The best way of fire safety is not letting it happen in the first place, meaning you should be aware of the probable fire hazards in your house. Fire safety must be practiced in every home not only to protect your possessions but also your and your loved ones precious lives.

In case of fire you should get out of the house as fast as you can. For this you should plan before hand so that every member of your family knows what to do if there is a fire. Do not use elevators.

If you encounter smoke, keep low as the air just above the ground would be much cleaner and saves you from suffocation.

If you detect any unusual smell from any of the electronic devices, unplug it at once. Check for any damage in the electrical cords. Use proper sized fuses and circuit breakers as they play a key role in fire safety.

Store the emergency numbers in your cell phone, so that if there is a fire, once outside the house you can inform the fire authorities.

A Teaching Story

Here is an inspirational story I read somewhere:

Long time ago in China there was a time when people used to have gardens outside there houses. Almost all the families had one.

This story is about one such ordinary family having a modesthouse with a garden in front.

The family was going through a tough phase as the husband was not doing well in his career, the family was financially quite badly off and this was causing discord in their home.

One evening the wife was strolling in her garden waiting for the husband to come home from work.

From the corner of her eye she saw three old men standing in the far corner of her garden.

She gradually started walking towards them.

As she came closer she noticed that they were noble looking elderly men with long white beards.

She did not recognize them, but being a kind woman, she said "I don't think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have a cup of tea and something to eat."

"Is the man of the house home?" they asked.

"No", the wife said, "my husband is out."

"Then we cannot come in now", they replied.

In the meantime her husband returned home from work after another gruelling day.

He was obviously not in a good mood since, as usual; he had a bad day at work.

The wife immediately told him that they had guests standing outside and suggested they invite them.

Initially the husband was reluctant but then he finally agreed after being persuaded by his wife's insistence, so he said, "Okay, go and tell them that I am home and invite them in."

The woman went out and invited the men in.

"We do not go into a house together," they replied.

"Why is that?" asked the puzzled wife.

One of the old men explained: "His name is Wealth," he said pointing to one of his friends, and then pointing to the other one he said, "He is Success, and I am Love. Only one of us will come into your home. It is for you to decide which one of us three you want to invite into your home."

Seeing the confusion on her face, they told the wife, "We suggest you go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home."

The wife went in and told her husband about what the three old men had said.

The husband was overjoyed. "How nice," he said, "Let us invite Success. He will make me successful in my career, I will no longer be a loser, a failure, and all our troubles will go away."

But his wife disagreed, and said, "My dear, why don't we invite Wealth? Let him come in and fill our home with plenty of wealth it will make us rich and prosperous and you won't even have to work and we all can enjoy throughout our lives."

Their daughter was listening from the other corner of the house. The daughter wanted peace and harmony in the house so she said: "Let us invite Love. Our home will then be filled with love that's what we need most now!"

At first they did not agree with their daughter's suggestion but the daughter was very stubborn and would not change her mind so the two parents finally gave in and agreed to invite Love.

"Okay, we will do as our daughter says," the husband said to his wife, "you go out and invite Love to be our guest."

The woman went out and told the three old men, "We wish to invite Love into our home."

Love stepped forward and the wife started leading him towards her house.

As she conducted Love into her home she noticed that the other two Success and Wealth also followed and entered the house.

Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: "I only invited Love. Why are you two coming in?"

The old men replied together: "If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would have stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever he goes, we go with him. When Love comes into your lives, into your home, into your familySuccess and Wealth automatically follow."

I am sure you agree, Dear Reader, wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success, and even if those two, Wealth and Success are not there, it is Love that matters the most

Ive been studying the System of Life for some time now. With any study one thing that has to be done is a lot of data collecting. I suppose there are three main areas we can get this data. The first would be watching the world around us.

Watching The World

The World of People Watching everything that happens. Listening to everything people say. Reading what people have written. Read some of the Poets, look at the Art, listen to the Music, read what the world shapers say and everything in between. Watch what people do, how they act and react and listen to everything they say.

The Natural World Watching nature, plants, animals, the weather, the seasons, the heavens. Then read and look at everything that people have said about the natural world.

The Inner World This is the study of life through introspection. Meditation, paying attention to thoughts and feeling. Finding out whats in there and what it is.

