I've had this gnarly cold for a little over a week now so I've been absent. My apologies. I'll be heading to Brooklyn this weekend to visit with a few of my favorite people so I'm sure many lovely photos and memories will come out of that :D. I hope you're all well and that the weekend will be wonderful for you all, too. For now, here are some photos from an expired disposable camera I used mostly over last summer. I stepped outside of my comfort zone with this outfit. I haven't worn a high waisted skirt since I was 18 and thinner and I'm not totally a fan of maxi anything on me but I thrifted this lovely skirt a few weeks back and I finally decided to put it to the test. Success!

This year I'll be trying all different kinds of styles and pieces I wouldn't normally cling to. I'm hoping for lots of luck through my thrifting adventures. living's easy on a house boat

So, this job interview. I wanted to keep it simple, so I wore this plain dress with pretty detailing on top. I didn't wear the dino brooch to the actual interview but later on when I went out. It went well, I think. I'm expecting a call back within a week. The job in question is for a position on a cruise ship. I'd be a steward, so basically I'll be setting up for and serving meals, as well as cleaning cabins. Although my work days will be full, there's time in he middle of the day and at the end of the night to get off the ship and explore wherever we are docked. So, although it'll be a lot of work, I'm really looking forward to the adventure and traveling to places in the US I've never been before.

I definitely looked a lot better in the morning, though. I don't really think the reddish tights and purple sweater meshed well, now that I'm looking at the photos, but I'm sure the dude interviewing me wasn't really checking out the color of my tights. I'm kind of terrible at interviews. I freeze up and stutter out words that are supposed to be composed sentences but I somehow worked up enough confidence to do a pretty alright job. I'm hoping for the best.

This is what I wore to get coffee with a good friend. We haven't really been spending much time together so it was nice to catch up and learn all about the new exciting things going on in his life.

The weather has been weird lately. 60's one day, 30's the next but I think we're in the clear, for the most part, of any more large snow storms. I'm really looking forward to spring and new growth and change. I went on a job interview today that can open up a whole boat load of opportunities for me. Pun intended. I'll post all about it tomorrow, along with my outfit I wore to the interview.

It's been boring 'round these parts lately. Mostly I've been catching up on my 365 project and thrifting. The other day I found some lovely items, including this skirt, which I'm wearing as a dress. Everything else, except for the tights have been previously thrifted, as well. I'm excited for February to be here. On Valentine's day, I'll finally be getting a large portion of my leg tattoo done. Instead of spending time with some boy and wasting money on booze and chocolate, I'll be dropping $$ on some ink. Sounds pretty perfect to me.

My window garden makes the winter pass with a bit more ease.

Yeah, I'm definitely not a fan of winter. Thankfully February is only a few days away and March will be arriving quickly. For some reason, February always flies by for me. Which is an absolutely terrific thing :D. Anyway, today was my day off and I did what I do best: thrifted! Today I am featuring my most favorite little place ever. It's an old house ran by members of the church next door. I always find the loveliest things.

I also turned into a total creep. Without a tripod, with some bookshelves, I managed to get a few shots of my outfit. Nothing crazy today. Simple and comfy.

This is what I wore yesterday for about half the day before work time had to happen. I didn't do very much, just ran a couple errands and watched a bunch of weird spider shows on the History channel. I could have done without the spider shows, but it was like a train wreck, I couldn't look away. Also, it's been debilitatingly cold outside lately, so please excuse my unpleasant faces haha.

Film 365

I decided this year I am going to do a Film 365 project, where I watch 365 films in 2012. Pretty simple. A lot of folks are doing a photo a day project but I probably watch more movies a week than I photograph something a week, so this should be somewhat easy but also a challenge to discover more movies I haven't seen. Although, I am counting movies I've seen before. Here's the list so far.

