Some weddings are all about scale. Others are all about closeness – the kind where everyone knows everyone, the day moves quickly, and the venue feels less like a hired space and more like a beautiful home you all get to borrow for a few hours.

Edward & Jilla’s St Audries wedding was exactly that. They’d already done the legal ceremony, so this gathering was pure celebration – intimate, relaxed, and full of the kind of laughter you can’t stage.

A little venue context

St Audries Park is one of those venues that photographs beautifully without needing to try. The Orangery in particular gives a clean, bright, evenly lit feel that keeps skin tones soft and natural and lets emotion take centre stage. It’s elegant, but not fussy – a perfect setting for a small wedding where the focus is on people, not production.

A ceremony led by a friend - warm, personal, and properly them

The ceremony was conducted by a friend in the Orangery, with vows and ring exchange at the heart of it. That friend-led tone always brings something special – less formality, more presence. People listen harder when the words come from someone who genuinely knows the couple.

And then came one of our favourite sequences of the day.

Edward & Jilla laughing – not polite smiles, not posed happiness – but that ecstatic, can’t-hold-it-in kind of laughter. The look in Jilla’s eyes as they stood facing each other said everything. That deep, quiet certainty. The kind of connection you feel more than you see.

Confetti, sunshine, and that midweek calm

After the ceremony we rolled straight into confetti – quick, joyful, and full of movement.

Then the day opened out into sunshine, with guests chilling, wandering, and settling into the grounds. Their young son became the centre of gravity for a while – grandparents and older family members drawn to him, gathering around naturally. It added a softness to everything. A reminder that this wasn’t just a wedding – it was family, in real time.

This is the underrated magic of a midweek micro-style wedding. No airs and graces. No forced schedule. Just people treating the place like home from home.

Iranian touches - food, heirlooms, and the details that carry history

Before everyone went in for the wedding breakfast, we spent time capturing the cultural details that mattered – Iranian food elements, family heirlooms, and those small pieces of heritage that quietly carry weight.

These details are never just decoration. They’re memory anchors. The things you’ll still recognise instantly years from now.

Because coverage was focused on the ceremony and a few hours afterwards (no prep), those details became even more important – they helped tell the fuller story of who they are and where they come from, without needing anything forced.

The drone flight - because the weather was too good not to

After saying my goodbyes, I took the chance to fly the drone.

Perfect weather, a venue like St Audries, and that soft light on the landscape – it had to be done. Those aerials always add something special: a sense of place, scale, and atmosphere that ties the whole story together.

A pillar-box red entrance that stopped the day

The detail everyone will remember first is Sophie’s dad’s car.

A classic American convertible, pillar-box red, concours condition – the kind of vehicle that makes people turn their heads mid-sentence. He used it to bring Sophie to the front of the venue for her entrance, and it gave the day an instant dose of cinema.

A proper moment. And such a strong visual chapter in the story.

A friend-led ceremony, by design

They’d already taken care of the legalities earlier in the week, so the ceremony itself was about meaning rather than paperwork.

It was led by a friend, which always brings the best tone – personal, warm, and gently funny in places. The kind of ceremony where you can feel the room leaning in, because it’s not generic. It’s theirs.

Full-day coverage, midweek rhythm

We covered the full day, but the midweek format meant things moved naturally with a bit more pace.

Smaller guest numbers often create a different feel:

quicker hellos and hugs
less logistical drag between moments
speeches and reactions landing in a tighter, more intimate way
and more time actually spent together, rather than waiting for the next thing

James & Carly’s summer celebration at Knoll House in Studland, Dorset was exactly that. A chilled, family-organised wedding day in one of the most idyllic coastal spots in the county – with just enough chaos early on to remind us why documentary coverage exists.

A little venue context

Knoll House sits in Studland, right on the Dorset coast, with that rare mix of sea air, open lawns and a relaxed, old-school seaside charm. It’s ideal for couples who want their wedding to feel informal but still special – where guests can drift between ceremony, drinks and portraits without anyone feeling pinned to a schedule.

The helicopter that wasn’t a wedding guest

When we first arrived, family and friends were setting up the ceremony space in a field opposite the hotel. Everything looked beautifully in hand – until a helicopter touched down nearby.