The System of Life

Everyone and anyone is completely qualified to remark on the system of life. Everybody knows or has observed something. What I want to look at today is how the Natural World does things. Then I want to ask if we can do things in the same way. If we can wouldnt this be the best way since were a part of this natural world?

One thing youll notice if you watch nature is it does a lot of stuff without any noise. The rain forest was made in silence. I was looking at the tree off the balcony the other day. Its been there all winter apparently idle. Completely silent. Then all of a sudden (overnight) I see a little action on the ends of the branches. The days are getting longer. It knows this and knows that this is the time for a little action on the ends of the branches.

I think this type of work, or accomplishing, or whatever you want to call it is available to us. When I look around at the world of people I dont see much of this silent vibrant accomplishment. What I see are Ants. The industrious Ant has become the model for humans. I have nothing against Ants but I dont want to be one. What I learned from Ants is, if I keep putting one thing on top of another it will get taller.

There are a lot of people who behave like Tigers. They have adopted the style of a ferocious, gemme that, predator. I really like Tigers too but are they good role models? Are they all I need to know? Is this how I want society to work? The Tigers rule and the Ants toil? What Ive learned from Tigers is there are some obstacles you cant meet head on with a club. Sometimes a geographic relocation is the best solution.

How can I best, Get Things Done?

I dont want to be an Ant, and being a Tiger plays as long as youre the toughest Tiger (also a lot of work). How about learning from the tree? Could I do things like that? In total silence? Without all that noise and movement and effort?

Ive come to see that this is the best way to get things done. Its the best Earth System Ive seen. Is it possible for we humans to do things in this way? Lets take the chore of finding solutions to our problems. Remember, problems are problems because we say they are. All problems are personal problems.

Over the past few years most of my problems have been resolved while I was asleep. Or, they just popped into my head while I was doing something else like reading. What Ive attempted to do is: simply concentrate on identifying the problem. My current personal problem is: I keep habitually addressing problems as if I were an Ant, or a Tiger. Neither of which I am, or wish to be.

Here is the experiment, the test, to see if this is possible.

Whats the problem?

Identify as well as possible what the problem is. Write it down. Leave it alone dont mess with it, just leave it.

We cant act like Ants or Tigers and do the test.

Being what we are.

What is my state of consciousness?

Or level of consciousness. Ever notice how no one says make, create or build a higher state of consciousness? Its always something like attain, gain (as in gain on or catch up to), strive towards. What Ive come to understand (so far) is that consciousness Is. Its there. Its always been there. We can go toward it possibly in understanding. Can we go into it. Can we tap in to it, flow with it, be in it or not.

Heres something to look at Lets raise the level of consciousness in ourselves. What does that mean. Some hear this and think raise as, work to increase, lift, raise like a barn, build and so on. Is this what it says?

The way Ive come to understand this is that raising this level is much like raising the level of a lake. Any analogy will work as long as we see consciousness like water. How do we raise the level of water, say, in a barrel? I picked this because in this case we control the water, or the consciousness. We just pour in the water. The level was what it was and now its this. The similarity in any analogy we choose Lake, barrel and so on is there has to be a place for the water.

If we keep putting water in a barrel and it will flow over the top and fill any spaces that are available on the ground. Keep pouring and a lake will form. Keep pouring and the lake will rise until it flows over the hills and starts to fill the places available on the other side.

Like water, consciousness will fill any place available. We only need to make the place. Consciousness is always being poured. It Is, and it is abundant. It will fill, automatically and without effort on our part, any place available to it. In fact effort fills the place that consciousness would naturally fill if we got rid of effort. This is my opinion after much watching and testing.

Effortless Solutions

Which leads us again to our test our experiment.

Putting our Problems to Bed

Now that we have clarified our problem as well as possible we will sleep on it. Remember that Rain Forest which was made in silence? Thats what were going to test. Can the solutions come out of us, or through us, effortlessly? So effortlessly that we can do it in our sleep? Everyone has woken to an answer at one time or another. What I do is try and make this the rule. Instead of the occasional boon Ill make it my natural everyday process for accomplishing things.

Every night will be a little Winter. Every morning will be the Spring and the life I created will burst forth on the scene.

Consciousness will do this for me. All throughout the history of mankind weve heard the wise directing us to the light. There are countless stories using light, and water, to represent consciousness when delivering messages and spiritual instruction. This is not mistake or happenstance. There are properties in light and water that hold the key to life itself.

