Neck skin begins to appear saggy and crepe while the (playsma) muscle bands become prominent even when not actively clinching our neck muscles.  In most young patients it is premature to immediately jump to neck lifting surgery to correct these early signs of the aging neck.

Fortunately, we have a few quick, safe, and effective non-invasive, non-surgical treatments to restore a youthful neck.   These treatments include Radiesse hyper-dilute injections, Ultherapy, Profound RF (Radio-frequency), light CO2 laser, and Medi-Inject.

Radiesse is a biological stimulatory filler which mean once it is injected, your body reacts to it by making more of your own collagen where it was placed.  Research has shown that mixing Radiesse 1:4 with lidocaine and saline results in the perfect mix to stimulate collagen in the neck resulting in immediate noticeable improvement of crepiness and horizontal “rings” of aging in the neck.  Adding heat from a device (either Ultherapy or Profound Radiofrequency with microneedles) multiplies the effects of the previous hyper-dilute Radiesse injections.  In select patients we add a very light CO2 laser superficially, and in others we add a customized “cocktail” injection with Medi-Inject.  Medi-Injectis an automated injection system that precisely injects a cocktail of PRP, hyaluronic acid filler, Botox, and other ingredients in the epidermis resulting in fresh vibrant skin.  Vitamins, skin lighteners, and even stem cells can be injected with Medi-Inject.

Collagen induction therapy, more commonly known as microneedling, has become increasingly popular in the past few years. This procedure achieves dramatic, long-lasting results while having the benefit of being a minimally invasive procedure. 

While microneedling alone produces significant improvement, the newest trend in microneedling is taking those results up a level. This trend is microneedling with PRP.

What Is Microneedling With PRP?

Microneedling is a procedure where fine, short needles are used to create micro-openings in the skin that stimulate rejuvenation. The body’s natural response to these tiny microscopic skin pricks is to produce higher collagen and elastin stores, reducing or removing scars and improving overall skin health (texture, tone, and color.)

More recently, plastic surgeons have started to incorporate Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) into the microneedling process. PRP uses the patient’s blood to help rejuvenate the skin. After the wounds are created, the platelets are applied to the skin and are absorbed through the newly created microscopic openings, resulting in more effective microneedling.

Medi-Inject takes micro-needling to a new and improved level. Like micro-needling, Medi-Inject uses multiple tiny needles, but we are able to inject a personalized “cocktail” of PRP, BOTOX® Cosmetic, hyaluronic acid filler, skin lighteners, vitamins, and even stem cells into the dermis at the precise level of maximum effect. Dr. Persky has given this treatment the name Brazilian Skin Boost (BSB.) The skin is numbed with topical anesthetic for one hour—the treatment itself takes about 45 minutes. “Your eyes are the windows to your soul”

There is little denying that your eyes are your most striking facial feature. Although their primary purpose is sight, your eyes are capable of so much more, from being able to express your innermost feelings to communicating without words.

Unfortunately, wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin, and dark circles can develop around the eyes that make you appear older than you are and limit your ability to convey your full range of emotions.

Why Does Aging Develop So Early Around the Eyes?

Some people are born with “heavy” upper eyelids. Their genetically full upper eyelids obscure the crease that is usually present when our eyes are open. The majority of people begin to see excess upper lid skin in their forties. This is due to a combination of factors. Volume loss of bone and fat, loss of skin elasticity, and aging of the skin contribute to the aging eyelid. Visible aging is a symptom of thinning skin. This happens gradually; however, as the skin and tissues around the eyes are already paper-thin, it often affects the eyes earlier than other facial features. When this occurs, the upper eyelids begin to droop and hang down over the open upper eye crease. The lower eyelid aging occurs again due to loss of volume in the surrounding cheeks, which then reveals the lower eyelid fat pads. The fat pads have always been there but are not visible in youth because the surrounding fat volume blends the area between the lower eyelid and the cheek. With volume loss, lower eyelid “bags” of fat become visible superior to the “valley” of volume loss below and the cheek mound below that. Some patients have genetic dark lower eyelid skin (dark circles). The loss of volume in the lower lid intensifies the dark circles as shadows create more darkness. 

How Does Blepharoplasty Reverse Aging Eyes? 

An eyelid lift, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure that corrects premature aging around the eyes to restore a youthful, refreshed quality that will be apparent close-up as well as across the room. This procedure reduces excess skin, puffiness, and drooping upper eyelids, as well as corrects excess skin and “bags” of the lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty can increase your range and field of vision by eliminating excess, drooping skin.

Our philosophy is that eyelid surgery should be done conservatively, re-creating the natural appearance of the eyelids. Less is more—patients should never have that “startled, wide open eye” appearance. Even though this is a surgical procedure, it can be performed in our office under local anesthesia. Within an hour, years of aging are corrected. Blepharoplasty is considered one of the “biggest bangs for the buck” in facial plastic surgery, instantly taking years off the patient’s perceived age. Stitches are removed after four to five days, and patients can use a concealer within seven days. Our patients return to their normal day-to-day lifestyles with minimal downtime, many commenting that, “It was the best thing that I ever did for myself.”
