A strike fighter usually best adapted to air combat, but also with capabilities for space combat. Its predecessors include the Aerosyke fighter, along with the Aero Strike Fighter. But this new fighter bring a new image to the Bungie Co. and their line of fighters, modularity.

I've redone this fighter a few times, but I finally started from scratch and this has turned out as my favorite starfighter yet, which is funny since I said that the first time I built this about a year ago.

Guys, I almost think getting an iPod for Christmas was a bad thing. Because its freaking awesome. Its probably the main way I "connect" nowadays. Except right now. Right now I'm multi-tasking by typing an English paper and this blog post. Which I have had ready to got for quite some time, but now I've finally felt talkative enough to talk about it I suppose.

Anyway today's post it on the iPod app gallery as I've decided to call it. You know that store where you spend most of your Paypal money on since you don't really need more LEGO or anything else so you spend it on that and vending machine food. Anyway I really like iPod games, even have a favorite designer, but I've noticed that I develop a sort of weekly pattern and I feel like I should share my weekly games with you guys. Probably on Twitter from here on out, but right now I thought I'd make up for everything else by reviewing some of the games on the blog.

Super Turbo Action Pig - App Store

The first game is Super Turbo Action Pig, yeah, whoo, yeah you heard right. Maybe you haven't heard of the game, but I love it. It's a simple setup, but the graphics on it are fantastic. I think some people overlook the graphics and say that the $1.99 price isn't worth the simplicity of the game, but I feel the graphics are worth it. That's just me though, I pay more attention to graphics then the game.

Angry Birds - App Store

Don't think this one needs any explaining. I'd like to point out I beat it though. :D It's a fun game, but I'm not really sure why. Still love it though. I have always been wondering just how many times its been downloaded and if the profit from the game has made the designer rich. Probably made Apple more money. Poo.

Trenches - App Store

I like historical stuff and this is a fun take and history. I love the stylized figures and the game play is really fun too. I also like that you can play with or against other plays all over the world... or locally. They also made a sequel called Stenches. One of the designers for this game also worked on Super Turbo Action Pig.

Fruit Ninja - App Store

I'm a fucking ninja because of this game... A FUCKING NINJA! The game play is awesome and I like playing against other plays in the online mode.

Also tried updating the blog. New address too. Unfortunately the logo isn't working and the logo feature in blogger isn't working. Not sure if I cause that or not. oops.

Finally Photography

I know I promised to share some of my photography stuff a while ago on the blog, but I've been busy lately. What can I say. Anyway here is finally is. Maybe not so much content as I originally intended, but I've really lost motivation for this post. Rest assured it is still mildly interesting. Especially since it has new stuff never seen before unless you check out my other flickr yeah.

So for those of you that don't know I got a new camera for Christmas. A Nikon Coolpix L110 and aside from the flamboyant name I actually really luv this camera. It has great quality and works for regular photography and even macro photography like with teh laygoez. (Which reminds me, I need to go photograph two new MOCs, and I forgot to share this on the blog so check it out!) Anyway I really love the quality it has and I haven't really used it lately, I did use it a month ago and I'm sure I can add some commentary to these following photos. Also as it starts to get warmer I'm sure I'll feel more motivated to use it.

One of the earliest shots with the camera. I'm fairly happy with how it turned out especially since it was so late when I took it. Its not really streetlights but more like car headlights. Aw well.

These next two are from Cleveland State University. I was there for swimming in January and yesterday. Anyway I like how these shots turned out with a bit of cleaning up, but there were a few white balance problems. Being the person I am, I am willing to look past it and say it was creative ingenuity that led me to mess with the white balance.

Now this has to be my favorite shot taken with this camera ever. Everything turned out really nicely and I'm actually considering entering this in a photography contest at school. We'll see I guess. And yes there is another shot.

So that about wraps up photography until I actually decide to take more pictures I guess. Now that I'm looking at the blog it definitely needs an overhaul, but that's okay cause I soon as I find the time I'm going to update the blog and website to give them a new theme for the summer. (No, not a summer theme just a new theme for the next 6 months or until I decide to change it)

Okay Let's Talk Graphics

I guess my talk about my photography endeavor will have to wait a little longer. I just did a lot of graphic design work today and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I feel like I need to share it before I can talk more about photography.

