In other words they are there for you when you really need them, however what about every other day? Aren’t friends important to us every day? Sure they are, and to show them they are worth the effort everyday is what matters. There is one friend I know I can count on to be there for me every day, to show me love and appreciation. If you too are a dog owner, you know the friend I am talking about and know that these non-judgmental friends you really can count on each and every day do exist. Your dog is grateful and treats you kindly and all they ask in return is your love, respect and caring. Most of us tend to go way beyond just providing the basic needs and pamper our pets as a sign of our appreciation. We reward them with healthy gourmet treats or let them up into our bed during a thunderstorm. Rather then just opening the door and letting them into a back yard, we can take them for long walks, to explore different places while everyone gets some exercise. I have come across another item my dog seems to adore, and it’s something that offers a great benefit for our pets as well, that is an orthopedic dog mat.
These unique orthopedic dog mats will work to evenly distribute your pet’s weight and take pressure of their joints. Just like an orthopedic mattress for us, these will allow for a restful sleep. For dog that suffer from hip dysplasia or arthritis, which is common in some breeds, these beds can be a blessing for them allowing them to rest without feeling the discomfort of their ailments. The best part is that the orthopedic beds not only treat these skeletal and muscular issues, but the beds can assist in preventing these conditions if used for younger dogs as they mature. For a dog that has recently undergone surgery and needs rest to heal and restore their energy these mats can be the perfect place for them to rest and recover. The mats come in different shapes, sizes, and colors and worth for big dogs, small dogs, and chubby dogs or trim dogs.
The mats are very durable, and will withstand a lot of use and with a removable washable cover they are very easy to clean. They are comfortable and will assist in insulating your pet from a cool or damp floor which is needed in the winter and the breathability of the fabric keeps them comfortable in the heat as well. If you are looking to provide your pooch with the very best and keep them comfortable and healthy these orthopedic mats are what you need. When your best friend is happy and healthy, that makes you happy too. So making sure your dog is taken care of and they are getting some quality rest, and their joints are protected with an orthopedic pet mat will also work to give you peace of mind and enjoyment.
www.doowaggle.com

Luxury & Decorative Dog Houses

There is not doubt someone knew what they were saying when they coined the phrase ‘a dog is a man’s best friend. Unconditional love, loyalty and always bring a smile to your face. How do you say thank you to them for being your best buddy? You could start by giving them the benefit of having a nice place for them to lay down and relax while keeping them safe from the elements. Sure standard dog house would serve that purpose but think of what would really show your appreciation. Take it a step farther and give them the decorative dog house that they deserve.
These decorative dog houses are unique in that they can be completely tailored to suit your dog’s character. For the dog that is full of energy and is always on the go, you could get a house decorated with some of the many items that he or she uses to keep them busy. If your dog is a hunting dog then perhaps a dog house with a log cabin appearance would be more their style? Or maybe your dog is a mature, quiet and laid back and you would like their dog house to reflect that with a relaxing look and feel. If you are one of those people who really like to pamper their pets consider a dog house that looks like a Victorian home with the picket fence that you yourself have always dreamed of. There are really no limits to being creative and designing the perfect dog house for your best friend.Don’t forget to look beyond the exterior when it comes to these decorative unique dog houses. You can add many different features that will make your dog much more comfortable in their new home. If the cold winds are blowing then consider a heater for your dog house will keep your dog warm. If you live in a climate where your pet can be subjected to unbearable heat, and with that natural fur coat of theirs it can be even more intense. To alleviate this problem you can have an air conditioner added to your dog house which will be a great help on those scorching hot days. Your dog is sure to appreciate all those little extras that you give them when customizing their decorative dog house.
www.doowaggle.com

Links for 2009-06-18 [del.icio.us]