Dear blog followers, I made the chop. It was kind of a spur of the moment decision but I decided a nice cut will make my hair and myself feel wondrous. And it has. MY hair hasn't felt this healthy in 3 years. More pictures to come in outfit posts and such but I just waned to share my exciting new hair style (long bob,I guess?) via instagram. 2011 was special. I started blogging again. I lost 42 pounds. My summer was overly fantastic. My mental state is the best it's been in about 4 years. I'm happy with myself and I'm looking forward to an even better me in 2012. Here's to another 40+ lb weight loss, my 365 films in 365 days project, more mental health strides and new opportunities in 2012. Also, my hematoma is finally starting to shrink. Thank you body. LONG STORY SHORT. Yes, long story short. My PC crashed. Again. About two weeks ago; hence no posting or commenting activity. So, I decided to take the MAC leap. It was a success. I'm in love with my new silver 13" boyfriend. That sounds dirty. You can handle it. However, the router was apparently shot. Got a new one, but same brand, still no workie, so after two days of stressful phone calls to comcast and wonderful, helpful calls to cute sounding boys at Apple, we've come to the conclusion that we need to kick all comcast routers to the curb and just buy a new one. So, for my sanity and blog's sake, I will hopefully have wifi sometime today or tomorrow. Until then, I'm connected to the wall and I've shared some recent instagram shots with you.

dark knight rises

Last night I went to The Dark Knight Rises - Prologue Movie Screening in Norwalk, CT and this is what I wore. See that big, sexy lump on my thigh? Yeah, that's my hematoma. It makes me feel confident and pretty. Sarcasm. There were more than two pictures but since I feel like a Lumpy Space Princess, I could only handle a couple.

However, this dark lipstick I've been sporting does make me feel pretty sassy. I was always scared of dark shades, but who'd of known it'd actually look good?

Today, my best friend/nephew Sean, my mother and I went to a local farm to cut down a Christmas Tree. It's actually really neat there; any size tree is $25 and that literally means the baby trees that are no more than 3 feet or the gigantic trees over 20 feet tall. Also, I say "best friend" because for the last few months now, my nephew's been calling me his best friend and it kills me (in the best way possible).

I wore jeans, a 1993 hot air balloon fiesta thrifted sweatshirt, sparkly Toms and silly socks. I never wear this sort of thing but I actually felt pretty cute. I could only get this one photo, which isn't very flattering, but it's okay. It's me and Sean; my best friend, so I love it, nonetheless.

Our tree is about 5.5 feet tall and fluffy and adorable. We wanted a small tree this year and it looks totally perfect in our living room. AND it's a twin. Hard to get into a tree stand, but somehow worth it.

Yesterday was weird. I slept maybe 2 hours total and woke up for the day around 5:30 am. Drove around awhile, visited Amber and eventually made time to take outfit photos. I napped, watched weird tv and wept over stupid commercials then returned to napping.

I have a new bed and a very long and weird story to explain my new bed. I'll try my best to keep this short. So, I HAD a loft bed until a couple days ago. If you don't know what a loft bed is, it's basically a bunk bed without the bottom bunk. Early Monday morning (Dec 5th) I was getting up to use the bathroom and while I was walking down the ladder (facing forward, like if I were walking down stairs), it slipped from underneath me, caught and cut up my ankle and flipped me face forward, landing on the ladder, on the ground, 5-6 ft below where I had been .5 seconds earlier.

So, that sucked and hurt and I cried and hyperventilated and all that good shit. I'm okay and there's nothing broken but I was left with gnarly bruises all over the place, a busted lip and a hematoma in my left thigh. If you don't know what a hematoma is, google it. I had to. Anyway, I think that's where all the nap time is coming from. I love my new bed and it loves me. and my hemtaoma.

Oh and my instagram is "doverpeak" for the blogger who inquired and for anyone else who'd like to follow me :) Hope you're all doing well and I plan to be more active and catch up come hibernation season.. which is starting right NOW.

I bet you forgot what I looked like. I've been running around like a crazy lady for over a month now and today, finally, I found some time to photograph my outfit. I've been doing the huge scarf, no coat thing lately, except when it gets below the 50's; then a coat becomes necessary. I found these great Nine West wedges and purple sweater while thrifting yesterday and I'm so proud that the sweater is actually a size smaller than I'd normally wear and I can actually walk in shoes more than 2 inches high. Woo!

So, how's everybody else doing? How did your weekends go?
