<p>Seriously, who would have thought that a small tech company could so quickly rise that it&#8217;s now on target to break the One Million mark quicker than FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest  or Instagram.</p>
<p>In fact, if they hit One Million users in less than 2 1/2 months, they will break the current record held by Instagram (RYI&#8230;took FB 10 months).  Day 60 for Rippln is on June 15, and as I write this blog post on June 7, they are sitting at close to 800,000.</p>
<div><strong>Did I mention Rippln has not officially launched?</strong> Yes, this is pre-launch and yet they will nail the record before they officially open their doors. Pretty impressive.<strong>But where&#8217;s the &#8220;beef&#8221; and why are so many excited?  Let&#8217;s list the potential benefits:</strong></div>

<div>LinkedIN offers an upgrade to $99 per month.  Facebook&#8217;s advertising pays for what they do and they now have a third party integration that enables you to buy gifts for others right from the comfort of your computer&#8230;inside FB of course!  Now, what if FB shared some of those profits?  Dream on.</div>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong><a href="http://www.dottiberry.com/pinterest" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>?</strong>  Think of pinning your interests and you will pronounce it correctly!  If you haven&#8217;t yet heard of this new social media blockbuster, you have now.  Pinterest has pierced the ranks of the social-networking elite. Facebook, You Tube, Twitter and LinkedIn were the &#8220;big four.&#8221;  Well, now there are five, and don&#8217;t be surprised if Pinterest comes out #1!  As unique as each of you are, you might just find that you have something &#8220;pinteresting&#8221; to share!<strong><br />

<p>&#8220;The site, which allows users to pin images of products they like on online scrapbooks, has seen its traffic grow almost sevenfold in five months and is ranked by one research firm as the No. 3 social network behind Facebook and Twitter, says the<strong> <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/254312710178232543/" target="_blank">LA Times</a>.</strong></p>

<strong><a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/254312710178305666/" target="_blank">An article in Tech Crunch</a></strong> begins by saying, &#8220;It’s beautiful, it’s addictive, and now Pinterest is having its glorious hockey stick moment. TechCrunch has attained exclusive data from comScore showing Pinterest just hit <strong>11.7 million unique monthly U.S. visitors, crossing the 10 million mark faster than any other standalone site in history.&#8221;</strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/254312710178307343/" target="_blank">Business Insider</a> reports that &#8220;Pinterest engages users twice as much as Twitter did at its age.&#8221;</strong> They go on to say that, relative to Pintersest revealing any internal data, &#8220;<a href="http://info.rjmetrics.com/blog/bid/52877/Pinterest-Data-Analysis-An-Inside-Look">RJMetrics</a>, a business intelligence software company, got tired of waiting. It wrote a script and <a href="http://info.rjmetrics.com/blog/bid/52877/Pinterest-Data-Analysis-An-Inside-Look">analyzed random Pinterest user data</a>.  All in, about 1 million pins were examined.&#8221;</p>
<p>Although 58% who use Pinterest are women, that doesn&#8217;t mean that Pinterest is only for women.  The 24-44 age group, the most sought-after by marketers, is the largest group utilizing Pinterest.  What does that mean?  If you are a business, you better have a presence there, and by and large, most businesses are still run by/owned by men.</p>
<p>Data from all of the above articles have huge implications for affiliate marketers and merchants, in more ways than just understanding the power of the growth, combined with the demographic group. Two articles tell the bigger story.  One by <strong><a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/254312710178311043/" target="_blank">GTO Managed Affiliate Programs</a> </strong>and the other by <strong><a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/254312710178311065/" target="_blank">Venture Beat</a></strong> offers insights for entrepreneurs that should not be ignored.</p>
<p><strong>What potential does Pinterest have in terms of marketing? <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/254312710178311359/" target="_blank">According to Shareaholic</a>,</strong> Pinterest is driving more referral traffic to company websites and blogs than YouTube, Google+, and LinkedIn – combined. Shareaholic’s January 2012 Referral Traffic Report ranks Pinterest as statistically equal with Twitter and Google in driving referrals, behind only Facebook and StumbleUpon.</p>

<p>To me, it stands for <strong>Be Your Own Boss. </strong>Having been a visionary entrepreneur for over 30 years, I am commited to <strong>BYOB&#8230;<em>forever.</em> </strong> I will be the first to admit that I have worked hard all my life.  At the young age of 58, I look back and recognize that it&#8217;s simply what my Mom and Dad taught me. I feel grateful for their inspiration. I have verbalized over the past few years, however, a commitment to &#8220;work smarter, not harder.&#8221; The truth is you  have to be smart enough to recognize when that opportunity has arrived.  I am happy to report that I am that smart as I head into 2012.</p>

<p>I just recently did a blog post on qr codes and bit.ly, the url shortner that is so popular. <strong><a href="http://dottiberry.com/bit-ly-jumps-into-the-qr-code-frenzy">Check it out and see how bit.ly automatically creates qr codes</a>. </strong> That will explain more about them; however, consider the following&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>It is really cool, and can work great when sharing links for your non-profit.  The reason bit.ly is a great option is that it ties into your existing metrics&#8230;giving you an integrated, real-time view of clicks.</strong></p>
<p>With  the bit.ly url shortening service, you can add a  .qr to the end of a  bit.ly url you have created and it will go to the qr  code. (Here&#8217;s the qr code for this post http://bit.ly/NonProfitQRcodes.qr)</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s another example.<strong><a href="http://bit.ly/ShowMeTheNote.qr"> Click here </a></strong>and the picture below with the qr code to scan is what you will see! Scan it&#8230;it&#8217;s a great cause!</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s an interesting marketing &#8220;tidbit!&#8221; If you haven&#8217;t heard of url  shorteners, bit.ly is one of the most widely used.</p>
<p>Following is the actual  bit.ly short url for my previous blog post =&gt;&gt;&gt;  http://bit.ly/QRCodesMediaDarling. I created a custom bit.ly.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Here&#8217;s  what is so interesting.
