Damn it's been a fuckin long time since I posted last. Fuck, sorry about that everyone. I completely forgot. Well, A while ago I had the Creation of a Hack post which seems to be the most popular post on here so I thought I'd throw a little more out there. By Law, I can do some things but not others. Quick Network Hack

Step 1: Download, install and run Cain & Abel at http://www.oxid.it/cain.html.
Step 2: Click "Configure" in the top bar.
Step 3: In the "Sniffer" tab, click the adapter which is connected to
the network to be sniffed, then click "Apply", then "OK".
Step 4: Click the "Sniffer" tab in the main window.
Step 5: Click the network card in the top bar (2nd icon from the left).
Step 6: Click the "+" button in the top bar.
Step 7: Select "All hosts in my subnet", click "OK". Entries should
appear in the main window under the "IP address", "MAC address" and
"OUI fingerprint" headings.
Step 8: From the "Sniffer" tab, click "APR" in the bottom tab.
Step 9: Click the top right pane in the main window. Click the "+"
button in the top bar.
Step 10: Click on the router in the left pane. The router is generally
the entry which has the lowest final IP value (xxx.xxx.xxx.*).
Highlight the IP addresses to sniff in the right pane. Click "OK".
Step 11: Click the ARP icon in the top bar (3rd icon from the left).
Wait until other users have logged into websites on other computers.
Depending on the size of the network and the traffic which this
network receives, this can range from minutes to hours.
Step 12: After some time has passed, click "Passwords" in the bottom tab.
Step 13: In the left pane, select the bolded entries. The right pane
should show the time, server, username, password (in plaintext) and
site accessed.

Please use this tutorial with caution as most private institutions, as
well as countries, have strict rules and laws against network sniffing
and could lead to expulsion from an institution, as well as critical
litigation! This tutorial is for educational purposes only and should

Ok, so not everyone is going to be able to use these, but afterward I'll point some things out.

Ok, first off...Who has noticed all these companies with reward points and discounts for having one of "their cards?" It's not even a credit card. It's just another step between you and good service. Also, with these cards, companies can track your purchases and get information about you.
Speedway - popular gas station in some places - has the speedy rewards card.
Kroger - popular grocery store in some places - has the kroger plus card.
Dick's Sporting Goods - come on, I'm not gonna spell it out for you - has the dick's score card.

What are we to make of these? Should we chok these up to being a big sham by the corporations?

I say nay. Granted, the companies are raping us slowly and the rich are only getting richer while the poor are only getting poorer. How bout you try some things out? I found out that if you use the Kroger card at Speedway, it'll work. The Speedway card works ar Kroger as well. This means, that if one card offers you crap benefits, i.e. Kroger's shitty bonuses, you can use your Speedway card instead in order to have points put toward some free or cheaper gas.

I say test some shit out. Try your whatever card at Dick's. Use your Best Buy card at Babbage's. Figure out what works where. The employees...A: don't give enough of a shit to care whether you use the right card...and B: are paid to keep you happy and if you cause enough of a scene they'll either let you do it, or call security. Big Deal....Get out there and try. Post successful results here.

Ok, a few good pages worth seeing. First off is Twango. This site lets you upload your media for free and allows others to view it. It's like a YouTube for everything. I'm a member on this site, in fact, you can listen to some music I modified and posted.
Fotki is a similar site but takes it's use into other venues as well including news quotes on the main page and allowing a further expanse of attainable knowledge.

I promised Laptop shit, so here it is. I'm not going to explain it as it is quite illegal, but because I believe it shouldn't be I'll at least put a link to it.

Ok, so lately I've been busy with school and as of this week I've been sick so I've been in a pissy mood. Somebody messages me on aim about hacking hackshield and they're being a complete fucktard about it. Well I tell em I can't give him any cheats and this little fucking piece of shit tried to hack my computer. Yea thats right, tried...he couldn't mask his ip address, or cover his tracks at all, no he just tried to directly connect and thought I wouldn't notice. Me being sick I wasn't in the best of moods so I destroyed his computer, yes folks thats right...Some complete moron was trying to be a dick and I removed his safety shutdown protocols and overclocked his processors to 300ghz. His shit probably fried in his computer, the shit probably caught fire...I say this because I've tested it on one of my old pcs and I saw the same thing happen.
I started laughing out loud to myself in a hysterical fit of enjoyment as his computer just dissapeared.

