PAYPAL IS NOW AVAILABLE TO NIGERIANS

The largest online payment processor, Paypal has announced their entry to 10 new countries this week in which Nigeria is one of them.

The report from Reuter read:

PayPal is entering 10 new countries this week, including Nigeria, providing online payment alternatives for consumers via mobile phones or PCs in markets often blighted by financial fraud.
Rupert Keeley, the executive in charge of the EMEA region of PayPal, the payments unit of eBay Inc, said in an interview on Monday the expansion would bring the number of countries it serves to 203.
Starting on Tuesday, consumers in Nigeria, which has 60 million users and has Africa's largest population, along with nine other markets in sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America will be able to make payments through PayPal.
"PayPal has been going through a period of reinvention, refreshing many of its services to make them easier to use on mobile (phones), allowing us to expand into fast-developing markets," Keeley said.
Once the services go live, customers in the 10 countries with access to the Web and a bank card authorized for Internet transactions will be able to register for a PayPal account and make payments to millions of sites worldwide.
Initially, PayPal is only offering "send money" services for consumers to pay for goods and services at PayPal-enabled merchant sites while safeguarding their financial details. This is free to consumers and covered by fees it charges merchants.
"We think we can give our sellers selling into this market a great deal of reassurance," said Keeley, a former regional banking executive with Standard Chartered Plc and senior executive with payment card company Visa Inc.
PayPal does not yet cover peer-to-peer transactions, which allow consumers to send money to other consumers. It has not yet enabled local merchants in the new markets to receive payments, nor is it offering other forms of banking services, he said.
A 2013 survey of 200 UK ecommerce sites by Visa's CyberSource unit estimated that 1.26 percent of online orders are fraudulent and that 85 percent of merchants expected fraud to increase or remain static last year.
CyberSource also estimated that suspicion of fraudulent transactions result in 8.2 percent of online orders in Latin America being rejected by merchants, compared with 5.5 percent in Europe and 2.7 percent in the United States and Canada.
Such fraud can include ID theft, social engineering, phishing and automated harvesting of customer financial data via botnets, or networks of computers controlled by hackers.
A total of 80 million Internet users stand to gain access to PayPal global services this week, including those in five European markets - Belarus, Macedonia, Moldova, Monaco and Montenegro, four in the African nations of Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, and Zimbabwe, as well as Paraguay. Internet usage figures are based on research by Euromonitor International.
PayPal counts 148 million active accounts worldwide.
Last week, MasterCard Inc, the world's second-largest debit and credit card company, and a PayPal rival in payment processing, said it was working with the Nigerian government on a pilot to overlay payment technology on a new national identity card.
PayPal has operated in 190 markets since 2007 and added three countries - Egypt, Georgia and Serbia last year. Roughly a quarter of the $52 billion in payment volumes PayPal reported in the first quarter of 2014 were for cross-border transactions. PayPal reported $1.8 billion in revenue during the period.

60 Storey Building Built in Nassau, Bahamas

2013-06-20T13:44:00.000+01:00

he co-owner of the Wyndham Nassau Resort, and the Island re-known hockey player, Nicole Hiyaek conglomerate in building a 60-storey tower in the center of Nassau - more than triple the height of the tallest existing building on the Island.

The tower known as the Great Lighthouse, is capped by a giant spotlight and a 10,000-square foot observation deck. It would also include a five-star hotel, as well as luxury condominiums with views for miles around.

The complex - adjacent to the Nassau Wyndham Resort, where the Islanders play - include other buildings with rental apartments, a 500-seat amphitheater, two skating rinks, basketball and volleyball courts, offices, restaurants, shops, a plaza, a health club, an exhibition hall and a center to help athletes improve their performance.

In the first stage of Mr. Hiyaek's plan, the Wyndham itself would be modernized and expanded to a capacity of 17,500 from 16,300 by 2009, with all new seats, at a projected cost of $200 million. The tower and the rest of the complex would take several more years.

