This one has been long overdue. Such an incredible band with an incredible release. Helplessness Blues is the follow up to their critically loved debut self titled album. Everything I would like to say about this album is just so much easier said by just listening to the music. The real story is that I brushed off their debut album and I just didn't understand it. Until I saw them on Saturday Night Live I didn't truly realize that this was a special and talented band.

Remember that feeling that you got after you listened to Funeral the first time..? Well it doesn't happen here... You should probably shake your head if you ever though that was going to happen again. The reason I bring up Arcade Fire is because I feel like Timber Timbre is doing something that Arcade Fire did with Funeral. They might not be exactly as good (and I feel bad for comparing the two) but I feel that Timbre Timbre sounds like no one. And just as Arcade Fire did they have created a style all their own. It's haunting, delicate and above all else creepy. Creep On Creepin' On builds upon their first release and brings forth a set of songs which exist as one. They all work together flawlessly (also like funeral). I have to say that I had small expectations of this album as their first release was just too different for me. It was too much of one thing. On this album I feel like they have honed their creepy skills and created a masterpiece of an album that begs to be listened to. They also got a full spread in Exclaim Magazine! All in all take a listen to the song below and also give a listen to the full album if you get a chance. You will think you've gone back to the fifties.

TV On The Radio - Nine Types Of Light

What: TV On The Radio's Fifth Album "Nine Types Of Light"

Genre: Indie Rock, Funk
Sounds Like: Wolf Parade, Deerhunter

I would have to say that TV On The Radio is easily one of the most versatile bands that I've ever encountered. I first heard them when they released Return To Cookie Mountain in 2006 and was blown away by the urgency and compassion in their music. Every song on the album was put in the correct place and the pacing of the album was phenomenal. Fast forward to 2008 when they then released Dear Science, which was also an incredibly well produced record with excellent critical acclaim. Now, in 2011 TV On The Radio has another amazing album in Nine Types Of Light. Most of this album is very low key and heavily produced. A majority of the songs are focused on love and relationships and have an incredibly calming feel to them. I highly recommended this album to anyone who has either listened to TV On The Radio in the past or who is just finding their musical talents now.

Lupe Fiasco - Lasers

What: Lupe Fiasco's Third Album "Lasers"

Why: Lupe is getting heavily overshadowed...

Genre: Rap/Hip-Hop
Sounds Like: Kayne West, Kid Cudi, Drake

Wow, it's been a while. I don't exactly know what can be said about this album. The Cool came out in 2008? I can't remember cause it has really been way too long. Well he's back, but it might not be the right way. Lupe has always been about pushing the rap and hip-hop boundaries creating something completely raw and unadapted. Most of the praise of Food and Liquor and The Cool came from their completely raw style. Here we find a different Lupe, an aggravated Lupe who would have liked Lasers to come out when he initially intended to put it out, not when Atlantic Records wanted to.

First things first, this isn't Food And Liquor and it's not The Cool. It's an actual studio album.

If I were to breakdown each track it would be completely biased because you can easily tell which songs are spearheaded by Lupe and which are product of the studio. All black everything could possibly be my favourite Lupe song of all time, but it's definitely out of place on this album. When you finally listen to Lasers all the way through understand that this isn't all Lupe and this isn't how he intended the album to go. It was just how it happened.