I'm going to go in order from my most favorite to my least. Above is my most favorite. Its a possible new logo for the website (Version 5). I'm going to experiment with at least 10 other versions before I finally settle, but I really like the professionalism of this one. We'll see how the others turn out though.

I really like how simple this is. It gives it a straight-forward nice style. I think it looks pretty professional like the other design too. Mostly testing with opacity too. Inspired by SpoonGraphics.

I spent the most time on this one and I like how it looks, just meh. I do have a new Redbubble version available.

Zack Builds Ninjago Again

A dojo deep within the mountains. In this dojo NinjaGo practice their Spinjitzu in peace and harmony... or can they?

Assembling all of these Ninja ideas into one creation. Loads of fun to build and I'm really happy with the final outcome. Originally I was hoping to have it done for CCCVIII, but time didn't permit. I do like the LEGO playset style it has though.

Inspector Police Cruiser

Well I haven't really done much lately. I just haven't had the time to photograph this, and then when I got the photographs taken I didn't have the time to upload it. This was actually built a week or so ago. Really happy with how it turned out.

A small two-seater police cruiser for Inspectors of the Space Police force.

The idea was to somehow include this part and I feel I used it successfully while creating a well-rounded vehicle.

I hope everyone had a good New Year. By that I mean running rampant through the streets dead drunk while kissing every girl in sight. Yeah that...

Anyway (please ignore that text at the top) I have a final wrap-up closing type thing to the New Year. It is every creation that didn't make it for 2010. Coincidentally there are exactly 24 of them. It would have fit perfectly with Nolnet's failvent calender.

Well that is everything that didn't make it. I think it needs a little extended description, but there isn't really a notes section on blogger the way there is on Flickr so you'll just have to make to with the image. You'll notice a few even got photographed and edited before becoming fails slowly sitting on my desktop. Some were good and fell apart on the way to being photographed so that all that remains are WIP pictures because of the lack of motivation I had to rebuild them. Sad stuff.

Even if it is belated I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. And since its coming up a Happy New Year.

As you can see I got plenty of stuff. Like New shoes, Dragon Battlepack, Christmas Toy Shop, Scarab Attack, Golden Staff, Angler Attack, Seabed Strider, iPod touch with accessories, and a new Camera! I also got $100 and another $75 in gift cards. I really love all my loot.

In addition to the presents I got a new Nikon camera. I've done a few test which can be seen on my Photo focus Flickr and I will now be using it over my Casio. Mostly because my Casio sucks compared to this.

Excalibur

Based on the legend written by T.H. White in which Arthur brings Excalibur to his nervous step-brother Sir Kay because he has forgotten to bring his sword to the tournament. Sir Ector also stands by.

I originally wasn't satisfied with this, but I've become more and more happy with how this turned out. No I'm pretty happy so far with my two entries Relativity and this one, Excalibur, but I do have another done that needs photographing, and I want to finish another one before the New Year (deadline of the contest)

Well THAC ended a few days ago, I'm still recovering although thankfully it wasn't nearly as bad the day of. Twitter has loads (I mean loads) of updates following the experience and I also made a documentary as custom wiht other filmers, but that'll come out later.

Anyway before we get to the film I also made a test film before THAC to make sure I could still animate (took about 20 min) and you can see that

THAC 8 (Twenty-four Hour Animation Contest 8)

Now I know I've touched on little bits and pieces of this for the past two weeks or so... I think. Anyway here is my own little collective gathering of thoughts on THAC. So here goes.

I entered THAC last year and had a blast, so I feel it is only appropriate that I enter again. On the first day of my Winter vacation. Anyway I've got a few pre-conceived ideas, but I think I'm going to keep them to myself for now. Lets just say the mostly deal with the historical genre and/or collectible minifigures. If that doesn't work out then I can fall on some Christmas short or something.

I've also started a film website (that is so new its not worth sharing) and I was working on the filmography page, then I noticed that there was near-nothing to include. Hopefully I can fill it a little by doing a little extra work for THAC. Not sure I'll have the time though since I'm missing the first two hours of the competion with swim team and I may be on a Brickfilm Podcast during that day. My quickcam also doesn't work with my animating computer so I'll have to experiment with my photography camera. If I can't get it to work then I quit. Read more on my trouble.