After sitting here a while I started thinking, man I am an asshole. This kid who probably knows nothing about computers , which I determined from his need for game hacks and lack of masking his ip, was probably on his parents computer hastling me for some random bullshit, tried some stuff he saw on some random website and got his shit ganked! This kid's balls probably haven't even dropped yet. Now he's got to explain how he destroyed his parents computer to them and, this being America, the Dad's probably a drunk who'll beat him over it but not just him but his mom too since she was the one that gave birth to him. Also depending on where they live their nationality changes as well as their home status. Here he'd be white trash, most likely in a trailer mom pregnant and dad's beating the hell out of her too. Down south he'd be black working with more gang problems, especially in the bigger cities, as well as all the racial bullshit. Out west he'd most likely be mexican and his mom and sister would both be pregnant, he'd be the youngest son, the dad would have left and the computer would be a big brothers...Now the brother's gonna get drunk and beat his ass, the sister's the mom's and the other siblings. So in retalliating on this one fucking moron I've caused a massive chain reaction that started a whole bunch of shit...

I figure I should have just cut my hair into a mullet, beaten the hell out of a pregnant white woman, a pregnant mexican woman, a pregnant mexican teenager, a black woman, committed 3 hate crimes, 3 sex crimes, child abuse, possible manslaughter, possible murder, probably prevented a few of those babies from being born from beating the hell out of the women, and started the makings of a future cereal killer while double fisting 40s.

Ok, I posted a blog a few months back about creating a hack and bypassing Hackshield. This one post has generated so much commotion that I have been hit with email after email as well as message after message...Even a few months later. Well I think this time I'm going to focus on another type of hack

Cheating - N - any behavior outside the rules intended to give an unfair advantage to one or more.

How about cheating for keeps...Casinos, The Protector V.2 is a combination of hardware and software "firmware" that is designed to prevent cheating in slot machines and video poker machines.

Unlike previous solutions that have been somewhat effective on only a few cheating methods, the Protector V.2 completely denies access to the slot machines of all major manufacturers, and has been proven effective on all known methods of hopper cheating, including, but not limited to:

Ladies and gentlemen...today is my first day back to school this semester so I thought I'd post a blog about conning money out of your school. This con isn't easy and actually requires some planning, but if school comes natural to ya then it should all work out.

Ok, first get scholarships...I got a few good ones and my 6k tuition was successfully dropped down to $48...This is good, the less you have to pay the better. Secondly you have to be well versed in one specific topic that is pretty unique to your area, Like speaking Japanese in the middle of bum fuck nowhere WV. This means you can help teach a class...Being TA or teachers aide will have your tuition covered. Since this is kinda an unofficial position, then your tuition being waved doesn't come into play till about a month into school. This means all the money that was put into your tuition already, including scholarships, gets kicked out into however you paid your tuition, IE cash, credit, or check...

Net Neutrality

Ok, for those who are interested in politics as well as computers an idea has come to pass as of late...that idea? Net Neutrality.

This is a very important matter and depending on how this plays out could shape the future of the technological market. Recently this bill failed because of HORs, I mean the House of Reps of course. Big companies are trying to kill this bill because they want to restrict your access as well as charge you more for information that you already get for free. When I heard of all this going down I wrote my representative a mean letter...I hope you do too, if they voted against that is.

I know, you're thinking, how would this be a bother to me, well it would be a bother to everyone. Having to engage in a "Pay to Play" internet idealism would be shattering to the schools and households of the country. There are a few websites to look up info on Net Neutrality such as Save the Internet and We Are The Web. Please, don't take this for granted and don't just take my word for it.

Do some research and check on it for yourself. Wiki or just google it.

Genuine Interest or Complete Assholery?

Ok, this is just something I'm gonna talk about. No real hacking tips or anything but you do get to see a rant. A while ago I posted a blog entitled "The creation of a hack" Afterwhich was followed by a slew of emails all pertaining to hacking "Kal Online". It has really gotten quite sad really. The first 2-3 people who asked about it showed genuine interest in acquiring knowledge that would lead them to further intellectual thought. Not so much for the recent ones.

