Pagan Altar / Age of Taurus

I took my camera down to London for the Live Evil festival — and left it in my bag because I was too busy having fun. Still, the two doomy bands on the Saturday were both excellent, and without permission I present here two videos uploaded by the mighty MetallicaHoop3. Hope that's OK, fella!

Hawklords — Live in Liverpool 2011-10-13

2011-10-15T03:55:00.000-07:00

Another post that's not doom, and not even metal, but never mind that, here's the Hawklords.

Much more below the fold:

A stellar cast of ex-Hawkwind types, playing Hawkwind songs, with a different take thatn recent Hawkwind lineups. Hawklords have less of a hard edge than Brock and Co., opting instead for lusher more rounded instrumentation. I like it both ways (said the actress to the bishop).

The show at Liverpool's O2 Academy kicked off their current tour, and it was a great night. The band was visibly moved at times by the audience reception (a lot of noise for a relatively small crowd) but they deserved all of it.

Pale Divine: I Alone, The Traveller

2011-10-11T14:20:00.000-07:00

Another movie from the Born Too late festival in Rochester, and I think the first thing I ever recorded with my current camera. It's slightly spoiled by my not having learned how not to have my fingers over the microphones, but it is a fairly rare recording of this 4-piece lineup. Not that the 3-piece isn't great, but I felt the two guitar lineup worked well too. And there's a lot of guitar on the studio versions.

I'm very excited for the forthcoming album, Painted Windows Black.

A New Blog

2011-10-01T13:46:00.000-07:00

This blog will be a place to collect together my videos that I've recorded at concerts. I might also collect together links to other videos I like; I haven't decided yet.

It started when I got home from the inaugural Full Moon Dog festival in Bradford; I had a bunch of videos that I wanted to share with a dozen or more people and I wasn't feeling inclined to spam Facebook with all the videos. So here it is.

Over the next few weeks I intend to rummage through my hard disks and YouTube accounts (of which I seem to have far too many) and make some posts. When I've caught up with my backlog of videos, then we'll see.

I hope somebody enjoys this blog, and I welcome any and all comments!