However hammocks are not just for humans, our pets can enjoy them as well!
It would be awesome to take a vacation once a week!
Unfortunately the majority of us can’t, not necessarily because we can't addord it but because of all the time commitments we have in our daily lives. However there are over 10,000 minutes in the week so it is certainly within your power to take a few of those moments for ourselves, curled up or stretched out with a good book on a relaxing cotton hammock swinging and swaying along with your pet!
Pets are family!
Doowaggle Dog Houses & Hammocks

Need a dog house? Consider a luxury dog house

Doowaggle’s series of Luxury Dog Houses are really unique and very attractive. Rarely can you find a dog house that is a real showcase for your yard but these truly are spectacular. Do you think your dog would prefer the Victorian model or the Cape Cod Style? Okay, so maybe the pooch won’t appreciate the appearance the same way you will but they will benefit from the safe environment, protection from the weather and ability to go out to the kennel for a breath of fresh air.
Both models feature enough room for comfortable inside accommodations as well as a spacious outdoor kennel. Believe it or not, they even have the option of relaxing outside on the back porch. Maybe not enough room there for a hammock, rocking chair or dining set but really in dog terms it would work because that amounts to space to lay down and a bowl right! Your dog will be the envy of all other dogs in the neighborhood. You can purchase any color scheme of paint to finish the home. You can pick a color to suit your taste or choose it to work with the color scheme of your own home. All the material is provided to assemble the houses, including the chain link for the Kennel, screws and hardware to secure the precut panels, even some decorative shutters and window flower boxes are included. Yes, you read that right, flower boxes for the dog house! You’ll need to help with the planting because with no opposable thumbs I don’t think the dog can handle that job – on the other hand, when you want to dig up some flowers they can come in handy!
www.doowaggle.com

Insulated Duplex Dog Houses

Your best friend needs to be protected from the blistering heat and freezing cold. The houses are constructed of cedar and will look lovely in your backyard. The doors to the dog house are in a better location than right in the middle of the dog house the doors are off to one side for maximum protection from any kind of harsh weather.

Your dogs will stay cool in the summer and cozy warm in the winter. This is done by the insulation reflecting the suns heat in the summer. The dog house will reflect 97% of radiant heat for maximum comfort for your dog. They may think dog’s don’t require clothing because nature has already provided them a coat of fur. Well, while it is true that dogs have fur to protect them, that doesn’t mean designer dog clothing is a wasteful investemnt for your pet. It provides style while protecting the dog from the harsh elements, those times when it gets below zero ....ffffffffrrrrezzzing!
Consider a popular item of designer dog clothing…the doggy sweater. Sure, if it’s Christmas-time, an appropriately-themed red sweater will make your dog stand out. But there is a practical side to this idea, especially for short-haired dogs. With a sweater, the dog will keep warm even if there’s snow on the ground. And this is important because like humans, dogs can get frostbitten during the harsh winter months.
If you feel a dog sweater isn’t enough to keep your furry friend warm, consider getting a coat… another popular piece of designer dog clothing. Dog coats look just like traditional coats, except they are tailored for canine wear.
So, if you want your darling dog to feel like a canine diva, why not grace her with a coat made of fur? And for male dogs, there’s the motorcycle leather jacket. There are also year-round dog coats that are designed for both genders, or for the more manly dog!
Now, what does a person do if they are on the other end of the spectrum… they want to dress up their dog for a special occasion, like maybe a wedding? In these instances, they will need to decide what type of designer dog clothing they will need. For female dogs, there is the option of getting a feminine doggy shirt, or even better, a doggy dress. The style of these dresses looks similar to kids’ dresses, though there are a few that sport spunkier designs.
For male dogs, there are Hawaiian shirts, tuxedos and even military fatigues. You can also get denim overalls, which tend to be unisex in nature.
Sound interesting? Well, before you order designer dog clothing, you must measure your dog to make sure you get the right size. To do this, you will have to measure their neck and their chest. You can use a tape measure or a piece of yarn… just make sure that when everything is finished, the measurements are expressed in inches. Anyway, once you have your measurements, you will want to use a sizing chart to determine how big your dog’s clothes need to be. Most stores selling designer dog clothing will have these charts on hand.
www.doowaggle.com

