlin, showed he can be the top gun with the opener on half time.
It doesn't matter whether Rafa plays 1 striker or plays four strikers goal-hanging, his problem is the defence. Hypia has gone, Carragher is iffy. It's like Milan, they're concentrating on attack but where's the defence?
I was told as a boy from my gym teacher....."always play with a defensive mentality, you'll always get at least 1 point."

Liverpool are on the verge of signing Roma's Alberto Aquilani after the Italian side accepted an offer of 20 million pounds.

Rafa the Gaffa has wasted no time in securing this deal after Xabi Alonso is finalizing his 30 million pound transfer to Real Madrid.

A statement on Liverpool's website read: "Liverpool FC today confirmed they have agreed a deal with AS Roma for the transfer of Italian international Alberto Aquilani, subject to a medical. "Liverpool concluded their discussions with Roma once the sale of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid was finally agreed."

Aquilani, 25, is expected to be one of the main men for Italy in next year's World Cup in south Africa.

Boss Benitez said: "Alberto is a very good player and I'm delighted we've reached agreement with Roma for his transfer. He will travel to Merseyside later this week for a medical. Alberto has a winning mentality and great experience in both Serie A and the Champions League.
"He has long been recognised as a top class talent in Italy, captaining his country at both Under-19 and Under-21 levels before establishing himself in the senior national side."

It is amazing how Liverpool can be in so much debt, just like Arsenal and Manchester United, but yet tend to spend more than the other two clubs. How is this possible?
Plans for a new stadium were scrapped, debts were rising so much that one co-owner had to sell his hockey team, but yet Rafa goes on a spending spree again.
I can see why some Chairmen of football clubs want control in the transfer part of their clubs footballing life.

Bayern 4 Milan 1

WOW! Bayern thumped AC Milan 4-1 in the Audi Cup. That causes some serious concern. I understand that Milan played in the US as pre-season frendlies, but please.......what the hell is Milan doing?? I wish Berlusconi would just appoint his old boys back as coaches and scouts. His old boys being Franco Baresi, Frank Rijkaard, Ruud Gullit, Marco Van Basten and ask Poalo Maldini to be a defense coach.

I have a confession. I like to see Milan win, but this isn't the way to do it. Leonardo was a good player but i don't think he has the managerial qualities like coaches i mentioned. It's like Galliani is happy as long as any body is in the hot seat, not the right body.
I hope Milan can surprise me this season, but i fail to see them even making it into the Europa League this time around.

Vieira set to return to Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has seen his 'youth project' come to nothing, not one trophy since 2005. And that was when Patrick Vieira left for Juventus.
It's strange to see Arsene being humbled by his own policy. I don't know about you but i knew as soon as Vieira left Arsenal there was going to be trouble for Wenger. I'm not saying that Wenger is a stupid man, far from it, but why would you take a chance on all these young players when you have half the team as youth and the other half older. Ferguson has the right balance and i think that's why he's so successful. He puts 2 or 3 youth players in with the older and experienced players and he wins trophy after trophy. Arsene has found the one player that he has to bow down to, and not the player bowing down to him.

Toure: No leadership at Arsenal

Man City new boy Kolo Toure says Wenger's lack of squad strengthening made him decide to quit the Gunners. The new Blue Boy recently transferred from Arsenal for 16 million pounds said that Arsenal's reliance on youth means that they lack in leadership and experience that is needed in the Premiership.

"When you look at Arsenal you see all the great players have left and are now in the past, Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Ray Parlour have gone. We lost too many leaders at Arsenal." said the 28-year-old.

Arsenal changed their captain last season William Gallas to Cesc Fabregas after Gallas made comments about this team-mates. Toure was the last of Arsenal's 'immortals' ......the team that went through the whole of the '03-'04 season unbeaten, but seemed to have snubbed the captaincy.

Tore added "Players like Henry, Vieira and Parlour that brought success to Arsenal have all gone and I believed it was right at this stage of my career to also move on,"when we were winning the league the spirit was fantastic, we were like a band of brothers."

So Toure stays at a club that is winning, but yet loyalty is out of the window for the manager who had faith in you to pay your wages. It's so sad.
I totally agree with Toure about Arsene's youth project, he needs to find the right balance like he had in 2003.
But even with Arsenal not winning a trophy since 2005, what has Man City won? Does Toure really think that a trophy of some sort will be heading to Eastlands? No, i don't think there will be.

Robson...a legend.

