We were referred to Dream Come True vacations through a friend who is a fanatical Disney vacationer. Tracy exceeded all our expectations. Having never been there and booking only a week and a half in advance we were very overwhelmed. She calmed our fears, took the reins and booked us an amazing family vacation. From hotel, park passes and dinners everything was well thought out and planned. Not only did she plan a vacation we will never forget, she sent us a packet outlining each park with things to do and my girls crowns/wands that they carried everyday while we were away. What I appreciated the most was a text while we were away to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. I work in Sales, travel/vacation often and this just goes above and beyond your standard travel agent.

Anyone I know who mentions they are planning on going to Disney gets Tracy’s contact information. Thank you Tracy for all of your assistance, calming our fears and making us love Disney as much as you do. Tracy now has a client for life!

Jennifer C.

/> One of the first books I ever read was “Peter Pan.” Throughout my life, I have reread this book at least a hundred times. In this book, at the age of two, Wendy is heartbroken to learn that she must grow up. Because you see “you always know after you are two. Two is the beginning of the end.”

I must have realized this at a young age as well because once I discovered Disney, I knew that this was my Neverland; the one place in this world where I never had to grow up.

As a child, I searched every shelf in the library and bookstores for any information I could find about Disney World. I reread articles endlessly and would try to remember every detail on the few trips that my parents were able to afford. As I grew older (on the outside), I discovered that trips to the Disney parks were much more attainable with proper planning and budgeting. Every decision in college and my career have been centered around how can I spend more time in Disney.

As a result of my love for Disney, my children have lived charmed lives going to Disney World at least twice a year their entire life. When my daughter was five, I bought her a princess hat, that hat was magic!! Every cast member in the park treated her like royalty. This one memory had such a lasting impression on her life that, this fall, she will be attending the University of Central Florida to obtain a degree in Hospitality and Event Management with a specialty in Theme Park and Resort Management!

In our family we have a few simple Disney Park rules:
1. There is no crying in Disney World
2. Never Grow Up!
3. You must act a little silly
4. You are never too old for Disney (see rule 2)

One of the best things about Disney is having the opportunity to watch others experience the magic. The look on a child’s face the first time they see Tinkerbell’s flight is priceless! I love to show others why I love Disney so much. This is why it was a natural choice for me to become an Independent Consultant with Dream Come True Vacations.

<img

I insisted that we get up early so that we could be at the Magic Kingdom in time for the rope drop ceremony. She stood there, hugging her coffee cup and grumbling under her breath, while I was like a bubble that was about to burst! When the rope dropped, I skipped under the train station while dragging her behind me. At the end of the day, she grabbed my hand and we skipped out together. She looked at me with the biggest grin on her face and said “my face is hurting because I’ve been smiling so much!” The next week, she took her children on their first trip to Disney World!

I want to share this magic with everyone!

jana at dreamcometruevacations.com<br

Café Orleans is located in New Orleans Square and features indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside and enjoyed a relaxing and delicious lunch. The Pommes Frites were a yummy start followed by the Mardi Gras chicken sandwich served with sweet potato fries. All of those carbs didn’t allow room for dessert but had we indulged, it probably would have been on the Mickey-shaped beignets. I must put these on the list for my next trip to the West Coast.

Paradise Garden Grill and Carthay Circle are both located in California Adventure Park. Paradise Garden Grill was probably one of the best quick serve locations I’ve experienced in any Disney location! The menu features a selection of healthy skewers and rice dishes. What I liked best was that you could personalize it by first selecting your skewer of meat or vegetables and a variety of sauces. I selected the beef with chimichurri sauce while my husband had the chicken with tandoori sauce. The meats were tender and the sauces flavorful.

The new Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge opened about a month before we arrived. It is one of the signature dining locations in the Disneyland Resort. The lounge is filled with beautiful pictures and memorabilia taking guests back to the time of big screen debut of Snow White. We started with the Signature Fire Cracker Duck Wings which were more like a dish of fancy hot wings. I ordered the Colorado Rack of Lamb and my husband ordered the Udon Noodle Bowl. The lamb, while it was a small portion was delicious served with lightly breaded and fried zucchini and summer vegetables. My husband commented that the Noodle Bowl was much spicier than the duck wings which we were expecting set our mouths on fire. While the food was good, it didn’t live up to the standards we have come to expect from Disney’s Signature restaurants.

