So, for any of you who anxiously await a network’s Who, What, When, Where & Why decision whether to renew your favorite TV show, message boards and show web pages aren’t enough. You NEED to know what is happening. And that is what makes a network’s upfront so exciting.   Traditionally it is used for advertisers to check out upcoming television seasons and determine which shows they think will be the best bet for their advertising dollars. For us lay people, its a wonderful way to start planning those comfy evenings on the couch.

Last Wednesday, May 9th saw A&E kicking off their Upfront session at the Tent at Lincoln Center.  The tent, draped in over 900 feet of our White Velour Event Drape, 115 feet of our Black Velour,  48 feet of our White Sheer and a Custom made White Velour Gable, played host to celebrities from their renewed and upcoming series including Jennifer Love Hewitt (“The Client List” – On Lifetime, an affiliated A&E Network) and Lindsay Lohan (“Liz and Dick”) as well as the stars of the reality show “Duck Dynasty.”

Drape Kings Transforms Pier 36 for the 2012 Bike Expo New York

Tuesday, May 1st was a night of epic proportions for the Drape Kings team.  In under TEN hours the Drape Kings Carpet Division laid over 7,700 Yards of our premium event carpet while our Drape experts simultaneously set up 96 Trade Show Booths AND draped the perimeter of Pier 36 Basketball City for the 2012 Bike Expo New York.

With a little over two months of preparation, a “Can Do” attitude, and an absolute LOVE of a challenge, our team was ready to go and began setting up our Grey Event Carpet shortly after 10PM. Quickly laying this highlighting feature, it was on to the majority of the floor with our premium Black Event Carpet.  As one section was laid, our Drape Experts followed behind draping the perimeter in almost 500 feet of our Black Encore Event Drape and creating 96  Trade Show Booths. Adding color and dimension to the event was Drape Kings NEW Astro Turf. The event, with the creative use of Drape Kings colorful Event Carpet, is designed to recreate the iconic streets of New York City in both concept and design.

As an established Event Drape Rental & Sales company, Drape Kings is proud of its ongoing efforts to provide its clients with all of their Event Staging needs. Event Carpet is just the tip of the iceberg in our continuing effort to be our client’s one stop shop for Event Staging.

Earlier this month Drape Kings was proud to once again drape the 69th Regiment’s Lexington Avenue Armory, this time for the 10th Anniversary TV Land Awards.  The Awards, hosted by “Live with Kelly’s” Kelly Ripa, will air this Sunday, April 29th at 9PM Eastern/8PM Central time on the TV Land channel.  Honoring classic TV shows of days gone by, this year’s honorees are “One Day at a Time” (Innovator Award), “In Living Color” (Groundbreaking Award), “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse” (Pop Culture Award), “Murphy Brown” (Impact Award) and “Laverne & Shirley” (Fan Favorite Award – Of Course!).

The production set up took almost two weeks, with an ever evolving design and layout, and required over 700ft of our 5′h, 8′h 12′ h and 16′h Black Encore Event Drape as well as 22 Stanchions with our 6′ & 8′ long sturdy yet elegant Black Ropes.  The taping, which occurred on Saturday, April 14th, was attended by numerous celebrities honoring these popular TV shows.

The annual Wedding Salon event in New York City was held Monday afternoon at the Metropolitan Pavilion in downtown Chelsea where hundreds of eager brides-to-be were wooed by vendors promising to make their wildest wedding dreams come true.  From a Willy Wonka themed table to an authentic, plantation wedding, brides look no further than this event for all of their wedding needs.

Attendees entered the venue through a bold, swagged entrance of 16′ high Purple Supervel into a glittering display of the latest in bridal designs, dresses & decor. Wedding vendors from across the United States as well as many exotic international locals displayed their talents amidst 48 Trade Show Booths created from our elegant 8′ high Bleached White Muslin Event Drapery.

In all, the event was awash in 850 feet of our premium Event Drape, transforming the open even space into a elegant, comfortable setting for a bride’s wedding dreams to take flight.