It's always sad to read about legends passing on, but even more so about Sir Bobby Robson. Robson was, and still is the only manager to take England the farthest in a World Cup on foreign soil. Robson had great passion for football, he was a winner with Barcelona and Porto. He was just a legend in his own right. He was respected by managers and players all over the world, and loved by England fans.
Sir Alex Ferguson said this about Robson:

"I was never too big or proud to ask him for advice which he gave freely and unconditionally. And I'm sure I am speaking for a lot of people when I say that.
"In my 23 years working in England there is not a person I would put an inch above Bobby Robson. I mourn the passing of a great friend, a wonderful individual, a tremendous football man and somebody with passion and knowledge of the game that was unsurpassed.
"His character was hewn out of the coal face, developed by the Durham mining background that he came from. His parents instilled in him the discipline and standards which forged the character of a genuinely colossal human being. He added his own qualities to that which then he passed on to his sons.
"The strength and courage he showed over the past couple of years when battling against his fifth bout of cancer was indescribable. Always a smile, always a friendly word with never a mention of his own problems.
"The world, not just the football world, will miss him. Let's hope it won't be long before another like him turns up because we could never get enough of them."

Pirlo stays at Milan

AC Milan have rejected a seven million pound bid from Chelsea for Andrea Pirlo. Basically Milan's vice president Galliani told former Milan manager (now Chelsea manager) Ancelotti to take a hike because the offer was too low for Galliani's liking.

Galliani said'The offer of seven million pounds plus Claudio Pizarro is not satisfactory...under these conditions Pirlo is not for sale,'Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.

So what Galliani's really saying is........give us another 56 million and he's yours. And they still won't win Lo Scudetto.

Juventus 2 Real Madrid 1

So Juventus beat Real Madrid in the Peace Cup semi final by 2 goals to 1. Even though reports are saying Real failed to live up to expectations, they did leave out major players like new boys Raul Albiol, Kaka, Alvaro Arbeloa, and even existing players Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos.
It's only pre-season and i suspect some players didn't play their best, or was told to take it easy by their managers. Karim Benzema played for 71 minutes until he was substituted with fellow striker Gonzalo Higuain. Overall i sense that Juventus will be in the top four in Serie A yet again come next may, and i predict Real to be runners up again to Barcelona. With all their buying power, i just can't see them winning La Liga.

Mourinho: Inter fans didn't like Ibrahimovic

Inter manager Jose Mourinho has took a stab at transfer bound Ibrahimovic, stating that he was never liked by the Inter fans.
Ibra is set to go to Barcelona, and Sammy Eto'o coming to Inter, and Mourinho said that Inter fans will have more affection for Eto'o than Ibrahimovic. Mourinho goes on to say the deal that is set up...Ibrahimovic in swap for Eto'o, cash AND Hleb on loan, is an incredible one.

I have two questions to this.

1. Who's making way for Hleb and Eto'o
2. Why doesn't Mourinho seem to be in control of the transfers?

I could never be a manager of a club who doesn't trust my opinion on who stays and who doesn't. Some people gave Kevin Keegan shit for resigning from Newcastle because of the Director of Football Dennis Wise crap. But at least he spoke out and basically said F**k You.
At least someone's got the guts to.
My prediction: Eto'o a hit....Ibrahimovic a BIG miss. Looks like Guardiola will be crying in his beer on this occasion.

Franz is furious!

Franz Beckenbauer has aimed angry words at Franck Ribery, saying that Ribery has used Bayern to make a name for himself. Beckenbauer questioned Ribery's loyalty to Bayern, after Ribery stated that he would have liked to join Real Madrid this summer.

Beckenbauer said "Ribery only came here to make a name for himself," Beckenbauer was quoted by the Bild newspaper as saying at a benefit evening on Saturday night.
"He doesn't give a damn about Munich."

Ribery can leave Munich next season because of the pathetic FIFA rule.....article 17, which allows a player under the age of 28 to walk away from a club after three years of his contract. So if Bayern don't sell Ribery between now and next April, they will get no money for the French International if he decides to leave next summer.

The clubs should be able to sue the players if they break the contact, or there should be a rule, stating that if you sign a four year contract with a club, that's it, you're there until the time's up.
But, i want to protect the players too.
Once the player signs that contract he cannot request a transfer, nor can the club sell him. If he doesn't like it, he can rot in the reserves, but also the player if fit, has to be able to play in the first team for at least half the season.

I think this way we'll cut out all the bullshit of transfer chaos.
Any suggestions on how to make it better?

Sir Alex Feguson has lashed out at Man City over the city billboard with a picture of Carlos Tevez with it reading "Welcome to Manchester".
He said that Man City "are a small club with a small mentality".
With Mark Hughes trying to empty the City money pot as fast as his bosses can fill it, Ferguson has been relatively quiet in the transfer market.
Hughes has bought in Adebayor from Arsenal, Barry from Aston Villa, Santa Cruz from Blackburn and Tevez, who left United for City.

Ferguson was speaking at a press conference in China claimed that Adebayor had attempted to sign for Manchester United before committing to City.

"When someone offers you that kind of money, it is a big attraction," said Ferguson. "That is the reason they have gone there.
"At the last minute, from what I can gather, either Emmanuel Adebayor or his agent phoned us after they had agreed a deal with City and then did the same with Chelsea. He was desperate to get to either Chelsea or us."

