How I Met Your Mother Season 5 Episode 6 Bagpipes - Recap

Ted and Robin are flustered to find out their upstairs neighbors are always having sex…err bagpipes as future Ted calls it. Ted goes upstairs to discover they’re old and can’t tell them to stop, cause, hey, good for them!

Meanwhile, Barney reveals that he’s never had a fight with Robin and convinces Marshall to stand up to Lily and stop cleaning up the dishes after himself. Using an elaborate speech and a horribly misogynistic dream sequence in which he makes out with Lily, the plan sounds pretty good to us too. Marshall goes for it, completely butchers the speech (would it have mattered anyway?), and ends up in a multi-day fight with Lily.

With tactics like that, Ted is convinces there’s no way Robin and Barney aren’t fighting. Inspired by his own bagpiping problem, Ted finds out from Barney’s downstairs neighbor that the two are fighting all the time. Apparently everything worked with Barney’s “walk out of the room” and Robin’s “get naked” strategies until they were trapped on a ski lift where neither could employ their trick. After that, the fight snowballed into every problem they’ve ever had. They eventually come to Lily and Marshall for advice and soon our favorite married couple realize how small their problems are, make up, and celebrate with some champagne that they’re still the best couple. Oh and they do a little bagpiping too.

Don’t worry, Ted and Robin work it out, but just have to deal with the fact that maybe not everything is a competition. They don’t have to be the best couple…

JoAnna Garcia to Guest Star on How I Met Your Mother

JoAnna Garcia is coming to How I Met Your Mother as an old friend, and potential conquest, for Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother later this season, reports say. The Privileged alum will play Ted’s college buddy, Maggie, in “The Window.”

Maggie is described as the perfect “girl next door” type, the one every guy wants to marry as soon as he meets her. Only no one has. Ted senses an opportunity.

When he learns that Maggie is not a relationship for once in her life, ecstatic Ted rushes to make a move before his narrow “window of opportunity” closes for good.

Will he succeed? That’s doubtful, as Garcia is only signed on for a single episode. But some funny How I Met Your Mother quotes should come out of it at least.

Josh Radnor’s Ted Mosby has always had a thing for old friend Maggie (Joanna Garcia).

Garcia, who has also appeared on Gossip Girl this season, joins Rachel Bilson, Tim Gunn, Chris Elliott and Kenny Rogers as How I Met Your Mother guest stars this season.

JoAnna Garcia has landed a guest spot on How I Met Your Mother as yet another potential conquest of Ted’s, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

The Privileged alum will play Ted’s college buddy, Maggie, in an upcoming episode called “The Window.” She’s described as the perfect girl next door who every guy wants to marry as soon as he meets her. So sought-after is Maggie that she’s always in a relationship, leaving Ted waiting and waiting for his shot at her. When he hears that she’s finally single, he rushes to her door in hopes that his “window of opportunity” has not elapsed.

Garcia, who has also appeared on Gossip Girl this season, joins Rachel Bilson, Tim Gunn, Chris Elliott and Kenny Rogers as Mother guest stars this season. Garcia is only signed on for one episode.

“The Window” airs Dec. 7 at 8/7c on CBS.

So how are Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders) faring as a couple on How I Met Your Mother? Well, if the upcoming Nov. 9 episode of the CBS comedy is any indication, maybe not so great. Barney, it seems, has packed on some pounds. “It’s a phenomenon that a lot of people can relate to, certainly more than a few people on our writing staff. It’s relationship gut,” says HIMYM exec producer and co-creator Carter Bays. Bays says Harris was more than game to don a fat suit for the episode. “He was loving it. He was like, ‘Give me the biggest fat suit you’ve got.’”
