This question is from myself. My last day on the job outside my home was about three months before my boy was born, and that was six years ago. I’ve been fortunate to figure out how to make enough money for my needs working from home, so I’ve been able to not spend so much on a professional wardrobe to work outside. But now it’s time again. I’m not going to work for someone else, but for myself…I’m finally taking action to realize my dream. I’ve been doing the groundwork for opening what I hope, God willing, is the first in a nation-wide chain of gender-specific fitness centers that have facilities for females only and facilities for males only. Anything having to do with water and swimsuits will be the star attraction of the centers…dedicated lap pools, water parks, pools for swimming lessons, pool parties, hot tubs, saunas, waterfalls, etc. I will need to meet with investors and bankers soon to get this project funded, and I want to look like a million dollars when I do. Stacy and Clinton said it—“You have to look like a million dollars to get a million dollars”—or something like that! (Did anyone see that episode?)

So I began a hunt for tall-sized, modest (or modestifyable), trendy, well-fitted, well-made, size 16 US, professional work clothes in cool color tones that look like a million dollars. OMG! I did a lot of web surfin’ that week. It turns out there IS a store, one store and only one store, that has clothing that meets all those requirements! It’s a UK store, Long Tall Sally.

Honorable by Clarks® from Zappos in color wine: A very comfortable shoe despite being a pump. I love them!! They are more comfortable than some flats I’ve worn—worth every penny. In real life, their color matches the Santa Rose tunic better.

At Windstorm Ranch: old-fashioned split skirts for riding horses

I was considering this about myself today, and I want to know if there is anyone out there who is as unimpressed as me. 

I am unimpressed by engagement rings. I don’t see their point. I think they are a waste of money. I think a woman should be more concerned with the character of her fiancé than with a ring and vice versa with the man.

So why am I this way? If you agree, why are you this way? Is it because we were just born that way? Because we’re not into jewelry much at all? Because we’re “religious” and tend not to care as much about worldy goodies? Because we think anything that is that expensive is a waste of money?

I’ve felt this way about engagement rings for as long as I can remember, even through my own engagement years ago (with no ring at my request).

Do you have a need for black casual dresses or black loungewear (house dresses, dusters, loungers, caftans, muu muus) to wear in the home ? Someone else did too and this is what I found for her.

Before I had my Ahiida Islamic swimsuit, I used to wear a long-sleeved swim shirt and quick-dry pants.

I really do use a modern-day parasol when out in the sun. Being in the sun too long gives me headaches, so my parasol helps me to not get headaches as well as keeping me cooler and protecting my facial skin from the sun.

Do you know what a “hijabi tan” is? It’s what headcovering Muslim women get in the summertime—tan face (but not neck), tan hands, and maybe tan feet. That tan demarcation looks weird when the woman is in her less-covering clothing like when at home or with relatives only. When I wear short sleeves at home, my arms are still pale, but my hands are darker making a weird look. My mother-in-law is particular about looks and wants me to get sun protective gloves to keep my hands from getting darker than the rest of me. At first I thought the suggestion was ridiculous, but now I’m considering the idea. What I don’t like is my tan face and white neck! It looks like I’ve got a bad foundation jawline when I’m not wearing my headcovering. My SPF sun cream doesn’t completely keep me from getting a tan face.