Seeing that, I knew I made the right choice out of the 3 onsite hotels at the Disneyland Resort. Just like California Adventure Park, Disneyland Hotel had recently gone through a major renovation and you could tell. You didn’t feel like you were walking into a hotel that was almost 60 years old.

Our room was located in the Frontier Tower and walking to our room allowed us to walk past the new D-Ticket pool and Monorail themed water slide. Disney is known for their elaborate theming and attention to detail and the D-Ticket pool didn’t disappoint. My kids couldn’t wait to jump in, but first we had to check out our room. Walking into the lobby of the Frontier Tower, we saw an amazing model of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Our room was beautifully decorated with 2 queen beds, beautiful double sink vanity with Mickey shaped faucet handles and Mickey’s gloved hand holding the wall lamps. But the highlight of room was the ornate headboard which featured Sleeping Beauty’s castle carved into the wood and fiber optic fireworks. Just flip a switch and you have your own personal fireworks show set to the music of “When You Wish Upon a Star”.

All of the Disneyland Resort hotels are within walking distance to Downtown Disney and Disneyland and California Adventure Park. Just walk out your room and head to the destination of your choice, no car, bus or other mode of transportation required. The Disneyland Hotel is home to Goofy’s Kitchen which offers a character buffet meal with Goofy and his pals. We didn’t eat here on this trip but when walking by the restaurant everyone looked like they were having a blast.
<a

We had been to Walt Disney World numerous times in the last five years but this was the first time my children, ages 9 and 6, would get to experience the park where it all began. And, we were all super excited to check out Cars Land which had recently opened at Disney’s California Adventure Park.

While Disneyland is much smaller than Walt Disney World, it doesn’t lack any of the magic. Walking through the gates, you step onto Main Street USA and see Sleeping Beauty castle gleaming in the sunlight. A unique feature of Disneyland is its additional entrance via the Disneyland Monorail. Just outside the gates of Disneyland and California Adventure is Downtown Disney. Here is where you will find the entrance to the Disneyland Monorail. You need a valid theme park ticket to enter the monorail station. There are cast members at the entrance to check bags and scan tickets. Once onboard the monorail, you are whisked over Downtown Disney and Main Street USA to your destination, Tomorrowland! Stepping off the monorail, you are just steps away from Space Mountain. This was a highlight for my family as Space Mountain was first on our list. One of the things we enjoyed most was comparing the attractions to their counterparts in WDW. Space Mountain in DLR, for example, the seats are arranged side-by-side as opposed to single file as they are in Magic Kingdom. Moments after stepping off Space Mountain, we were in line for Star Tours. Tomorrowland is a perfect setting for Star Tours. Star Tours at DLR was updated to the 3D version just as the one in Hollywood Studios. There were no differences that we could see with this attraction but my son was picked to be the Rebel Spy so that was quite a treat for him.

Another thing you will notice about Disneyland is because of the smaller footprint, everything is much closer together. Instead of walking several yards to the next attraction like you do at WDW, you are walking just a few feet. This makes touring the park a lot easier. Just because the park is smaller, don’t think that Disney skimped out on the unique theming and attention to detail that is synonymous with the Disney brand. Similar to Magic Kingdom, Disneyland features eight distinct lands, Adventureland, Critter Country, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Main Street USA, Mickey’s Toontown, New Orleans Square, and Tomorrowland. The center of Disneyland is Sleeping Beauty’s castle. For those familiar with Cinderella’s Castle, you will be surprised to see how much smaller Sleeping Beauty’s castle is. Beyond the castle is every child’s dream come true, Fantasyland! Attractions unique to Disneyland’s Fantasyland are Alice in Wonderland, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Pinocchio’s Daring Journey, Storybook Land Canal Boats and Snow White’s Scary Adventures which closed last year at Magic Kingdom.
Another attraction that is not duplicated is Indiana Jones Adventure. Unlike the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular in Hollywood Studios, Indiana Jones Adventure is a high thrill ride that puts you right into the action. Be prepared for a fast, jerky, bumpy ride through the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. This was definitely a favorite for my family. Another family favorite is Splash Mountain. Again, Splash Mountain here is slightly different than Magic Kingdom’s version. Here you are seated single file one behind another. Personally, I prefer the wider logs of the Magic Kingdom so the whole family can sit together (and my kids can hold onto me during the big drop, I’m such a wimp).
New Orleans Square is the equivalent of Liberty Square featuring the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. Critter Country is a mix of Frontierland and Fantasyland with Splash Mountain and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
WELCOME TO RADIATOR SPRINGS