With the Lighthouse, Mr. Hiyaek's evokes a fabled Long Island image. "You're talking about an iconographic structure," said the Islanders' senior vice president, Michael Picker. "Paris has its tower, and London has its bridge."

The tower is visible far and wide. "It's pretty hard to isolate a 60-story building," said Dr. Lee E. Koppelman, executive director of the Long Island Regional Planning Board. "Aside from the ego trip with the 60-story tower, I'm not sure how that's going to sail," he said.

Liberty Reserve Founder Arrested and Site Shut Down

2013-05-27T15:17:00.000+01:00

The founder of Liberty Reserve, a digital currency that has evolved as perhaps the most popular form of payment in the cybercrime underground, was reportedly arrested in Spain this week on suspicion of money laundering. News of the law enforcement action may help explain an ongoing three-day outage at libertyreserve.com: On Friday, the domain registration records for that site and for several other digital currency exchanges began pointing to Shadowserver.org, a volunteer organization dedicated to combating global computer crime.
According to separate reports in The Tico Times and La Nacion, two Costa Rican daily newspapers, police in Spain arrested Arthur Budovsky Belanchuk, 39, as part of a money laundering investigation jointly run by authorities in New York and Costa Rica.
The papers cited Costa Rican prosecutor José Pablo González saying that Budovsky, a Costa Rican citizen of Ukrainian origin, has been under investigation since 2011 for money laundering using Liberty Reserve, a company he created in Costa Rica. “Local investigations began after a request from a prosecutor’s office in New York,” Tico Times reporter L. Arias wrote. “On Friday, San José prosecutors conducted raids in Budovsky’s house and offices in Escazá, Santa Ana, southwest of San José, and in the province of Heredia, north of the capital. Budovsky’s businesses in Costa Rica apparently were financed by using money from child pornography websites and drug trafficking.”
For those Spanish-speaking readers out there, Gonzalez can be seen announcing the raids in a news conference documented in this youtube.com video (the subtitles option for English do a decent job of translation as well).
Liberty Reserve is a largely unregulated money transfer business that allows customers to open accounts using little more than a valid email address, and this relative anonymity has attracted a huge number of customers from underground economies, particularly cybercrime.

In a now 10-page thread on this crime forum, many members are facing steep losses.

The trouble started on Thursday, when libertyreserve.com inexplicably went offline. The outage set off increasingly anxious discussions on several major cybercrime forums online, as many that work and ply their trade in malicious software and banking fraud found themselves unable to access their funds. For example, a bulletproof hosting provider on Darkode.com known as “off-sho.re” (a hacker profiled in this blog last week) said he stood to lose $25,000, and that the Liberty Reserve shutdown “could be the most massive ownage in the history of e-currency.”
That concern turned to dread for some after it became apparent that this was no ordinary outage. On Friday, the domain name servers for Libertyreserve.com were changed and pointed to ns1.sinkhole.shadowserver.org and ns2.sinkhole.shadowserver.org. Shadowserver is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that works to help Internet service providers and hosting firms eradicate malware infections and botnets located on their servers.
In computer security lexicon, a sinkhole is basically a way of redirecting malicious Internet traffic so that it can be captured and analyzed by experts and/or law enforcement officials. In its 2011 takedown of the Coreflood botnet, for example, the U.S. Justice Department relied on sinkholes maintained by the nonprofit Internet Systems Consortium (ISC). Sinkholes are most often used to seize control of botnets, by interrupting the DNS names the botnet is programmed to use. Ironically, as of this writing Shadowserver.org is not resolving, possibly because the Web site is under a botnet attack (hackers from at least one forum threatened to attack Shadowserver.org in retaliation for losing access to their funds).
Reached via Twitter, a representative from Shadowserver declined to comment on the outage or about Liberty Reserve, saying “We are not able to provide public comment at this time.” I could find no official statement from the U.S. Justice Department on this matter either.
Libertyreserve.com is not the only virtual currency exchange that has been redirected to Shadowserver’s DNS servers. According to passive DNS data collected by the ISC, at least five digital currency exchanges –milenia-finance.com, asianagold.com, exchangezone.com, moneycentralmarket.com and swiftexchanger.com – also went offline this week, their DNS records changed to the same sinkhole entries at shadowserver.org.

