You just bought your new pneumatic impact wrench, but it doesn’t feel as powerful as you thought it would. Or maybe your wrench is a couple years old, and it isn’t working like it used to. Some things that you should check are the performance of your air compressor, the quality of your air hoses, and that your tool is well oiled.

You should definitely check your air compressor before you buy your impact wrench, to make sure it can handle the air consumption required by your impact wrench. But what if your compressor should have enough power but doesn’t? There are a couple quick things you can check.

First you’ll want to clean the intake vents, and maybe change the air filters if necessary. If your compressor has too much resistance when bringing fresh air into the tank, it’s not going to get you the pressure you need. You’ll also want to check the hoses. They are the veins of your air compressor, and if they start to leak, you won’t be getting as much pressure either. If you’ve had your compressor for a long time, you may also need to clean out the fuel tank. This should be done yearly to remove any residue that could be building up inside your fuel tank. There are definitely other things that could be the problem, but a full air compressor maintenance guide is not the purpose of this article.

The next thing you’ll want to check is your air hoses. Just like the hoses on your air compressor, the hoses that bring the compressed air from your compressor to your tool are crucial. If anything is leaking, or if they are cracked or kinked, you’ll lose pressure. If you’re hoses are old and you’re not sure, just replace them. Air hoses are cheap, and your tools will run better. You will also want to note that you lose pressure as air travels through your hose, and the longer your hose is, the bigger your pressure drop will be. If you have a 3/8″ hose, and you’re air flow is 10cfm, you’ll lose about 1 psi for every 10 feet, but if you use smaller hose the loss will be greater. It may not seem like much, but it adds up.

A tool that’s not properly oiled is also a common problem. If there isn’t enough oil, there will be a lot of friction in the system. The more friction you’ve got, the less power you get.

It’s never fun when you’re tools don’t work as well as they are supposed to, and I know all too well the feeling of pulling the trigger only to see it struggle and stop. Some quick and easy fixes for the low power blues are to give a quick maintenance check to your compressor, check over all your air hoses to make sure they are in good shape, and to keep your tools properly oiled.

If you are tracking down moisture in wet walls, basement leaks or other difficult to find waterproofing problems, often the blueprints can save you many hours of frustration. Blueprints (also called plans) are like road maps, a view from above. They are drawn to scale (e.g., 1 inch = 2 feet). Usually, the thickest, darkest lines are walls.

Symbols are used to represent fixtures and appliances.

Elevations are straight-on views from the front or sides.

Sections are cut-a-ways, like someone chopped through the structure with a clever. They show hidden details of how the walls, floors, etc. are built. Whole sets of blueprints, drawing or plans exist for most homes. Each one is interconnected with the others, and changes on one usually affect the others. A complete set of drawings usually includes the following.

A Floor Plan shows elevations and wall sections and also shows the location for fixtures and appliances.

A Foundation Plan shows details of crawl spaces or basement walls. These are usually of most value when waterproofing as they will give you an idea of what to look for on the outside of the building that may be causing the problem. They will also show the location of footer drain tiles which run beneath the concrete basement floor, which may have become clogged, broken or (if exterior drain tiles) filled with plant roots.

A Framing Plan is drawn on a simplified floor plan and has the horizontal structural members with joist, trusses and beams drawn in.

The Electrical Plan and the Mechanical Plan are also drawn over the background of a simplified floor plan, (for big projects, these plans show the HVAC, electrical and plumbing details separately). These can be valuable in finding condensation on cold water lines, which is not always as obvious to find as one would think.

A Roof Plan is drawn for complex roof systems and shows ridges, hips, valleys, rakes and eaves, which are pertinent to storm runoff and sometimes indicates insufficient downspouts for the roof surface area drained.

The Details show complex details such as door sills, jambs, eaves, windowsills and headers. Occasionally, one will find on them an “unknown” window or door behind a dry-walled or paneled basement room, which is the source of the water problem.

A Site Plan shows compass direction, topography, land contours, structures and lot boundaries. These are important when determining the surface flow of runoff water.

A Schedule is a chart that list items such as windows, doors, fixtures by size, make, model, etc., which can be handy if you ever need to replace a damaged item.