California Adventure Park underwent a major renovation introducing Cars Land in Summer 2012. Cars Land is one of the eight uniquely themed areas of California Adventure Park. The featured attraction to Cars Land is Radiator Springs Racers. Radiator Springs Racers features 6-passenger vehicles resembling Lightning McQueen and his friends. Guests are taken for a scenic tour of Ornament Valley and past Radiator Falls before preparing for the Big Race. Two cars are lined up for a high speed race filled with hills and hairpin turns to the checkered finished line. We were lucky enough to ride in the red Lightning McQueen car and we also won the race. As you can imagine, Radiator Springs Racers is incredibly popular. It is recommended to head straight for Radiator Springs Racers upon entering the park. If you arrive at park opening, you may be able to get a fast pass. Or if you are not traveling with young children, try the single rider line. Luigi’s Flyer Tires and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree are the other attractions in Cars Land.

Buena Vista Street brings guests back to Los Angeles of the 1920s and 30s, with Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge paying tribute to the historic premiere of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Buena Vista Street was named after the street where Walt opened The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, CA. You really feel as if you stepped back in time.
Aside from Cars Land, my family’s favorite place was Paradise Pier. Here is where you will find California Screamin’, the steel roller coaster featuring a 360 degree loop and everyone’s favorite Toy Story Mania. Mickey’s Fun Wheel is a huge ferris wheel where guests can choose to ride in traditional gondolas or the swinging gondolas slide and sway back and forth. Paradise Pier is also where you’ll want to return at night to experience World of Color, which is a spectacular nighttime show featuring Disney’s classic movies and soundtracks set against a wall of water.

Tucked away in the corner to the right of the main entrance is Soarin’Over California, another family favorite. Other must see attractions are Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Grizzly River Run and Monster’s Inc. Mike and Sully to the Rescue. Be sure to also take time out for Aladdin – A Musical Spectular, the theater fills up quickly so arrive early.

Just like Disneyland, California Adventure Park has two entrances but one entrance is only available to guests staying at a Disneyland resort hotel. This entrance is available through the Grand Californian Hotel and allows guests to enter the park by Grizzly River Run. One note, if using this entrance at park opening, arrive at least 30 minutes early. There are only 2 turnstiles so it’s takes a while to get large crowds through.
<a

This year, it was held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort rather than the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. It was a homecoming of sorts for me, since this was where I had stayed for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend just 6 weeks earlier.

Priority Number One was to score a pair of those adorable Minnie Mouse New Balance running shoes. I had tried to get them at the Marathon Weekend expo and was “stuck” with Mickey due to Minnie selling out faster than hotcakes. My Mickey shoes are super comfortable and fit well, but I really wanted Minnie to go with them so my friend and I scooted to the New Balance booth immediately upon entering the expo. I vaguely noted that there were photo opportunities with royal pages and other princessy things on the way in, but I didn’t take the time to stop.

I was grateful to have a friend along for the ride, since she was gracious enough to hold our spots in the (very very long) New Balance line while I went to pick up my bib number and race shirt. I was thrilled to have a relatively low number, which meant I would start in Corral B. Men were seeded in Corrals C and higher, so I knew all the boys would be chasing me on race day!

I next swung past the merchandise booth and decided against getting what I like to call an Idiot Shirt due to the long lines at the cash register. (The term “Idiot Shirt” came about when I proudly showed my husband my race pin from the 2009 Disneyland Half Marathon. It read, in all caps, “I DID IT.” Since the letters were kerned a bit tightly together, he asked me why in the world had I bought a pin that said “Idiot.” The moniker stuck, as did Disney’s practice of including the caption “I did it” on all of their finisher’s shirts. So we’ve referred to them as “Idiot Shirts” for the past 3-1/2 years.)

Long story short, the decision to skip the merchandise booth is my one regret of the weekend. There were no Idiot Shirts to be had at the merchandise booth at the finish line. Live and learn! For future reference, don’t be shy about purchasing something that says “I did it” even if you haven’t technically “done it” yet. Some runners fear it’s bad luck to buy it in advance, but you can simply leave the tags on and note that unearned Idiot Shirts can be returned to any Disney gift shop after the race. Your chances of buying one after the race are slim to none, however, so it’s much better to risk the bad luck if you really want that shirt.

