One of the most experienced Excimer laser surgeons worldwide, having performed nearly 18,000 laser surgeries for the correction of mild, moderate and severe myopia or hyperopia with or without astigmatism. Has treated patients not only from Canada, but also from as far afield as the USA, Iran, the Canary Islands, Ireland, Finland, Luxembourg and Britain. In addition to PRK, performs LASIK, the procedure of choice for most patients.
One of the first surgeons in Canada to perform Excimer laser refractive surgery for the correction of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. Also has extensive experience with the Excimer laser in the UK, where he practises. Dr. Cherry is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Toronto.

International medical training, having attended medical school in Britain, Ophthalmology residency in the USA, Cornea specialty training in Britain and Canada. Spent periods of training at the following institutions that have international reputations: Harvard (Boston); Johns Hopkins (Baltimore); Moorfields Eye Hospital (London, UK).

Over twenty-five years experience as a certified Ophthalmic Surgeon and Cornea specialist. Cornea specialization is invaluable in dealing with Excimer laser patients because they have had corneal laser surgery.

Holds Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons qualifications from three countries (Scotland, England and Canada), and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK).

Member of the International Corneal Society, former Council member of the British Excimer and Keratorefractive Laser Society, member of the British Society for Refractive Surgery, member of the Summit & VISX International Users Group.

Fifty published papers in ophthalmic international literature on corneal subjects, including Excimer laser topics.

Excimer laser papers presented to Ophthalmic Surgeons from around the world at the annual meetings of Summit Technology in Montreux, Switzerland and Palm Beach, Florida; at the annual meetings of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Seattle, Washington and San Diego, California; at the annual meeting of VISX in Toronto; at the annual meeting of the British Excimer and Keratorefractive Laser Society; and at the annual meeting of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK).

Dr. Cherry has featured in national press articles in Canada and Britain about Excimer laser surgery.
