A very special thank you to Broadway Dance Center, The Pulse and all the teachers/students who came to take classes with me in NYC.

The weekend started out with two classes at Broadway Dance Center. This was my first time teaching there and it could not have been a better experience. The layout of the facility was really nice and the staff was extremely helpful. In my second class, I had a large group of girls from Brazil who just got to NY that day! Even though there were small language gaps, the universal languages of music and tap took over for a great class. If you’ve never been to BDC, I encourage you to take class there. Especially if I’m teaching!

On Monday, I judged the scholarship showcase for The Pulse. We saw dancers from all over the world. Australia and Denmark were well represented! This showcase offered a wide range of styles and by the time it was done, I was actually inspired to choreograph a few contemporary pieces! (That thought subsided with my nightly chocolate chip cannoli and milk… or did it?)

For the second straight year, my classes at The Teacher Workshop for The Pulse were very successful. This is also another experience that I encourage any teachers to take part in. There were so many classes to take and so many amazing teachers. The available information seemed almost overwhelming! I only taught two classes, but I did everything I could to cram in as much info and knowledge I had to share. The response seemed very positive and I was pleased with all the teachers who got on the floor to tap with me!

I’d like to sum up my trip with my favorite comment of the weekend:

A teacher pulled me aside after my first class on Tuesday and said “You are really real. You get it. You understand what it means to teach and how to relate to what goes on in the studio. Thank you.” A very sweet compliment if I do say so myself!

Hey everyone! I will be teaching in New York this summer and I have been asked to post the details.

Saturday, July 25th, I will be teaching at Broadway Dance Center! I have TWO classes. Here’s the schedule…

The first class is Advanced-Beginning Tap, from 11:30am – 1pm
(This is like a high beginning/low intermediate class.)

The second class is Intermediate-Advanced Tap, from 1:00pm – 2:30pm
(This is like a high-intermediate/low advanced class.)

I will also be teaching at The Teacher Workshop for The Pulse on Tuesday, July 28th.