Dog House & Kennel Combinations: Luxury Dog Houses

What options do you have when it comes to dog house & kennel combinations? If it’s not a tethered chain or a chainlinked fence, it’s a standard dog house. Yet, is this the best dog house & kennel combination for your dog? Sure, a standard dog house will keep your dog protected from bad weather, but will they have an area they can roam in?
That’s why many dog owners consider another dog house & kennel combination: luxury dog houses. So what is the difference? Well, the concept is similar to standard dog houses, as they offer shelter to protect the dog from the elements, but your dog has a kennel area outside the house.
The inside of these houses offer more space than most dog house & kennel combination you may have known about. Your dog will have as much freedom as he had indoors, as he will have plenty of room to roam outside the house.
At the back of the house, there is a fenced in area that acts like a ‘doggy porch.’ The dog will be able to engage the outdoors without any worries over whether or not they will run away. And, when the weather gets worse, they can always go back inside to lounge around in the housing area.
You can make luxury dog houses even more effective if you install an climate control unit within the housing unit. This will allow your dog to use the house even during harsher conditions, though take caution if there are extreme situations. Even though these units are very effective, if there is extreme heat or cold, your dog will be safest in your house. In conclusion, if you’re interested in a dog house & kennel combination that is as effective as it is stylish, consider getting a luxury dog house.
www.doowaggle.com

Cedar Duplex Dog Houses

If you are a family with two dogs with limited space and need a new home for them, you will find the answer in cedar duplex dog houses. There are a number of reasons why it is the ideal choice for their new home.

One of the key things you should know about cedar duplex houses is that they are very practical. Instead of looking at the possibility of having to invest in two separate homes you can choose a duplex and they can share a home, yet have their own space.

When you provide your dog with a cedar dog house, you will be giving them a very healthy environment. First, cedar is one of the healthiest materials you can find. In addition to the natural healthful state of this wood itself, it is also resistant to decay and insects! Not to mention it has a wonderful scent....like grandma's cedar chest.

No matter what size your dogs may to be, there is a duplex for them, from the very small to mastiff size (that is really BIG) homes!

The cedar dog house is also attractive that it will make a wonderful addition to your back yard, decor rather than an eye sore. The fine wood and expert craftsmanship which go into building these dog houses ensure both you and your pet of a quality, long-lasting home.
www.doowaggle.com

Insulated Dog Houses for the Winter Months

Keep your dog warm and cozy with an insulated dog house this winter. After your dog gives you so much joy it is only fitting to give them a comfortable home when they have to be outside.

Insulated dog houses are top notch quality and custom made. The insulated cedar dog houses are constructed using tongue and groove cedar. You will be keeping your dog warm during the winter and the dog house will not look like an eye soar in your backyard. Instead you will have others wondering where you bought your cedar dog house.

Other benefits to a cedar insulated dog house is the roof that easily removes. You can simply take the roof off and clean your dog’s home. No more crouching down and trying to clean out your dog’s house.

The door is not directly in the center but off to one side of the house to allow your dog to get out of the harsh elements. This will keep your dog warmer by being able to sit behind the larger part of the wall. You want to keep your dog safe from below zero wind chills, rain, hail, etc., when you cannot let him or her in the house if you are not home.

Cedar insulated dog houses come in a variety of sizes for your dog. Small, medium, large and extra large homes for your adored dog.

