Good Product - Pathetic Customer Service May 9, 2005 Arul K. Manickam (Lawrenceville, NJ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After extensive research i went for this TV 8 months ago and i was very satisfied by its performance. It was way better than all the other competitors.
But it stopped worked last week and that is when i realized i made a BIG mistake. Panasonic customer service is PATHETIC. I had extended warranty from Best Buy and the servicer person came in, checked the TV and told me that the power unit is gone and it has to be ordered. I have repeated below the exact words from the service person "Except Panasonic, all the other companies like Samsung allow Best Buy to store parts/advance parts in advance but Panasonic is the ONLY company that doesnt allow to store parts and everything has to be ordered and it will take anywhere from 7 to 10 business days to come and then i have reschedule another appointment for the service person to come and change it.
So after spending almost 3 grand on the TV, now i am at the mercy of Panasonic to send the parts. I called Panasonic and their customer service was pathetic and for them a customer meant ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They really dont care and not ready to help.
The bottomline, Even though its a good TV, you will be in lots of trouble when it comes to repair. If you are willing to go through it.. then yes go for it and God Bless you.
Constant bulb problems December 27, 2005 Brenda Bansale We've had this TV for less than two years and we just blew out the second bulb on it! At a cost of approx. $300 each, you would think they could figure out how to keep this from happening. Now I'm on hold to order the second one and the projected wait time is 60 minutes! Althought it does have some really cool features like being able to play video games on one side while still being to watch tv on the other, I still wish we would have never purchased this tv.
OK product....HORRIBLE LAMP LIFE!!! July 8, 2007 J. Catalano The life of the lamp on this model is rated at 10,000 hours. We've owned this TV for ~3.5 years and have had to replace the lamp twice...at $285 each pop. WOW! I know what you're thinking...well, maybe they just watch a lot of TV. Not true. Even if we did watch for 6 hours per day, 365 days per year, a single lamp should still last about 4.5 years. We actually probably max out at about 2 hours per day roughly 4 days per week, which means we shouldn't have had to replace the first lamp until after ~24 years or so. Do yourself a favor...buy another product.
Aside from the unacceptable lamp life, HD quality output was very good. Analog output was not nearly as good as other HDTVs that I have seen.
Beware the hidden costs...replacing expensive bulbs frequently October 17, 2005 Jose Farmer (TX, USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
The TV is very nice but if you want one be prepared to replace the very expensive bulbs frequently. I believe the company has completely overstated the rated life of the bulbs. They claim an average of 10,000 hours, but from my own experience, and from what I've read on the net, the reality is more likely 1,000-2,000 hours. Do the math and you'll see that this set is a very poor choice overall.
I normally don't review products, but I thought that in this case if I could prevent one poor, unsuspecting buyer from making a bad choice, it would be worth the effort.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! March 8, 2005 T. Sritairat 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
DO NOT BUY THE PANASONIC PT-50LC13 TV OR ANY TV FROM PANASONIC!!! I purchased my PT-50LC13 in March of 2004 and it has worked a total of 9 months! It has broke 5 times in one year!! I have had 3 bulbs go bad and a projection unti (this unit costs more than the TV does if it is not under warranty). And now, it is broken again. This time it is something different, maybe a balast. This has been the WORST piece of electronic equipment I have ever purchased! And the customer service (if you can call it service) is horrible!!! Each time the bulb blew out I waited anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months to get a new one. And the projection unit took over a month to order. 4 full months this TV sat unsed due to repair.
Panasonic DOES NOT CARE ABOUT IT'S CUSTOMERS!!! When you call, you can complain all you want, and they don't even appologize!!! They make statements like "we don't care if you buy a TV from us" and "you got the 1 year warranty for free when you bought the TV" They make no effert to make you feel like even putting up with them.
My unit is just about out of warranty and when it goes out after that, it will be put out on my curb for trash pickup!!! Because that is exactly what it is, TRASH!
If you are considering a Panasonic TV, DON'T!!! You can save yourself a lot of anger, frustration, and money by just choosing another product and getting that extended warranty from Bestbuy or Circuit City. Let them deal with the problems because Panasonic does not care about the little guy.
