What I’ve learned about myself this week

Really it’s nothing exciting but…..

1. I can make a mean iced soy latte-yeah it’s a good and a bad thing-but right now it’s savings us a lot of money on coffees.

2. My husband made me realize I could never live in a rural area. I saw a small creature in our basement yesterday and totally freaked out-yeah farm life may not be for me.

3. I am sick of hearing the phrase “I peed in my pants” oh and “I’m sorry I peed in your office. Ah the joys of potty training-well not potty training really-but potty maintenance I’ll call it.

4. I am looking forward to this long weekend with my family-working will be kept to a minimum and getting outside, sipping cool drinks and smores are on the agenda, along with a barbecue and the kite festival.

5. I’ve been a lazy parent lately-I really need to work on that-our morning tv time needs to be stopped

6. I love seeing pics of the finished rooms that the curtains I make go into.

7. I’m having a consultation with a holistic practitioner on Tuesday-I’m pumped about this but a little bummed because I know our insurance doesn’t cover it so not sure what I’ll be able to afford.

8. Did I mention I make a mean Iced soy latte?

9. I hate spiders, wasps and little ants-seriously get the heck out of my backyard so I can enjoy it without walking through a spider web every day and being scared away by wasps.

10. My dad helps us out A LOT around the house and I am really really greatful.

It’s Ok to Change Your Mind

I needed to get out of the house yesterday morning before sitting down to sew yet still be productive. I decided to head over to this neighborhood that I love. Or atleast I was infatuated with. I always talked about moving there with my husband and was positive that it was perfect for us. Well I grabbed my laptop and off I went. I wanted to check out a new bakery that I had heard good things about and thought I’d be able to sit outside and get some work done. I enjoyed looking at all of the beautiful old houses on my drive and pulled up to the bakery. Almost immediately I got a different feel for the neighborhood. It had nothing to do with the bakery….yet some of the people that were outside. It was weird-I immediately felt self conscious and that I was being critiqued. Hmmmm….I chose to get my bakery and head back home-kinda sad and deflated. Don’t get me wrong the bakery was A-mazing but I was disappointed. Maybe my husband was right all along-we are in the perfect spot for us-I don’t think I’ve ever felt judged in our neighborhood and I love love love the various people we have, old, new, young old etc. Why would I ever want to move?

Side note: I know people that live in the neighborhood that I visited and they are awesome people and I know I shouldn’t judge a whole neighborhood based on one experience…but just pretty sure it’s not part of my goals board anymore.

Why Didn’t I know About This!!!

Well Its probably a good thing I didn’t know about it-because I’ve already spent way too much time on the following website. It’s so great-you can pick and choose fabrics and then place them in the places you want and basically customize your own nursery decor. Plus the even better thing is that they use a lot of the same fabrics I do so clients will be able to use to take the guess work out of figuring out if their curtains will match their bedding.

This is the one I came up with today…

perfect with one of these fabrics for curtains….

I could spend all day on there…don’t worry I won’t-I have lots of work to get one…but maybe tonight. Oh and NO I am not pregnant www.babybedding.com

Some Days….

…..are made better with chocolate cake! Or in this case homemade vegan chocolate cake with nutella and strawberries….sometimes it’s all you need to make a stressful day better-yesterday was one of those days. No particular reason-just a culmination of things. But yes the cake made it better.

An Hour to Spare

I had an hour before starting work this morning and I had to decide whether I wanted to

A. Shower

B. Make Something

Well since I work from home I decided option A wasn’t really worth my time-so I chose B and whipped up these cute pajama pants for E and P. I’ve had the fabric forever now and E was really beginning to doubt me when I said I was making something for him and P out of it. I’m not really a “have your kids wear matching clothes” (no offense to those that do it-it looks cute sometimes) But I am A-Ok with matching pjs. These are going to be perfect for summer since it’s such a light fabric. Oh and in case you were worrying-I still had time to shower and look halfway decent for work

Happy Mother’s Day

Hope everyone enjoyed a great weekend! I was on a “no-work allowed weekend” which allowed for a lot of time spend outdoors. I created these awesome picture hangers for mine and justin’s moms-and I love how they turned out-some of my crafty ideas are better left in my head-but not this one-we’re planning on making some more of these for our house for pics and to hang some of the kids art projects. I hope to have a tutorial up on these this week-but knowing me it will come next week if I’m lucky

Hope you get a chance to enjoy some of the great weather(it’s perfect here in WI today-we’re stuck inside with a little guy with a fever and a little girl with a faucet for a nose oh and I’m seeing more than my fair share of Dora and Bubbleguppies.

Still Considered a Win

Yes the following all happened today-but I am still counting this as a win for mom day.

My son pants-ed me at the library(for the 2nd time in two weeks)

I was told “I peed on my bedroom floor…I tried to poop too but didn’t have to go”

A plethora of stickers were was found and are now decorating a cozy coop

“Hey that lady only has two-teeth”-picture this in a really loud three year old voice with pointing

My son has decided that he is “going to yoga class” but insists you can only go in your underwear…wait I take that back he just put on his sisters pink winter coat with his underwear

Shortened naps-probably due to the peeing incident.

A variety of temper tantrums from a little girl that is just as loud as her older brother and insists on letting everyone know

But along with these things came countless hugs, holding hands with both kids, errands accomplished, a large qty of orders delivered to the post office, a trip to the YMCA, a pretty good dinner(I call it a good dinner if both kids eat a decent amount), and being told that you’re a little guys favorite mom in the whole world. Life sure is interesting but I wouldn’t trade it for anything….well most days.

Oh I almost forgot…my son gave himself a swirley today too