The first ones asked how I went about each process, which I was fine explaining as within the limits of the law that I could get away with.

The entirity of the email read "how would i go about creating a hack for oh say kalonline?" this made me very sad. Here we obviously have a kid, probably age 12-14...most likely a boy who is stupid as hell and only want to be an annoyance to others within the game. I know, I was one once.

Ok, so apparently my blog, among all other blogspot blogs were banned in india. This means that if you're in India you can't read what I'm typing but I'm still gonna try to get a message through.

If you go to here, here or here you should still be able to view my blog due to these simple bypasses in the internet. The first is through a translation program. The second one is a pakistan based website and the other is a google moble search engine.

Also I started a feedburner account. Plus I modified a few more things on the blog to make it more access friendly. Also, if you have my RSS feed to look at then you'll be fine as that'll bypass it.

Ok, now this could be considered out right stealing which is why I didn't do this but I still considered it. Yes, Walmart once again.

Ok, first off, we got some pictures developed from a trip to the beach and I found that they would have let us carry them out without paying in the slightest bit as they don't require you to pay where you get them developed. So, not only is it one hour photo, but it's free.

The next one seems a little more sketchy legally. The photo thing is nothing, I mean, fuck them, their fault. This one is a little different. First you go to the section with all the shaving bullshit. We found this travel bag with a razor, shaving cream, etc...in it. Next, shove whatever you can possibly fit in that motherfucker in it. But the travel bag, trust me, they won't check inside cause they don't get paid enough to care.

Congrats now you have some worthless bullshit. This is where it gets better. If you picked the right, i.e. the most expensive pointless crap, to shove in it then you can take it back, without a receipt, for store credit. Granted it's money you can only use in Walmart, but it's free money none the less. They don't lose any stock as the pieces that went "missing" magically appear again after you return the shit...maybe you wanna return it to a different Walmart, if it's like it is here then you have 4 avaliable within a 10 minute drive.

I know there isn't a lot in this post but gimme a break...I just got back from the beach where computers were the furthest thing from my mind.

Personal Wiki

Ok, today I set up my own personal "Wiki" on my 1 gig thumb drive. It was quite easy once you knew what all to do.

First you need to pick which wiki you want to install. Upon a great deal of searching I found there are literally hundreds. I picked "Media Wiki" because it's easy to use, and it's the same used by Wikipedia, a popular online encyclopedia. Also, please look up the requirements of whichever wiki you choose to use. Media Wiki required Apache, MySQL, and PHP in order to run.

Actually because of the other things required I turned to WAMP5! Yes, this all in one, do it yourself program was ever so helpful in the long run. It installs all 3, Apache server, MySQL, and PHP5 in one swoop while also giving me a handy systool that sits in my systray to control the lot of em.

Upon installing WAMP5 which comes first, I extracted Media Wiki to Wamp's "www" directory. Since we're dealing with a web basis I went to the http://localhost/ and modified my php settings a bit, add a password, modify upload and download limitations, etc.

Finally I went to my new Wiki at http://localhost/akwiki

From here, since it hasn't been yet, the wiki wants you to set it up. All of this is very basic. After that congrats, start editing you silicon samurai, you coding cowboys...you princes of your own domain.

Father's Day Gift Gone Awry

OK, so the other day a friend of mine ordered a really nice laptop from Gateway. I mean this was decked out...decent processor, not the strongest but we didn't want it overheating, 2g of ram, biggest hd you can put in it, swivel screen, touchscreen, good bit of accessories...the works. June 12th they call to confirm the credit card number and some other stuff then inform that the laptop shouldn't have any problems but may be a little late. Well the delivery date is June 14th 2006. June 14th comes and the only thing delivered is a power adapter for which you can use in the car or in an airplane. We check the website and it says that the order is still bring processed.

Ok, little odd, lets call gateway support and figure it out. We call in and they inform us that it'll take another day or two because it's being made in China. Sounds good to us, we just want it to get here before Father's day as it's a gift. They inform us it should ship out on the 15th. Good to know. 15th comes and as we're world traversed we know that china is 13 to 15 hours ahead of us. Thus when it's nighttime here we check the website again, no change...still processing. We call back and get another customer service person and they inform us that there is a "parts shortage" and this laptop can't be built for a while.

