after years of working with clients and giving herbs, supplements, nutrition changes, and giving reiki sessions i ended up just teaching people to heal themselves. think about how much more empowering that is..... to decide for yourself what herbs or nutrition changes you are comfortable with and having that knowledge to help yourself. same with reiki. my students come to class, learn new skills, give and receive sessions. when you give a session you receive that energy as well, do a lot of healing energy is shared in class 🌀🙏🏼

when i give the class for throat chakra, we look at questions like : do you speak too much or too little? do you speak your truth? the 7 chakras that most people are familiar with are actually “the old chakra system”. the newer chakras are not in a nice little line above the head, they are found in many areas in and around the body. we work with opening and stabilizing the new chakra system during the reiki apprenticeship.

wild roses are so beautiful! i use the twigs, leaves and blooms in teas (infusions), as a very gentle relaxing herb. in the fall the rose hips are ready, full of bioflavonoids for vein strength.

This workbook is a sacred space to keep track of your reiki practice.

It is in black & white so it can be easily printed out. It is done in a workbook style for you to write in, to help you to remember to use your reiki, give you ideas of other ways to use your reiki, and to help you focus on using reiki daily. The more you use your reiki the more you will heal & the more reiki energy you will channel.

This workbook can be used by anyone studying reiki with any teacher or any type of reiki. Reiki is a tool and a gift that is meant to be used. I have often heard my students say that they forget to use reiki to heal themselves, to heal those around them to manifest what they’d like to bring into their lives, to release what they’d like to let go of.

My purpose in offering this workbook is to give you focus to your reiki practice. And to open up self discovery.

WHY ARE CLASSES 3 HOURRS? my classes are 3 hours (as opposed to a full day) to give you just enough information on reiki to not overwhelm you. This class will give you a good overview of what reiki is, what it can do & how to use it at home. It will begin the self healing process & empower you to continue this at home. You get a 10 page outline that covers what you need to know about reiki, some "tools" to take home to open your hands to the reiki flow even more, to ground you & begin your personal healing.

A further note on 8 hour classes: there is a lot of "filler". It is simply too long for your first reiki class. The type of reiki I now teach is simpler to teach, you get way more, you move more quickly into self healing & will feel much better much faster. It has taken me many years to develop the reiki courses, to bring my students balance, understanding, self empowerment for their healing. By combining the best of many types of reiki I've developed classes that have updated energy. These are powerful yet gentle classes.

APPRENTICESHIP: For those who are ready to continue with weekly work, moving through more levels of reiki & learning 3 lineages of reiki in the process, I offer Living Light, an apprenticeship & journey through reiki.

WHY DOES GROUNDING MATTER.?

There’s lots of ways to ground, most ways involve visualization. In level 1 i teach a way to ground, using an energy exercise i teach in class. so you can go home and begin to open your hands and feet on your own. why does this matter? if you are ungrounded, you are not IN your body fully, and your energy field gets drained by other people and events you are exposed to. leaving you emotionally exhausted and feeling unprotected energetically. i show you how to do this yourself, this is self empowerment for healing yourself. in teaching grounding and self healing for level one, you can then move on level two, clearing old emotions and behaviours that no longer serve you. this allows much more energy to move through you and you heal yourself and others much more deeply. you need this grounding and stabilization of level one to really move forward and channel much more energy.

i have a few large pieces in the reiki room, and some tiny pieces in my wallet 🙏🏼🌀ground and protect ! you can get tiny pieces that are easy to carry with you. tourmaline and hematite are useful for all purpose cleansing and protection of negativity but also both are great to carry during menopause when the body and emotions are overburdened by hormone changed and our defences are down. walnut vibrational essence taken internally is also great support during menopause when we need a

little extra emotional support 💚

Sharing yet another wonderful post by Kiva Rose, about Michael Moore the herbalist, so many great resources from both of these herbalists.

I’ve been fascinated by plants since infancy (ask my poor mother), and have studied herbalism since childhood, but I didn’t really begin to explore clinical work in an in-depth way until I moved to New Mexico over 13 years ago. It wasn’t long after I arrived in the Canyon, completely enamored of the unfamiliar and diverse flora of the Gila, that Wolf gave me his copy of Medicinal Plants of the Mountain West. Wolf and Michael were friends from way back, and Michael was and is one of the most influential herbalists of not only the Southwest, but all of the English speaking world. It’s certainly not an overstatement to say that book changed my life.

I now own multiple copies of all of Michael’s hard copy books, all of his digital books, have scoured the internet for all his writings, and taken both of his courses through the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine. I can quote you Michael Moorisms (of which there are many, most of them hilarious) backwards and forwards. His continuous emphasis on common sense, clinical experience, bioregionalism, sustainability, constitutional patterns, and deep respect for the origins of his knowledge have profoundly influenced the way I practice and perceive herbalism. I’m only sorry that we weren’t able to get the conference going while he was still alive and well enough to teach there.

From the very first Traditions in Western Herbalism Conference nearly a decade ago, the gathering has been a tribute to Michael’s work and legacy. Through all of its transformations and changes into its current form as The Good Medicine Confluence, we have continued to honor the foundations on which he built his school and writings. This past June in Durango, Michael’s partner, Donna Chesner, was in attendance at the conference and let me know that she was making enrollment in his courses absolutely free!

The Constitutional and Therapeutics course and the Materia Medica course represent the last class taught by Michael Moore at the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine, in the spring of 2006. Herbal Therapeutics and Constitutional Evaluation

Each organ system of the body is dealt with in physiologic terms, therapeutic and treatment methods, and constitutional aspects. The specific tonic herbs for each organ system or stress type are presented and explored in depth. The Constitutional Workbook and school manuals, patient record forms, work sheets and intake forms are supplied, as well as specific reference material referred to in the lectures . There are 140 hours of lectures and 12 Lessons.

Materia Medica

Michael’s lectures cover the botanical nature of the plants, their habitat, distribution, constituents, what they should look and taste like in commerce, how to grow or gather them, parts used, preferred form of preparation and dosages, therapeutic uses and their stature as remedies. Lectures may be 90 minutes for the Echinaceas, 15 minutes for the Verbenas, 5 minutes for Condurango Root. Video is interspersed with film clips, photographs, distribution maps, etc. (the same way Michael lectured). The number of DVDs is 58 and adjunct CDs is 5. The video lessons add up to 115 hours, the audio portions covering secondary plants total about 100 hours. There are 10 lesson sections. Each lesson has a plant guide that outlines preparations, formulas they are commonly used within, and formula preparation methods.

This is really an incredible opportunity for anyone wishing to study herbalism, and even moreso for those of us living and practicing in the American Southwest! I hope that some of you will be able to benefit from the great generosity of Donna and SWSBM and help to preserve and pass on the ingenious insights, profound love of the plants, and practical skills that makes up Michael’s legacy.