For a moment, we assumed a very well-heeled guest was arriving in style.

Turns out, it had absolutely nothing to do with the wedding.

Someone completely unrelated had been looking for somewhere to land… to use the bathroom. Truly a different tier of life dilemma.

The bigger issue was the downdraft. It sent a good amount of the ceremony decor flying across the field, turning setup into a sudden scramble. Everyone laughed, everyone rallied, and the tone was set: this day was going to be real, unpolished in the best way, and full of character.

Coastal sunshine and that "this is going to be good" feeling

It was a glorious day to be down by the coast. One of those Dorset summer days where the air feels light and everyone’s already smiling before anything has started.

Positive vibes were everywhere. You could tell straight away this was going to be a cracking one.

Prep - chilled rooms, homegrown touches

Carly and her bridesmaids were getting ready at the hotel, calm and excited, no unnecessary stress. We flipped between Carly’s room, James’ prep, and keeping tabs on friends and guests adding personal touches to the setup.

A nice detail that helped the whole thing feel even more homegrown: James’ sister works at Knoll House, which meant the day had that extra layer of familiarity and ease. It felt less like “a venue booking” and more like everyone had settled into their own space for the day.

A ceremony led by a best friend - tender, funny, and perfectly them

Their ceremony was conducted by one of James’ best friends, which always brings a different kind of energy. You get warmth without formality, humour without it becoming a performance, and the feeling that the person leading it truly knows the couple.

It landed beautifully – a healthy mix of tenderness and fun, with guests fully present and invested.

Drinks on the lawns and portraits in dappled shade

After the ceremony, drinks were served out on the hotel lawns. Guests relaxed into that easy coastal flow – chatting, laughing, soaking up the sunshine.

We kept portraits simple and short, using pockets of dappled shade where we could. Nothing heavy. Nothing that stole them away from their people for long. Exactly as it should be for a day like this.

Speeches, roasts, and the best kind of inside jokes

Wedding breakfast speeches were on script in the best way. The best man did what best men are supposed to do – ridiculing the groom just enough to keep it funny without going too far.

But one of the loveliest touches was James & Carly handing out awards to guests – some for travelling the furthest, others for reasons only those in the know would understand.

It was personal, hilarious, and it made the room feel like a tight community rather than a crowd.

A half-day story - because the bigger wedding was still to come

This was a shorter, half-day coverage, and it suited the day perfectly. The whole celebration was intentionally chilled and family-led.

Because this wasn’t the only wedding.

James & Carly’s main wedding was coming a few weeks later in Las Vegas. Whether Elvis was overseeing that one… we couldn’t say. But we like to think there’s a strong chance.

A short portrait session in the field, then leaving some magic in the tank

We finished with a short portrait session back in the field opposite the hotel – short and sweet, a few frames to seal the story and mark the day properly.

Then we left them to it, with more in the tank for the big destination celebration to come.

Gemma & Nick - A Weymouth Beach Wedding Full of Sunshine, Sea Air and Proper Fun

Some couples arrive already knowing how we work. Gemma did, because we’d photographed her best friend Lucy and Paul’s wedding years earlier. Recommendation is everything, and Gemma was very clear from the start – we were a must-have.

So when their day arrived, it felt like we were joining something already warm and familiar, not walking into the unknown.

A little venue context

Weymouth is made for weddings that feel like a celebration and a holiday rolled into one – sea front energy, big skies, and a town that’s always alive in summer. Pair a church ceremony with a reception at the Pavilion right on the promenade, and you’ve got a day that naturally stays social, walkable, and full of movement.

Morning prep - two stories, one team

We worked as a two-person team, as we often do.

Will started with Nick and the groomsmen, capturing that quieter build-up before the ceremony. We stayed with Gemma and the girls, where the energy was bubbling nicely – the kind of prep where laughter and nerves sit side by side.

St John’s Church, Weymouth - then sunglasses and a confetti storm

Their ceremony was at St John’s Church in Weymouth, close to the sea front and right in the middle of town. And yes, it was another scorching hot day – the kind where Weymouth is heaving with holidaymakers and everyone is carrying ice creams and squinting into the sun.