The Specifications are written instructions on products and construction methods. They appear on the blueprints and/or in their own folder and sometimes give valuable clues as to the source of a water problem which is otherwise difficult to find and understand.

The Perspectives show a 3-D image of the structure in various views. They give an overall picture of how the structure will look. (They are done before the actual construction.)

CAD refers to Computer Assisted Drawing. Nearly all blueprints today are made with CAD.

Our house is the only place where we feel comfortable and peaceful. We feel safe from all kinds of dangers and hazards when at home. However, do you know there are some organisms that may inhabit within your house and cause you great danger? If we let these organisms remain in our houses, even our own homes would not be a safe place to live in. It is therefore important that you always maintain your house from this nasty organism called black molds.

Black mold removal is something you have to be very careful about, as it is highly toxic. You need to thoroughly test and inspect your home to ensure that it is free of black mold and is a safe place to live in for you and your family. You should be particularly vigilant about black molds if any one in your family has any kind of allergy.

Washroom and kitchens are the prime places where black mold is likely to grow, and you need to inspect especially in these areas. This is because these areas are usually damp and have a lot of moisture.

You can prevent and clean off black mold spores yourself at homes through three simple steps. Firstly, you need to treat each room separately and seal off the room properly before you begin. Shut off the ventilation system and make use of heavy duty plastic bags to seal the windows, doors and vents. Make sure that the dust level in your home is as low as possible.

Once you have completely sealed the room, you can proceed to the next step, which is the removal of black mold. Use a solution of detergent and water to scrub the substance off the walls and floor. Black mold are grown in areas that are not visible, so make sure you clean off all those areas where the spores may have landed. You should then disinfect those affected areas specifically, in order to kill the mold. After you have cleaned the areas, it is necessary that you thoroughly dry them.

Once you are done with cleaning, make sure that you dispose off all the contaminated materials. Throw these materials far away from your house to avoid re-infecting other areas around. Remember not to carry infected materials through your house, but in fact, use a window to place the bags directly outside.

If your house has a small affected area, it is quite easy to clean it off yourself by carefully following the guidelines, but in case of a large affected area, it is essential that you seek the help pf a professional.

Black mold is caused in moist places; it grows where there is plenty of stagnant water and also at the storage place of rotten material. Moreover, it grows under the carpets, near the leakage of water pipes and at the dump places. If any living creature gets affected by black mold, the results might be fatal or the suffering may remain for lifetime. Such cases are the extreme ones. The existence of black mold is extremely harmful for the infants and pregnant mothers; and, they special affect those who do not have strong immune system.

If you love your family members, you must take the action now. If you notice any effected area near your house or inside your home, you must immediately reduce the level of moisture in that affected area or buy spray bottles, fill them with the solution and spray on all the affected areas. You must keep in mind that you should take precautions before spraying.

Another technique to deal with this problem is to clean the affected place with acids and scrub the black mold; this will easily allow you to get rid of the problem. Actually, if black mold is present in the houses, it creates indoor pollution. However, in order to remove the black mold, you need to use every possible precaution to avoid the intensive illness.

Your home is the only place where you can take a refuge from all the tiring work, but, if your own place is infected by the black mold, your house is not worth living. If fungus is growing in your homes, the best precaution is chlorine bleach; this method is very inexpensive as well. The procedure is to add chlorine bleach into the bucket full of water and spray it on the affected area. The results are noticeable. After that, you should keep the area dry to avoid rebirth of the fungus.

Once you have cleaned the area, you must disinfect it. You can use a quality disinfectant and spread it all over the place and leave it untouched for some time. Later, you may clean the place with water. It is important to keep in mind that you must not leave water on the floor or keep it moist by any chance. Dry up the place with the help of sponge or in any other possible way.