I next stopped at the race shirt distribution area. The tech shirt included with registration is one of my favorites. I toyed with the idea of wearing it for the race, but remembered the old adage “Nothing new on race day!” I’m definitely looking forward to wearing it during my spring and fall training runs.

Finally I rejoined my friend in the New Balance line. She had moved up maybe 5 yards and I was starting to worry they would sell out before we reached the booth. But we eventually reached the front of the line, and – even better – they still had both of our sizes in stock!

By this point, we were pretty wiped out from our overnight drive from Alabama and we had just received the text that our Royal Room at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside was ready for us. So naturally we decided to go check it out. The room has lovely accents that are truly fit for a Princess. I’ve saved an album to my Facebook page here .

I won’t bore you with details of the rest of the weekend (hint: we enjoyed visiting the theme parks and experienced several attractions wearing tiaras). The next thing I knew, it was 2:45 AM on Sunday morning and my alarm was going off. Time to get ready! I grabbed my usual pre-run fuel of a bagel, peanut butter, and Diet Coke and headed off to the bus stop. There was a long line of wannabe Princesses already waiting. We finally boarded around 3:30 and then encountered some of the worst Disney traffic I’ve ever seen. It shouldn’t have been a surprise: 26,000 registered runners leads to 26,000 people trying to get to the same place all at once. Our driver kept his cool and I enjoyed sitting in relative comfort rather than waiting it out in the Epcot parking lot, but it was a little worrisome that we didn’t arrive until an hour before my corral was due to start.

The walk from the staging area to the start is over one mile long and can be pretty congested. I was glad to make it through bag check and to the corral area before the fireworks went off to announce the start. Actually, I was in line for the porta-potty when the national anthem was being sung. Talk about cutting it close! But I made it to my corral in plenty of time for our turn to cross the start line. As usual, the race announcers and the Fairy Godmother did a great job keeping us pumped up and excited while we waiting for our chance to run.

The course itself was a repeat of the half marathon course I had just run on January 12, so there were no real surprises. Disney did a great job of providing princes and princesses (and a Johnny Depp-lookalike pirate or two) for runners to pose with. Parade floats, huge banners, larger-than-life puppets and kites also provided some nice photo backgrounds.

Dasani and Powerade were provided just frequently enough that I didn’t regret leaving my water bottle at home for this race. Clif Shot provided energy gels in the same place they had in January, and their flags were a welcome sight for hungry runners as we approached. Personal note: Mocha is my new favorite flavor and I really think it would taste fabulous on a cupcake!

I decided not to stop for photos this year and tried to shoot for a Personal Record (PR). In looking at my placement, I was probably one of the few to aim for a PR during this race. Although I didn’t land a PR and had a chip time that would land me squarely in the bottom 25% of a local half marathon, I finished in the top 15% of the pack. It was definitely a nice ego boost, but it made me wonder if the other runners had more fun out there than I had.

I spent the rest of the day visiting Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Downtown Disney wearing my beautiful 5th anniversary medal. And I may or may not have taken the world’s best nap late that afternoon.

If you are interested in participating in the next Princess Half Marathon or any other runDisney event, please visit The highlight of my time in the new Fantasyland was at Enchanted Tales with Belle. There was a long line for this attraction and it had been a long day already. I had a group of men, children, and teens, which continued to grumble throughout the line. “The statement “This better be worth it” was muttered frequently, but I knew Belle was up to the challenge!

The queue is very cute as you wait outside and travel inside of Belle’s quaint childhood home. Once inside you are given an intro by a cast member who informs you that you are going to be taken back to the time that Belle and Beast fell in love. At this point the mirror on the wall magically opens up into a portal (a door). There were plenty of audible gasps in the room and I myself was unsure how they even did it. Imagineering at its best! You are then taken into another room at which you meet the talking wardrobe and guests are assigned interactive roles in the story. Both the willing and unwilling are chosen to play a part in the story which makes for a very fun show!

The story itself takes place in the Library with a realer than life Lumiere and Belle who did an amazing job acting out with the other players. During the story a Photopass photographer is on hand taking pictures of the show and afterwards the volunteers (and other guests) can have a turn taking a picture with Belle. We ended up having more laughs then we imagined in this attraction and every single one of us left with smiles and a Photopass card full of amazing pictures!

