I am getting quite used to this chair and rolling around the house. Although I must say that I am tired of sitting on my bum! I walk when I can with one crutch …sometimes with both depending where I have to go…but it does hurt like the dickens. Dr. Ruben said to put as much weight on it as I feel comforable with and that is what I am trying to do. I did refuse prescription pain meds as I am not keen on them. But he said should I need any stronger pain meds he will have a prescription ready in my file and to just call the office during the day or the call center services at night and let them know and they will have it ready for Scottie to pick up.

My follow up is tomorrow and I am praying that everything is going to be ok and that I won’t need surgery. There is just no way in hell I can afford surgery. This bill here for just the cast, more xrays, follow ups and mini rehab could cost $1100! I still don’t have a total as the billing manager never called me. I guess I will find out tomorrow. I think they are waiting to see if I need surgery or not. Whoop-di-doo!

Tomorrow’s trip to the Orthopedic Center should be interesting. It’s supposed to rain like hell with thunderstorms and lightning. Bad enough I have to literally crawl into the truck. It’s so high up that I have to place both knees on the step rail and then hoist myself up on my good foot and swing around to hop into the seat…never mind doing all that in the rain with a cast that is not waterproof!

Ah well, when it rains it pours. You ever notice that just when you think that life finally seems normal and things look up just a little – you get knocked down again? I am really trying to stay positive here but I could just scream sometimes. I just keep asking myself….what’s next?

Just called the Orthpedic Center and confirmed my follow up for the in cast xray Dr. Ruben wants to do. Once he looks at that I will know if I need surgery. It all depends on whether or not the bone has shifte/moved. He was pretty confident that it wouldn’t move but wants to make sure because with spiral fractures the fracture can progress up or down the bone and a pin is needed to stop it from doing that. LOVELY, huh?
I’m managing ok, I guess. I am in an old office chair on wheels so at least I don’t have to use these blasted crutches. As much as I hate our laminate flooring – I am now glad we have it in the living room, kitchen and hallway because it’s easier to roll on. The bedrooms are killer since they have carpeting but I’m managing. I borrowed MIL’s toilet stool and shower stool and they both help…a lot! She had them from her knee surgery in 2005 and was more than happy to let me use them. Scottie scrubbed them clean for me – they had been cleaned but sat in her basement for a few years. LOL
Scottie has been a doll since this happened. He cooked and cleaned a bit this weekend and helped me get a few things down off shelves and even helped with wrapping the soap logs from the wholesale order I had just finished up before the accident. I am so glad I finished that order up when I did. Can you imagine me trying to make soap in a chair?
I can still pour candles, too. I tried it Saturday and as long as I take my time I can do it. Kinda hard in a chair but it’s do-able! Now I can at least keep testing my new candles. With any luck I’ll still reopen on August 1st. If I don’t need surgery that is!
They say all things come in 3’s…I am just waiting for the 3rd! Not looking forward to it.
Scottie needs to replace his brake pads, too but he can do it himself so that saves us some moola. I’m so lucky to have a guy who can do all these things himself.

Well, I’m gonna roll on outta here to try and do some laundry.

Yesterday was officially my day from hell!
Why you ask? I tell you why…because I’m a dumb ass and broke my ankle in 2 places, that’s why!
Yesterday morning early…like about 6:15 am I decided it would be a good time to clean out the fridge. I did just that and ended up with a bag full of jars and condiments and thought hey, I better get this bag out into the can before they come and pick up the trash. I figured I could just slip on my flip flops and zip out right quick. BIG MISTAKE!
We have this slope in our front yard…so instead of going down the steps to get to the drive way where our trash can is like a normal person would do…I decided to take a short cut down the slope….next thing I know I am up in the air then landing hard on my ass with my right leg/ankle on my side and I hear a snap, crackle and pop. After the BLINDING pain receded a little I rolled over onto my tummy and tried to get up …tried to put weight on the foot but it just kinda dangled there…I knew right away I was screwed. Crawled back into the house on all 4’s, my ass showing mind you and me screaming in pain …and called Scottie who raced home in 20 mins and then took me to the walk in clinic. They xrayed said it was broken in two places and send me over to the orthopedic center where I was told I have a spiral fracture on the right side and a chip fracture on the left side of my ankle. Then I received my cast. I was able to pick out my own color and let me tell you it was the highlight of my day! LOL
I chose hot pink!
I so DO NOT need this right now…in the middle of testing my new candles. I have Baby FatCat’s surgery coming up on the 24th which is costing me $600! This trip to the orthopedic center could cost $1100. I don’t know how I am going to pay this.
I have to go back next week for an in cast x ray so Dr. Ruben can make sure that no bones have moved. I am now waiting for the billing specialist to call me today so I know my exact amount and can set up a payment plan of some sort.

I have to put my candle testing on hold as well.

I DO NOT NEED THIS RIGHT NOW!

But hey, I have a hot pink cast! I’m stylin’ big time! ROFL

What a day I had today!