Apartments are notorious for having very small living spaces, and it can be a real challenge to find a TV stand to fit into a tight living room space. You can find a few creative solutions for a small TV stand, if you look in the right places and know your limitations. It is a great idea to start the project by measuring your space, so that you know how much room you have and can determine what sort of TV stand would work best in your space. Here are some ideas for creative TV stands that fit in a small space:

Corner Entertainment Center

While most TV stands are designed to sit flush against a wall, meaning that you have to give up half or more of one wall in your living room, some are designed for corner use. This means that you lose a much smaller portion of the room to the TV stand, and these corner entertainment centers are also very inexpensive and fairly easy to assemble, depending on where you purchase and what brand you choose. They normally feature a flat surface for a TV, up to 29″ usually, and have some shelving or doors for cabinet storage underneath.

Parson’s Table

Most modern televisions are far slimmer than those from a decade ago, and you can utilize a much smaller table or stand than you could have before in a small space without compromising the television’s safety. A parson’s table is a narrower table with a high tabletop and long legs, so it is perfect for a small TV stand. You can use the area underneath the table for storage simply by adding a tablecloth to hid unsightly boxes or using more stylish storage options underneath.

Chest or Steamer Trunk

Multi-purpose and multi-function items are very creative solutions for a small TV stand, and the more uses you get out of a piece of furniture the more value it offers in a small space. If your chest or steamer trunk is very sturdy, you can set a small TV on top of it in a corner, without losing the storage space inside. Store blankets or out-of-season clothing inside the trunk, so that it does not have to be opened often and you do not risk dropping the television.

Solid Wood Art Easel

This is another great creative idea, using a sturdy art easel to hang a flat screen wall-mounted television. Make sure that the easel is sturdy enough to hold the television, and when you assemble the easel pay careful attention to detail with every single screw and bolt to ensure safety and stability. Mount the television to the easel just like you would on the wall, and stand the easel somewhere that works for your living room. Ideas like this make it easy to move the television if you want to rearrange the furniture, and you have an easier time lifting the television on an easel, all without having to worry about re-mounting the television on a different wall.

Most of the people desire for a house that is entirely clean, tidy and germ free. However, molds and mildews can greatly hinder this cause. They are basically microscopic organisms that are very tiny in shape. There are several different kinds of them that can immensely affect our health.

Toxic black mold is the most injurious fungus found in many homes. These toxic thing can produce hazardous gas known as mycotoxins. Individuals who suffer from asthma and respiratory syndrome are the ones to be more prone to adverse effects. Not only this, but even the healthier people may suffer due to the development of sick building syndrome.

Almost every home gets affected by mold infestations. The trick is to stop them from forming and harming both you and your family. They are most commonly found in the toilets, kitchens, plumbing leakages of the walls and broken pipes. It is basically a kind of fungus that grows from tiny spores and floats in the air. Every damp place in your home can give birth to black mold.

Such things are difficult to identify, as it does not have any specific smell of its own. However, in order to identify black mold, just dab a few drops of bleach on the black surface. If that particular area gets lightened after a few minutes, it means that it has been affected by black mold, but if the area remains dark then it is probably dirt.

It is very essential that you get black mold treated and prevent its growth before it is too late. You should go for mold remediation and mold removal. As they release in the open air, it can float throughout the house and may cause severe allergic reactions like watery eyes, runny nose and nasal congestion. There are several mold cleaning methods that can effectively deal with these persistent problems and can help prevent them from occurring.

However, many households use bleaches to get rid of them, but cleaning this toxic substance off the wall from bleaches is not as easy as it seems to be. Bleach in the bleach water solution vaporizes too quickly and leaves behind only the water. As a result, it does not dry as fast as is necessary to get rid of the spores. Studies have revealed that bleaches are not suitable for cleaning black molds, as it may adversely affect one’s health.

It is therefore essential that you get rid of them with reliable and tested removal methods in order to protect you and your family from possible diseases.

When you realize you can actually generate power by DIY wind turbines, you have lots of questions to ask before beginning. You are at the right place! I will answer some questions that newbies usually have confusions about it.

Q. How is wind energy produced?

The wind (kinetic energy) pushes the blades around and the generator turns. The magnets inside a coil of wires spin and produce electrical energy.

Q. What are the advantages and disadvantages of wind energy?

Advantages: You will gain long-term benefits. Homemade wind power can produce power for years. You can cut your energy bills, save money on installation fee and reduce your carbon footprint!