You can also purchase a climate control unit to go with your insulated dog house for even greater comfort by keeping the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

You insulate the house you live in so why wouldn’t you insulate your beloved dog’s house? Get your dog an insulated dog house and watch his tail wag when he or she thanks you for your love and kindness.
www.doowaggle.com

Dog Clothing

Designer Dogs do the Cat walk?
Years ago I had a small German Shepherd mix. As kids, for fun we’d find an old T-shirt and put him in it to catch a Kodak moment. Well, back then that was on ‘film’ with a flash ‘cube’ attached to the exterior of the camera and back then it was just for fun. Who knew that the industry for cool dog apparel would take off as it has?
Every day you are in the checkout line at the supermarket looking at the tabloid headlines just take note. Celebrities with their coiffed pooches in their designer dog clothing from leashes, to diamond studded collars to full ensembles. In their rain gear with rubber boots – ‘this’ is not a bad idea because that ‘wet dog’ smell isn’t the most pleasant of fragrances.
The miniature dog apparel is the best – the detail in those tiny little garments. If I knew then that this industry would have skyrocketed into what it is today.... hind sight is wonderful isn’t it? Just think of the email forwards you get daily and weekly. How many times do you see images of animals? Images of a pair of small Shih Tzu pups decked out in Dog wedding dresses? I love it! We give our lovable little buddies almost human qualities when we do this.
We love our pets... they are our best friends. They don’t judge us and don’t complain. There is nothing wrong with spoiling them a little – quite frankly when you think about it having to put up with us sometimes they should market little doggy bronze, silver and gold medals!
www.doowaggle.com

5 Tips For The Dogs Of Summer

5 Steps to Success
Women can communicate, however men still say they can’t figure ‘us’ out! ...on the other hand our pets ‘cannot’ directly tell us what they want or need yet most of the time it’s so simple and so clear.
1/ Your Pets need adequate food, but not too much. Feeding us too much isn’t good for us either. A fat dog or cat can experience the same health risks an overweight human can.
2/ They need exercise! Remember the old saying: “if your dog is fat, then YOU need more exercise”. With fenced yards and leash free parks getting them to a venue to work off a little kibble is easier than ever.
3/ Keep them hydrated – just like a human, they need access to water. This applies 365 days a year but during the hot summer months they are more susceptible to dehydration.
4/ Shelter and shade from the ‘elements’. In the hot summer days you pet needs a break from the intense sun either indoors, or a protected area like I dog house. In the winter there are risks when they are exposed to extreme cold as well. Along with the basic protection from the elements like storms, extreme heat, or cold and the risk of exposure , also consider the other critters running wild out there, and what harm can come to your pets from a result of wildlife or even the sad tales we hear of ignorant humans who abuse dog and cats.
5/ Affection and some attention are not only needed but well deserved. The unconditional love they give us? This should be so easy however some poor dogs get tied outside and ignored. Dog that are tied with no supervision have in some cases exhibited signs of aggression. This is not to discourage you from allowing your pet some time outdoors but they do need companionship, supervision, and some TLC.
So simple isn’t it? Just pay attention to these simple steps and you’ll have a happy healthy pooch – now take these 5 simple steps, apply them to time with your favourite female – add in being cleaned up, showered and shaven ( the dog may not have noticed!) a bottle of wine and if you can even pretend to hear what we’re saying... you’re off to the races.
www.doowaggle.com