As they walked out of the church, it hit properly.

Sunglasses on. Confetti everywhere. Huge smiles from everyone. Punchy colour and pure joy. One of those exits that instantly tells you what the rest of the day is going to feel like.

The promenade walk to the Pavilion

From there, the day stayed wonderfully Weymouth.

Everyone pretty much walked the length of the promenade up towards the Pavilion. No coaches, no splitting the guests, no awkward waiting around. Just a wedding party moving through the town together in sunshine, with that seaside buzz happening all around them.

Weymouth Harbour portraits - rowing boat taxi and lifeboat pride

Before they fully rejoined guests, we took a few minutes out for portraits that mattered to them.

Weymouth Harbour has that little rowing boat ferry service where two boatmen tag-team passengers from one side to the other. Gemma and Nick knew the guys, so we used it like our own personal photo shortcut.

Nick works on the lifeboats operating out of Weymouth, so he wanted a photo with Gemma waterside near one of the lifeboats. Being able to hop across on the boat taxi made it simple, and it gave us something more than just a pretty harbour backdrop – it gave us a photo with real meaning.

Then we walked past the rowing clubs and out to the jetty where Nick had proposed to Gemma months earlier. Always worth making time for places like that. They carry something you can’t fake.

Tokens for the amusement rides - genius idea, questionable timing

One of our favourite personal touches of the day was the ride tokens.

Gemma and Nick arranged for their guests to have tokens for free rides on the amusement attractions beside the Pavilion. It created brilliant photos – the couple mixing with guests, people laughing, the day feeling more like a festival than a formal reception.

The ride tokens were genius. The timing of a few guests’ drink choices? We’ll leave that there!

A proper Weymouth celebration

The energy from this crowd was unreal. Buzzing, playful, and fully committed to having a good time. It was the perfect Weymouth beach wedding experience – sun, sea air, movement, and a couple who just wanted to enjoy it with their people.

If you’re planning a Winchester Registry Office wedding and want it to feel intimate, relaxed and properly personal, Tian & Julius’ day is a perfect example of how good a small celebration can be.

This was a micro wedding with a tight guest list made up mostly of friends – and a handful of family. Tian is from Hong Kong, and her brother was the only family member able to attend, which made every moment feel even more meaningful.

A little venue context

Winchester Registry Office (Hampshire Register Office) sits right in the centre of historic Winchester at Castle Hill, inside a beautiful 19th-century civic building.
It offers multiple ceremony rooms, which makes it a brilliant option for smaller, midweek and short-format weddings.

On this particular day, we were very grateful for those thick walls – it was scorching outside.

A cottage, a Golden Retriever, and a classic Mustang

Tian and Julius rented a small cottage just outside Winchester to get ready, keeping the morning calm and contained. Their Golden Retriever was right at the heart of the day too – not an add-on, not an afterthought, but a proper member of the story (and definitely part of the photos).

Then came one of our favourite details: a classic Mustang to transport them to the ceremony. Two separate trips. Full enjoyment. No rushing. Just soaking it all in.

Inside the ceremony room - cool shade and quiet focus

Even inside the registry office, the heat was making itself known – fans blasting, air circulating – but compared to the midday sun it felt like a relief.

The ceremony itself was short, simple, and quietly emotional. Legalities observed, a few smiles and glances shared, and then straight outside into the brightness for confetti, portraits and a handful of small group shots.

Once the essentials were captured, we headed out for a short portrait detour.

A 20-minute detour to The Gurkha Museum - strong lines, bold backdrops

We took a quick drive over to The Gurkha Museum at Peninsula Barracks, using its architectural facades and bold structure as a backdrop.

Midday sun is always a challenge, but it’s also an opportunity – we used the hard light where it worked, then stepped into shade when we needed softness. Clean lines, strong contrast, and a set of portraits that felt modern, calm and confident.

Pub time, cake, and letting the day breathe

With the portraits done, it was back to the pub to rejoin everyone – cake cutting, a drink in hand, and that lovely feeling micro weddings do so well: time to actually talk to people.