Disadvantages: The energy produced solely depends on the strength of the wind. Besides, it might produce some noise when it is running.

Q. How much energy does a wind generator produce?

It depends on the wind speed and size. The greater the height of wind generator, the greater the amount of power produced (wind speed is faster at greater height). Besides, large turbines produce more electricity. However, wind speed is the determining factor that you must take note of it.

Q. How much do wind power cost?

A homemade wind turbine can be created with less than $200 if you know where to find your materials and how to do it.

Q. How to build your own wind turbines if you are not the “Handyman” type?

No problem. What you have to do is to find a complete step-by-step guide that will explain everything about building your own wind power. Buy the one that you prefer the most and follow the instructions accordingly. It is NOT as hard as you think!

Building a rabbit hutch can be a simple one weekend project. The material list is pretty short and you may well have some of the materials in your shed. Rabbits unlike many animals are kept in a cage well above ground level along with their hutch or coop. Start with making the bottom frame out of two inch by four inch lumber. Standing the two by fours on edge, create a rectangle shaped frame three wide by eight feet long. Add cross braces using two by four pieces, every sixteen inches on center. In all four corners add a two by four vertically that overall is six feet long. Center the frame so that the six foot two by fours form legs with three feet showing below and three feet (-) above the frame. Measure from one end of the rectangular fame approx. thirty two inches which should be where the second cross brace occurs. At that intersection of main frame and cross brace, add two more six foot legs. Using galvanized screws for assembly will make the frame good and strong. Place screws through the main frame and cross braces into the legs. All the legs should be pressure treated lumber as they are in contact with the ground and will last a great deal longer.

Now install two by fours around the perimeter of the two by fours on top of the main frame. It basically should match the main frame. At this point if the entire assembly is not rock steady add some additional braces to the legs to stabilize the unit. Once this is done you will now create the hutch portion of the project. Using non-pressure treated plywood as the rabbit will be in constant contact with the plywood, we are going to build a box on one end of the frame. At the end where you installed the inside legs at thirty two inches, install a plywood floor piece on the main frame. Using our dimensions it will be three feet wide and thirty-two inches long. Now install pieces for the two sides. They will be thirty-two inches long and and three feet high each. Install a piece of plywood for the roof. Leave a couple of inches of plywood hang over the sides so rain sheds off without hitting the sides of the hutch. If you can get fancy and make a slight pitch to the roof so much the better. When you are all done with the hutch, install some type of roofing materials to keep your rabbit good and dry.

The last two pieces of the hutch or box are basically the same but serve different functions. The end facing the remaining part of the rectangular frame must have a door that you can open and close at night to keep the rabbit inside his/her hutch box. A neat way to do this is to cut out a door about twelve inches wide and twelve inches wide in the center of the end piece. Mount the cut piece of plywood back in the hole on a piano hinge on the top edge of the plywood. Install a screw eye in the outside face of the door at the bottom center. Tie a good heavy string to the screw eye, run it up over the top of the hutch box for now. The opposite end of the box will have a much larger door with a good solid latch, mounted on a longer hinge to allow you to access the inside of the hutch box for cleaning. Swing this door to the side so it will remain open while you work. With this combination of doors you can allow the rabbit into the run area, close that door and open the clean out door without having to watch the rabbit the entire time. You have one more plywood piece to install. Cut one more panel the same size as the other two end panels and create a matching door to the clean out door.

This panel is installed on the last end of the rectangular frame or the end of the entire assembly. This door will allow you to feed the rabbit and clean out the run area. Make sure everything is nailed or screwed securely and nothing projects out that can harm the rabbit. Using 3/8″ hardware cloth (the holes are 3/8″ x 3/8′) wrap the remaining floor, wall and roof of the run area making sure no wire ends protrude where the rabbits paws can reach them. The ends of hardware cloth although somewhat soft to our hands to bend, easily can puncture the soft paw pads of a rabbit. Fold all all ends over to prevent any injuries. Fasten the hardware cloth with good fence staples leaving no openings that varmints can get in and harm the rabbit. Take the string you tied to the inside door, pass it through the hardware cloth and over the the top of the hutch and tie it to a second screw eye. By pulling on the string you can open the inside hutch door each morning to let the rabbit out of it’s box. Just wrap the string around the screw eye to hold the door open all day. Place some bedding in the box, a water bowl in the run and some rabbit food and grass for the rabbit to eat and your good to go. The rabbit poop will generally fall through the bottom of the run for easy cleanup. Have fun with your rabbit and give it plenty of attention. A point of fact. Young rabbits can easily be paper trained if kept inside.