Dog Tidbits

Just the ‘Facts’ Rover
From the DID YOU KNOW file:
Fossils and DNA evidence have indicated that Dogs have been in existence dating back possibly 150,000 years.
There is another school of thought that views Dogs dating back to Europe about 14,000 years ago as a descendant of the wolf.
Originally it was thought Dogs were Color Blind but recent studies have shown they see ‘some’ color just not to the extent of humans.
While the design of their eyes may not allow them to see as much Detail as humans they are more sensitive to light and movement than we are.
Not only do dogs have a much broader range of frequency they can hear than us, they have the ability to tilt, rotate and tune their ears into sound giving them the gift of being able to pinpoint the location of a sound as well. The only human known to come close to this is a Mother and her hearing ‘just’ before the kids say ‘ I didn’t do it!’ ; )
As for their keen sense of smell... well I think the fact they are used at airports to sniff out illegal substances and used extensively by police departments ... we know they weren’t hired for their love of coffee and donuts. Well, you might me able to entice them with a donut for sure!
Longevity of your beloved buddy will certainly be influenced by the care you give them however there is a lot to do with breed and size as well. Larger breeds may only live 7-9 years, some small breeds I have even seen to live to 20 and generally the mixed fall somewhere in between at 13-14 years.
· The world book of records recorded the oldest living dog to be 29 years old. This dates back to the late 1930’s
· The tallest dogs are the Great Dane and the Irish wolfhound. The smallest dogs are the Chihuahua, Yorkshire terrier and Toy Poodle, which stand about 2 ½ “ at the shoulder
· In short bursts a Greyhound can reach a speed of 45 MPH.
www.doowaggle.com

Doghouses

Throughout the world dogs are a considered part of the family and many people will go out of their way to ensure that they get the very best for their canine buddies. Dogs have long been a popular choice for a family companion. The smaller breeds are quite domesticated and delight in being in human company especially children. They just as happy with a blanket placed in a corner of the home or may like to bunk with the children. However, in some cases when you are dealing with a large breed, not well trained or is of the ferocious nature it would be a far better choice to have them safely secured in dog houses or a dog kennel.

To build or not to build that is the question……

A dedicated dog owner may go to great lengths to make a stylish and comfortable dog house by themselves. Considerations are buying the required materials, painting and furnishing with the required necessities, they prefer to crave their own path.

Custom dog houses are made for those who have little time or resources for doing it themselves and these homes can be delivered to the front door ready for easy assembly.

A simple dog house versus the Taj Mahal?

Several considerations:
1. Should you consider a dog house air conditioner? If you live in a very hot climate this should be a serious consideration. Or perhaps you have harsh winters and should consider a dog house heater?
2. Should you consider insulated dog houses? Regardless of your climate extreme cold or hot …an insulated dog house will be far more efficient at storing heating or repelling the cold.
3. Do you have multiple dogs and should you consider duplex dog houses? This is going to depend on the dogs themselves and how comfortable they are with each other. A major benefit of a duplex dog house is if either dog requires medical attention and recovery their “own” space would be ideal. Most center dividers are removal after they are no longer needed.
4. If you have multiple dogs perhaps you should consider combination luxury dog houses that are also a kennel. This is the best of both worlds allowing the dogs their shelter and the feeling of being outside.
5. How big is your dog? Are you going to need to consider large dog houses?
6. Which type of wood should you consider…cedar dog houses? Or perhaps a composite type.Maybe you have a small breed dog and should consider indoor dog houses, sharing your home with your best buddy, yet allowing them their own space.
http://www.doowaggle.com/

Squidoo Custom Dog Houses

Do you Squidoo? We are responsible to protect them. It’s no different than being a parent. Our four legged friends smother us with love and make us feel needed and comforted. In turn we need to protected them. The idea of them suffering in the heat is just crazy. There is NO need for it at all. The amount of time they are exposed to the heat, the temperature and the relative humidity all play a part in their ability to cope with the summer climate. Take into account the dogs weight, age or overall health and these too play a part in their ability to deal with the stress of a hot day. Leaving your dog sealed up in the sun in a car? Have you completely lost your mind? There is NO need for it! Would you do that with grandma? I think not!
If a dog’s body temperature goes above 104 degrees they can experience ‘heat stroke’. This can have very harmful effects on your dog’s health. Signs that the heat is affecting your pet can include: pale and dry gums, signs of weakness or loss of balance, the ear flaps may appear red and flushed, or when symptoms become extreme your dog may vomit, have loose stools or no longer be mentally alert.
Some ideas to combat the effects of the heat are filed under ‘common sense’. Limit activities during the middle of the day – take your pet for a walk early in the morning and later in the evening. If the kids are out running around in the heat with your pooch, the kids will find a pool to jump in, or come inside for a drink and to sit in the shade and A/C to cool off. Give your adopted buddy the same consideration and let him or her cool off as well. Find them a shady spot under a tree to enjoy the breeze and have some water. Put Fido in the house with a cold tiled floor to lie down on. A dog house will be a treat for them as well. They have a man made roof to create shade and some come with air conditioning too! We love the A/C and some days it makes life bearable for us, why would we not allow our pets to enjoy this same luxury? Their wearing fur coats for heavens sake!
I was surprised when I read that there are some breeds that suffer more in the heat than others. Those listed as more sensitive are the English bulldog and boxer to name just two. If you are concerned about your dog’s ability to deal with the heat, discuss it with your Vet. These are a partial list of suggestions and in most cases a healthy dog just needs the consideration of a shady cool place, time to relax and water ... We enjoy that kind of lifestyle on a hot day – why shouldn’t they?
www.doowaggle.com