Anyway I was bored in school and came up with a slightly complex set of tables and charts for my THAC schedule. Let me rephrase that I was so bored I would have fallen asleep, but I wasn't tired enough to.

On the day of THAC I'll likely post a blogpost with a more general list of everything I get done then I strike things out as I go. Now that may seem a little odd to check the blog that often (supposing you care), but luckily I have a new Twitter Account for anyone that wants to follow me there because I will also be posting progress to Twitter. And if you're willing to wait until far after THAC then I will have a video documentary of the experience. I think it's called a THACumentary and that will be on Youtube. Unlike last years which go mistakingly deleted.

I also wrote some other tips on this magical chart sheet of paper of mine including that I wanted to limit myself to 3-4 sets (which is probably far more than I should be making for a THAC film), I want to focus more on the plot than my film last year, I want to look at a 1:30-2:30 time range without credits. I think the 4 hour animation block I put in there should allow for it. I want to keep the documentary under an hour long, and I want to try to update Twitter by the half hour.

Phwew! I think I'm done talking about THAC. I'm THACed out.

On a side note the Twitter account isn't just for animation so please follow me, I already feel like I'm blogging to myself, I don't want to feel like I'm Tweeting to myself. Maybe if I wanted to publicize something I shouldn't have chosen a blog nobody reads.

Relativity

I know I'm late to posting this in relation to my Flickr stream, but I've got a lot in the works along with plenty of problems that continually seem to come up as I prepare for THAC next Saturday.

Inspired by the works of M.C. Escher only in LEGO castle! An entry into CCCVIII.

I have a few other entries as well that I hope to upload soon.

Maybe I'll rephotograph. I'm not completely sold on how it turned out.

Like I said before, lots of projects in the works including a Spinner (the Blade Runner one) type spacecraft, a speeder bike, and generally space stuff. I also have this half-assed WIP that I really want to finish despite being half-assed. I've also got stuff to upload that I haven't gotten around to posting yet, but we'll see how that goes. I might hold off until after Christmas just to see how things go. Say a new camera or new sets to improve the quality of the creations I have.

I also mentioned at the beginning of the post all of the problems I had been having with preparations for THAC. (Twenty-Four Hour Animation Contest) I wanted to film tonight, I set everything up just to practice since it's been a year since I last animated, and as I go to use my camera of course it doesn't work! That would happen to me.

Hopefully I can work it out.

Normally when I post photos of creations I post one creation and then a brief description. Well you're in luck today because I have two creations all in one blogpost!

The first is an Orient Expedition, mountainous type scene. I posted it last night, but didn't right the blogpost up because I wasn't really feeling well enough to stay at the computer. I feel much better today though. :D Anyway I built this yesterday since it was snowing and then everything else worked it way out from there. I also have a shot of the setup. <-Right there is the link, no joke.

The next is pretty obvious, its Harry Potter. I've had this setup built and photographed for probably 2 weeks where I've been messing with some of the photo-effects in GIMP. I'm happy overall with how it turned out. The photograph turned out nice since it shows everything I wanted it to, unlike my M.C. Escher diorama which I photographed yesterday, but the shots didn't turn out as nice as I would've liked.

I've got a backup of creations "To-Post" on my desktop, so there should be more coming soon.

Zack in "home sick mode"

Well this is my third time being home sick this year. I went to the doctor yesterday, he said I'm just having a bad year, gave me a prescription for some pills, I got said pills, then I took said pills. Yet here I am.

Thankfully I've been at least a little productive during this time. I started my second entry for CCCVIII and I finished all in the time of me being sick. I'm fairly happy with it supposing the photography goes well. It's and M.C. Esher painting. I wanted to do a different one, but this was the only on that seemed feasible. I made a comic for Biology class too. And look I gave one of the characters and afro! A freaking afro!

Speaking of afros I made a new BrickLink order buying 7 Collectible Minifigs. 2 of which are from Series 3. The rest from Series 2, but the best part of the order was I paid less for everything with shipping then I would have going to TRU. The seeler is also giving away a free Series 3 fig with orders over $9.50 so I'll get another! I'm in happy mode whenever I think of it.