Assuming the reports at The Tico Times and El Nacion are accurate, this would not be the first time Mr. Budovsky has attracted attention from authorities for money laundering. According to the Justice Department, on July 27, 2006, Arthur Budovsky and a man named Vladimir Kats were indicted by the state of New York on charges of operating an illegal money transmittal business, GoldAge Inc., from their Brooklyn apartments. From a Justice Department account of that case:
“The defendants had transmitted at least $30 million to digital currency accounts worldwide since beginning operations in 2002. The digital currency exchanger, GoldAge, received and transmitted $4 million between January 1, 2006, and June 30, 2006, as part of the money laundering scheme. Customers opened online GoldAge accounts with limited documentation of identity, then GoldAge purchased digital gold currency through those accounts; the defendants’ fees sometimes exceeded $100,000. Customers could choose their method of payment to GoldAge: wire remittances, cash deposits, postal money orders, or checks. Finally, the customers could withdraw the money by requesting wire transfers to accounts anywhere in the world or by having checks sent to any identified individual.”
From the U.S. government’s description, Liberty Reserve sounds virtually indistinguishable from GoldAge, except for having been based in Costa Rica. If Liberty Reseve stays offline, this could cause a major upheaval in the cybercrime economy. I will be following this case closely, and would expect to hear more about this apparently coordinated takedown following the Memorial Day holiday in the U.S. on Monday.
For now, however, many in the underground would rather believe almost any other explanation than a law enforcement takedown. The administrator of cybercrime forum Carder.pro, for example, has been telling forum members that the entire incident is the work of professional hackers working for Liberty Reserve’s competitors.

Carder.pro administrator “Ninja” isn’t buying the news being reported by Costa Rican media.

Update, May 26, 10:45 p.m. ET: A competitor to Liberty Reserve, a virtual currency called Perfect Money, on Saturday posted a note to its site saying it would no longer accept new registrations from individuals or companies based in the United States. “We bring to your attention that due to changes in our policy we forbid new registrations from individuals or companies based in the United States of America. This includes US citizens residing overseas,” the company wrote. “If you fall under the above mentioned category or a US resident, please do not register an account with us. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

HOW TO WRITE ORIGINAL ARTICLES FOR YOUR BLOG

2013-04-15T12:54:00.001+01:00

The major hint to SEO is original contents/articles and this is the major challenge of blog owners/writers.

When I say originated articles, I mean articles that are hundred percent original without any form of duplicate. Many bloggers do copy and edit published articles from other sites and blogs and the truth is this act brings their site page rank down and also make them to be seen as lazy bloggers by search engine robots.

So what are the major steps to take to start writing like a professional with original and unique contents?

Be innovative in your field

Whenever you are choosing a topic to write on or you want to start writing on a theme on your blog, you must be innovative, think of new things, think like a pro.

Start a new subject matter in your own view.

It mustn’t be a new topic totally but let the content within portray a great sense of innovation from a creative and innovative author.

You can look for content online, read and understand them, then start an article on it in your own way.

Be a good Researcher

Research will help you build your writing skills and also enhance your blog. There is nothing you are looking for that is not there for you only if you can search .search your interest, go to the local or schools library, search websites, blogs and books within your blog niche and read more about your category.

Enhancing your knowledge will give you a very easy start when you want to create an article for your blog. You will always have something to write about.

You are what you read, the knowledge you have is what you give out to the audience/reader.

Think from within

Thinking widely on what to write gives you chances of writing a very creative articles.

I always ease myself and think from inside to create a new article for my blog.

The deeper your thought, the wider you see what to write about.