As you read this article I think you will begin to see that when you Buy Shed Plans it doesn’t matter what experience or DIY skills you have, by following step by step guides your project will be an enjoyable experience.

Okay you are probably thinking is it worth building a shed from scratch or shall I go & get a self assembly one at the DIY store. Well of course you will want to weigh up the pros & cons. My experience has been that self assembly can be very expensive & depending on what you are going to use your shed for they do not give the option to tailor to your needs. In contract when you Buy Shed Plans you can decide exactly how you want the finished article to look.

Many of the self assembly sheds are so small that you can hardly stand up when inside them. When you build your own you also get to insulate & waterproof it well, ensuring that it will last for years.

Just consider:

Budget – How much you want to spend will dictate the materials you use. If money is no object, probably not that likely in today’s financial climate then you may go for an expensive wood. If on the other hand you need to keep costs down then you could choose to use reclaimed timber, this will also provide an eco friendly option.

Environmentally friendly – I am sure you are aware of the damage to the rain forest & consequently to wildlife & the environment that much of today’s timber harvesting causes. There are green options available. If buying new timber make sure you see the FSC mark. Alternatively you could choose reclaimed timber, this can be found in a variety of species.

Personalize – Put your own stamp on the building. You can fit the inside out exactly as you want it depending upon its use. Make plenty of work surfaces if to be used for gardening & as a potting shed. If it’s primarily going to be your workshop you can build a workbench with storage for you tools.

Lighting – When you Buy Shed Plans you will be able to place windows where you need them & make the best use of all important natural light. You may also choose to add sky lights. As you will know this will be a great benefit when using your shed as a workshop or art studio.

Save Time – By using plans that provide easy to follow step by step guides you will be able to complete your project in less time without too much hassle.

Now are you convinced?

No more wasting time & effort on a project that doesn’t turn out the way you wanted

No more hassle when you discover that you have got the measurements all wrong

If the eldest members of your family have reached inconvenient ages and they start to require assistance when using the stairs in your home, maybe it’s time you got them a home stairlift. Stair lifts are adaptive equipment that assist handicapped people who can’t climb up and down the stairs on their own. Generally, they are like pulley systems that hoist platforms or chairs up and down the stairs-all you need to do is get on the platform or into the chair and buckle up.

A Typical Stair Lift Setup

A home stair lift is typically a system that consists of a cable mechanism that hoists a chair mounted directly on the staircase railing or an adjacent wall. As for the power supply, the lift can get power from the house’s main supply or from a battery or two of its own.

When they first came out stairlifts used a simple cable belt system and ran on mains power, but more modern stair lifts now employ the rack and pinion system and rechargeable batteries. The rack and pinion system provides a smoother ride compared to the cable belt, and relying on battery power afforded stairlifts emergency power that lets operate normally even when there’s no power in the household.

Brand New? Second Hand?

Before you get your own home stairlift installed into your household, you should know that they can cost a lot. There are a number of home stair lift manufacturers out there that sell cheap stairlifts, but we all know that you only get as much as your money can buy. Most cheap home stair lift manufacturers can only provide straight stair lifts that run on old fashioned mechanisms. Though they do work fine, you’ll be missing out on some great modern facilities and features.

So if you want to save up on your home stairlift purchase, the next best thing is to buy second hand. That option has a number of pitfalls too, though. But it’s only a matter of avoiding these pitfalls and you can land yourself a good bargain on a used home stairlift system.

To achieve your goal of saving money when buying a used home stairlift, calculate your overall expenses and compare it with the estimated overall expenses associated with buying a brand new system. Including parts, repair, additional modification, and regular maintenance (what with the home stairlift being second hand, after all), ask your self if it’s that much cheaper to get a used one instead of a new one.