Parts shortage? the hell? How does a computer company get a parts shortage. Not enough RAM come in this month? Get shipped the wrong sized hd's? I mean your job is to build computers...Has the demand for computers been so strong this month that you literally ran out of the components to build a laptop or is it that this laptop is just too badass for your abilities? We did put everything on it you'd possibly imagine...good stuff. Anyway, back to ragging on Gateway.

They then inform us that the laptop won't be delivered until around the 28th. Damn!, that's 10 days after Father's Day. That's a little late to give the guy a gift ya know what I mean? So we go ahead and cancel the order for the laptop and tell them that we intend to keep the already delivered power adapter as it'll work with the other laptops owned. The person on the phone agreed and canceled the laptop order.

The next morning they call my friend's Cell Phone...They inform him that the adapter has already been mailed out and that when it gets there he should just turn it away and it'll be shipped back. Wait a second, didn't we tell them that the laptop already came and we planned on keeping that we just didn't want the laptop anymore?...Dumbasses.

So, being perturbed, my friend writes an email to the guy in charge of the customer service and actually got an expediated response. He basically said how badly the company had fucked up and appologized. He also informed us that the laptop was still going to be built and had become the top priority at the factory. He also informed us that if we still want to purchase it then it will be expediated especially for us...This guy's a smooth talker, I like him, tell us whatever we wanna hear even if it is bullshit.

Anyway, we really want this laptop because, well, it's really nice. So we tell him that we still want it and to reinstate the order. We get the word that the new delivery date is between the 23rd and the 25th. Still a little late...assholes, but then he threw in free overnight shipping along with some other free shit.

Damn, Gateway needs to get their act together...I mean, they've been around for a good amount of time. Haven't they figured it out yet? So we decided that after this laptop is delivered we don't plan on giving them anymore business...our own personal boycott, and I urge you to do the same.

p.s. If this laptop worked out well we were planning on replacing the entire home office for the small business we have going on. 10 laptops...That sucks for them since each laptop woulda been another $2,500 ish in their pockets.

Long time

Ok, I know it's been 2 weeks since my last post but I'm a college student on summer vacation who likes to hit the sauce...if you don't know what that means, well...good for you.

Anyway for this post I will outline a few uses for the most amazing of snack foods...The Gummi Bear.

Speaking on the previous topic I just wanna throw out a random "Conspiracy Theory" if you can call it that but rather a bit of fun. The gummi bears cartoon taught children how to be alcoholics. It's true. Think about it, a bunch of underagers drinking the magical potion made out of berries...suddenly they can't feel pain. They're bouncing all over the damned place...anyway, back to the uses of gummi bears.

First off, Bypassing fingerprint scanners. YES a gummi bear is the MacGyver tool of the future. Japanese cryptographer Tsutomu Matsumoto actually figured this out...Whoo, go Japan!

Back to it, This crazy Japanese guy went all out. He melted and molded the gummi into a finger, used fumes from superglue to expose the fingerprint on a glass, photographed it, printed it on the finger, and fooled 4 out of 5 scanners. Intense. Plus, you get caught...eat the evidence for a tasty treat. The kicker is that this problem was found out last year and not a damn thing has been done to fix it.

And another thing...Bomb.

Yes use a gummi bear in a bomb. I bet I'm setting off internet security sensors and scanners as we speak. A bomb! Potassium Chlorate, KClO3, is amazing stuff. You can find it in just about any high school chem lab and it's fun to play with. Good fact to know is this chemical was used in WWII as a plastic explosive...but not only that, it was THE MOST COMMON used. Whew! It starts as a powder but when you heat it, it becomes a liquid...thats what we like. Once it's a liquid add the gummi bear to it for a Highly volitile reaction. Yes, the sucrose in the gummi bear can blast a door open when you add some of this chemical.