The Question
When a person is raped or sexually abused they often go into shock. They may not even be aware they are in shock. When asked afterwards about the events, many such traumatized individuals speak of being in a dreamlike state and having 'out of body' experiences. How is it then that these individuals can even function afterwards? As validation of such behavior, I wish to speak from my own personal experiences, whereby you can draw your own conclusions.

Validation - An Example of Going Into Shock
At last, he left me there in the yardexposed, counting, and crying. "One, two, three, four, five, six"

I counted to fifty, and as I was doing so, my weeping became more intense. Instinctively, I had put my hands back over my eyes as soon as he ordered me to be quiet. His warning had frightened me further, as if that were possible. I was laying flat on my back, almost utterly naked, and counting. But the only thought going through my mind at that moment was the all-encompassing terror for my sister. Was he out there now, looking for her? Oh my God! Help her! Save her! I had to get dressed as fast as I could to warn her. I counted as quickly as possible, so I could leave. I had at last reached the end, "forty-seven, forty-eight, forty-nine, fifty!"

Jumping up, I began the search for my clothes, all the while crying. To my surprise, they were not resting right next to me. By a large cluster of Pampas grass to my left, I found my red shorts and underwear. My panties were halfway inside my shorts. My absent tennis shoe seemed to have disappeared. I had to look hard for it and was close to abandoning the search, when I noticed it wedged in the bottom leaves of the Pampas grass he had been inspecting when the whole incident began.

I quickly started to put on my clothes. My shorts and panties were much like a lid from a sardine can, peeled back with a key. I had to unroll them in order to dress again. I was bawling by that point and shaking so hard that it was difficult to stand and dress. I felt faint, and nearly fell over as I slipped on my tennis shoe without even bothering to untie it.

For a moment, I was so disoriented I did not even realize that I was already wearing my blouse, and I began to search for it. All I could see was my exposed chest. It finally dawned on me that I was wearing the shredded piece of fabric, with the buttons torn off. I had no other choice but to hold the front closed with my hands.

As I staggered back out onto Hawthorne Street, the sun was just starting to rise. Before I moved any further, I surveyed the area to see if my attacker was anywhere in sight. I concluded he was gone and took off running in the direction of Bowser Street.

"Mary, are you there? Help! I need you! Mary, where are you?" There was no answer.

In a split second, my mind went wild. Oh no! He has her!

I was not even thinking rationally. I lost control of my faculties. I immediately raced in the direction of Lemmon Avenue, in the hopes that I would stumble onto Mary. Maybe he did not get her. I prayed, PLEASE GOD, SAVE MY SISTER FROM THAT MAN!

As I reached Lemmon Avenue, I saw that she was not in sight. I knew that if that man had not taken her, she surely would have made it to this point already. After all, the sun was almost completely up. I was all alone, standing on the corner of Hawthorne and Lemmon Avenues, bawling and screaming her name at the top of my lungs.

I turned and headed in the direction of our house, thinking I needed to get back home; it was only a couple of blocks away. Running down the middle of Lemmon Avenue, screaming for Mary, I held my blouse tight about my chest, sobbing buckets. I was completely unaware of my surroundings. With every step I took, I became more hysterical.

"Mary! Mary! Oh my God, where are you? Help! Help me, somebody!"

Unexpectedly, a police cruiser pulled up beside me and abruptly stopped. As the policeman rolled down his window, I immediately froze on the spot. I was unaware of the few passing cars, slowing to gawk.

"What is going on here? Are you OK?"

The officer's voice sounded dreamlike. I was in shock. For the next several hours, I responded to every question in a trancelike state. I answered, but from where the answers came, only God knew.

The Spirit Within Directs You
As can be seen from the above account, after being a rape victim I was totally disoriented. However, I somehow managed to try to protect my sister and race home to safety. How was I able to do this?

Most of you would agree that each of us is not only made up of a physical body, but also a spiritual soul. The physical body can die, but the spirit lives on forever. The job of the mind is to protect the body at all costs.

Most of us do not pay much attention to the spirit of God that resides within us, but instead focus on the rumblings of our mind. However, whenever you someone or something traumatizes you, the physical body is severely distressed and may not function properly. Nevertheless, the spirit is always present and takes control when the mind and body shuts down. Therefore, you always have spiritual direction. So, even though you do not know what direction you are going, the spirit knows and guides you back to safety.