Custom Cedar Dog Houses

Cedars are a preferred choice as ornamental trees, often used in horticulture in temperate climates where winter temperatures do not fall below about −25 °C. The Turkish Cedar is slightly hardier, to −30 °C or just below. The survival rate of planted specimens can be affected in severe winters where temperatures do drop lower. Geographical areas with successful long-term cultivation include the Mediterranean region, Western Europe north to the British Isles, southern Australia and New Zealand, and southern and western North America.

Another characteristic is their durable (decay-resistant) scented wood; the famous use in past history is the construction of King Solomon's temple in Jerusalem provided by King Hiram, or Ahiram, of Tyre, Lebanon, circa 1000 BC. The cedar wood is also used for home construction because it is resistance to weather, for shakes and shingles. Cedar wood and cedar oil is a natural repellent to moths; therefore hope chests were made of cedar when available. Cedar is a popular lining for modern-day closets in which woolens are stored.

Its resistance to insects makes the cedar an excellent choice for custom cedar dog houses. The properties of the wood make it safe for pets and it is resistant to decay as well. With minimal care and some wood preservatives custom cedar dog houses can last for several years, providing a safe comfortable home for your dog.
http://www.doowaggle.com/

Dog Gift Baskets

When friends or family purchase a new home they are often greeted with a housewarming gift. So why not give a housewarming gift basket to a dog when they receive a new home or their first home? Sound crazy? Not really ….you can give your favorite canine a dog gift basket as a housewarming gift or a combination gift that both dog and dog owner can enjoy! Pet lovers spend billions of dollars each year on their dogs because they are considered part of their family.
So the idea of dog gift baskets isn’t so far fetched…(pun very much intended) besides it is the gesture that counts….right?
So the next time you hear about Fido getting new digs …select a treat filled gift basket and send it to the address of the new home…it will be appreciated by dog and owner alike.
BTW these gift baskets are not a couple of hard dried out jerky treats in a paper bag….on the contrary…they are filled with gourmet treats, delicious gourmet dog biscuits, various toy items and some even have items to help with the dogs health and grooming!
The idea of a dog getting a housewarming gift may not seem to crazy when you consider that there are custom built homes for them with heaters and air conditioning….that’s right an air conditioned custom made house…now is that cool or what? Again with the pun……
www.firstavenuegiftbaskets.com

Air Conditioned Dog Houses

Or here comes the sun.....
If you reside in a mild climate you probably never thought about air conditioned dog houses for your pet. But if you reside in a summer climate or where the summer temperatures go ballistic, an air conditioned dog house may be a consideration if your dog spends time in the backyard. Commonly when we think of protecting our dogs from the elements we think of snow, rain, and frigid temperatures, and while these conditions can be uncomfortable to any pet left out in them, the heat of summer can also be very uncomfortable. An air conditioned dog house can provide a mild temperature to keep your dog safe and happy.