Down the way is another great attraction, Under the Sea with Ariel which was just as cute as I imagined! Wait times were never to terrible, 30 minutes maximum and the queue takes through Ariel’s grotto and is very interactive and fun for kids as you try and help the blue crabs sort through Ariel’s “whozits and whatnots”. Once on board you climb into Ariel’s clamshell and dive under the sea. The ride is very colorful and fun with great music and some very realistic audio animatronics. It is a great experience for kids and adults and we made sure to ride this attraction multiple times, we enjoyed it so much! Overall the attractions in the new Fantasyland are fun for young and old and are very interactive throughout which makes for a great experience from start to finish.

Belle’s Village
Peacefully setting underneath the Beast’s Castle is Belle’s Village which consists of Gaston’s Tavern (Quick-Service and Snacks) and Bonjour Village Gifts (Gift Shop) nestled in between the two is a monument built to honor who else? Gaston of course!

I was really kicking myself for not getting a chance to try any of the food or drinks at Gaston’s Tavern, this placed is themed SO well and we never found too long of a line here during the day or at night. Antlers line the walls, light fixtures, ceilings, you name it, there’s an antler! The main draw here is LaFrous Brew, and the Pork Shank. Gastons Tavern is definitely a spot for the manliest of men or anyone looking for a rustic place to get a snack and relax!
Across from Gaston’s is Bonjour Village Gifts, this is a cool place to get some unique souvenirs that are themed specifically for the area. Plenty of Gargoyles, Steins, Glass Roses, and Belle themed attire and fun keepsakes. Lets just say I could have spent a LOT of money here!

This reservation was a tough one to get our hands on but was well worth the effort and I can easily say it is (in my opinion) the best Table Service option within the Magic Kingdom! The restaurant serves as a Quick Service dining option during lunch and transforms into a Table Service location in the evenings.

Upon arriving at Be Our Guest I was immediately pleased at how immersive the experience is. You must first cross the bridge with Beasts Castle looming overhead and gargoyles guarding the path along your way. You are taken into the main lobby area when your table is ready and from there will be seated in either the West Wing, the Ballroom, or the Rose Gallery. For our visit we were seated in the Ballroom and I was truly astonished with how massive and breathtaking this space is! The Imaginears did an amazing job of duplicating the Beast’s Ballroom from the movie. Every detail from the painted murals on the ceiling, the sparkling chandeliers, the tiled floors, down to snow falling from the balcony window outside was gorgeous.

The tables were lit romantically and each table setting had a beautiful napkin arranged in the shape of a rose. This would be a great place to celebrate an anniversary or a special occasion! As it was I had a table with a 4 and 6 year old, who were busy eyeing the dessert cart parked next to us.

For Dinner I and many others ordered the Pan Seared Salmon on Leek Fondue, two others ordered the Grilled Strip Steak with Garlic Butter Spread and Pommes Frites. Those who ordered the Salmon all agreed that this dish was a knockout! It was cooked to perfection and the leek fondue with Saffron potatoes was amazing. I can easily say that this was the best meal I had during our entire trip, I’m still dreaming about that Salmon… There were conflicting reports on the Strip Steak though. One said that it was cooked perfectly and the other said it was a bit tough and gristly.

The kids ordered the Grilled Steak and the Whole-Grain Macaroni. The steak was a winner and both brother and sister helped out with that. The macaroni was not a hit, but it had been a long day and neither of the kids were very hungry. Well, that is until the dessert cart pulled up! Each table is served by a dessert cart that is filled with a selection of assorted cupcakes and crème puffs. I am not a big crème puff or cupcake girl so I wasn’t too excited for the options however they did a great job on all of the choices in the cart. Each crème puff was filled to the brim with passion fruit, lemon meringue, or chocolate crème. And our strawberry cupcakes had some of the ripest and freshest strawberries I‘ve had in a long time. Most of us took our desserts to go since dinner was so delicious; they made a great snack to pull out while watching Wishes!<br

I don’t know if this is a limited time opportunity but I hope the restaurant keeps this around! It was a quick and easy way to get some great pictures with a character and the kids all loved it.

Overall I give this restaurant a 10 out of 10. The atmosphere was amazing and the majority of us were really pleased with our food with most of us agreeing it was the best meal of the trip. So next time you are in the world make sure to make some dining reservations for Be Our Guest!
<a