I had to go in and set up the appointment for Baby FatCat’s dental surgery, make my down payment and sign some paperwork. UGH
I really hated signing that piece of paper that states we won’t hold them liable in case anything happens. If anything happens you can bet your butt I’ll do something! The bitch in me came out on that one. I was already pissy over a certain comment someone made on twitter so when she handed me that paper to sign I was ready to roar! LOL

The surgery will take place on the 24th of this month and we have to drop Baby FatCat off between 8 and 9 am that day. No food or water after 10 pm the night before. He’ll also be on antibiotics for a week prior to surgery and 2-3 weeks following the surgery. MY POOR BABY! I am already a nervous, frantic wreck. Mainly because I know the pain – having had all of my uppers pulled just last year. I am worried about that a lot. I do trust my vet completely and I know Baby FatCat is in good hands. He may have to spend the night – it all depends on how well he does. If he is alert and his behavior is normal he can come home that same day. I hope so because I know I will just freak out if he has to spend the night. I called them every hour on the hour when we had him neutered. That’s how anal I am about my fuzzbutts. And yes, I will call every hour on the hour again come July 24th! Tomorrow I have to call up and talk to the vet himself. He was out today and he still has to sign off on the antibiotics.

I was in the waiting room – while they looked up Baby FatCat’s file – and grabbed a magazine. I leafed through the pages and stopped at one that had a huge ad for ma huang and I was like what is that? course I had to read it. Ephedra in Chinese, I guess. Whodda thunk? I read some of the info but as you know with my recent “spell” I am staying away from any diet supplements for a while. Not going to risk it – in case the alli did cause my blood pressure to drop the way it did.

I did watch Michael Jackson’ Memorial Service today and I must say it was great. It honored him as the man, father, legend and icon he was/is. I truly enjoyed Al Sharpton, Brooke Shields and I totally broke down when MJ’s little daughter Paris spoke at the very end. It was good to learn about the more private sid of MJ and his family. We just hear and see what the media lets us most of the time so this was refreshing. MJ was a huge part of my growing up and he will be missed by many…including me. The Memorial Service was very well deserved!

We had wicked thunderstorm overnight which kept me up so early this morning I went through my box of pictures and read my old diaries. It was quite the adventure. LOL

It also makes me want to go home even more. Scottie and I have been talking about moving to Germany. He's all for it which is great. I am all for it myself but I know it won't happen from one day to the next. Lots of planning to do before that would ever happen.

We'd have to get his paperwork in order, applications filled out and mailed off, put house up for sale, get insurance stuff taken care of…etc. That alone would take some time. Then we have the pets which would of course go with us. Have to get them to the vet, paperwork filed, applications filled out and mailed off…and so on. It's not something you jump into without planning well ahead.

Plus I would like to lose some pounds before I go back. I've gained quite a bit of weight and it would shock some people back home. LOL

Of course I could suck down all the fat burner pills on the planet and do it that way but considering my recent episode I think doing it the hard way is my best option. I don't want to get sick(er) in the process, know what I mean?

But let's just say that the willingness is there. From both of us. We both agree that moving to Germany would be great. Scottie was stationed in Germany before I met him and he loved it there. Ok, so he wasn't stationed anywhere near the city I am from. Ansbach where he was stationed, is literally a different world compared to Bremerhaven, but I think he'd love Bremerhaven just the same.

Our whole lives would be so much better in so many ways.

Of course we have his family to consider but to be honest the only one that really matters to us is his mom. He, or we, are not in any way close to his siblings. Not to the point where it would keep us from moving. His mom is another story. She may be a pain in the butt, but we both love her dearly. Her health is not the best however. We mentioned our "plans" and she immediately laid a guilt trip on us. So we know that moving while she is alive would probably not be a good idea. We didn't say that it was a definite decision either, we just mentioned that we had been talking about it. I kind of knew she'd do the guilt trip thing. I was prepared for it.

I have been here for 16 years now and I am ready to go home. My dream of living in the US has become a nightmare. Not that I don't love it here – but there are things I need to change in my life. I will always love the US and will come back for visits and vacations once I do go back home. But I don't want to live here anymore. I need my family close by. I miss them so much. I don't feel at home here. My heart is in Germany.

This is my Baby FatCat. I get asked how he got the name a lot. Simple…our "old" FatCat passed away and Scottie brought this little munchkin home the very next day. We were so used to calling FatCat that the name stuck…we just added Baby to it because well…he was a baby at the time.

I had a very very hard time with "old" FatCat's death because he died in my arms and watching him die literally tore my heart apart. When Scottie brought Baby FatCat home I could not warm up to him. He wasn't "old" FatCat after all. Baby FatCat took to me however and just kept on wigglin' his way into my heart like he knew I needed a new buddy. He'd follow me everywhere, slept on my pillow, sat by my side purring when I cried…like he really knew. So after a while he just became my new buddy and we have been inseparable ever since.

Oddly enough he never grew into his name. He was the runt of the litter and is quite small. But his heart is as big as "old" FatCat's was and I just adore this little fuzzbutt.

I'm very nervous about his upcoming dental surgery. If anything happens to him I will just die. But I have to do this because I don't want him to be in pain. I can't bear the thought of him being in pain.

Say a prayer for him, will you?

I was just cleaning out my dresser drawers and saw my jewelry boxes all messed up so I went to sort through them to organize them…again! I came across my 24 karat gold Tennis Bracelet which also has certified diamonds and that I just love to bits and only wear for speacial occasions. Well I went to strap it around my wrist and saw that it had a link loose. GRRRR.

Now I'll have to take it to a jeweler to have fixed. Another expense I didn't need! But I will have it done. This means a lot to me.

It's in XOXO form representing "hugs and kisses" and so very cute! That is one piece of jewelry I did NOT have to pick out myself. So it's extra special! LOL

I'm not even going to tell Scottie because he'll be upset. I know he paid a pretty penny for this one so it's best I just have it fixed on the down low and not even bother him with it.