I also made a drawing of an Apoc Boat and did some digital artwork, that turned out pretty meh. It was inspired but a post John did a while back, but I failed... horibbly.

Well that's it I think... other than the Speeder Bike I built. Not sure I like it or not. It's snowing here and John made of video of it snow there. I love the snow. Almost as much as I love THAC (Twenty-Four Hour Animation Contest) speaking of which is this December 18th-19th. I have plans in place to enter. More on that later though.

Now I have to see if I can convince John to enter.

I have got my building mojo back. Lots a new things I also have planned to share with everyone later as well. I mean a lot. I built and photographed a jousting scene that i still need to edit, a portfolio project I want to work on, a few sets of minifigures and much more. I find it interesting I spend so much time talking about the future. Maybe I should talk more about the present. My day was good like any other Saturday. I swam, went out the breakfast, photographed some stuff, edited some stuff, uploaded some stuff, and now at this very moment I'm watching Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End. Speaking of which I can't wait until the new movie. Along with the 8 new Pirate replacement sets we will be seeing. Speaking of new sets I am hoping to make it up to TRU tomorrow and pic up some of the new Series 3 minifigs, the Adventurer type sets, or/and the new Atlantis sets.

I made a Vic Viper...

A large fighter used for transport of dangerous criminals.

Probably my only build for the Vic Viper event since I've got so many other builds in the process. Like my six CCCVIII entries and a completely new architecture design I just finished up building this night. It's a house, using modern architecture techniques. It's for a contest announced last night and I got right to work. I've been working on it for a while and once I finish the landscape I'm sure I'll be even more thrilled with it. Pics may even come tomorrow if I work like crazy on it!

A few months later...

I'm back to blogging. School's been going fine, thanks for asking. Now that I look through my photostream I've realized how little building I've been doing since school started. I'm going to attribute that to the shitty building I've been doing recently. That's okay though since I'm hoping to enter CCCVIII (Colossal Castle Contest 8) with a few entries this year. Actually, I want to build six entries before December 31st. Aside from some poorly built creations I have managed to build a few half-way decent creations. I made a vignette and it was entered in a contest. The results are suppose to be posted within the week, fingers crossed. I did some graphic design work. Later I made one helluva dio. When I got a little bored and uncreative I made two sketches. I also took a new self-portrait photo that I'm really, really pleased with. I think its even worth posting so here goes:

I builded NINJAS! In Japanese the title is 行く忍者. I've never built anything with a Japanese title before, so its hawt. :3 And finally one of my more popular and probably my favorite build to date was put out. I call it Armada Outpost... because.

An small outpost in the middle of nowhere with a small community. Originally inspired by 6244 Armada Sentry, but it took a turn in a different direction and I'm happy with it. I encourage you to view the Full Gallery on BrickShelf since I've been using my account recently and updating it probably more frequently then I do Flickr. I really like how this shot turned out. It's a kinda boring shot, but the colors were nice.

I also started a Redbubble, but it's not really working out yet since I'm still WAITING FOR THE FREAKING CONFIRMATION E-MAIL! Anyway once that comes... hopefully I can start a nice little Redbubble account. That will in turn lead to me spending a little less time on building and a little more time on photography and graphic design. I've got a few design ready for when I am finally able to open the account. I'll have more on that later.

To go along with more time spent on photography I'm also getting a new camera for Christmas. Yay! I'm not sure which on yet, so suggestions welcome. I've been looking at the Nikon Coolpix L110, and a few Canon Powershot models. The only problem is that I won't know which camera I want unless I was able to test it with my computer. I tested the Nikon camera I mentioned above and it worked well, but I couldn't use it with a computer. God Damnit!

Also bought the LEGO Castle Advent Calender and it rocks.

Taking Initiative

I had an idea for an extended title which was "Taking Initiative by the Horns then Getting Thrown to the Ground", but it seemed to wordy. With this labor day weekend I've completely finished the website... completely. I just have to upload it which I will do soon. For right now I will just taunt you with the notion of me actually finishing the website. And FYI I like it even more with the updates. It only took me $25 in webhosting and hours at a computer screen!

Que wall of text, hopefully you don't think "TLDR" (to long didn't read) since most of it is relevant to you 13 people who hopefully still follow.

