OK. Well, it was a long time ago + we knew even less about our lives inside of the computer.
We had no idea that things would take off for some people and their lives would be altered.
Anyhoo.

This woman. Jenny. Her life has changed.
This woman is talented and different and amazing and she has a new and interesting career as The Bloggess blogger + AUTHOR! Yes. NOW AUTHOR!

Giants Beware! Local graphic novel {heroes come in all sizes...}

We have amazing neighbors + friends. I wanted to introduce you to Rafael + his AMAZING new graphic novel that will come out on April 10th!

COOL STORY:
Rafael Rosado is a cartoonist who has been in the industry for over a decade and he and his friend Jorge Aguirre created a story for a graphic novel and without an agent they busted ass to the San Diego Comic Con hoping to lay the book into the hands of First Second Books (Macmillan's graphic novel imprint).

Three days later they were offered a contract!
They did it!

The novel GIANTS BEWARE is out 4/10~ WOW!
We are so proud of our local Worthington, Ohio artists!!!

The HERO of the novel is a girl. UM. I love this.
Claudette is awesome + she and her crew make much coolness in this wicked fun ALL AGES graphic novel. We were given a copy by our pal + everyone in the house loves it.
It may already be tattered after a few weeks.

I was so delighted to have Ree send me a copy of her new + amazing cookbook a couple weeks back!
She signed it for me!!! Swoon!
{feeling pretty darn special too- I kinda ripped open the package like a Christmas gift}

I love Ree + and am always so excited by her projects and passions.
She is the real deal guys.
The book.

OK. I love this page OH SO MUCH!

Also. The photography {by Ree!} is gorgeous and the step by step method of her cookbooks means the world to me. I like knowing what is GOING ON when I cook.

I always wanna move to her ranch.
Right? How lovely.

The recipes are true to Ree. I am salivating all over the place. It's the kind of food that you want to eat. It's the kind of food that makes you feel special when someone cooks it for you.
It is my Joe's favorite. It's family food. It's party food. It's damn good.
I know when I want to spoil Joe that I just take my fingers over to the computer and type in Ree's address or go to her books!!!!

sickness + winter blues

I need some advice.
We have NEVER EVER EVER been sick as we have been this winter.
I have talked to the doc + to other pals with kiddos.
They say some years are bad cycles.
Have you ever had a winter of discontent like this?
It seems we catch every virus + bug. {and then it slowly trickles down through everyone}

Things I have heard:
eat more veggie + fruits {we do!!!}
eat less sugar
sleep more
workout
wash hands {yes}

What else? Any supplements? And vitamins? double secret shakes?

My Blissdom 2012 BLISS

It takes a couple days of reentry for me to gather my wits about me to write and gush about Blissdom.
I feel really lucky that I have such an amazing pool of talented and KIND people in my life.
From the moment I got to the GAYLORD {um, I love me some Gaylord Opryland} I felt right at home and ready to reconnect with friends and meet new people.

Something always sticks about Blissdom to me.
The kindness.
It really does overflow and I really do feel included in all aspects of the experience.
Alli said something that made me laugh but it rings so true... She said how they only want the best + the NICEST folks there. It's true. I think the feeling of Blissdom is encapsulated in this idea. I feel welcomed and loved there. I feel loved even for my differences. I feel loved for my gifts + for my abilities. I feel like someone who does not know me will try and get to know me + even if we are very different people with different views on life- it won't matter. We will find something to connect with at Blissdom. We will. I am as always honored to be with these folks.

I liked the conference set up this year a lot. I enjoy fewer speakers + choices in the day so that I am focusing on the tracts that I really need and not overwhelmed by all of the people/speakers that I would like to see. I have to give a shout out to Jeff Goins + his writing workshop. I think that kid is going places. I see him speaking all over the place, throwing inspiration everywhere up into the air.
I had a good moment in that session. I was reminded that I am not a fraud or a fake writer.
Sometimes the bad self talk can take over me and I feel like a faliure because I am not as published as I would like to be. I was reminded to be who I am and this was just what I needed.

The handmade market was AWESOME. Please do it again next year y'all! BIGGER! LONGER! OH YEAH. People responded so well to Little Alouette + I was in the company of so many favorite makers. Heaven!

How do you Homeschool the Revolutionary War?

We walk in the graveyard often.
It is behind the church where B goes to preschool.
It's old and creepy and wonderful.

We did grave rubbings this weekend and the kids decided that they wanted to study the Revolutionary War. I think this is what home school would be like for me if I could do it- {kid led}
