The research this week includes how Vit D may prevent aging. We discuss whether chickpox vaccine should be added to the MMR vaccine, and how a new gene carried by half the population may predispose to obesity. Organic milk may help babies eczema, and a cannabis derived compound may halt spread of cancer cells. Further a gene called DHH gene may explain the link between smoking in pregnancy and infertility in the male offspring. In Episode 17, cholesterol is topical again- with new studies looking at the benefits of screening toddlers for high cholesterol, and a paper showing that statins, drugs used to treat cholesterol, may be have longer lasting benefits than first thought. Other research suggests that mobile phones are indeed safe but tailored herbal medicine has no benefit according to a new review.