This webhosting actually leads me into today's topic which is that there is a new advertisement somewhere on this blog. I figure I'll just tell you, its at the bottom, but its not any advertisement, its and advertisement for 1&1 hosting, you know the guys that are based out of the UK that also do work in the US that I host with. Yeah them. $24 for 6 months is what I paid when I joined and that's only $4 a month for hosting which I'm more than willing to pay. It's not as nice as the $2 a month for Flickr, but I dig it. Anyway apparently I need another $24 to keep my hosting for another 6 months. I doubt the ad does anything, but if you do happen to be looking for hosting please use the ad, it a referrer and I make money based on who I refer. I think I make like $20 if you sign up for a domain and hosting, which I would gladly accept. I was tempted to put it on the sidebar, but I didn't really want to ruin the experience of the blog for anyone still out there.

I've also noticed how conceited this blog seems to be getting. It's all about me, I'm not saying I don't enjoy flattering myself, but I've got a legitimate plan for the future now. Over the course of probably this past year I've been growing with skills as a designer and in other fields, such as HTML, Graphic Design, etc. I'm hoping to give something to you all, more interesting than my creations at least. What I'm saying is that I'm probably going to go in a direction like a tutorial blog, but with a much different style to it that will hopefully keep me original. I've got a few ideas planned including how I came up with a few of my digital graphics along with a little insight into HTML. Hopefully that will help anyone learning HTML.

In addition to those tutorials I have a few inspirational projects I want to launch. One of which that it probably widely done, but still helpful is showcasing different portfolio website and I've got a few in mind that I really want to start with. The post should actually be coming soon. All of that is coming up and then some. I'm hoping to do a few design tutorials as well which will go in detail to how to orient a website based on my opinions, but hopefully someone will find it interesting.

I'm also hoping this will build me a fan-base leading to interaction between me and fans of the blog. Other than that expect a new design overhaul to the blog that will better integrate it with my website and make it more "friendly".

For the record I still like the dark dark grey, so yeah no color changes, but HTML changes for sure.

There was such a massive response to the last interior design plan I made and posted that I figured I should probably give it another go. That and I really enjoy building it. I haven't really been to inspired lately (and most of my designs haven't really been up to par in my mind) and this was a good way to break the break. (So to speak) I'm happy with how this turned out, now only if my BL order would arrive so I could build a little military themed type of "creation" I could start/finish.

Sigh Another "Future" Plan

I know I haven't really posted as frequently as a used to and I used to have lots of building time to post some new creation every week. Its so much easier on me to take my time, slow down, and fully think through a creation.

I was on vacation last week and did some digital art designs and I'm really happy with the result. In terms of building I still have to photograph my ship from BrickWorld, finish my Castle, and I just finished a Apocalego design shown at BrickFair 2010. (It was on display at BrickFair, but when it came home I like it less and destroyed it.) I also want to try micro-space, a new starfighter, and more mecha, but that is all hypothetical.

I know I don't post very often to dA or any of my sites that need updating really so here is a promise (and I'm sure I've made it before) to post more to dA, Facebook, and this blog. Sorry to anyone that has hopelessly been following or hopelessly quit, but I promise things are going to pick up on those sites. Probably going to slow down with the posts to Flickr though.

In recent news I've decide to coolify (if that's a word, I doubt it) my Facebook Page with more updates about things that are... how you say appealing and quick discussable tidbits for the LEGO community. I guess I've finally done something original, so I don't have to copy John's ideas anymore. What's that? John? Yes I'm still alive and he is definitely still alive for those of you who haven't followed his 365 project, well, you should.

Now I should probably be shunned from the LEGO community. I built Haloz. Well, kinda. I built a civilian craft that can definitely stand as a sci-fi creation on its own. Anyway its from Halo 2 (which I've never played) and its a civilian craft.

More of a WIP, but odds are this is the farthest it will go. I'm mostly happy with it, but I really need the parts from it for other projects and the general shape didn't fall together the way I wanted. I like it, but I have ideas from a much better starfighter.... coming soon when I start.

I know I haven't posted to frequently, but there should be more coming soon I hope. Maybe not creations, but at least some blog content.