There are some considerations when choosing an air conditioned dog house. If you are going to install an air conditioning unit into a dog house yourself you should be sure that the house is made of a suitable material. Plastic dog houses are popular, but plastic is not the best material for an air conditioned house as they are not easily insulated and will not hold the cool air well. Wood or custom cedar dog houses are the best choice for an air conditioned dog houses and you should either buy one that is already insulated or insulate one yourself with an extra layer of plywood and Styrofoam. Having insulation is important as it will reduce the already small cost of cooling the dog houses by allowing the cooling unit to run more efficiently.
www.doowaggle.com

Indoor Dog Houses

We all enjoy our own "space" ...our favorite spot where we feel comfortable be it a chair, couch, that cozy spot on the porch or maybe even a hammock!

So why not give that same consideration to our indoor pets?

Maybe you have that type of dog that wants to defend their turf and every time someone enters the house it is a challenge to keep them at bay or

perhaps the opposite it the case where they are jumping for joy only the jumping is on your guests legs! There are indoor dog houses or enclosures that can solve that problem.

With these all aluminum enclosures your dog has their own space and with the right model (with a door) you can secure your pet if the situation deems necessary.

An added benefit of these houses is that they can

also function as an additional piece of furniture

and at 23" round and 18" tall they are not

intrusive.

An added feature includes a comfortable pad with

a removable cover for easy cleaning.

http://www.doowaggle.com/

Luxury Dog Houses

So it is time for a new dog house or perhaps the first house. In a perfect world our favorite friend would like to be able to get in the great outdoors, but without getting into trouble. Like digging up your prized rose bushes or chewing the garden hose in half. So how do we give our dog the best of both worlds? Give up? How about a kennel that is also a designer dog house? These are truly luxury dog houses we are talking about because your pet can have the feeling of being outside, yet have a private enclosure to get out of the harsh elements. With these custom designed kennels there is a composite floor that will not rot or mildew and is easy to clean and a stylish exterior, with two styles to choose from... a Cape Cod or Victorian design! These luxury dog houses

slash dog kennels come in kit form and are

delivered to your front door. Hire a handyman to assemble or roll up your sleeves grab the directions (you read the directions right?) and tackle the assembly yourself. Inside each house there is an enclosed area with an additional chain link cage to isolate your pet when it is time to clean house! So there you have it ...stylish, roomy (even big enough for 2 dogs) and you can even paint the house to match your present home!

Plant some flower and shrubs... surprise your dog with an open house!

http://www.doowaggle.com/

Duplex Dog Houses

Are you a two dog family that needs dog houses for two dogs?? If that is the case you may consider investing in duplex dog houses. While many pet owners let their pets reside indoors, things can get a little bit out of control with more than one dog indoors especially if they are large breed dogs. Some owners have turned to caging their pets but many people, especially home owners with fenced back yards, elect to let their dogs roam free outside during the day. This is a great alternative to pens but what do you do when your dogs are hot, tired, and in need of a place to rest and get out of the elements?

A dog house might seem like a good option until you consider the price of purchasing two individual dog houses. There are cheap houses available in pet stores and all over the internet but do you really want something cheap and ugly in your back yard? A cheap dog house can be an eye sore but two cheap dog houses is even worse. Instead of investing money on two unattractive houses invest in custom built duplex dog houses.

Cedar duplex dog houses or custom duplex dog houses are a beautiful creation that connects two dog houses with the option of removing the partition. This allows each dog their own area where they can rest in comfort protected from the elements. Also, duplex dog houses can be much more visually appealing than purchasing two separate dog houses.

Investing in a custom built home allows you to have some control regarding the outcome of the finished product, example being the type of siding, roofing material and whether to use wood or other materials.