A happy threesome at Portsmouth

Harry Redknapp will sign Peter Crouch. Redknapp's old club Portsmouth have accepted a 10 million pound offer for the gangly striker, and he's about to rejoin former team-mate DeFoe and former boss Redknapp. Crouch will sign a five year deal.
Although Redknapp last week said the fee would be too much for Spurs, the deal has gone through.

He said at the time: "I just feel that for that type of money it is an awful lot of money. It is an expensive deal because there is no return on it.
"I don't know whether it is possible for us to do that type of deal. It is an expensive deal. The whole package looks expensive."

Portsmouth could also offload more players even though Sulaiman Al Fahim's takeover of the Premiership side is almost complete, but there will be no spending sprees.

"It's important everybody understands that we have to cut our cloth," Hart, who has been appointed on a permanent basis, told BBC Radio 5 Live. "The days of £20m buys are over in the short-term, but maybe not longer-term."

Terry: I'm staying at Chelsea

Ok, the saga goes on.....John Terry has pledged his future to Chelsea..for now.
It was reported on Thursday that Terry still wanted to talk to Man City about a possible move to Eastlands. But now Terry wants to stay at Chelsea......WATCH OUT!!....THERE GOES MORE MONEY FLYING FROM ABRAMOVICH'S WALLET!

Even when Terry was unsure of his role and his future at Chelsea, Abramovich AND Ancelotti insisted that Terry wasn't for sale. But Terry insists that there's no way he's joining City, and there was never any possibility. If you say so John.
I guess only time will tell if Terry means it this time. Who does he really play for?....the Blues or the Greens??

LA Galaxy God Beckham has been proven to be a liar. What a surprise! Beckham said of the taunts at the Galaxy game with Milan, in which a fan got out of his seat to confront Beckham, after Beckham motioned the fan to come down to the pitch, in which Beckham said he just wanted to "shake the fans' hand". But extra footage of that scene shows a different story. Thanks to footage from The News Of The World newspaper, it shows Beckham saying more than asking to shake the fans' hand.

Man City are Prem. Champions!

Jose Mourinho is supporting Man City to win the Premier League next season. Mourinho 'won' two titles with Chelsea, and is convinced Mark Hughes' team will be crowned champions next May.

Mourinho said: "Adebayor up front with Carlos Tevez - unbelievable! And they have Roque Santa Cruz and Robinho too. What a strike force! That's it, City are champions for sure."
He added: "It's not buying the title. You buy the players you think can do the job but you still need to prove you are the best - the best coach, the best team and that's tough and no amount of money can buy that."

Mourinho stated that he doesn't care what happens with the John Terry affair because it's not his club. Nicely put.

Maybe Jose knows that his comments will get a rise out of Sir Alex, other than that, like he says...he's at Inter so what does he care?
And just because City have Adebayor, Robinho, Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz, doesn't mean anything. Three could get seriously injured, then what?

Terry silent over comittment

John Terry is silent over where he wants to be next season, and it's driving Abramovich crazy!
The Blues captain would still like to talk to Man City boss Mark Hughes, but Chelsea owner Abramovich has shot down those requests every time.
The Chelsea faithful were hoping that their star boy would stay at Stamford Bridge, but it may not turn out that way.
Man City have already had offers turned down for Terry, but they won't give up just yet.

Man City manager Mark Hughes said: "John Terry is a player not at the club, who I keep having to answer questions about.
"We made a bid for a player that was rejected and that's where we stand at this moment. I said at the beginning of the window that ideally we would like to have all our signings in place for the start of the season.

Mourinho To Ibrahimovic: Fans Didn't Like You

Inter manager Jose Mourinho is angry at the swap deal of his star forward Ibrahimovic for Sammy Eto'o. Although he says that getting Eto'o is good business, no manager wants to lose a player like Ibrahimovic. I'm sure Sammy will feel overjoyed when he reads that line in the papers.
With pressure to win the Champions League this season from his boss Moratti, Mourinho knows that he's going to have to work extra hard to fit Eto'o into his setup.
Mourinho said that there are three stronger teams than Inter in Europe at the moment, a statement which has previously infuriated Moratti, and he has told Mourinho that there should be no excuses this time around in lifting the Champions League crown next May.

Mourinho said "If the president wants the Champions League, I will give him the replica I have at home.
"I know that's not what he wants. He's an honest person, he knows there are seven or eight clubs in line for the same objective.
"If he doesn't' know it, I will tell him myself that two or three are stronger than us at the moment."

Mourinho is a good manager, a bit of a whiner at times, but i still think that Mourinho wins trophies not because he's a good manager, but he's walked into teams that have been set up for him already. The Chelsea setup was already there, and Mancini set up Inter perfectly so yes, i think Mourinho is under pressure to win big, even more so now that Ibrahimovic has gone.