Didn't I say it was the MacGyver tool of the future. So you're infiltrating a Government lab, what do you do...First you use your Gummi finger to bypass all the fingerprint scanners, then using some molten potassium chlorate you blow open a door to get to whatever they're holding. Damn...gummi bears are wonderful.

But wait...for all of you big breast lovers out there who find yourself in a world of members of the Itty Bitty Titty Committee...Gummi bears are now used for breast implants!!!

YES! as of 2005 "gummy bear" or "high-cohesive, form-stable implants" have been on the market as the fourth generation of silicon breast implants and let me tell you it's looking good. I mean the short terms are over and now they only need a 10-20 year leak evaluation so it'll be a lil bit...But think...

Holograms?

Just a quick post this time since the last post was pretty damn long.

First off, Holographic displays. Most instances of this seem like science fiction out of Star Trek or Star Wars. Suprisingly this technology is very close to being perfected and becoming science fact.

There are a slew of different companies trying to create a good hologram. The Physical Oprics Corp. is one such organization. Written in 1997 there was a document by an MIT student, working for IBM, explaining the theory and possibilities of it all.

Suprisingly the best and closest to an actual hologram, in my opinion, is a company that claims it's not a hologram at all but rather the Heliodisplay. Just check out some of the videos on the site and you'll see what I mean...I need one of those.

The creation of a hack

Ok, this will all in all, detail an email conversation I had with someone directly quoting pretty much all of it. Someone, I will withold the name of the person due to legal stuff, asked me through an email about Hackshield and how they would go about hacking it. I didn't know what game they were using till about half way through, which was KAL online, but with my previous experience in hacking I tried my best, I don't know if any of this'll be useful but there's a lot of crap information out there.

Well ----, I haven't personally had any experience dealing with hackshield but if it does work like punkbuster then it should be quite easy to bypass. Upon getting your email I started doing some background research as to how hackshield actually works but without a game that it runs directly with I'm not completely sure how it would work during gameplay. With punkbuster it actively scans all new users as well as scans all active users every 30-45 seconds depending on how the server is set up. One of the biggest exploits I found with punkbuster is that it doesn't scan for certain things. The games associated with punkbuster are largely open_gl based games so it directly scans those files. Create a hack that isn't based in open_gl, say scripts skins and root files, then you don't have to worry about it being picked up.

getting around it as best possible

I know this is a long shot but if you happen to be on a 64 bit os then hackshield won't register on the machine. Then you can change the opening command of it slightly, this is where some scripting history comes into it, to still register as working but since it's a 64 bit os it won't scan properly thus always send back a response of the all clear. The type of scripting you'd need would probably, not completely sure I've just tinkered with the base files, be some kind of file relation mechanism.

Here is where your personal scripting would come into play. You'd have to type up something to trick the program. This should be easy enough...simply take the base file and make a copy of it. Now modify the copy keeping the base file in another folder. This will be your gateway to it all, trial and error, read through the program code a few times...print it out, highlight through it...etc.

As for Breakpoints, they're simply parts of code that tell the debugger to stop the program when it reaches a certain point. It is possible to bypass it using breakpoints, but it would work much better if you use the #if command, something like

This should allow you to skip certain parts of the program itself rather than just stopping because if there is no response from the user side of it then there's a problem and you're caught. This way you can at least send something in game and not have a problem with the uptake.

lol i have been to the website, its pretty funny for a antihacking site, looks more like a ISP website or something, the game is called kalonline ( www.kalonline.com ) and hackshield is integrated with the game and the server, there are 2 international servers that you can connect to. im not sure if u read around on the site but it says that hackshield only works where every client connects to the same server, so it can check up on itself im assuming.
all the info you provided is VERY helpful and im extremely thankful. im not very familiar with scripting,packet editing, programming and that type of thing, but i will research what you have told me. the main thing we would like to do in this game is be able to kill the monsters in 1 hit , i asked some of the people that used the 1 hit hack before hackshield and some told me it was editing the .dat files which i uploaded a while ago (here is a link if you want to check them out, these are now in (Edited Out This was a link to files of his) and its passworded since hackshield (Edited Out This was a link to files of his)
and some said it was .dll files that edited the packets. im running windows xp pro 32 bit, i would only need 64bit if i was going to do what u said about chaning the way it loads?