Hannah & Will’s wedding at Hope Farm is one of those brilliant days that nearly slipped through the net – and honestly, it deserves its moment. Perfect summer weather, a venue that feels like its own little world, and a couple so relaxed they quietly reset the definition of what a wedding day can look like.

A little venue context

Hope Farm is a family-run wedding venue in West Dorset, set in a secluded valley with barns, gardens and countryside views – plus a friendly herd of alpacas (and other farm residents) that guests can’t help but gravitate towards.
It’s also built for flexible, chilled celebrations, with licensed indoor and outdoor ceremony options across the barn, woodland and gardens, and space for up to 120 guests.

The one detail we completely misread

This is the part that still makes us laugh.

Hannah & Will booked us for our relaxed, observational documentary style… but we didn’t quite clock that they were also that relaxed. Comfort-first, all day.

So while we turned up in standard wedding-working attire, Will was out here living his best life in shorts and trainers. Sensible. Cool. Unbothered. And by mid-afternoon, as the heat climbed, we were quietly wishing we’d got the memo.

A young family, a babe in arms, and a day designed to actually be enjoyed

Hannah & Will were a young professional couple with a baby, and they did something really smart – they had childcare support on site, so they could be present for the day while knowing their little one was fully looked after.

It meant they could relax into the moment without that constant low-level stress. And that calm filtered through everything.

Walking down the aisle together - deck chairs and all

Guests gathered out in the sun, and then the most perfectly on-brand thing happened.

Hannah and Will simply walked out of their cottage doors and headed down to the ceremony together – aligned, calm, and totally themselves – towards the registrar and a sea of guests sitting on multicoloured deck chairs.

Honestly, can it get more laid back than that?

Readings from friends, personal vows, and a ceremony that carried genuine feeling without feeling heavy. The sort of atmosphere where tears and laughter can sit side-by-side without anyone trying to force either.

Confetti on the stone steps - and they actually ran it

Hope Farm has these brilliant stone steps leading from the lower cottages up towards the barns – amazing for group photos, but absolutely lethal (in the best way) for a confetti run.

Hannah & Will didn’t just walk it. They ran it.

Cameras in motor drive mode, confetti flying, guests roaring – the kind of sequence you can almost hear when you look back at it.

Drinks, sunshine, alpacas, and that easy countryside flow

Once the ceremony was done, the day opened out.

Guests mingled, sunfactor came out in bulk, and people drifted into the grounds, exploring the valley setting and inevitably making friends with the alpacas.

This is one of the reasons we love photographing weddings at venues like Hope Farm – everything is close, everyone relaxes faster, and the day naturally becomes a collection of real moments rather than a schedule.

The garden speech - and why it made the photos feel different

One of the most memorable parts of the day was Will’s speech.

Instead of the usual indoor setup, he delivered it outside in the gardens, with guests gathered informally around him (and those deck chairs). It gave us completely different angles and layers to work with – people reacting naturally, laughter moving through the group, little side glances and shoulder nudges you don’t always get in a formal room.

And the ending – Will toasting Hannah and the guests – was one of those simple, perfect moments that just lands.

Golden hour in the long grass

Later, as the light softened, we stole a bit of time for portraits – out in the neighbouring field, walking through long grasses and letting the warm evening glow do its thing.

A few simple prompts, a bit of space to breathe, and suddenly you get those frames where you can see them really absorbing the day they’ve created. Rustic backdrops, soft light, and the kind of calm that feels earned.

We were so happy with what we captured.

Fi & Tim’s wedding at Lytchett Minster School was a first for us – and honestly, it couldn’t have landed better. Warm sunshine, a venue that felt deeply personal, and a day that swung perfectly between heartfelt and hilarious.

A little venue context

Lytchett Minster School is a properly unique Dorset wedding venue – a manor house setting with multiple licensed ceremony options including the Walled Secret Garden, the Garden Terrace, and indoor rooms like the Gallery Room.

That Secret Garden is exactly what it sounds like: secluded, sheltered, and ideal for a ceremony where everyone feels close and present, without the wind doing its thing.

Why this venue mattered to Fi

This wasn’t a random venue pick. The village connection made total sense once we learned Fi used to be a pupil here – real ties to the place, real memories, and the kind of choice that makes a wedding feel rooted rather than rented.