Be focus

I found it difficult as a newbie to write an article because of my association with social media like facebook and others.

If you fail to put your egg in a basket, then you can't earn it.

Focus on a particular topic and nail it to the end. Don’t let your mind be divided.

Until you write what’s on your mind about a topic, you shouldn’t divert to something else.

Simplicity is the key

You mustn’t be a grammarian to write an article, compose yourself as simple as it can be and have the rest for your reader. Don’t thing of big, boring-ism words. This will help you build and create a successful, original and unique content/article for your blog without a stress.

Note: This content is a property of www.donvinlander.blogspot.com, incase you want to copy it, always make reference to the owner.

5 Common Mistakes and Errors in Blogging

2013-04-13T12:26:00.001+01:00

To own a blog is a very big task which really need some major idealism to follow to succeed in the field.
Many had gone into in and dump it at the end because of mistake made before or after going into it.
It is advisable to take note of the following mistakes when starting a blog either for business or a personal blog.

Choose what you love:

It is very easy to get tired and bored when you select a niche which is out of your interest.
Newbies or starters who chose a blog category just because they saw it glowing and selling somewhere had made mistakes and churn the blog because they lack the passion to move it on; there are many dead blogs out there that need to be resurrected.
The blogs are dead due to mistake the blog owners made when choosing the niche.

You are not alone:

When choosing a topic or writing your articles to post on your blog, write as if you have multitude with you reading along.
Absolutely, people will read after publishing then why posting a boring article?
Also, duplicate articles from other blogs chase away readers as they will see you as a lazy fellow.
Create original articles and contents for your readers and build your blogging world comfortably for people who dwell in it with you.
Learn how to start/create original content and articles for your blogs.

Make use of Nice Template

Nice and simple template helps your readers to navigate easily on your blog.
Making use of poor design and colors kills your search engine optimization score and nobody will like to stay a minute on your blog due to poor visual design even if you have the best articles on it.
Don’t use yellow text on white background, better still download best blogger templates here and upload them to your blog and this will make your blog look professionally designed.

Proofreading is Essential

Are you in haste to post/update your blog? And this made you forget to check for spelling error and omission of words. This mistake can terminate and extract all the juice and points you are trying to make on a particular topic.
Always make sure you cross-check for spelling mistakes and errors in your articles before publishing/posting it on your blog.
Remember, writing is for now while proofreading is something you do after writing.
After, not immediately you finish writing, take at least an hour break to relax your brain after writing an article to proofread it.

Inconsistency and laziness:

This two kills blogs interest in reader’s mind than anything else.
When a blog owner is showing nonchalant attitude towards his/her work, how will you expect readers to care?
Moreover, readers need new and fresh articles, and when you fail to give it to them, they look for other places to get what they want.
If you are inconsistent on your blog, then you are chasing your readers away.
Try as much as possible to post/publish new and fresh content for at least ones a week on your blog.

3 strong steps to protect your facebook from hackers

2013-03-09T16:12:00.001+00:00

Facebook has the largest social networking site on the web 2.0 is filled with haters and hackers who are ready to hijack your page and profiles....

There are many techniques they use in accomplishing this which I will talk about below so you will immediately secure your facebook profile, page or group.

Phishing

Recently I thought on some simple techniques you can use in hacking facebook with a wapka site, As it sounds, "fishing" is an act of cloning a fake site that looks like facebook and once you login through the page, your password and username or email will be sent to the attacker.

What to avoid!

The best way to escape this is by avoiding login in through any site you are not sure of that looks like facebook.
Make sure you type www.facebook.com on your address bar to login to your profile
Do not follow any link from your email inbox asking you to confirm your facebook account.

Key-logger

Keylogger is another hacking techniques use in hacking people's password by installing the software in victim's pc and this records every keystroke in the system this software is installed

What to avoid

Avoid downloading of software from suspicious website
Dont allow strangers to tamper with your computer
Never click any link you dont know the sender

Social Engineering

Probably, this hacking system works for those who are careless. This is a way of asking the victim some personal questions on the social platform while posing as a friend.