Yea, if you had a 64 bit processor and the opperating system modification to go with it for that to work. Then you'd just have to script the beginning again, or at least thats the way it looks in the programming but I don't see it staying like that for very long, I figure the next update that comes out will take care of that.

From the sound of this anticheat it works very oddly compared to punkbuster. I don't know if this is useful but....http://downloads

.hackingsource.net/index.php?act=view&id=112.... that is a good site that is ran by a friend of mine and there's a premade speed hack...for some reason my computer won't open the files within it, I think because it's a visual basic based/created program...I hate that, anyway I pissed around with it and a personally hacked version of KAL. The fact that this game was created in Korea helped in my personal hacking of it as the coding style taught there is very easy to decode and work with.

As I look through random other hacks associated with this game most of them are with selling something. There are a suprising number of people who hack at the game, I used a code viewer, a program that allows you to see what code has been sent by other NPCs as well as other players in the game, and I realized a lot of discrepancies in their code. The code viewer can also be seen as a cheat as you can see what buttons the opponent are pushing and respond to them and yatta yatta yatta.....

Anyway, I'm still checking up on it all, just wanted to give you an update...

i have a modified cheat engine , which i think i can inject dll's into the game. i can change the cooldown on items and attacks to 0 , and i can give my weapons infinite range and speedhack as fast as i want with the memory editor. i talked to the guy who made the 1 hit hack and item creation and he said that he stumbled upon GM functions when he was going thru packets, with gm function you can create any item like custom weapons that are strong enough to kill the monsters in 1 hit. he said he disabled hackshield by "kernal threshold" or something, i cant recall that well because i forgot to save the conversation, he said he has a hack program that he can create geons (ingame money) and other items. the game uses a storage system where you can put your items in, they also have the option to pay for things with cash , like onetime use items, a friend said that you can create items that way. i have a amd x2 4400 processor and i have the dual core processor driver, i have 32 bit windows tho , would your method still work for me? thanks for all the help. we have many people and friends working on this lol. what time zone are you in? im in southern california (pacific time)

I'm in West Virginia Eastern Standard Time...As for changing your windows, if it is windows XP, there is an update you can download that will allow you to use your processor in it's 64 bit state. Once this is done you could probably easy hack the game. As for the kernel threshold I don't see how that could play into it at all, I'm not saying it doesn't I'm just saying I don't know how it would. I'm suprised the memory hacking isn't picked up by the anticheat program, since that's the case you should be able to search for the variable strand that is your attack power, this should be easy as it changes depending on which weapon you modify...Attach a stronger weapon and the variable goes up, attach a weaker one and it goes down. Simply figure it out and change it to whatever the cap on dammage is then lock the variable so no matter what weapon you use will work. You can do this with speed and defense as well. This would be the easiest way to do it.

i narrowed it down to 770 addresses, and found 3 significant ones. they didnt change anything , except after a about a minute of changing the values the game crashed

if the game crashed then it wasn't the right variable. There should be 2 variables that are the same thing yet in different locations. One of these is the attack. If you know your actual attack power you could try to type it in and search those specifically as you change them. This should allow you to narrow it a lot faster. The reason there'll be 2 variables is that one will be the attack that is displayed to you and the other variable is the attack's actual power. If there's a way to scan people's power on the game this could come in handy. Set the display really low and the actual attack really high. Take em by suprise.

lol yea, i think that attack damages are server side and that it randomly chooses how much damage you do , but i will try this again. i would think that this would have already been done if it is possible, health points and mana points are all server side, you can change them client side but it doesnt have any effect

well there's the base attack plausible which should be userside...thats the number from which the server determines how much damage to do...and there's the final which is server side...which is how much damage is delt

i found the attack point and changed the minimum attack and max attack. there was only 1 address which is the one shown on my screen , correct?

There should be, I'm not completely sure as I'm not doing this along with ya, just thinking it through when I've done it before. For safety reasons I'd set the minimum about 10-15 points lower than the maximum...you can still set both amazingly high, just have a little buffer there.

yea it didnt change anything, do you think it would be possible to send hitpackets over and over? they are timestamped tho, is that hard to get around? oh also. have u installed the game or looked around in the files i sent u?