It set the tone straight away: personal, relaxed, and very much about celebrating with their people.

The ceremony - heart-shaped sunnies and a piper’s welcome

Guests gathered in the walled garden, tucked away from the outside world, sunlight pouring in. Then came one of those details that instantly tells you what the day’s going to be like: the bridesmaids waiting for Fi’s arrival in heart-shaped sunglasses.

Fi’s uncle is a Scottish piper, and that sound cutting through the air as she arrived was something else – ceremonial, emotional, and a little bit goosebump-inducing. And after the ceremony, he didn’t just play – he escorted the wedding party around the building to the drinks area, turning that short walk into its own moment.

A venue with space for guests to actually enjoy themselves

One of the things we loved about the grounds is how naturally guests could spread out and settle in. There’s a real sense of different pockets happening at once – exactly what you want for documentary coverage.

And the nature pond? Absolute gold for the kids. While the adults chatted and sipped, the youngsters were pond dipping for tadpoles and little creatures, completely absorbed and having the time of their lives.

The ceilidh - chaos and joy in equal measure

The standout chapter of the day was the ceilidh band and caller. If you know, you know.

They injected equal parts chaos and fun into the room and had everyone involved – guests rushing up and down the lines, a few collisions here and there, and constant laughter because nobody is pretending they’re graceful. That’s the point.

From a photography point of view, it was a dream: movement, expressions, connection, comedy – everything you’d want.

Golden hour portraits on the playing fields

As the light softened, we stole Fi & Tim away for a few gently led portraits out on the school playing fields. Nothing heavy, nothing staged – just a short breather and some space to be together, with golden hour doing what golden hour does best.

Festival bride mode - and the perfect sign-off

Later on, Fi changed into full party gear: a huge glittery sequinned jumpsuit and instant festival bride energy. A quick spin on the dancefloor with Tim, then Tim had his father-daughter dance, and at that point it felt right for us to step back and leave them to it.

Some wedding days give you space to breathe. Others are full-throttle theatre from the first minute to the last.

Payal & Tom’s Pennard House wedding was the second kind – an Indian fusion celebration with two ceremonies in one day, multiple outfit changes (three or four by our count), and a schedule that left almost no room for the usual quiet gaps.

And it worked, because the heart of it all was simple: honour both cultures properly, keep the family close, and make it feel like them.

A little venue context

Pennard House is one of those Somerset venues that suits this kind of wedding brilliantly. The gardens are perfect for an outdoor ceremony, and the house has that relaxed, welcoming feel where guests can drift, gather, and celebrate without it ever feeling formal for the sake of it. It’s ideal for couples who want their day to feel like a lived experience, not a staged production.

One day, two ceremonies, zero downtime

This wedding was essentially a beautifully choreographed sprint.

Civil ceremony and vows first – then later, an outdoor Hindu ceremony in the garden. With so much packed in, the usual breathing space between key moments disappeared. Instead, the day moved like a story with chapters that turned quickly, each one different in tone and energy.

What made it work was how coordinated everyone was. Families moving together, helping each other, making sure the right people were where they needed to be. The kind of teamwork you only see when a wedding is truly about connection.

The aisle moment we won’t forget

Payal’s entrance was one of those moments where the emotion sits right at the surface.

She walked with her dad and her uncle – a powerful detail in itself – and you could feel the weight of family and tradition in those few steps.

And then as she drew near to Tom, her reaction was priceless. She threw her head back with this beaming smile – pure joy, pure release – the kind of moment you don’t pose or plan. You just witness it.

Confetti, quick family photos, then straight into Part 2

After the first ceremony, we moved fast.

Confetti run – a handful of key family group photos – then guests were into drinks while Payal and Tom (and the central players around them) disappeared to change into Indian attire for the second ceremony.

This is where the day started to shift gears.

Tom’s tractor baraat - loud, joyful, and completely unforgettable

No horse for Tom’s big Indian entrance – so he arrived on a tractor.

Impressed? We were.

It was noisy, playful, and epic in the way only Indian wedding energy can be. Dhol drummers whipping everyone up. Guests cheering. Tom being lifted onto shoulders and carried through into the gardens to be presented to Payal’s family.