On Monday, April 16th, with a cloudless sky and the cooling breeze of an early summer day, the noble Prudential Lions were unveiled at the newly revitalized Essex County Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ using not one, but two simultaneous Drape Kings Kabuki Drops! The Kabuki drops, featuring Drape Kings’ Royal Blue Encore event drape, cascaded to the ground reveling the two newly dedicated Prudential Lions, Art & Pat. The lions were rechristened after former Prudential CEO Art Ryan and his wife Pat Ryan as a tribute to their decades of dedication to the restoration of the park. This grand unveiling of the Prudential Lions is the culmination of a $4 million dollar multiphase project, of which $1.5 million was donated by Prudential, to revitalize the lakefront of the 360 acre park.

• Provide general production and administrative support for the day-to-day operations of Rental Department

• Manage all customer inquiries and orders; resolve customer problems
• Handle customer inquiries regarding product and availability

• Work with Production Department to ensure all client information as well as job specifications are current and correct
• Follow up with client contact to either book or cancel job request
• Work with rental team to coordinate scheduling of crew and transportation for all jobs
• Work in tandem with Marketing department to coordinate job follow-up, photo ops, testimonials, etc

The successful candidate must be a quick learner, creative thinker, great communicator, and able to prioritize and complete projects. Attention to detail and a positive can-do attitude are critical. Prior experience in Film/TV production a plus.

Drape Kings New CFO, Keith Westpy

Drape Kings is honored to announce that Keith Westpy joined the Drape Kings team this March as their Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Westpy, who hails from Bloomfield, New Jersey, joins Drape Kings directly from his position as Controller at Sixth Sense Media headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Mr. Westpy’s primary focus will be overseeing the financial growth of both Drape Kings and Media Services while, with Chief Executive Officer Dru Whitacre & Chief Operating Officer Kevin Goodrich, reviewing and developing new operating practices for both companies.

“With both Drape Kings and Media Services growing at a frenetic pace, the need for a well seasoned CFO became not only apparent, but a must.” states Drape Kings/Media Services CEO Dru Whitacre. “After an exhaustive search, Keith was picked out of a long list of highly skilled and capable candidates to help continue the firm’s growth and expansion. Keith’s combined finance background and executive leadership acumen is certain to pay results on many levels.”

Mr. Westpy, who received his B.S. in Accounting from Montclair State University and MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, will be based at the Drape Kings/Media Services Corporate office in North Bergen, New Jersey.

Drape Kings Derrick Valenti, Rising Star Meredith Greene, & CEO Dru Whitacre

Drape Kings is honored to announce that their Business Development Director, Meredith Greene, is the 2012 recipient of the ISES DC Capital Gala Rising Star Award. The award, presented on Sunday, March 25^th at the 17^th Annual Capital Awards Gala held at the Gannett/USA TODAY Headquarters in McLean, VA, is presented annually to a newer member of ISES DC who has risen to the challenges presented before them.

Drape Kings Premium Black Encore Event Drape at the Choice Eats 2012 Tasting Event

On Tuesday, March 13th the industry leader in Event Drapery, Drape Kings, had the delicious responsibility of transforming the 69th Regiment Armory into a yummy arena of foodie goodness for the 5th Annual Village Voice Choice Eats Tasting Event! The SOLD OUT evening hosted over fifty local eateries, multiple breweries, and even a Lady Gaga impersonator courtesy of Red Hook Lobster Pound in Brooklyn!

Transforming an event space the size of a city block required over 700 feet of Drape Kings Premium Black Encore Event Drapery. Instead of using traditional trade show booths for the tasting, Drape Kings added a majestic touch to the proceedings by creating wall dividers from over two hundred feet of their elegant Black Sheer Event Drape at 200% fullness.

This event was truly spectacular, not to mention absolutely DE-LIC-IOUS! Though its too late to attend the year’s event in person, you can check out its fabulousness with our stop motion video that covers the entire fourteen hour day, including setup. After watching, we’re sure you’ll agree with us that a year is too long to wait for their next fantastic event!