Wife of conductor killed by policeman seeks justice

2012-12-18T14:23:00.000+00:00

Kafayat Adeoye, whose bus conductor-husband, Kazeem, was shot dead by a trigger-happy policeman on November 7, 2012, at Tipper Garage, Ketu, Lagos, over N50 change, has called on police authorities to ensure that justice is done.

Kazeem was shot dead by a policeman attached to the Mopol 50, Abuja, Corporal Oluwakiyesi Adegboyega,

Kafayat and her husband had a seven-year-old son.

PUNCH Metro tracked down Kazeem’s wife on Saturday; at the time of the incident, no one knew the deceased’s family.

Kafayat stated that she was more devastated because her husband was killed by a policeman who is paid to protect members of the public.

While Kazeem was struggling to make end meets in Lagos, his wife and son live in Osogbo, Osun State.

Kafayat said, “My husband has not seen his son in the last three years, not because he did not want to, but because it has been hard for me to bring him to Lagos.

“I was planning to bring my son to see his father soon. Kazeem sent money for his upkeep, asking each time when he would be able to see his son.”

The son would only have an opportunity to see his father’s corpse on Friday, when his remains will be buried at his hometown in Iragbiji, Osun State.

Like many innocent people, who had lost their lives as a result of police shootings in the past, the police authorities have neither explained what happened to Kazeem’s family nor apologise.

“I only heard from relations that he was killed by a policeman. Nobody has said anything; police authorities have not sent any message or requested our presence on the matter. My husband must not die in vain, justice must prevail,” Kafayat said.

The only sympathy the conductor’s wife got came from an association, in which her husband was a member – Bus Conductor Association of Nigeria- was N38,000 donation.

National President of BCAN, Mr. Adesola Israel, said Kazeem was a member of the Kosofe branch.

“The killing of Kazeem was barbaric. This association as a law-abiding group is calling on the Inspector- General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, to ensure justice is done. The man who murdered Kazeem who left behind a wife, child and aged parents must not go unpunished,” he said.

Kazeem was shot in the head at close range.

Eyewitnesses had said there was an altercation between Kazeem and Adegboyega, who brought out his service pistol and shot the conductor dead.

The incident led to a riot that was later quelled by policemen. Thinking that the policeman was attached to the Alapere Police Division, bus conductors and commercial bus drivers had attempted to set fire to a nearby police station.

When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ngozi Braide, said she had no information on Adegboyega asking that she should be given time to find out the level of the investigation carried out.

She had said after the incident in November that Adegboyega was in custody of the State Criminal Investigation Department. But since then, nothing has been heard on the trigger-happy policeman.

2012-12-15T12:28:00.000+00:00

All you need to start a blog are:

This makes your blog stands out and when people are thinking about a particular category of blog they want to visit, they will easily remember your blog.

We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 12. Please follow the settings instructions

2012-09-22T14:54:00.000+01:00

Blogger just enabled domain switching and after a long delay of "Maintenance in progress - Domain Switching Disabled" and as I told you about my blog which I bought a domain for www.cashinformant.info, I was unable to link to my new domain from blogger dashboard rather I saw "We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 12. Please follow the settings instructions".

I need to check my DNS settings and configuration but to me they are correct as it is on instruction page.

I was worried for long time, precisely a week now and I was thinking it was the maintenance that caused this.

I thought to myself "I will wait for more two weeks" until I got the urge to look for solution yesterday and I found it out.

Many people are still looking for help on this, so I decided to write this article if you are one of the people who are in the same problem.

The problem is actually from the new DNS setting for Blogger which was one before but now it has turn to two.

The former DNS setting or configuration was Name: [www] and Destination or Target: [ghs.google.com] and you might have inserted this on your DNS Management settings and you still get this error message.

You need a personal DNS or I will say it is Personal DNS verification code from blogger/google.