The whole thing felt like a proper arrival – not just an entrance, but a statement: we’re here, we’re doing this, and we’re all in.

The outdoor Hindu ceremony - colour, symbolism, and proper fun

Hindu ceremonies always bring that brilliant blend of meaning and playfulness.

Yes, there’s deep symbolism – commitment, family blessing, the sacred fire, the idea of two lives being joined within something bigger than just paperwork.

But there’s also joy. Teasing. Competition. Laughter.

Feeding sweets to one another (a sweet gesture in every sense – symbolising care and shared happiness). Then the classic ring game – hunting for rings in a bowl of coloured water, both of them determined to win. The photos always deliver here: expressions, movement, everyone leaning in, the whole ceremony feeling alive rather than observed.

Ceremony two done – and straight back into another outfit change.

The reception - speeches with bite, hugs with meaning, and a party that hit top gear

For the third change of the day, Payal and Tom stepped into formal evening wear and looked unreal walking into their reception to be greeted by their guests.

And the guest energy? Special.

There’s always one table that sets the pace early – you know the kind – already deep into the shots and chasers before the starters land. When it came time for speeches, that raucous energy lifted the whole room.

But it wasn’t just loud. It was sincere.

The speeches had real warmth – the kind that makes you laugh hard, then quietly swallow a lump in your throat a minute later. Proper connection. Proper family.

The dance-off finale - girls vs boys and a lift that sealed the night

The grand finale, as with so many Indian weddings, was a dance-off.

Girls vs boys, full performance energy, everyone getting involved. And right at the end, Tom lifted Payal and swirled her around the room – the kind of moment that makes a crowd erupt because it’s equal parts romance and pure showmanship.

From there, the party accelerated into top gear.

That’s when we did what we love doing: step back, quietly retreat, and leave them to it. Cameras away. Guests only. The night belonging fully to their friends.

Archie & Reece - A Dorset Home Wedding Full of Heat, Heart and One Legendary Worm

Some weddings feel polished. Some feel powerful. Archie & Reece’s day felt like pure freedom – a gay wedding at Archie’s family home in the heart of Dorset, built around the people they love and the space that shaped them.

It was also absolutely roasting when we arrived. Proper summer heat. The kind that makes you slow down, sip water constantly, and appreciate thick old walls like they’re a luxury product.

And the house? Unreal.

Stables, courtyards, patios, secluded garden pockets – then it opens out into rolling lawn, ponds, treehouses, and one backdrop after another. A private estate that felt designed for celebration.

Morning prep - groomsmaids, good walls, and the calm before the cheers

I started with Reece and his groomsmaids getting ready in the main house. Despite the heat outside, the solid walls kept things surprisingly comfortable – a calm little bubble while the energy built.

What I loved was how early Archie & Reece carved out time for family. Way before ceremony time, they met with parents and siblings to exchange gifts, reconnect, and have a few grounding moments together before the formalities kicked in.

They also did something I wish more couples would do: a handful of small group photos early on – just essentials. Parents, siblings, groomsmaids, close people. Done and dusted.

It meant that after the ceremony, there was no jarring pause where everyone gets dragged away for photos. The day could just flow.

The ceremony - walking in together with Thor

Guests gathered on the lawn, taking their seats as ceremony time approached. People sliding into place, helping out, doing those quiet little duties that happen at home weddings – chairs, drinks, last-minute ties, someone finding a missing buttonhole.

And then the entrance.

Archie and Reece walked down the aisle together, beaming ear to ear, with their dog Thor right beside them.

A perfect scene. The kind that instantly tells you what the day is about.

Thor was handed to a friend as they took their places, and yes – he was a ring bearer. And yes – he ran in a straight line down the aisle like a total professional. Absolute hero.

Speeches in the garden amphitheatre

After the ceremony, everyone drifted into the back garden for speeches.

The space worked like a natural amphitheatre, which meant it felt intimate even with a crowd. Great energy. Great sound. And as a photographer, it made for brilliant images – layers of guests, reactions, laughter moving through the crowd.

This is the magic of home weddings. You’re not confined to one room. You’re moving through spaces that have history, texture, and meaning.

