How do I Recover a Dead BlackBerry?
When your device fails to start, it show one of these symptoms:

1. Totally dead.

2. Trying to restart, LED activity only.

3. Failed to start, a white screen with an error message.

1. Physical damage, water is the worst enemy of delicate electronic device. Try drying it with a desiccant and replacing the battery. If there is no activity, you can still try the last ditch technique, nothing to loose anyway.

2. Your device is not able to start, something has gone wrong and the OS is corrupt.

3. Geeks call this an "Uncaught exception error". That is a polite way of saying, the last thread has terminated, the OS has halted because it is corrupt.

The good news, starting from scratch, you will be back in service in a couple of hours.

2. You need to install a BlackBerry OS file that is specific to your device. The original version, as supplied by the carrier, is the safe choice, but you can use any model specific version. This is not supplied on your BlackBerry CD, Ref: 3 links to BlackBerry's download pages.

There's a new UFO crash video making the rounds titled, "Dead Alien Found in UFO Hotspot in Russia," and it shows two Russian men finding what appears to be a dead extraterrestrial alien near a tree stump in a snowy field in Irkutsk, Siberia.

In the video, the alien looks to be about two or three feet tall, with a large head and long, thin limbs. It's gotten over 1 million hits so far, with many commenters asking if it could be the real thing. A message on the YouTube video, which was uploaded about a week ago, states that "Your government is lying to you about UFO & alien visitation."

It's clear that the filmmakers knew the alien was there, and didn't just "discover" it on cue. Furthermore, the actors, who speak in Russian, can be heard laughing, and their tones do not suggest that they just stumbled upon a genuine alien body.

Besides that, the scene doesn't even match up. The camera follows a snow trench leading to the alien (suggesting a spacecraft crash ), yet no space vessel is seen. Instead, it's just the alien, seemingly posed for dramatic effect — indeed, one of its legs appears to have been torn off in the crash — as if it had been flying under its own power when it suddenly dropped from the sky.

It's also suspicious that the alien just happens to look almost exactly like the popular depictions of "little green (or gray) men." These are the typical big-headed, small-limbed aliens that appear on T-shirts, movies, books, and elsewhere. The alien dummy's skin is translucent, which is a nice creepy effect seen in many Hollywood films, but could have easily been made using clear gelatin and animal parts from a butcher shop.

Speaking of ninjas, I was delighted by this story last week from a newspaper in Texas:

Sunland Park police are keeping an eye out for a “ninja” prowling around a neighborhood in the middle of the night.
At 3 a.m. Thursday, a woman and her husband were awakened by dogs barking in the Edgemont neighborhood, said the woman’s father, Alan Turnello. The couple saw a man in a black ninja costume in their front yard holding a sword. When the husband went outside to confront him, the ninja vanished.

The ninja “didn’t say anything,” Turnello said. “He ran off attempting to hide behind things that were too small for him to hide behind. He (Turnello’s son-in-law) doesn’t know if this guy is crazy or maybe he really thinks he is a ninja.”

Sunland Park city spokesman Arturo Alba said police responded to the call of a suspicious person but were unable to find the prowler.

And while I am not underestimating the scariness of someone waving a sword around in ones front garden, it is, in particular it is the sentence “He ran off attempting to hide behind things that were too small for him to hide behind” that I am in love with. Just for the mental images it conjures.

I think perhaps the terrible ninja and my biggest cat should play hide and seek. I think I would pay to watch that.

Throughout recorded history, every civilisation has played a game with a club and a ball. Pangea for example, as described by Roman scribes, would appear to be the father both of modern hockey and the Celtic games of Shinty and Hurling.

In one form or another, the variant games of present day golf were clearly enjoyed throughout Europe in the Middle Ages. The game persisted over the centuries and the form that it took and rules that were applied varied as widely as the terrain the game was played over. In short, the game consisted of knocking a ball from one pre-designated place to another where the ball was to be struck off a predetermined object in the least number of blows. Games often extended from village to village.