It is wonderful to be a two dog family, it doubles your pleasure and they have each others company!
http://www.doowaggle.com/

Custom Dog Houses

So your dog needs a new house or maybe there is a new addition to the family and eventually they are going to need their own home. Purchasing a custom built dog house rather than an off shelf product gives your new dog or current dog or dogs the comfort they are worthy of!
So what exactly is a custom house? Rather than purchasing an off the shelf house, custom dog houses are constructed with various options in mind, such as insulation, climate control units, various siding options, roofing options, single or duplex houses.
Cedar has been used for many years because of its durability and its natural resistance to bugs. When properly maintained it can be an attractive addition to your landscape décor. No one wants an eye sore in their backyard especially if it used for entertaining.
There is also the option of a climate control so you reside in a climate where there is extreme heat or cold an ac/heater control unit may be a consideration. Coupled with an insulation factor these units are much for efficient and will provide maximum comfort for your pet.
http://www.doowaggle.com/

Dog Houses

Use your imagination and you can picture the scene, you are flying over several houses on an incoming flight into a major city. What do you see below? The houses, swimming pools, swing sets, the trash cans with one missing lid and then there in the corner is a dilapidated dog house! A feeble attempt by someone to construct a home for their beloved pet.
Or worse a cold plastic dog house that does little in the inclement weather!
So the solution? Oh thought you would never ask! The custom dog house! Dog houses have entered a new realm ..there are heated dog houses, insulated dog houses, duplex dog houses and luxury dog houses!
Yes luxury…take cedar wood (natural resistance to bugs) add an insulation value that is equal or better than most home construction, install a marine grade vinyl door, finish it off with a ridge cap and you have a insulated dog house fit for a king…. or at least your favorite pet!

You are saying that is fine and dandy but I have two bull mastiffs…no worries … go with a custom dog house or a cedar duplex dog house build for the large breed dogs! Like other custom or cedar dog houses extra large dog houses can feature the same luxury appointments!

Outdoor dog houses need not be ugly… with custom dog houses you can choose the siding that fits your backyard décor or perhaps the siding on your home!

So give your dog a home fit for royalty and the next flight over your house passengers will look down and go “Wow look at that mansion.. such a lucky dog..they must love their pet”
www.doowaggle.com

Dog houses for large breed dogs

A dog needs its personal ‘space’ ... just like a person would. When adopting a large breed Pit Bull I read what the experts had to say on training them. Give them their own space – something that is a ‘safe place’ for them, where they know they belong was key to training them. In the house we had a nice blanket – if we travelled we could take it with us. At home, she had her Home.... A dog house for a large breed dog. She loved it out there shaded from the sun, feeling the breeze. Like a vacation spot for her away from the noise of the house and the need to move time and time again when she wanted away from the noise, confusion and kids.
Keep in mind – Dogs are dogs... not cats. An 18 pound cat will happily cram it’s body into a shoe box or you will find it curled tightly on top of the DVD player in a ball sleeping on the warm surface. A Dog however likes to stretch out and to be comfortable so you need to give your Pet surroundings that fit and suit them. Imagine if you tried sleeping in a bed that was too small for you and your feet hung over the end …not comfortable!
I worked at a Kennel for several years and had an experience that reminded me of this need for space. A 135 LB Mastiff who was as gentle as a lamb when I entered his indoor run. Seemed happy to see me, we greeted each other and I opened the small wooden door that would let this gentle giant to his Outdoor run. It wasn’t raining, snowing; cold... he just stood frozen and would not go near the door. The door was large enough for him but in his mind he didn’t like going thru that smaller space to get where he needed to be. He was not afraid to go out because he happily dragged me down the hallway to the full size door that would lead him to the large out door run.
This was a new setting, unfamiliar to him and he was just not sure of the space. He needed to know that he was safe. Like a child clinging to his mother not sure of climbing a tree or running thru the tunnel at the park, the need to feel their space is a safe place. This big guy needed to know he was a ‘fit’ .... keep this in mind when choosing your pets personal space especially their Dog house as this area will be one they share with no one – they need to feel they are comfortable in it not confined.