Portraits - and yes, it was a three-person shoot

With a setting like this, we were spoilt for choice for portraits.

Ponds, themed garden areas, secluded corners, long lawns, and pockets of shade that made the light feel soft even in midday heat.

And of course, Thor joined us. It wasn’t a couple shoot. It was a family shoot.

Wedding breakfast speeches - Reece squirming, four frames of pure comedy

Wedding breakfast speeches came next, delivered by groomsmaids and best men.

And there’s a sequence I can still see in my head: four photos in a row of Reece slowly squirming with embarrassment as the speech lands.

You know the kind. That mix of laughing, hiding your face, and thinking, “Please don’t tell that story.”

It was hilarious. And very, very human.

The party - and the worm nobody saw coming

When the dancing started, it properly started.

Guests throwing shapes. Energy rising. The kind of dancefloor where people forget who’s watching and just go for it.

And then a moment I wasn’t expecting, and honestly hadn’t seen before at a wedding:

Rosie & James - A North Cadbury Court Wedding That Used Every Corner of the Estate

North Cadbury Court is one of those venues we never tire of. It’s a Somerset favourite for a reason – elegant, warm, and full of spaces that let a wedding day unfold naturally. We’re also proud to be listed as one of their recommended suppliers, and Rosie & James’ wedding was a perfect example of why this place works so well when couples really lean into it.

A little venue context

North Cadbury Court gives you options without overwhelming you. Gardens and quiet corners when you want space, character-filled rooms when you want atmosphere, and a flow that makes it easy to move through the day without it ever feeling like you’re being herded from one moment to the next. It’s a dream for documentary storytelling because life can happen in multiple places at once – and it all still feels connected.

Morning energy - golf balls, snooker cues, and a quiet moment just for them

Rosie & James didn’t just use North Cadbury Court – they maximised it.

James and his groomsmen made the most of the venue early on – striking golf balls on the rooftop driving range, drifting through the snooker room, and soaking up those pre-ceremony hours together.

But what balanced all that energy was the quieter thread running underneath it all.

Before they left for church, Rosie and James exchanged little gifts and notes – opened and read in private, a small moment of grounding before the bigger moments arrived. Those are the parts of the day couples rarely forget – and exactly the kind of thing we love to catch quietly, without interrupting.

St Michael’s church ceremony - then the best kind of exit

They chose the on-site church of St Michael’s for their ceremony, which gave the day that lovely sense of tradition and calm. No rushing across counties. No logistical stress. Just a short walk and a deep breath before the doors open.

And when they came back down the aisle together – it was properly jubilant. Big smiles, that lifted feeling of “we did it”, and guests feeding off the energy.

Outside, the confetti run was animated and loud in the best way.

Then came one of our favourite little scenes of the day: the couple jumping into a golf buggy waiting outside, pimped out with string and tin cans dragging behind. Rosie took the wheel, and drove her new husband back around the corner to the main building, laughing the whole way.

Sunshine, bubbly, lawn games - and North Cadbury at its best

Back at the house, guests were drinking bubbly, eating canapes, and playing lawn games in the sun.

This is where North Cadbury really shines. It gives people space to relax, roam, and settle into the day at their own pace. Conversations happen naturally. Old friends reunite. New friends are made without effort. It feels like a celebration, not a schedule.

Wedding breakfast warmth - and a brilliant modern twist

The wedding breakfast brought the room together again, and speeches were warming – the kind that land with honesty and affection, with enough humour to keep things light.

One of the best touches was Zoom calls to “would be” best men on the other side of the world – a simple idea, but such a meaningful way to include the people who mattered, even when travel couldn’t happen.

Those little modern twists can hit surprisingly hard.

The liveliest party animals we’ve seen in a long time

And then… the evening arrived.

This was one of the liveliest groups of party animals we’ve come across. The kind of crowd that doesn’t need encouragement, doesn’t need a slow build, and definitely doesn’t need reminding where the dancefloor is.

Drinking. Laughing. Proper shapes being thrown.

Both Rosie and James spent a serious amount of time being carried high above heads on the dancefloor – one of those scenes that tells you everything about the energy in the room.

It was one hell of a ride.