I downloaded it off the website and (plead the 5th). I didn't look through the files you sent but rather tried to work without an outside influence.

As for getting around the timestamp you probably wouldn't have to, you could probably just spam with hitpackets and not worry about it.

as far as i know dll hooks and packet editing is the way to go with this game, at least thats what ive been hearing. i think ive done nearly all i can do with this mem editor so far, except to give myself infinite buffs

oh also, could you tell me how to disable punkbuster or bypass it? is it an exe?

disabling punkbuster is easy, I simply made a hack that isn't open_gl based as thats what punkbuster works with. It does check cvars in game but I basically made a independant packet that works seperately from it all.

I think I've helped all I can with the hacking of this...I wish you luck with your hacking/cracking exploits. If I come up with anything else I'll be sure to let you know.

disabling hackshield isn't an option. Upon disabling hackshield it would kick you for non-respondance or something similar to that. As for the (protecting the user and pleading the 5th again)

Ok, this is basically it. The rest of the conversation is the kinda trouble you can get into if you do the wrong thing the wrong way. I just wanted him to be clear on the consequences of his actions. Remember, never break the law. If you're simply testing game security in an effort to increase your knowledge thats fine, but don't try to make money off anything or something like that.

Hackshield, I came to the conclusion that you suck allowing simple value adjustment bypass your security.

Punkbuster, you suck just as much cause...well...your security sucks, my 1 gig jump drive has more security on it than your system.

Firewalls Hard and Soft

Recently a friend of mine asked me about ports on a firewall and which were the best to close off. So I'm taking this opportunity to go into detail about firewalls, don't know if I have before but there are 2 types of firewalls, Hardware and software.

Software is the most common, it's simply a program that runs in the background that controls your ports as well as bandwidth flow usually. There are a slew of software firewalls out there but I'll list a couple of my favorites.
The Kerio personal firewall is my favorite. It's free (or advanced version is purchaseable), customizeable, everthing...I love it.
Zone Alarm comes in a close second as this thing has been around forever. It's easy to use and very effective.

I'd say those are the ones you want to go for, some antivirus programs have built in firewalls such as Norton/Symantec and Panda which are decent enough anti-virus programs.

As for hardware firewalls this most often connotates a router or something of that nature. If you're looking for a good router I'd go with a name brand, like Linksys or Netgear simply because those that aren't so computer savy have a good tech support and these are easy to work with. If you'd like to look around for a different router I'll give you a list and some links:

That should be enough to browse through.

Anyway, the question at hand, which ports to close once you have this wonderful technology. Because there's so many ports it's next to impossible to list them all out, but some people have actually tried to list them out. This one is ok, a long ways behind though, it was last updated in 2001.....

The best advice I can give is to close all your ports and have your firewall ask you if you want to allow traffic through each time a new source appears. This seems the best, it blocks off all the random crap you don't want to deal with and allows you to save responses to choices. If you want one thing to get through but not another, you can set it up that way, and it's easy. With Zone alarm it's a matter of clicking one single button.

If you really want to be secure you can set yourself up for "port knocking." I know it sounds funny but port knocking is a communication where data comes encoded in the form of connection attempts to closed ports, in which the port sequence forms the encoding, and acts as an event trigger on the receiver's end. The only problem with this is that the receiver does not return a message to the sender during this in order to make it seem accidental or mean spirited.

Thats the best I can tell ya, I don't know a lot about port knocking or I woulda posted more, it should be easy to find though. For further reading about trojans, tcp/ip, and ports I suggest reading this. It's a decent read not fast by any means but I don't have much of a life so I read it pretty quickly.

Audio Editing Goodness

Ok, thanks to a recent question I'm doing this post about editing audio.

First off we're going to start with conversion. There are many, many, many programs out there that can be used for audio conversion. The best few that I've come across are as follows:

Switch presented by NCH. This converts almost all medians of audio format....almost, a good program, runs smoothly, but lacks some abilities.

Blaze Media Pro is another decent program at editing but it's a little crappy if you're trying to go professional.