That this game was ousted from the towns and onto the commons land beyond is one possible solution to the question of how it all began. Whatever the exact origins, it is known that by the 15th century, "kolf" as it was known in the Netherlands and "goff" as it was referred to in England, was a pastime enjoyed by Kings and Commoners alike. It's kinship to the Great Game however, remains entirely questionable.

So widespread was the game of "Gowf", as it was known in Scotland, that an Act of Parliament was passed to prevent the playing of the game on Sundays and thus preserve the skills of Archery. The citizens of Aberdeen, St. Andrews and Leith on Scotland's East Coast were the principal "gowfing" miscreants and it was no coincidence that rolling sandy links land was commonplace here. On this very terrain, a game that started with a cleek and a ball took on a form that started an evolutionary process that continues to this day.

The question of how it all began may be of pressing concern to some but to the Scot, it is sufficient to know that the game was born on the links land of eastern Scotland. Here, the game has been nurtured for over five hundred years and from here, it has been raised to the great game played and loved by millions throughout the world.

A tool to create OTAs (.jad) and/or Desktop Installers (.alx) for apps of your choice.

Create-A-JAD Instructions

1. Enter information requested (All are required except for description)

2. Drag and drop all the files needed for your app install into the white box under Files.

3. If you haven't already, enter the filename (no extension) and choose what type of install you need: .JAD is for OTA, .ALX is for Desktop Install, and Both does both of them.

4. Click Create It!5. Enjoy your new OTA/Desktop Install!

Get Your OTA Up and Running

1) Upload all .cods required, the .jad, and the .htaccess file created to your webspace

2) Go to the link to your .jad file from your phone

3) Install away!

To Use In Desktop Install

1) Copy and paste the created .alx file in your OS's folder (ie. 9530-v4.7.0.167_P4.0.0.205)

2) Copy and paste the .cod files into the Java folder (if you checked that box when creating the .alx) or into the same OS folder as step 1 (if you left the checkbox unchecked)

3) Install using AppLoader (Loader.exe) or Desktop ManagerIm

Between summer classes (starting next week) and my job search in full gear, it's looking like video game business will remain in the backseat for a little while longer. I just got back from a trip to Las Vegas and need to recover a little bit.

Those action figures I mentioned earlier are done; I just need to get some decent photographs of them.

Other than that, I can't promise much. One endeavor that I'd really like to try is a tribute to the Build engine... the foundation of historic titles like "Wolfenstein," "Doom," and "Duke Nukem 3d." People these days complain about how the Unreal engines are overused. The Build engine was the original go-to for shooters of the 1990s. I want to download and play as many of the Build engine games as I can and do a big review.

Maemo Apps: TiEmu 2 (emulator for Ti89 and Voyage200)

Although there is a known application AlmostTI Graphing Calc Emulator, TiEmu2 application enables you to run the best TI calculator, the TI-89t - Voyage200.

The application does not exist in the known repositories so i made this guide how to install it.

I put all the files in a zip as I found there

Transfer the 6 files to N900 in MyDocs!

Open the X terminal:
sudo gainroot
cd MyDocs
dpkg-i libtifiles.deb
dpkg-i libticables.deb
dpkg-i libticalcs.deb
The sequence is important!

The installation can be done now by clicking the install file tiemu2_2.08-1_armel.deb at the file Manager!
(Or at the terminal giving dpkg-i tiemu2_2.08-1_armel.deb)

After the installation using a file manager, eg the FileBox delete the existing file ipaq_89t.skn located in /usr/share/tiemu2/skins
and then transfer the two files ipaq_89t.skn, ipaq_00plt.skn in this Folder.
(/Usr/share/tiemu2/skins)

Selecting the first option when you enter the application you will see 4 options listed as pedrom and version 0.81.
Personally I suggest to download the latest ROMS
Voyage ™ 200 (it has better environment than the Ti-89t) and the TI-89 Titanium.

After downloading the Roms by selecting ADD ... you can add them as an option and delete the other 4.....
It would be good to transfer the new Roms with FileManager at:
/Usr/share/tiemu2/pedrom/, where are the other 4.
