I narrowly lost the Primary on September 9, and so I'm no longer a candidate.

Though I lost this race, there will be others, and for now I’m grateful to know that when the time comes, I’ll have the support of people like you.

Letter to the Concord Monitor

On Thursday, the Concord Monitor ran an editorial entitled "Survey says...well what exactly does it say?", focusing on how political polling is easily manipulated and can be a detriment to our political process.

I wrote a Letter to the Editor in response, which ran today. Some excerpts:

The incredible over-saturation of polling, most of which has questionable accuracy and implication, does a grave disservice to the American people.
...
When polling can be made to say anything, our leaders are afraid to do anything bold, and we lose the ability to bring about change.
...
Leadership isn't about bending to perceived public will or trying to manipulate people into agreeing; a true leader inspires people to follow him/her. That is precisely what has been missing from the political process.

Let's face it: city wards are not something everybody pays attention to. I'm running in Manchester's Ward 1, but you may not know which ward you live in. This map will help you figure it out:

Click here to go to the City of Manchester's official website; that service will tell you which Ward you live in, where to vote, who your Alderman is, etc. For the record, Ward 1's polling place (which has recently changed) is The Derryfield School, 2108 River Rd. (near the intersection of Union St. and River Rd.)

603 Forward Press Event

This morning, the New Hampshire Young Democrats held a press conference in Concord announcing the 603 Forward campaign, the purpose of which is to elect members of the NHYD Young Candidates Caucus (NHYCC). As Chair of the NHYCC, I spoke briefly on the importance of young people being represented:

"...I’m running for the same reasons so many of my fellow young candidates are: New Hampshire is our past and our future; it’s where we’re from, it’s where we’ll stay. We will pay the bills, we will face the consequences...."

New Hampshire Young Democratic Candidates Caucus

At Monday's meeting of the Board of the New Hampshire Young Democrats, I was unanimously appointed to be the Chair of the New Hampshire Young Democratic Candidates Caucus (NHYCC). As NHYCC Chair and a member of the NHYD Board, I will be working on NHYD's collaborative 603 Forward campaign to elect Young Democrats this fall. Blue Hampshire's Dean Barker Gives a Shining Endorsement

Tonight, Dean Barker, the co-editor of Blue Hampshire, New Hampshire's foremost netroots community, posted a front page article entitled, What do Doug Lindner and Barack Obama Have in Common? As frequent readers of Blue Hampshire know, I am a frequent contributor in the diaries and comments; those in that community have gotten to know me and my sociopolitical outlook very well over the ten or so months that I've been posting there, which makes this all the more gratifying.

Furthermore, Dean has added me to ActBlue Hampshire, the site's ActBlue fund-raising page, which as of tonight features Senator Obama, Governor Shaheen, Congresswoman Shea-Porter, Congressman Hodes, the 2010 Senate nominee fund, and myself--that's it. Just to be placed in such company is quite a compliment. I encourage those fans of Blue Hampshire who are so generously inclined as to contribute to my campaign (thank you, by the way) to do so via ActBlue Hampshire, allowing everyone to properly appreciate the impact of that community both on my campaign and on New Hampshire politics.