For those of you who want to convert to mpeg-4 audio...troublemaker (thanks for the post)... simply get Quicktime 7 Pro. This won't let you convert wma to mp4, but it will let you convert an mp3 to an mp4. As far as I know there is no program that'll convert strait from wma to mp4, but you can easily make 2 conversions. Wma --> Mp3 --> Mp4

If you want Audio creation software I would go with the one that suits you. Here's a slew of them to pick from, but there's still more.

A great audio recorder/editor is Audacity...good opensource, free....wonderful. If you're wanting to just get some loops or techno editiong going. I'd go with Sonar or Fruity Loops. They're both pretty good, it's just Sonar is a lot more expensive, unless you go with the XXL package of Fruity Loops.

Well the end of my semester is drawing near so don't expect a whole lot out of me post wise for another month, after that I get summer break and thats when it'll get good again, I'll be posting all kinds of new shit. I just formatted my friend's computer and I'm about to install XP on it again. Not a whole lot tech wise going on. Hackermedia is slow so there's not too much great stuff this week, but it'll get better again.

As you can tell I updated this thing so now I have a mini google earth on here, you should post where you're from and such on there, leave me a good message.

The best thing I can think of to post on here is how to Bridge Halo 2.

You need your pc, your xbox, and your modem along with some software. First connect your xbox to your pc, then your pc to the internet.

Next you need Zone Alarm and Commview. and stolen from a nice little guide "Go into a party where they(whoever you want to have host)is the only person and get their IP address. Enter it into Zonealarm's trusted section along with Xbox Live's IP address. Then turn the security settings to high and your trusted zone to medium. This will force host to the trusted IP address(the trusted IP address can be your own)." You get their IP address from Commview.

Start up your Xbox then unplug your ethernet cable to get to the troubleshooter. Copy down your DNS server codes. Go to My Computer - View Network Connections -then Highlight both Connections with the shift key(hold shift and click on both items). Right click and select bridge connections. There ya go...

Gettin back in the swing of things

Ok, well, I've been working on my most recent post and I was trying to figure out what to post about. I guess I should post about something I hate but I know a lot of people wouldn't go without...The Apple Ipod.

We all know the normal shit that goes with it...shitty menu, music downloading program you're forced to use...it's bullshit. Well, I'm trying to make things a little better for us.

First off we go with the general menu...it sucks, it's based off a shitty tiered system, and it's outdated. The Ipod Linux Installer is the first step to making your ipod pimp. Just installing this gives you a vast array of stuff you can play with, games, programs, etc.

Also with the Ipod Linux is gtkpod, which is a GUI for your ipod. This is made for a Linux opperating system so I'm not completely sure if they have a windows version.

If you don't want to go with the standard or linux you can simply turn your ipod into a database. This way your ipod works much like a thumbdrive using the simplest of settings for your music selection.

If you're just looking for some good programs to spice up your ipod we have a few for ya. The INES is a good one. It's an NES emulator for your ipod so you can play your favorite nes games while you're out.
If you're a drinking, like me, then the iPod bartender is for you. This program has an amazing database of mixed drinks and how to make them.
Also, being a college student, I know the value of an encyclopedia, so for you college students with ipods the Encyclopodia. It's Wikipedia for your ipod.

I'm Not Dead

Damn, it's been one helluva year so far. A lot of shit's been going down, sorry for the nonresponsiveness of postings. Well I'm formatting and reinstalling a computer for a friend right now and in this post I'm giving the low down of the programs put on it.

To start us off we have to format it though which I used a program called DBAN, I've talked about this before so look for it.

Next we go to the OS, I tried a few different ones but settled back with Windows XP simply because of program compatibility. A few that I did try were ReactOS, which was possibly the most decent tiny os I've seen in a long time, DSLinux, not the linx os for the Nintendo DS but rather damn small linux, and some random other one a friend told me to try but I didn't like it...poor compatibility.

Anyway, we move on to some of the basic programs. First Norton for an antivirus. Then some cd burning software so I used both Nero and Alcohol 120%. Both good programs and both have their own uses. Next I'm going for some internet associated software. First a browser with the newest Firefox. Netlimiter for the periods in which personal bandwidth must be limited. Finally some random downloading software.

Besides that we're gonna hack the start button and other as well as a few other things and voila, pc is done.