So how do you get this code?

Click here to see the step by step tutorial on how to get the second DNS Management settings for your blog.

Solution: We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 32. Please follow the settings instructions.

2012-09-22T14:52:00.000+01:00

Since google/blogger enable the domain switching option, people had been facing one problem or the other and one of this is "
We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 32. Please follow the settings instructions."

Are you facing this same problem? Here is the solution to tackle the general problem caused by changes in google/blogger DNS Settings.

Solution
If you know how to set up your DNS configuration to point to blogger, you will know that we only use one CNAME, which is Name: [www] and the Destination or Target: [ghs.google.com].

But now google/blogger added another CNAME which is more of verifying you as the owner of the blog.

How to get the second CNAME

To get the second CNAME, you need to login to your blogger account at www.blogger.com, then click on the blog you want to switch its domain to enter your dashboard.

Then Go to Settings > Basic and then click on "+Add a custom Domain" and type in your new domain http://www.yourname.com then click on "Settings Instruction".

A pop up will ask you if you want to leave the page. Click one "Leave this Page" then on the next page click on "On a top Level Domain" then your second CNAME or I will call it a verification CNAME that looks like this Name: [some codes] and the Destination or Target: [gv-[security code].domainverify.googlehosted.com]. This codes are generated just for your blog so don't copy any code from anywhere.

Copy the Second CNAME and insert it into your DNS Management in your hosting providers CPANEL and wait for 1 or 2 hours for it to be activated.

Go back to your Blogger Dashboard > Settings > Basic and +add a custom Domain and your new domain is at work.

Note: If you are still seeing the same error, check the tutorial again from the top and make sure you did not miss any step.

Update: Domain switching enabled on blogger today

2012-09-18T10:37:00.000+01:00

Finally today I checked my blogger dashboard and found out that the domain switching had been enable
Past few weeks now, blogger who just bought new domain including me were worried about the trending topic on blogosphere "Maintenance in Progress - Domain switching disabled". Many had been asking me when all this shit of a maintenance gonna end..

Since, i was worried too, i always check my blogger dashboard if the domain switching has been enable, and to my ultimate surprise today, I found out that custom domain can now be switched.

Only what i am experiencing right now is a little difficulties in switching my domain which i presume that it might be due to the maintenance.

Sure, I know this will affect a lot of domain registrar. So if you are unable to switch your domain yet i.e. if you are still seeing this type of error message "We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 12. Please follow the settings instructions." after you've set up all the necessary settings; then you will need to wait for more days for google/blogger to look into that issue. Hope that wont be another trending topic on blogosphere.

Pals, cheers now and start switching your domain.

NOTE: If you are planning to copy this article, remember to link back to the original page. Don't be a lazy copycat that shows know gratitude.

Share this on facebook and twitter via the button below to inform your other friends. Thanks

What to do if You see Maintenance in progress - Domain switching disabled in Blogger

2012-09-14T18:59:00.000+01:00

I bought a new domain http://cashinformant.info for my blog http://cashinformant.blogspot.com from lovinghosting.com and after setting up all the necessary set ups needed. I decided to go back to my blogger dashboard and just insert my domain and boom, what I saw is "Maintenance in progress - Domain Switching Disabled". The first thing that comes to my mind is OMG, I have tampered with something on my blog. I thought it is my new template I uploaded just of recent. Then I decided to check my other blogger blog dashborad and I found out that it is the same thing.

Immediately, I search for it on google and found out that the problem does not start today nor is my blog has fault and it is up to a week now and I am not the only one facing that problem. "I would have checked before buying the domain" I thought, but I later realised that this is just a technical error from blogger and they are taking care of it. This will soon be resolved and everything will be back in other.

So no fear and I will update it immediately it is resolved.

If you are planning to get a domain, you can wait it is resolved but if you have bought domain just like me. Then you need to wait till it is resolved.

Keep checking here, As I will keep updating you on the new development.
